The Bride is on her way to you.
Bat For Lashes
There’s an audacity to asking your audience for a special favor before a show even begins. But Bat For Lashes’ request that the audience don their finest wedding attire for Natasha Khan and co.’s small run of intimate shows is one that makes sense.

It’s about how many times you want to repeat the same pattern of thinking that, once you find the love of your life, everything is complete? Can you transmute that fairytale beginning and get to a place of truth and reality? That’s the greatest struggle for relationships today. All that excitement has to die down, and the death of romance has to occur so the relationship can move into something that is grounded in seeing a person as they truly are […] It really reminds me of the skeleton woman story in the “Women Who Run With the Wolves” book, which every couple who’s going to get married should read. It’s a beautiful story about a man seeing the ugliest part of this woman and having compassion for that, and managing to love her anyway. I think so many relationships go through all those early stages, like, “I’m going to go fishing and find a juicy fish today.” And as soon as they hook onto something real they’re like, “fuck this.” Men and women—I’ve had so many friends go through that. And I wonder, Where is our depth as human beings? The Bride is about that love story, but also about your own love story, and managing to be all right about that.

“Khan walked down down the aisle in a red gown and black veil to take her place on the candle-lit stage. In the process, the evening was transformed into a stunning piece of conceptual art…" WORSHIPPING AT THE ALTAR OF BAT FOR LASHES
