About #PUSO2019

There’s been a lot of fuss regarding who the host for FIBA Asia should be this 2019: China or The Philippines.

One thing every baller should know is that Pinoys take #BallIsLife to another level.

Whether it be a raging storm or a stifling hot day, every basketball court in the archipelagic nation is filled with people in knee-length shorts and a range of slippers, rubber shoes, or bare feet.

Though Pinoys, admittedly, are lacking in height compared to other giant-like players in other Asian countries, their heart makes up for it. Their love for the game is as strong as their love for their nation. When you ask a Filipino baller why they love the sport so much, they’d probably respond with:

‘Di ko rin alam bakit. (I don’t even know why.)

Basta gusto ko lang. (I just like it.)

Masaya kasi. (It’s fun.)

Buhay ko to, eh. Mahal ko to. (It’s my life. I love it.)

But as it turns out, #PUSO2019 was not to be. After a sparking debate over who the host should be, FIBA broke every Filipino’s heart, baller or not, with just a simple decision and a placard holding up China.

However, fear not my fellow countrymen, soon it’ll be our time. Baka hindi pa natin oras para ipakita ang ating tunay na pagmamahal. When the country will be more developed and the government will financially and morally improve, soon, tayo din ang magwawagi.
