Hey Hey cool kids!
Here’s a quick update. I’m nearly done assembling my Blood Bowl team. Six players are almost ready for paint, and the remaining six need a little more cleanup.
As evidenced by the amount of green stuff on the slayer, I’ve not had a particularly good (or easy) time assembling these miniatures. Still, I really like the sculpts and I’m excited to get painting.

Here we go!
The time has come for me to present my first finished project of 2017, as well as my first real venture back into the hobby since 2014.
Essentially, Isaac found this miniature in France a few years back and I decided to use it to practice painting faces. With the face finished I put it aside and forgot about it for a few years. Flash forward to late 2016 and I find myself in the middle of a weeklong exam with a strong urge to paint. Ergo this.
While I do recognise that there is a lot of room for improvement, I feel sufficiently satisfied with my work to present it here.
It could be systematic! Hydromatic! funkomatic!

My plan was to have this finished by the end of last month, that plan obviously failed. This was, in most part, due to the startling realisation that I don’t own any of the necessary basing materials I required. Instead of a few cool shots of a finished model, I present you with this. (Hopefully a bit reminiscent of what they do over on Iron Sleet)
Funkadelic flow! XOXO- Joel
With quite a bit left to do on the model, and only a few days remaining before new years I thought it best to share a few progress shots.
I’ve essentially finished painting most of the dwarf and, with a few exceptions (namely the wooden parts of the shield and a belt), only the base and a few touch ups remain.
Without making any promises, I hope to finish this and bring you much more content in the coming year.
Keep funky fresh! XOXO- Joel
ps. Here’s a quick preview of an upcoming project
I’ve recently been getting back into my painting groove and, while I’ve not finished anything new, it’s well beyond time to share some details on my progress.
Firstly: I’ve resumed working on the Rackham dwarf. At this stage there’s at least a base layer on almost every area of the model.
Secondly: I’ve done a test press cast for the Kingdom Death: Monster bases, though the green stuff erases too much detail for my liking. I’ve also finished assembly on the Butcher and the Twilight Knight.
Finally: about two years ago I shared a picture of a base, however I never shared the model that was placed on the base. I can’t remember the reason for this blunder, but I hope this makes up for it.
Keep up the funky fresh funky flow! XOXO- Joel
Hello! I’ve painted the three termies showed before plus one more I converted. As I’m planning to complete a small force I decided not to put in too much effort - just enough to like them. The bases night be a bit to dark but at the same time I really feel that it’s necessary to make the models pop a bit. I played with the balance as to how grim I wanted them to look by adding the right amount of rust and green gunk. They should not be heroic space marines, nor completely evil slaves to chaos. I hope you like them! Isaac
So I spent way more time than is socially, professionally or morally acceptable on converting these three terminators from Space Hulk yesterday. I’ve cut and filed away most if not all iconography, sigils and such which will give me some area to do freehand on. I’ve added tubing, battle damage and exhaust pipes to give them a nurglesque look without having the models drenched in rot and mutations. There will probably be more to come! I’m thinking in the lines of guardsmen as cultists, assault marines as Raptors and so on. Have a nice day! Isaac
Hey oh. An update pic of my old diorama.
Hi! So here are some quite dark photos of the finished bridge which I posted some WIP pics of the other day. I skipped going for an all rusty metal as planned, and instead opted for the salt chipping method with a white overcoat. I also was a bit too eager wanting to paint the thing, so no ribs or anything else to indicate scale was added. I’m happy with the finished result and glad that I for the first time made something completely from scratch.
Have a nice day and feel free to reblog with some criticism! Isaac
Hello there! I’ve made this model of an old, industrial railway bridge in an overgrown river. Before painting I might add some rails to the base, and maybe some old ribs or something sticking out of the mud to give it more of an eerie vibe. After the painting is finished I’ll also add vegetation. I think it would be nice to paint the bridge in a vibrant, rusty orange, while painting the base vibrantly green to give more contrast between what is man made and what is natural beyond the contrast that already now is there as a result of the bridge’s sharp angles and the swamps rounded shapes. The finished model is supposed to be about man’s fight against nature and the world’s constant altering - that nothing is constant or forever. I hope you are having a nice day! Isaac
I just made this small model of a hydroponic growimg system for a school project. I had to make it in a rush which became very evident from the results. Oh well, it is lucky that it is merely for school and not something actually important like a miniature wargame. Have a nice day! Isaac
Here are some quick and dirty progress shots for the Kingdom Death miniatures I’ve assembled so far. The distinct lack of paint is due to me not having managed to come up with a good basing solution. I’ve only got 10 of the base inserts that the survivors are standing on, and none of them are bigger than 30mm which poses a problem both in terms of consistency (there are a lot more than 10 models) and how to treat the larger bases (of which there are plenty).
xoxo- Joel
ps. I recieved the Dung Beetle- and Flower Knight expansions the other day, one of which was a gift for Isaac. I make no promises, but you might see them sometime in the future.
Hello!
I know that my posts usually contain promises I don’t keep. This time, I won’t promise you anything. Instead, I’d like to share the contents of a package that I picked up today.
Pictured above are some of the contents of the Kingdom Death: Monster core game that I’ve been excitedly awaiting since late 2011. KD:M is the product of a wildly successful Kickstarter campaign and has, in my opinion, delivered a lot of intricately beautiful miniatures and an immenesly interesting story concept.
One day I hope to finish these models. Until then, xoxo- Joel
Ay ay my fellow Tumblerers! Here are two WIPs of my diorama base I’m working on. Here are some pics without the paint: http://bashinglads.tumblr.com/post/124834287721/yoyoyo-peeps-i-built-this-thing-yesterday-it Take care, and have a nice day! Isaac
Just a quick update:
A couple of days ago I began painting this mini. Thus far I've only finished the face, except for the pupils and eyebrows. All facial details are much more pronounced than what I'm used to with GW sculpts. This really helped with glazing as there were actual recesses were the glaze could dry.
Keep up the funky flow! xoxo- Joel
ps. I think it’s an old Rackham model from the late 90s
Yoyoyo peeps! I built this thing yesterday. It will be some sort of diorama featuring an Empire Huntsman shooting a bird, unaware of the big monster awakening from its slumber. The dragon monster itself is built out of a piece of bark with a rose thorn aswell as some sticks. I’m quite happy with the dangling roots in the cut-off corner of the base made out of some string. Now, I’ll just add some foam rubber moss and get to painting before starting with the actual models! I listened to this song while building it, gave me the right vibes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0l0L6-8rl4 Have a nice day! Isaac
