does anyone know good irl space alt history because there's way too many bad ones

#i love spaceflight alt history #i still need to watch for all mankind #theres a movie ISS (2021) that absolutely sucks and it makes me so upset because the premise had so much potential #currently reading “the day lasts more than a hundred years” by chingiz aitmatov which kinda leans further into sci fi than alt history #conversely i will also be ok with “spaceflight through the lens of a country that doesnt do spaceflight” media (like aitmatov's book)#cuz thats really interesting #i know theres a bunch of alt history stuff in video games but its usually just a tiny reference and im not playing a whole game just for th #this is why im writing my own space station story right now (TEASER)) maybe ill post more about it

I want to make a more in depth post about this later but something I've really been wanting to talk about is the ISLE OF MAN'S SPACE PROGRAM.

Back during the initial commercial spaceflight craze a company in the Isle of Man decides to buy an old Russian Alamz space station and had plans of not only launching humans into space but also completing deep space missions????

None of it ever went anywhere but its just so funny to me, especially this quote "In 2010, the Isle of Man was named the fifth most likely nation to put the next person on the moon"

One of the Almaz parts is supposedly just kept outside this automotive museum in Jurby. And I *think* that's what I'm seeing on the satellite view right here, but if you go to street view nearby you can't see it so I don't know if it is still there.

If it is I definitely want to go see it lol, its just so random

I will always recommend Bryan Burrough’s Dragonfly: NASA and the Crisis aboard Mir. It is THE shuttle-mir book and contains many silly moments. It’s not perfect tho and I think the order the story is told is kinda weird and should be chronological. And I also think Jerry Linenger was misrepresented a little, just based on how I felt after reading his book “off the planet”

not perfect but still a 10/10 does that make sense
