Disturbed described his emotions on this child. The stuttering and overly nervous poise he had directed at Shadow opened his eyes to maybe his alternate of himself was malicious and cruel.
That sure fit the description of many.
Kneeling down before the other, maroon pearls looked into those pools of blue. Those bright oceans revealing fear, anxiety. It was almost heart-wrenching. Almost.
“I assume by describing me as one of ‘those’ alternates, you have had a hence scarring negative experience with one of my many alternates. Your nervous exterior and the deep anxiety that faults deep in your subconscious is easy to see. A ‘Shadow’ of another world has had a negative effect in your life and due to your young age it most likely left mental scarring. I do want you to understand I do not intend to hurt you, I am simply curious as to where you came from, is all. How did you get here?”
The thought of bolting away in the opposite direction still hung strong in his mind, but he lacked the courage to take action in his fright. A coward? Maybe, maybe not, but he knew when a situation called for a retreat or retaliation, but this time he had neither option.
He had learned from his parents that Shadow was capable of reaching speeds on par with that of Sonic. If that wasn’t frightening, he didn’t know what was. The thought of a retreat on foot quickly shattered, and he tensed as the black hedgehog kneeled down.
But the fox cub was willing to listen, as his ears perked forward.
That last question however made him quickly look to his feet, as though in shame. Like a child who had done something he had specifically been told not to do.
This alternate hadn’t tried to hurt him and even told him he didn’t intend to...he supposed it wouldn’t hurt to explain his situation.
“My dad is really s-smart,” he starts, pulling out a hidden golden ring from his boot, only hesitating for a few seconds before showing it to Shadow, “and I only wanted to help... This thing was collecting dust in the back of his lab, and I though it was a a-abandoned project, and I thought maybe I could fix it.”
He paused, grip tightening on the ring, “it’s power was dead, and...uh..I connected it to a chaos drive...but then there was a bright flash...and uhh...”
