Do you think Ralph set Johnny free before sacrificing himself? Do you think Ralph walked Johnny to the door and looking at him one last time before turning around and going into the basement? Because I don’t think Ralph would allow Johnny to even hear the process. Do you think during his dying moments after stabbing his heart Ralph thought of both of finally being free.

Something that also gets to me about how devoted Ralph was to Johnny is, some people have pointed it out in small parts before, but Johnny seems in, relatively good health? Other than his muscle atrophy from being stuck crouching/sitting in the cage for years, he doesn't seem to loose weight, his hair doesn't seem too brittle, he isn't getting sick. Obviously we don't see the every day, we get small snippets now and then once a year.

But, Ralph cooks for him, multiple times a day I persume, eventually he let's Johnny mull around the house with him after a while (the several separate scenes where they are sitting on the couch together talking, Johnny helping him wash dishes), he watches TV series and news in the basement so Johnny could at one point watch and then listen to it too, and then the one fucking scene of them playing Settlers of Khatan which fucking made me cackle my ass off.

But all in all, it seems like Ralph takes such good care of him. And like Johnny points out; he doesn't need to, but he does. Ralph cared about him so deeply.

Johnny seems like he's naturally a skinny guy, and he doesn't seem to age much even over 10 years, but maybe you could chalk that up to the art team not wanting to go through the process of slowly aging him through the ten years, but also a think they would have maybe given him some grey hairs or something after the stress that would put him through, but no, nothing. So if you see it as a story thing, then that means Ralph took such good care of him.

I just can't get over how much Ralph devoted himself to making sure Johnny was good and comfortable (albeit he could have...idk maybe padded that cage and give him some blankets...cause it seems Johnny got so used to/comfortable sleeping in the cage that he doesn't sleep anywhere else. Like ya could have given him at least a pillow dude-)

I've been suffering for hours thinking about the fact that Ralph never participated in any kind of religious tradition and never prayed in his life but that during the final decision of the game and in Stay with Me (the song in the credits) we can see him asking God for Johnny to stay by his side

Okay new vaguely domestic Ralph/Johnny rambling. Because I'm tired and having thoughts. But I'm thinking about Ralph helping Johnny find stuff to listen to. And how that might have went. Do they just sit there scrolling through podcasts until one sounds interesting? Does Ralph read out the descriptions of each one for him?

Like "I wanna listen to one of those...murder mysteries." to escape from like, his own shit that's going on with them with some horrible things that aren't quite so real to him and Ralph reads him the list. Probably judging a lot of them (and maybe low-key the coping method) but finding one that Johnny can get invested in and putting it on for him.

Like idk. There's something just really soft about that. Patiently finding something for him to enjoy. Maybe planning ahead when it comes down to...y'know sacrifice days. So he's listening to something that's easy enough to get invested in he can really focus on that instead of what's happening.

Soft moments between all the bad shit is just so important to me. 😮‍💨
