“Well, I pulled it out off your arse and this is how it looks now, asshole. I was digging for it, it fell down in this huge pile of leaves.”
“It’s quite the filthy parchment now. What was even in it?”
severus-the-cynic:
Severus stared down at the creepy muggle toy.
He’s right, it was rather hideous. The Slytherin wondered if Crouch knew what it was, or even how it came into Hogwarts.
“Perhaps you could forgo curiosity and move straight to destroying it,” Severus commented, with a look of disgust directed at the toy.
“Nah, I’d rather you have a go at it first. You know, so I can laugh at you while you do so.” Arms folded over his chest, Barty had a wicked smirk across his face. It wasn’t that he didn’t know to; Barty was better than Severus, even age wasn’t a problem.
Barty just wanted to assess what could go wrong before he whipped his wand out to destroy that thing with eyes and weird looking shapes all over it’s creepy, tiny body.
oopsiexdaisy:
“I swear it was an accident!”
“Yeah, yeah, everyone makes mistakes and all that hippogriff shit. It looks filthy, and someone’s gonna take house points away for that.”
peterpettigrew-rp:
“Would you believe me if I said that it was an accident?”
“Of course I would. I mean, Pettigrew...aren’t you a walking accident yourself?”
misspandoracharm:
“No, I wasn’t expecting anyone. I was just…oh.” She looked at her sweater in her hand. “Sorry, I forget not everyone is comfortable with that. Lemme just put this other shirt on.”
“Don’t worry about it. Take your time, Blishwick. I’m basically living every boy’s dream here.”
watchingtoby:
“Crouch, take a chill pill. It’s just a Niffler. Not even a fully grown one.”
“My apologies there, Wood. Didn’t realise you related to those so well. Well, the mystery’s solved, so carry on nursing for that dirtbag of a whatever it is.”
misspandoracharm:
A soft knock echoed from the doorway as Pandora was changing. She paid no mind. “It’s open.”
“So you’re cool with just anyone walking in or were you expecting someone else?”
“I have no idea how even managed to unearth something so hideous, but I’m sickened by how curious I am to know.”
Severus, you’re the authority on being hated. You tell me how to deal with this situation.
Barty [after facing his first major rejection]
Gwen winced upon hearing the harsh tone in his voice. She hadn’t meant to offend him, especially since it seemed that he wasn’t having the best day as it was. “Sorry.” she replied awkwardly, not quite sure of what else to say.
“I would, but time was short and they weren’t around, so I ended up here.” a light chuckle escaped her lips. “I’d do it myself, but, uh, my wand’s acting a bit weird today.”
Barty detected the change in tone, and he registered something wrong happening. He wasn’t usually one to understand feelings, but he could try and fake it. The probing that came after, otherwise, was no fun. “It’s fun. Can I see your wand? Did you break it during practise maybe? A dyfunctional wand can be quite lethal. Cause quite the boom, you see.”
“…It’s not my opinion. I actually don’t care.” Fatima would have preferred to be outside, instead of locked indoors. “Probably longer than necessary for all this ‘welcome back to school’ rubbish. We’ve all heard it before, I don’t get why they repeat it every single year. At least they stopped doing the ‘get to know your classmate’ tripe.”
“It’s refreshing to remember all the idiots we left behind last year. Since none of them have died due to their lack of common sense, I’m assuming that Muggle theories on evolution and natural selection are false.” Barty commented, not ready to be caught agreeing with Fatima just yet.
“Must have forgotten about Rita then. My bad.” Crys rolled their eyes at Barty, leaning back into the couch. Rubbing their face, they sighed out loud. “Partner. Sounds like a nice word. Kind of like that Shafiq girl you’re hanging around.”
At the mere mention of his ex-girlfriend, the Ravenclaw stiffened. Their break up was mutual, or so he had thought at the time. Now, he was just begging to never see her face again, which was hard. “Let’s be clear; that Shafiq girl is nothing but a nuisance, Crys. I’ve met better trained children than that girl, and it’s saying something.”
“So maybe, mixing Quintin Black with Liquid Luck was not the best decision.” Lidija made her confession amidst the panic, shoved around the common room in attempt to escape the celebration. “This party has really gotten out of hand.”
“You think? I have never been grabbed by so many sweaty hands in my life, this is disgusting!” Barty looked around the room, the imminent panic that Lidija was going through not entering his own system yet. “How about we just get Slughorn here to fix this mess up?”
“Shut up, shut up, d’you want to get us both into trouble?”
“You’re scared of a little slap on the wrist and detention? C’mon.”
“We learn the theory, we can build on it.” At least that was what Yasmin always says. “I’d rather learn this crap now and be able to make something new up later, than embarrass myself replicating some ancient know-it-alls ‘genius discovery’.”
“I can see where it’s coming from, and I respect your opinion. However, I do not agree with it.” It was as far as Barty would go to call a truce. Looking around the classroom again, he shook his head. “How much longer do you think this class will go on?”
“Could’ve been, might’ve been - whatever.” Gwen rolled her eyes at the irritated Ravenclaw, yet kept her tone quiet, hoping that Peeves wouldn’t hear. “You sound like a grumpy old man. What are you doing here alone anyway?”
“What’s it to you what I’m doing here?” Barty snapped back, before straightening up. He was reading a letter, from his father. The parchment was crumbled in his pocket, but his face softened. “You could always send one of the Prewetts after Peeves. I hear Gideon uses light charms on him.”
“Oh, what a relief,” she responded, sarcastic. “Yes? Isn’t that what every discovery ever is, the result of someone having nothing better to do than test some theory?”
“Maybe our own creativity should be encouraged then. Why sit and passively learn about how someone else discovered the use of Leviosa when your own potential could do something better?”
