Barry Allen is the online handle for Ed Garrett on a variety of sites associated with comics, mafia games, and other interests. I'm a long time comics collector ( buying on and off for over 40 years, since comics were only 12 cents). I'm obviously a fan of The Flash, in all the comic book incarnations (Barry, Jay, Wally and Bart). You can find me as "Barry Allen" in Mafia rounds at http://vendetta-strada.com, and as "xBarryxAllenx" on Twitter, AIM and when I act as administrator of the fan site http://thefastestforumalive.proboards.com. In addition, "Barry Allen" supplies the voice of Yanni Yogi for the upcoming Turnabout Musical, a fan project based on the popular Ace Attorney series of video games. You can find more at http://pwmusical.com.
Is THIS the REAL "Golden Age of Comics"? Our Ed Garrett seems to thinks so...with 5 Reasons Why!
Taken as a whole, today’s comics are truly the best we’ve ever seen...and we have 5 good reasons why this is truly the NEW Golden Age of comics. Thanks to all the amazing creators who make our Wednesdays so great!
Hope you enjoy - set to Right Said Fred’s “I’m Too Sexy”, this is a love letter to Star Wars fans (like us) everywhere! If you like, please reblog or send folks to TMStash.com for this and more about Star Wars, and comics/movies/TV in general. Thanks!
This week in the DC Corner, Ed helps us catch up on five series that are getting the ax at DC, and one issue of BATMAN that is truly "for the ages". We'll be missing some of the series that are going away...what does #NOTMYLOBO mean? But, we WILL highly recommend BATMAN #44...an amazing issue that steps out of the "Mr. Bloom" story arc to give us a tale that should be discussed for a very long time. Be sure to check it out, and be sure to keep checking TMStash for all your news, reviews and commentary! Share this:Pocket
My video for this week’s podcast is up at TMStash.com. Please check it out - Thanks!
I seem to remember on political issues a lot of white people pulling out the old tired line of “There’s not a white American and a Black America, there’s just America”
Apparently the same does not apply for these folks and Captain America. I’ve heard a lot of people getting upset about a black...
This is the first page of the exclusive preview of Princeless you’ll be seeing in the Halloween Comics Fest book from Action Lab Comics on October 25th.

This is the second time anybody outside of the immediately Princeless family is seeing this. Â Second because I shared it with Janelle Asselin on twitter earlier this week after describing the miraculous site of a comic book cover with three teen girls of the different ethnicities, fully clothed, and without implants. Â Because it can be done and it look bloody amazing.
When we set up the brackets for Superhero March Madness, we had a few goals in mind. We didn't want the same-old-same-old pairings, and believed greater diversity in the brackets was a good thing...that it would help us tell the story of some characters who deserved a second look (even though some of the bigger names are also there). And, our followers have responded with some interesting results...including the Day 1 win by Power Girl over Batman! But, with one last day to go in Round 1, we're bringing in a personal favorite of mine from THE MOVEMENT - Virtue! Hopefully we will see more of her (and others from THE MOVEMENT) in the DC Universe even after the series ends - but for now if you're a fan like me come on over and VOTE!
At TMStash.com, we're having a DC vs Marvel Superhero March Madness competition. Some very important votes are coming up, and this old DC fan is looking for a signal boost to bring in some votes for our favorites. I'm already sensing an upset on day one where Thor is leading Superman...and on Tuesday March 18th Wonder Woman is up against Jean Grey, so I'm hoping we can get all the good DC fans on board here! Other great characters that made the field of 64 include Barbara Gordon, Stephanie Brown, Black Canary, Huntress, Power Girl, and Virtue (from The Movement)...just to name a few. We have both Barry Allen and Wally West in the field as well...don't miss it! This URL takes you to the main brackets - but voting has already begun, so be sure to check out the full site. Looking for signal boost here - @hellyeahsupermanandwonderwoman @dcwomenkickingass @apewithacape and @DCU to help...hope to see you all there!
Ever had one of those remarks you really wish you could take back? I certainly did here, and after our podcast I wrote the attached article to correct myself. I referred to a scene in SIDEKICK as "not forcible rape, but still rather rapey" and went on to talk about how tone-deaf the scene was...only my description of the scene is just as (if not more) tone-deaf. The scene where Flyboy used his power and the threat of arrest to coerce a prostitute into free sex was not "rapey", it was actual rape. Words matter, and if I'm going to call others out, I need to call myself out for using that term. I'm not going to say "if you were offended" I apologize...that's a meaningless statement. I'm offended and I'm the one who said it. I am sorry, and I do apologize, period. While I don't regret bringing up the subject of misogyny in comics, and while I think this is a very important topic to discuss, I do regret referencing the SIDEKICK scene as "not forcible rape" - let's be clear, rape is rape, and for that remark I deeply apologize. Words matter, and I hope to represent that a whole lot better in the future.
Misogyny is all too often played up for yucks in comics, and even usually excellent writers can fall into that trap. The latest example was published just this week, and this article uses that example to talk about the issue of "misogyny for the lulz"...and how it needs to stop.
So…I was looking for something good to hook up my lovely 2,000 Tumblr followers with and I decided to see if this wonderful old link still worked…it does.
I now present to you, courtesy of Bleeding Cool, a free copy of Princeless #1 for you perusal!
We’ll cook up a few more things too, but make sure you share this one, because I’m not shy about giving away a comic book if it means bringing in a few more Princeless fans!
The first volume has just finished releasing in single issues, so you may be able to find them in comic book stores right now! Â Failing that, a trade collection of them will be made available in March. Â The trade will be available in comic stores, on amazon, and even in book stores should they be so good as to order it!
Of course, it is also available digitally via comixology, which is always open and never sells out!
The only danger in reading PRINCELESS #1 is that you will immediately want to buy EVERY issue. It is a fantastic book, one of the very best all-ages books ever published! princelesscomic
