Hi my little flower petals and welcome to the meadow. Feel free to enjoy some piece and quiet from the world outside and spend some time here, so grab a nice drink and some snacks and read the night away.
My asks are always open and I'll try my best to write a response for all of them.
Here marks the start of recognising the feelings between the two of them, lets hope nothing else bad happens *wink wink*. Yes, this is supposed to be a slow-burn but I've always seemed to struggle with them a little so I hope this lands the way I wanted it to. Constructive criticism is still welcome and my asks are always open so feel free to suggest any ideas you might have. Enjoy my little flower petals <3

Waking up was a slow, agonising process of stitching the world back together, piece by piece. The last thing you remember was being helped on to Louis’ back and the clinging grip he had on your legs. The stench of walker guts had completely dissipated, instead replaced with the familiar smell of Ruby’s antiseptic. When you finally managed to force your eyelids open, you were greeted with the sight of the infirmary ceiling. The cracks that you had memorised before, effortlessly created a satisfying puzzle. Instinctively, you tried to sit up but were met with the white-hot flare of agony as your abdomen contracted. A sharp, involuntary gasp caught in your throat.
“Don’t you dare move a muscle.” A southern accent had arisen the second your body recoiled back into the plush surface of the medical cot beneath you. Ruby had made her way from the foot of the bed to step into your line of sight, a firm grip on your good side, looking every part of a military field medic. “Your ribs are completely black and blue. You’re damn lucky that nothing’s broken but one wrong move and your chest is gonna seize up and you won’t be able to breathe.” A floorboard creaked near the door as Marlon stepped forwards out the shadows of the room, his expression a mix of heavy exhaustion and genuine relief. He rubbed the back of his neck, giving you an apologetic nod.
“She’s right, Marlon chimed in, his voice low and firm. “I spoke to Clem and apparently you’ve been pushing yourself since this Richmond place went to shit. Ruby’s decided mandatory bedrest, no arguments and I’m all for it. You’ve more than proved your right to stay here but your body’s hit a wall and you need to rest.” Ruby nodded sharply, adjusting the blanket over your legs as a means to avoid the desperation in your eyes.
“You’re not allowed to move unless it’s to eat or drink, and someone has to help you sit up so you don’t screw up your ribs further. Because of that, people are gonna be in and out to check on you and look after you. The second I catch you trying to slip out this bed I will have Marlon tape you to it. I mean it.” You let your head sink further into the pillows at her words, frustration causing a lump to form in your throat. For someone as stealthy as yourself, being trapped in a loud, creaking cot under a constant watchful eye was its own kind of torture. Every muffled sound from the courtyard - the heavy thud of chopped logs, the distant laughter of the other kids – felt like an insanely personal reminder as to just how useless you’d become.
But the hardest part of the day was when Clementine brought AJ to come see you. The kid was boiling over with energy when he practically bounced into the room. He rushed straight to the side of the bed, hands eagerly reaching to your right hand placed beside you.
“You’re awake!” He chirped, leaning even closer, almost trying to clamber onto the bed next to you. “Clem said you’d be okay. Look, I put the guitar by the door so no-one can get it. Does this mean you can play it now? Can you sing that lullaby again? The one about the special tree?” You looked down at him to meet his eyes, your heart aching far worse than your chest was. You mouth stammered as you tried to whisper reassuring words to the small child but just forcing the air up past your throat caused the pain in your ribs to rise. That same torment from before flared through your left side, stealing your breath in an instant. Your jaw clamped shut, only causing more discomfort from where that stranger had punched you, as a pained hiss slipped past your teeth. AJ’s face dropped instantly. The excitement and glee vanished from his eyes, replaced by an uncharacteristic look of pure dread. The steps he took back were slow; his bottom lip trembled as he turned to meet Clementine’s expression.
“She’s broken.” AJ’s whisper was thick with disappointment and it tore through you. “She can’t even talk to me, Clem. She can’t sing.” Your friend was quick in dropping to her knees and placing a grounding hand on his shoulder, pulling him gently to look at her face-to-face.
“She has to rest goofball. These past few years of looking out for us have finally caught up. Let’s give her a bit of space, I’m sure she’ll be more than happy to sing the lullaby when she’s better.” You could see the nod of his head in the very corner of your eye. When the door finally clicked shut, the silence in the room was a fate deemed worse than death. Silence was your thing, not the environment’s around you. For the first time in a while, you actually missed the sound of AJ playing with the cylinder of his revolver and the witty remarks Clem would have when it got on her nerves. You stared at the worn ceiling, fighting with your thoughts and the suffocating guilt of letting your little brother down. A stinging heat behind your eyes began to rise as you thought about his words: ‘She’s broken’. You were, and it was your fault. If you were more careful, shot sooner or even pushed that man into the window earlier, maybe, just maybe, you would’ve been able to run with them back to the safety of the school. It wasn’t long before memories of your father’s words echoed against AJ’s. ‘Broken’, ‘your fault’, ‘you did this!’. You had done this, shattered that little boy’s hope and admiration for you. You couldn’t protect them like this; you couldn't protect them for the next few weeks. A gentle knock at the door finally made your brain shut up. You turned your head slightly to get a look at who would enter. The heavy oak door creaked, filling the silence for just a moment. Louis stepped into the room, his usual theatrical stride completely devoid of him. His eyes darted across your entire body. The way your eyes looked like they were holding back tears, your left hand resting across your side, your right laid beside you, the way the blanket covered your form. Then, his eyes stopped at your jaw, gentle layers of purple illuminated by the candle he held. His expression held a strange intensity that you were yet to see from him. You let your head move to look away from him and stare stubbornly out the dusk window opposite you. Helpless, tearful and relying on others was not something you wanted to be associated with let alone seen like. You braced yourself for a loud joke, a sappy song, or even a dramatic comment about the looming grim atmosphere. The room, however, stayed silent. The floorboards groaned as Louis dragged a low wooden stool over to the side of your bed; a gentle echo of wood as he picked up the guitar and sat with it in his lap. When you let your eyes drift back to him, you didn’t feel that needle-like warning across your skin. It was like your survival radar had been turned off.
“Hey.” His voice was soft, similar to the tone he had with you in the music room. You watched as his hands grazed across the strings at the neck of the guitar. “You know, AJ practically snatched this thing from me when he saw me faffing with it. I was trying to tune it but I don’t think I’ve done it right.” That was soon proven to be correct as he strummed a severely off-tune D major chord. “Tough crowd, huh?” You were more inclined to listen to Ruby’s guidance this time round and barely moved. Any breaths you took were short and shallow to minimise the damage you’d done. A small tear took advantage of the lack of movement and traced a wet line down your cheek. Louis choked on his own breathing, the easy-going façade fractured for second as his eyes grew dark with a sudden, fierce protectiveness. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his signature playing cards. It was worn and well-loved, only held together by a straining rubber band. You hadn’t noticed just how used the cards were when you played ‘War’ the other night. He placed the guitar to lean against the bedside table before stripping the cards of their make-shift container and shuffling. The rhythmic clack-clack-clack of the cards riffling together filled the quiet prison, a familiar comfort sound Louis turned to when he was trying to think.
“I know you’re worried about the little man,” He murmured, eyes fixed on his hands as he expertly cut the deck. “But AJ isn’t wrong. You are a little broken right now. Which means you can’t protect everyone today. You have to let us protect you.” That was the moment you thought he was a mind-reader. First, he flawlessly captured your emotions through the song he played and now he said your exact thoughts. He flashed you his trademark grin, flipping a single card over to show you. The Queen of Hearts. He placed it gently onto his knee before looking back to you. “Marlon told me what’s happening and about the rules. No moving, lifting or being useful. So, I figured since you’re officially trapped, I’m initiating Phase One.” You gave a faint, questioning tilt of your head, your brows furrowing in confusion.
“Phase One of my solemn vow,” A hint of his dramatic flair returned as he slid the cards into a neat fan between his fingers. “I promised I’d make you laugh everyday and since that is currently off the table because laughing would probably kill you, we’re going to play a game. On the daily, low stakes, limited moving required.” He leaned in slightly, holding the fan in your line of sight. “Every afternoon, I’ll come see you and you pick a card. Highest wins. If I win, I get to tell a terrible joke. And if you win… Well, you don’t have to listen to it. Deal?” You stared at the cards, then up to his overly hopeful expression. The heavy knot in your stomach started to loosen, only slightly, but it was loosening.
“Come on, just point to the one you want,” He coaxed, tapping the edge of the deck. “Don’t leave me hanging, my shuffling skills are highly sought after.” Yielding to his otherworldly persistence, you lifted your right hand slowly to tap at the central card in the fan. Sliding the card with a dramatic flourish, he flipped it to show you. An Ace. A tiny, breathless puff of air escaped your nose, not quite a giggle but a clear sign of defeat as the ghost of a smile haunted your lips. He was beaming. A triumphant grin completely highlighting his face as the candle flickered against his features and he gathered the rest of the deck.
“See? Ace beats my Queen. You won, which means you technically get a pass on today’s joke. But since I’m so generous, I’ll tell it to you anyways.” He cleared his throat, leaning back slightly into the stool. “What’s a walker’s favourite instrument? The trom-bone. Though personally, I think they would much prefer the organ.” You let out another wheezing huff, eyes rolling in playful judgement. Louis’ smile grew as he re-tied the deck and set it down on the bedside table within your reach.
“Progress. Day one is officially a success.” He stood up smoothly, letting himself look at you once more before his smile faltered. It was only slight, but that quiet focus he had when he walked in returned. “Get a bit more rest, Ruby will be in later to help you eat. Don’t worry about AJ, hunting or chores. I’ll make sure everything gets handled. For now, just focus on getting better so you can fix my terrible tuning. See you tomorrow for round two.” And with a gentle tug at the off-key guitar strings, he left. The room soon fell silent again and you let yourself relax. For the first time in a long while, you finally felt safe and at peace. These people took you three in with open arms and you felt grateful they found you in that wreck. You let yourself drift, the thought of food soon lulling you into a state between consciousness and sleep. It was fitful and uneasy, but you were eventually able to rest. That wouldn’t last too long as the darkness soon brought up your past:
The air was thick with the suffocating stench of smoke and wet ash. You were back in the old quarry camp-the loud, fragile community you’d called home years ago, just before you met the Whisperers, back when high concrete walls and noisy generators were supposed to mean safety. A siren was wailing in the distance, the high, mechanical screeching signalled that the gates had failed. Someone was shouting after you, their voice distorted by panic as walkers flooded the perimeter. You had been so clumsy back then. You didn’t know how to hide. You didn’t know how to move without making a sound. You hadn’t learnt anything that you knew now and, unfortunately, you never had control of these horrific dreams. A heavy, violent hand clamped onto your shoulder from the chaos, spinning you around. The phantom needle-like pricks exploded across your skin like a wave of electricity, a blinding warning flare that you were trapped-
Your body bolted upright with a sharp, pained gasp as a searing pain jolted in your ribs. You felt the muscles tug at your lungs, forcing shallow breaths from your chest. Clutching at your left side, you watched as black, swaying spots swam through your vision. Your heart was hammering, like someone was drumming relentlessly, forcing your upper body to recoil as you shoved your way into the wall behind you. Trembling, your eyes darted across every shadowed spot in the room. Your mind was in pieces, torn between the burning remnants of the quarry and the dark woods that came after- the months you’d spent learning to survive along side the Whisperers, forcing yourself to become a silent, breathing shadow just to survive.
“Hey. Hey, look at me. It’s okay, you’re okay.” The voice was soft but steady like an anchor, tearing through the fading ruins of the nightmares about your past lives. Your breathing was hoarse and ragged as you looked towards the foot of the bed, your skin remaining frightfully calm. That horrific needle-like warning from the quarry vanished instantly. There was no danger flare. As you took more deliberate glances round the room, your gaze settled on a panic-stricken Louis sat on the stool beside you. His usual grin was completely gone, instead, it had been replaced by a deep concern as he watched your shaking form, his shoulders were tensed as if he had been resisting the urge to reach out and steady you.
“You’re at the school. In the office, remember?” His words came out in a murmur; it was gentle in the twilight room you were holed. “Clem and AJ are fine. It was just a dream.” You let your forehead rest against your knees at his words. You had to force your breathing to slow so that the blinding pain in your ribs could subside.
“Ruby?” The word drifted and lingered in the air as you whispered it. Letting your breathing form a pattern, you looked over at the dreadlocked man for an answer.
“Mitch managed to get his leg caught in a rusty snare while they were out today. She’s outside with him, patching him up.” He stopped for a moment to pull the ceramic bowl from the bedside table where he had set it prior to you waking up. “I told her I’d make sure you eat tonight since she’ll be busy sewing up his leg. Said if you tried to get out of bed, I have permission to sit on you.” He shifted in his seat slightly, a gentle tinge of pink coating his cheeks. He didn’t press about your nightmare nor did he try to lighten everything with a stupid joke. Instead, he just sat there, keeping a respectful distance, offering a quiet but secure presence for you to bask in.
“It smells pretty good. Curtesy of Omar.” Louis hummed at you, pushing the bowl towards you a little before continuing. “Let’s try get some down you before Ruby comes to check my work.” You looked at the bowl in his hands; the savoury aroma of rabbit and wild herbs swirled in the air. Your stomach let out an aggressive cry, a harsh reminder that you hadn’t eaten properly since the night you all got here- that being a couple days ago by now.
“Alright,” His voice akin to that of your footsteps in the quiet atmosphere. “Barely any moving required, just take it and eat.” You watched him intently, your body completely still. Usually, having someone sit this close while you were vulnerable would have triggered a suffocating wave of panic. It was a lingering reflex from your time moving through the dark with the Whisperers, where a sudden approach from a pack member typically meant teeth, a challenge, or a knife. Your eyes tracked his fingers, waiting for that familiar, needle-like warning to flare up on your skin. But your radar stayed entirely silent. Louis’s presence felt as light and harmless as the rising steam. Slowly, you braced your core so you could lift your hands to meet his and take the bowl from him so you could satiate your hunger. The second your arms came a few inches from where they were, your bruised ribs contracted in a sharp protest. A hot, stabbing jolt flared straight across your left side. Your breath caught, a pained hiss slipping past your teeth as your eyes watered, helpless at the fact you couldn’t even feed yourself through the pain. Louis didn't pull the food back, and he didn't rush you. Instead, his eyes darted to your shaking fingers, a deep, aching patience washing over his face. He was clearly trying to navigate the teenage awkwardness of the moment- desperately wanting to keep you comfortable without making things weird like yesterday morning’s mishap in the clinic- but his posture shifted into something steady and resolute.
"Hey, don't force it," he said quickly, his voice dropping into that rare, completely stripped-down tone he only used when the two of you were alone. "Ruby said if you strain those muscles even more tonight, there’s a chance they’ll lock up entirely. Just lean back against the pillows. I've got it. Deal?" You watched him as his cheeks flushed a little more at his thoughts as he dipped the wooden spoon into the broth, blowing on it softly to cool it down. He held the spoon out toward you, keeping his hand remarkably steady.
"Airplane rules apply," he whispered, a faint yet familiar smirk finally fighting its way back onto his lips as he tried to lighten the heavy atmosphere. "No moving required. Just eat." You gave him a flat, highly sceptical glare, a subtle raise of your eyebrow making your judgment entirely clear. You weren't a child, and you certainly weren't AJ. Louis couldn't help the small laugh that escaped him at your expression. "Look, I can make the engine noises if it helps, but I think Clementine would fight me. Just take the stew. You need the strength if you're ever going to show me how to tune that guitar properly." The mention of the guitar hit its mark. Yielding to the dull ache in your stomach and the quiet persistence of his posture, you leaned your head forward just a fraction- careful not to aggravate your side- and accepted the food from his hand. The broth was warm, thick, and instantly took the chill out of your chest. The brief, quiet cooperation sent a strange shift through the atmosphere, making the remaining tension between you feel suddenly soft.
"See? Teamwork," Louis whispered, a relieved smile finally breaking across his face as he dipped the spoon back into the bowl, his movements patient as he waited for you to be ready for the next one. "We'll take the rest of the night slow." As you sat there, the rhythmic sound of the spoon clicking against the edge of the bowl became the only noise in the office. The terrifying, smoky remnants of the quarry dream began to wash away, replaced by the steady, breathing reality of the boy sitting beside you. You still didn't have the words to tell him how much this safety meant to you, and you were completely blind to the fact that his heart was hammering against his chest just from being this close. But for the first time in years, as the twilight faded into true night, you felt like you could actually afford to rest.
The journey to the train station was slow but uneventful with only the occasional walker. Any that did show up were taken out swiftly by your combat knife. It had seen better days but it did the job.
“It looks dull…” AJ could see the edge of your blade growing more blunt with every use.
“Hey, we might find a sharpening kit or something when we’re there.” Clem had also noticed the state of your weapon and had even offered hers to you a few times. She needed it more than you, so every suggestion was refused. Louis watched you intently as you walked. Every step had only made his curiosity grow. Even Clementine wasn’t as quiet as you were and he guessed that you two must’ve been friends for a while. His eyes stayed glued to your boots, the sound of his jokes completely absent. He was trying to figure out the contradiction of your stride-how you managed to step with such absolute, silent caution, yet carried yourself with an unshakeable sense of purpose. You, however, were more focused on the blooming friendship between Violet and Clementine. They seemed closer than the other night. Violet was more open and you even wondered what they talked about, if anything, on their way to the fishing shack before this mission took place. Their conversation was quiet but comfortable, they weren’t discussing a plan or anything, more just trying to get to know each other. It was almost strange; the sound that surrounded you was between the lovely ladies in front of you and not the over-zealous flirt beside you. You wondered why he hadn’t said anything, since you arrived the only thing he did was speak. It was quick, but the glance you directed towards Louis told you most of what you were wondering. He was staring through your soul. That needle feeling never arose though like it did with Willy. You began to think of a few instances when his staring didn’t trigger your radar. In the music room, nothing. Even while you were all playing war, you knew he was eyeing you up, but again, no pins or anything that even came somewhat close. Your wondering only grew to the thought of this morning. If he was indeed following you, why didn’t you hear him or get that feeling like normal? A small grunt tore you from your thought as you looked to see AJ tripping over the cobbled path.
“What are you up to goofball?” Clem noticed his overly large steps and the care he took into not tripping again.
“I’m doing the silent steps.” He whispered, not taking his eyes from his shoes as he planted them in the dirt. “Just like MC does. Heel then toe. See? The monsters will never hear me coming.” You giggled gently at his admiration of you as Clem glanced your way to find you drifting effortlessly against the ground. Her smile softened at the contrast between you walking with grace and AJ mimicking a show-horse trot.
“You have to remember that she’d been doing this for years AJ. Even before she met us.”
“I remember.” AJ finally looked up to meet her eyes, his expression dead serious. “I want to be just like her. Sneak up on the walkers and protect you like she does for us.” Clementine placed a gentle hand on his shoulder before telling to at least watch where he was going since: “Being quiet doesn’t help if you trip over a tree root.” AJ nodded quickly and looked at you taking a deep breath. You watched as his body got slightly lower, allowing him a better chance at recreating your stance. Letting yourself slow, you judged his stance and corrected anything that was slightly askew. Louis admired the way you taught him, not telling him something was wrong but instead just nudged the parts of his body slowly bringing them to a better position. You pulled at his shoulders to encourage the little kid to loosen up a bit and moved your hands to his elbows to give more of a fighting stance similar to your own. He watched as AJ’s smile beamed at you and it tugged at his heartstrings. You seemed so mysterious all the time, but now you were showing some hell of a paternal instinct to make sure the kid knew what he was doing. He’d spent the past day to try crack your silent exterior and finally find the answer to your riddling silence. But seeing how you acted with and around AJ? There wasn’t a riddle to be solved, it was just pure, unshielded warmth. A few more thoughts swam around his brain as he watched you. The way you schooled AJ to the way you scanned the surrounding area. Even the way you looked over Violet and Clem. He felt safe around you, like the way he felt safe around Marlon. As you stood, your body effortlessly mirrored AJ’s now perfect stealth stance. Your eyes trailed the treeline as the train station came into view. It looked worse than when you were there days prior. Walkers had completely taken over the perimeter, and you made a few guesses as to what Clementine would have you do. While you and Clem were making mental notes of the area, Violet finally spoke up.
“Why do you keep looking at her like that?” Louis became so flustered in that moment; he was lucky it was dark. He was so intrigued, how could he not stare?
“Looking at her like what?” He barely managed to quip back at the blonde. “Jealous it’s not you I’m staring at?”
“Dude… Ew, no.” You only rolled your rolled your eyes at their antics, sharing a look with Clem before giving her the ‘what’s the plan’ look.
“Give me a minute.” You followed her gaze towards the station and listened to her mumbles about the bell and the cargo holds. The few minutes that Clem took at think up a plan weren’t exactly silent. Violet and Louis had started a bickering war behind you and you saw the struggle in Clementine’s eyes as she couldn’t focus. You cleared your throat with a dry wretch as you turned towards them. That was clearly all that was needed, since you managed to get someone’s attention.
“Right… Sorry, being quiet.” There was a nervousness to his voice as Louis apologised.
“So, you won’t shut up if I tell you, but you do when MC does. I see what’s happening.” Violet continued with her teasing before she caught the glare you threw at her.
“Yeah, sorry.”
It took a little longer than you thought, but Clementine eventually came up with a plan. Your group needed one hell of a distraction. She explained how one of you could use the bell against the old shipping containers to make a racket and distract the walkers, which should leave plenty of room for those going inside to get past safely.
“Louis, I vote Louis.” Violet seemed more than happy to send Louis to be the distraction, but the gentle ache in your chest said otherwise.
“Uh hold on, I’d like to make an alternate suggestion”
“Come on Lou. You're loud, dramatic, a little annoying… You're basically a walking distraction.”
“I think you mean charming and theatrical. Entertaining is another word that comes to mind. Charismatic.”
“See what I mean?” You did in fact see what she meant, although Louis did not seem to agree.
“Okay, Prince Charming, Let’s see those talents in action.” Clem looked hopefully at him; you matched her eyes as you looked over to Louis. It was almost like looking at a sad puppy, how could he possibly say no?
“I can’t say no to a face like that.” His eyes lingered in yours before standing and declaring he’d make sure that walker Louis would eat all of you first. That’s when you came in, while Louis was distracting them and Clem, AJ and Violet got inside, you were thinning the heard. Taking out stray ones in the back and by the edges to make sure the get away was clean. While eliminating the rear walkers, someone caught your eye. The hairs on your body stood like soldiers while that familiar needle pricked at your neck. That person was staring. Violet had strayed from the door to focus her cleaver on walkers travelling up the stairs. That was unfortunately enough time for the person to slip by unnoticed. You debated if the walkers left would be manageable by the other two and ran so you could catch the stranger off guard.
The floorboards creaked beneath the scavenger, as they walked towards the ticket booth. They were armed. Gun in the left, cigarette in the other. They were the one who messed with the traps, surely. You watched as he held Clem at gunpoint, demanding that she fill one of the bags nice and slow. She listened to his demand and started to fill the bag for him. Stepping forward, you made sure to keep out of his line of sight when you attempted to disarm him. Only that didn’t work the way you wanted to; AJ stood from the hatch, jars of food in hand.
“Well, hey there, squirt. Playing hide and seek, are we?” The man stared at him, his gun shifting in his palm as he pointed it towards the young child. AJ responded in kind, returning the gesture with his revolver.
“Now that’s impolite.”
“Don’t steal from us.” AJ’s voice was stern and dripping with malice.
“I’m not stealing, this stuff isn’t exactly yours either.” He wasn’t lying about it not being yours, but we found it first.
“I-I can kill you, you know.” The boy must’ve been terrified and putting on a brave face since Clementine’s life was on the line.
“Come on, kid. I’m faster than you. Listen up, squirt, you're gonna quit pointing that gun at me, and let me go my merry way, you understand?” You all worked hard to get this, so like fuck were you gonna let him take your earnings. Your hands shook slightly as you reached for his gun and pulled him back. Twisting his wrist, you caught the firearm as he unwillingly let go. You aimed it at him.
“Back up.” The words were cold, spine-chilling, as you ordered him away from your friends. Clem instructed AJ to keep filling the bags since you had the man in check.
“What the fuck!?” Violet saw the commotion and stopped at the sight of your temporary hostage.
“Just take a bag and fill it up!” Everything after that happened so fast. The man had kicked your left side, the pain in your ribs was excruciating but luckily, adrenaline was your lifeline. The shot you fired was deafening; it hit your mark, straight into the mans upper arm. His eyes flickered with disgust as held his arm and you held your chest in return. Footsteps could be heard behind you as your three comrades escaped. A mild pain shot through your jaw as the man forced himself at you. You returned the favour and shoved him into the decaying window where some walkers grabbed him. The time you had to leave was running out, but the stranger did not seem to want to go alone.
“You bitch!” The words were that of pure rage as he grasped at your sleeve bringing you closer to the window. The trigger was warm when you fired your second shot into his hand, leaving a small blood trail from your arm where you had caught yourself trying to get away from him. The walkers started to flow in through the front door as well. Stealth was no longer an option. A few fell as you let off more and more shots, before the pistol started dry firing. ‘Shit’. Abandoning the now useless arm, you equipped your knife and started surviving.
“We can’t just leave her!” AJ was so worried about your well-being that Clem and Violet had to hold him back so he couldn’t chase after you.
“You heard the shots… She’s probably fine.” They tried to comfort him all while Louis stared at the walker-infested station. Watching Clementine and Violet ease AJ’s nerves only made the knot in his stomach tighten. How could they know you’d be safe? How were they so sure? He knew that you and Clem had a history and that she trusted you with her life, but it was your life on the line and no-one was doing anything. Nothing at all. The usually loud boy was at a loss for words. It was only a few hours ago that you were crying in the music room and now you were possibly being torn apart by those fucking monsters.
“Louis, we can’t stay here. More are coming this was and you have to fucking move!” Violet’s words pierced him in a retching, foreign way. Why did he care so much? You were new and, with that logic, easy to lose.
“LOUIS!” Her hands grabbed him while he was fighting with his thoughts. He could only watch as the train station got further and further from view. ‘We left her’. The words played like a broken record begging to have the pin moved so it could rest. They soon slowed down when they were a decently safe distance from the scene of the crime. His heart was racing. His chest tightened as he fell to the floor. Tears started falling as soon as he convinced himself it was his fault. His breath was strangling him as he fought with himself to breathe.
“Louis,” AJ’s words were small in comparison to the situation. “She’ll be okay.”
“How do you know that!?” He snapped. “We’ve just fucking left her for dead! How the hell are you so calm!?” He wasn’t angry, more like scared and Clementine could see it. She knew you’d be fine because she’s seen you survive worse, but he didn’t know that. For the first time, his jokes felt utterly useless, completely stripped from his personality to reveal a raw, aching desperation he’d never had to handle before.
“Listen to me.” Clementine spoke, calming undertones to serious words. “I’ve seen her survive things way worse than this. I know that she’ll be fine and you don’t have to believe me, but we have to get back to everyone else.”
“What if she needs help?” His words became a whisper as he choked out his question.
“Ten minutes.” That was the amount of time AJ guessed it would take you to escape and catch up with them. The guilt in his head made Louis sick, almost literally. He held his face as waves of nausea came and went. Since he could barely move on his own, Violet and Clementine helped lean him against a tree while AJ tried to encourage him to eat something. The minutes that passed where long and harrowing. It was like Louis was the one dying, his few memories of you playing on repeat. Nothing could pull him from it, not even the stumbling and collapsing of walkers around him. He dreaded to think of you as one of them, what if he was the one that had to watch your skull get bashed in by his own hand?
Clementine noticed a different sound coming from the grass around them. Something familiar and safe.
“MC?” She had strayed from the other three slightly to make sure there weren’t any more walkers ready to get the ambush on the party member currently incapable of defending himself let alone even stay conscious. Violet saw what was going on and flew to Clementine’s side as more walkers just kept coming.
“I thought I heard her Vi.” She sounded nearly defeated. The two of them fought of the stragglers together. The blonde could tell that Clem was scared for you and putting on a brave face for AJ since he still needed her.
“There’s one more!” Pulling her cleaver from her most recent kill, Violet confirmed the last one’s whereabouts with Clementine. She raised her knife, more than ready to plunge it through the skull of the enemy. That was until you raised your arm, her knife ripping through your shirt and leaving a small laceration in your forearm. Her amber eyes met yours as she realised you were alive, a painful wave of relief washing over her. The heat in your side started to become too much as the adrenaline finally started to wear off.
“What the hell are you-“ Violet choked on her own words as she realised who Clem was helping.
“She made it!”
As you sank heavily into the grass, your fingers finally uncurled from the object you had been dragging through the dirt. A hollow, wooden thud echoed against the forest floor. Clementine stared down at it, her jaw dropping in utter disbelief. Behind the grime and the foul stench of walker camouflage, your right hand was firmly gripping the neck of your battered, partially cracked acoustic guitar. You had recovered it from the wreck of the car-and you had refused to drop it, even when the world was collapsing around you.
"Are you kidding me?" Violet muttered, a sharp, disbelieving laugh escaping her lips as she stepped closer. She rubbed a hand over her face, the immense tension leaving her shoulders all at once. "You almost got eaten for a piece of wood? You’re absolutely insane."
“You found the guitar!” AJ gasped, his eyes darting from your bruised face to the instrument you protected. “Can you play it? I want to hear your lullaby again!” Clem just shook her head, a mix of profound relief and frustration laughing through her chest as she wiped a smear of walker innards from your face.
“Only you,” she whispered softly. “Only you would prioritise music during a horde like that.” Clem took the instrument from your side and let AJ take it from her. She put your arm over her shoulders so you could steady yourself, though the pain was near agonising and forced you to collapse to the ground. Wheezing, you grasped at your side.
“Let me see.” Clementine helped you to the ground before lifting your shirts out the way and examined just how red your ribs had gotten. “I don’t think you’ll be able to walk all the way back…” she let herself pause as a sigh fell from her lips. “Not like this.”
“I’ll carry her.” A deeper voice had come into earshot. Louis had finally stood up, faint tear lines down his face. He was glad you were alive, but damn did you scare him. His voice was breathless as he looked at you; after everything that happened, a genuine smile found its way to his face. Clem helped you onto his back, making sure you wouldn’t suffer anymore than you already did. Dinner would be a bit later than usual but you were all alive, so that must’ve counted for something. Louis could feel your breathing against the back of his neck, it was soft and a bit deeper compared to when you were struggling on the ground. He watched as your arms fell limp around his front, you deserved good rest after that shit show.
It had been a couple more hours before Clem got up to meet you at the bottom of the stairs. She asked about last night and if you were okay since you weren’t in bed when the two of them woke. Nodding, you walked up the stairs with her until a girl’s voice called you.
“Hey MC, do you have a few minutes? I’d like to check you over to see if you should be sent out.” It was Ruby, wanting to do a routine check since your injuries seemed to be the worst out of all of you. An affirmative hand was placed on your shoulder as you looked over to Clementine saying that she’d be fine. Using your usual silent steps, you followed Ruby to the nurse’s office (attention drifting slightly to a young Tenn running out the doors) so she could scan over your bruising. In order to see everything though, it meant stripping. ‘I mean… she must’ve taken them off before, plus it’s for medical purposes.’ You hated having to take clothes off in front of people, even your best friend. It always felt like a strange bend in your rule, despite speech not being a requirement. You pulled your jeans down to your ankles and rolled up the leg of your shorts, the bruising painfully obvious. While Ruby was eyeing up your leg, poking and prodding the deeper hues, you were getting your shirts up and over your head. You had thought about just pulling them up but because of where a lot of the bruising was, it was just easier to hold up your bra by itself to reduce the amount of strain your body mostly likely couldn’t hold. That was how it was turning out up to the point when the door flung open. No-one moved… You didn’t cover yourself; Ruby only stared at the doorway; eyes focussed on the uninvited guest in question; a deep red blush formed across their face. It was like that for a few long seconds before everyone finally processed it.
“I AM SO SOR-“
“GET THE FUCK OUT LOUIS!” The tender redhead exploded as she shoved at the man with the door.
“LEARN HOW TO KNOCK!” You, on the other hand, did a 180, strained your ribs and covered your front. ‘What the hell could he want so badly that it couldn’t wait five minutes?’ Louis put up a small fight in an attempt to tell you something, but Ruby wasn’t having it and had him wait until you were checked and sorted. Apologising on his behalf, she continued to look over your ribs and pressed in the darker spots to see how tender you were. There were a few small sighs where the pain was looming but it was concluded that indeed nothing was broken and you’d be fine as long as you’re careful. You dressed yourself again and were hesitant to open the door since the tapping from the man’s foot could be heard against the planks below. Composing yourself, you opened the door to face the intruder, glaring at him for his past actions. The blush dusted across his cheeks still hadn’t settled.
“Uh, you’ll never guess who you get to spend the day with.” The grin on his face grew, yet his eyebrows told you the embarrassment was very much evident. There were steps behind him as Clem came into view.
“You don’t mind if we split up, do you? Marlon said both groups due to go out could do with extra hands.” Her explanation wasn’t flawed and she clearly had no clue what had just taken place. Groaning quietly, you shook your head. There was a faint smile that found home against her features.
“I’m going with Violet and Brody, which means you’ll be hunting with Aasim and this one.” A sharp, fluid movement brought her hand up to point at the trespasser. He was still smiling but the blush grew a few shades redder as his eyes met yours. You nodded. This was probably the worst thing you could’ve been asked to do. He’s made you cry, cheered you up and now embarrassed himself in front of you. How perfect. The look in your eyes told him ‘No funny business’ and he knew you meant it. The smile that had been holding him together finally cracked as he gulped his nerves down. If looks could kill, he’d be a dead man. You let him walk with you to the gate, still slightly sour at what he’d done.
“I really didn’t mean to, I’m sorry. Like, I’m really sorry.” His apologies fell on partially deaf ears; you were not in the mood and just wanted to forget about it. Greeting Aasim at the entrance, you tried to put a bit of distance between Louis and yourself. That didn’t last very long though as he managed to position himself on your opposite side. Your shoulders hung in defeat; guess you had to deal with him after all. While making your way to the hunting area, Louis tried to make many jokes in order to get a reaction from you and in a desperate moment to get you to look at him, nearly mentioned what had happened before you met up with Aasim.
“Watch it.” There was an unsettling chill that ran down his spine at your words.
“I agree… please, just shut up for a bit.” The way you scolded Louis gave Aasim a prideful smirk, even if those were the first words he’d heard from you.
The conversation between Aasim and Louis was scarce, almost akin to their food situation. You had actually managed to shut him up and took the opportunity to bask in the whispering of the leaves and the heat from the rays coming and going as you walked.
“The trees with ribbons on have traps, so be careful where you step.” Aasim spoke up, looking to you for a response. Nodding, you smiled to thank him for the warning as Louis piped up about being a ninja.
“I’m sure you would know all about ninja stuff with how quiet you are.” Stealing a glance at you before grimacing at the memory of his scream the night prior. The sun leaked through the trees as you walked further into the forest. It framed your face so beautifully; Louis noticed the way the sparkle in your eyes danced with the light brought upon them. Shit… he started to fall a bit further than he thought he would. He thought it would be like the way he flirts with Brody and Vi; friendly teasing, but this was different. He wanted a reaction to see if you could possibly end up feeling the same way about him. The way you hugged him in the music room kept replaying. It was warm and needed, not just one-sided for your benefit. The way you giggled at his stupid joke. The way you even let yourself cry around him like you’d known each other for years. Even when you denied being upset, you still stayed with him. You had chosen to stay around him. There were so many times you could’ve left and he probably wouldn’t have noticed until his song was over, but you didn’t. He let his eyes linger on your moving form. You looked so oblivious, so calm with the nature around you, like you were almost where you belonged. The sly gaze he had on you was drawn away after you all tensed up at the strained gargle escaping the trees. Your steps were light yet so deliberate, he couldn’t help but stare. Louis felt an unfamiliar tug in his mind. The feeling wasn’t new; in fact, he’d felt it a few times before but could never place what it was. You moved with such caution before picking up a small pace to jog over to one of the snares. A snare that had caught a walker.
“Ah, now see… this could be fun!” A chuckle escaped Louis’ mouth as he came to stand beside you.
“Seriously dude? If you guys starve, it is not going to be pinned on me.” Aasim was not amused in the slightest, instead prioritised checking the other traps for anything worthy of being called a meal.
“He’s no fun… What d’you say?” His chair leg was presented to you as he eyed up the hanging walker. A small grin swept across his face as you took his weapon from him and lined yourself up for ‘batting practice’. As the pinata dangled, you took a heavy swing, Chairles’ nails getting stuck in the things head. Pulling the makeshift bat from the now maimed walker, you let its weight pull against your arms. You stared at your victory; its brains leaked slightly from the dent you caved into the side of its head. Their jaw was askew and lied lifelessly from the dislocation.
“Wow, you have good arms.” It was supposed to be a compliment; you did not need to look at him like that. Although, he was the one who walked in on you and Ruby when you barely had anything on. If he didn’t know any better, he would’ve thought something else was going on. He wasn’t sure how you felt about him, and you didn’t know how to feel either. Louis was nice, but he walked in without knocking and you were convinced he followed you this morning. Handing back his equipment, you looked over towards Aasim who didn’t seem to be having much luck. You gave a gentle curl of your mouth before leaving Louis to reset the trap.
It was just a baby… Only a small kit and was far from feeding all of you let alone just AJ. Aasim looked at you, letting you decide it’s fate. How could you kill such a small thing? Grabbing its legs, you loosened the ropes before setting it down with care. As it scurried off, the grass beside it rustled jarringly. You pulled the bow slowly from Aasim’s hands as he followed your line of sight, handing you an arrow along with it. The sound of wood against wood wasn’t something you’d heard in a long time as you pulled the arrow backwards, the fletchings nuzzling your cheek. Louis thought you were crazy, you just let the damn thing go and now you’re going to kill it anyway. The arrow whipped at the air as it flew and hit its mark, a faint squeal coming from the grass you and Aasim were so focused on.
“You literally just let it go… And now you’ve shot the poor thing anyways!?” he voiced his concerns as you strode towards the carcass. His eyes widened in a sense of admiration as you lifted a decently sized hare.
“Oh. Nice shot!” A minor guilt wrapped its way around his head, but it means you’ll be eating something tonight at least.
“Why don’t you two check on the girls and AJ, this probably won’t be enough on its own.” Aasim redirected himself towards the school after taking the kill and his bow from you then began to make his way back, hopeful that there’d be more food when you all return. Louis agreed and led you through the forest in the direction of the fishing shack. It shouldn’t be too long before you reach them but a few things caught your attention. Traps had been cut down and ribbons lazily discarded by the trunks of their holders. He didn’t stop alongside you, however. In fact, just kept walking muttering something to himself. Not that he knew you’d stopped, you were too quiet and he wasn’t very well adjusted to your company yet.
“Louis.” A small blush coated his cheeks after hearing you say his name. Coming to his senses and out of his daydream, he turned to see you pointing at the ribbons on the ground and the tampered with traps.
“The fuck!?” That didn’t look like anything the other kids would do and the school’s new guests were found too far from this place to have screwed with them. A pale white sheet caught your eye; leaning down to pick it up, you saw words written all over it. A cigarette, and a decently made one at that. You looked over at Louis who looked freaked out as fuck.
“We should go check on them… Now!” he picked up his pace and started to run through the woods; you close behind him.
Sprinting at full speed brought you to the fishing shack in about 10 minutes. No-one was around apart from you two. Eyes cast upon the shed; you and Louis shared a worried look.
“Violet! Brody! Clementine! AJ!” The fear was entwining itself in his words as he shouted for them, all while you made your way up to the door and tested the handle. Locked… Or jammed… You let all your weight rest into the door through your shoulder before pulling back and ramming it, completely forgetting about Ruby’s advice. Once, twice, thrice. The pain in your ribs grew with each thud, a groan following each of them in suit.
“Here.” Louis stood behind you, ready to echo your movements. The door finally caved as you both stumbled into the room. The place looked ransacked: spears missing, buckets scattered and the extra traps cut up and ruined.
“Hey, what’s going on?” Words drifted from behind you. Clem had pushed between the two of you with Violet behind her.
“What the hell!?” Anger and confusion dripped from her question. Brody soon arrived and admitted she came up empty handed and that the fishing traps had been sabotaged. Her eyes darted as she took in the scene; her breathing became hoarse and ridged. Soon enough, panic took its hold of her and she ran back to the school to inform Marlon of what happened. You pulled the cigarette from your pocket and handed it to Clem to examine.
“The kids don’t smoke, do they?” Looking between Louis and Violet for an answer as she revealed the one she found as well. They both shook their heads in unison.
“Nothing to smoke.” Violet shrugged disappointingly. You weren’t sure if anyone knew what to do, one hare was not going to feed thirteen kids and a dog. She tugged at the map Marlon had given her, the crinkling of the paper unsettling with the situation. You stood beside her, glancing over where you had and hadn’t been before clocking the train station just outside the dotted lines. Bringing your left hand up, you pointed towards the location and shared a look with her.
“The train station! There was so much food in a hatch under the floors. Some of it could’ve survived!” This was your only chance at making sure everyone ate and you were more than on board. Vi and Lou, on the other hand, did not seem to want the risk of going outside the safe zone. Clementine looked at Violet; you at Louis.
“Ugh… fine.” Begrudgingly, they agreed, the grumbling of their stomachs only confirming their desire for sustenance.
TWDG Season 4 Characters finding you on Lilly's ship
Been thinking of this one the last few days and it can kind of be a little morbid, so proceed with caution. The title says all, this is how the S4 cast finds you on Lilly's ship...
Aasim: He still remembers your screams as you had chemicals thrown into your face. The way your eyes watered as you tried to look for him and the shake in your lips as you admitted you couldn't see him. He was forced to watch the whole thing with Omar trying to shut him up so it wouldn't happen to them too. When Clementine and Violet finally came to get you all out, Aasim never left you. He held your hand so tightly it left red lines in your palm as your fingers turned white. Getting back to the school, Ruby did all she could to try and save your sight but fell fruitless. If they get better, they get better... If they don't, they don't. She would only be able to tell in time, but the blisters on your eyelids didn't give her much hope. You'd learn to live with it if blindness was the case. Louis would keep you entertained while Aasim was out hunting. The second he'd get back, he wouldn't leave your side. He makes sure that you can be included in as many games as possible and even proposed you two could play as a team. In a few weeks, your sight recovered slightly. You could see but everything was a blur, but even through that, Aasim stayed by you.. even bringing your hands to his face so you could feel his smile.
AJ: Despite only knowing you a short time, AJ became so fond of you. You were like another older sibling to him. You meant that much to him that he was taken aback when you screamed at Clementine when she tried to help. Your breathing was fast and shallow as you were coaxed out of the cell. You body was almost glued to the floor, the only movement being the insistent shaking. Speaking was nearly impossible, the only word you seemed to remember was 'no'. Once you were all back at the school, it took weeks, almost months, for your breathing to regulate when someone else was with you. AJ and Tenn tried so hard to get you to play with them again but instead you would just watch. You struggled to eat and rarely slept. Panic attacks happened so often that you could almost expect them. AJ remembered the way he shot Lily every time he looked at you. Clem told him he should never be happy about killing someone, but the way you looked at him every time he was around made him glad he listened to himself and shot the monster that did this.
Brody: When she reached for you, she immediately felt guilty. Your fingers were twisted and broken at multiple points. Aasim and Omar said you needed someone but she did not think this would be the reason why. Your hands held an empty shade of purple as she helped you up and out the cell, making sure nothing else could hurt you as you made your way back to the school. The next few moths were hard work... Ruby managed to splint the saveable fingers but had to take a couple off since they would cause more harm than good. Brody fed and dressed you every day until you could finally relearn how you use your fingers. You could manage, but bad days would send pain surging through your hands. Playing the piano with Louis was off the table and carving with Mitch probably wouldn't happen again. Brody was wrapped in so much guilt that she promised nothing would ever hurt you again, even if it costed her life.
Clementine: A minor prideful feeling filled her as she found out you had stuck up for everyone, despite it costing two of your fingers. Your middle fingers were left on the cell bed to remind you to 'be respectful', although that never stopped you. You told Clem about Lily's reaction to everything you did. She was able to teach you how to use weapons again and how to handle the phantom pain since she had been there after removing half her ring finger. You couldn't nock an arrow very well but that didn't stop you from taking up some knife training to make up for it. You were often sent out to fish with Violet, that being the easiest thing you could pick up again. You got used to it eventually but the strange tingles of empty space where your fingers once were made you solemn in the memory.
Louis: He remembered the looks on Aasim and Omar's faces when they told him about what happened. You wouldn't look at him, hands forced to cover your mouth. He had to pry them from you. Forcing you to look at him, he only stared as his eyes traced the black fishing line keeping your lips together. He watched as you strained a smile, blood seeping from corners of your mouth. Tugging you into a hug, he held you as tears streamed down your face. When you were finally able to get back to the school, Ruby was reluctant to try and get the stitching out with just how swollen your face was. It took a few hours, but she was able to loosen the ones at the centre of your lips enough so that you could at least drink. She came back to you after a few days, to try and cut a couple out but they started to become a part of you. The scarring across the corners of your mouth held the line in place no matter how much she tried. Sorrow loomed over her every time you winced and held your mouth. She was able to get the centre stitching undone enough so that you could eat. The pain made it hard to talk, and Louis was so guilt-ridden. If he had just tried harder, would you have avoided the punishment? He accepted the fact that he wouldn't be able to hear your singing again. You still played the piano with him and spoke in notes on the days you couldn't handle the pain. Sometimes he wishes that he killed more people that day. (May end up using this as part of the series... I also think about this one a lot which explains the amount of detail)
Marlon: When he found you, you could hardly breathe. Deep purple hues were etched into your neck. He guessed that you tried to fight back multiple time due to the red marks and bruising on your hands. He hadn't felt so angry before. Heartbeats racing as he carried you back to the school, to make sure you could get the treatment you needed. He wanted to be the only one to see you like this. Ruby taught him what to do to make sure your recovery was fast. He was reluctant to send you out after that. You often insisted you'd be fine, but he just didn't want to risk losing you. The marks never seemed to fully cease, instead they haunted him about what he had done. He never wanted this to happen but he saw it as the only option. Let a couple get caught and save you all later when he was prepared. Not once did he doubt your ability to survive but watching you fight your own throat to be able to breathe made something crack inside him. You weren't allowed to go anywhere alone after you got better, you had to go with Mitch or Marlon himself. He doubted himself before but now he had to protect you.
Mitch: Mitch watched from the shadows as a woman repeatedly hurled punches at you until your lip and nose were bleeding. Your eye was painted in yellows and purples as new bruising covered old ones. He remembers the way his legs moved after Clementine was able to open the cells. He needed you in his arms again, he needed to know you were alive. That ride back to the school was a night he'd never forget. Any time you coughed, small sputters of blood would creep past your lips. Ruby was terrified in case you were bleeding internally and she couldn't fix it. She knew how much you meant to Mitch and the influence you had over Willy. The healing was slow, but you had a full recovery. That blood you coughed up was likely due to swallowing so much after being beaten to a pulp. He'd watch you sleep in his bed during your time recovering. Any hunting missions he was sent on usually had him return with fucked up hands. He needed some way to get rid of his frustration and punching trees and walls was the only way he knew how. He used to talk to you but you were out of commission for the time being. The day he came back to see you sitting up right in his bed, pulled at his heart. You were finally alright. He didn't let go of you for hours, kissing your neck and cheeks carefully while whispering how sorry he was.
Omar: The guards held him and Aasim in order to teach them a lesson about speaking up. They were forced to watch as grade two lacerations were forced into your hands and arms, one stray strike to the side of your face leaving a sickening trickle of crimson in your cheek. The guards left you to bleed scolding you for the mess you were unconsciously making. Omar tore up clean parts of his clothes and passed them to you so you could temporarily stop the bleeding. Once you were safe within the school gates, he helped Ruby sort out your injuries and while you recovered, had you on tasting duty. He wanted to make sure everything tasted the best for you, he didn't care if it meant everyone had to wait longer. He wanted you to be happy after the events of the past few days. When you finally recovered and didn't have to wear bandages anymore, he hoped every time that you went out, you would come back safe. He would often massage the scars on your hands as he held them, he wished he spoke up to stop them but his heart fell at the thought of what those fuckers would've done to him and Aasim as well. They seemed more than happy to do that to you.
Ruby: Her heart skipped a beat when she saw you with the others safely retreating from the boat although, worry soon laced her face as she noticed the state of your hands. She couldn't do anything then, instead having to focus on getting the cart back to the school. When she finally had the chance to check you over, she cleaned all the open blisters on your burned hands. They had forced your hands onto the hot boiler since you insisted on grabbing the guards every time they walked past your cell door. The bandages were comforting against the irritation of your hands. Ruby wouldn't let you out of her sight until she knew that you had recovered. Much like Brody's situation, she fed and dressed you until you were comfortable using your hands again. The scarring was horrible and you had lost a lot of feeling in your hands. You couldn't tell when Ruby held your hand anymore, the only reason you did was because she made a habit of tugging your arm down to see her fingers entwined with yours.
Tennessee: He hated seeing a mark that mirrored his in the torchlight of the cave you all took cover in. He watched as Clem tried to tend to you while AJ forced an argument. Being careful of the raw areas of your head, Clementine was pulling loose hairs from your wounds even cutting some chunks off so the makeshift wrap would actually hold itself in place. The burns barely missed your left eye and had singed away at your eyebrow. It made him think of the way he got horribly burnt, he knew the exact pain you were going through. Sometimes he wondered which member of the Delta did that to you, Minnie often coming into thought. Any time he looked at you he saw the naïve boy in the reflection of your eyes, opting to ask AJ how he protects Clem so well and if he would be willing to teach him to protect you the same way.
Violet: An inhumane hatred and anger filled her the moment you told Violet to 'fuck off' and that she didn't seem to care when you were taken so why would she care now. Violet tried to keep a level head but your insistence of her betrayal only fuelled her more. She regretted every word she told you on that boat. 'Just stay here and die then, see if I care after that!' The words resonated in her mind. She said she didn't care if you were going to die. And in the heat of the moment, she was scared she meant it. You avoided her for weeks and it caused her heart to break. Every time she tried to apologise, she was reminded of the wrathful words she said and decided against talking to you fearing you wouldn't take her apology. It was only after a month of avoidance that you finally approached her and apologised for yourself. You knew what you said was hurtful and you let it bury you for weeks. The two of you cried together that night, apologising to each other for hours before finally drifting off. Things were still tense between you for a while, but Violet was confident it would pass; even if it took years.
Willy: You were basically his older sibling since this hell hole started and seeing you holding your face as you ran for the cart made his body tremble. Your nose was bloody and purple, even some blood sneaking past your lips as you scrambled into the cart. The travel back to the school consisted of loads of torn fabric to try and stop your face from bleeding; Louis and Mitch making sure you wouldn't collapse from the amount leaving your system. Willy watched every movement Ruby made as she taped up your nose and checked the gaps between your teeth. You had first came here with all 32 but as Ruby counted, the number seemed to stick around 27 to 28. You gave him a smile with the teeth you had left, and he returned it. That was your way of telling him everything would be fine, and he knew it well. Mitch would often look after you for him whenever he was on lookout duty. It took a couple months but you were finally able to get out of that shitty nose tape you had. Ruby did a decent job keeping your nose straight while it healed, the only thing that was 'wrong' was a noticeable dent right in the centre. He concluded that, that's where you got hit the hardest and made sure anything that came close to you would pay the same price; by his own hands or Mitch's.
Some cute headcanons for the types of jewellery they'd probably wear/have.
Aasim & Ruby: You just know these lovebirds have matching rings... Aasim probably found them after taking out some walkers with Clementine and was told he should keep and wash them. Definitely did not freak out when Louis suggested to give one to Ruby so they could match.
"You know she'd say yes"
"Louis, shut the fuck up!"
Brody: My baby girl has definitely had some sort of pendent gifted to her before she was taken to Ericson's. Maybe a lovely emperor butterfly or a four-leaf clover, either way she protects it with her life. No-one and I mean NO-ONE can get near it without Brody pouncing on them.
Clementine: During her time in Richmond, Ava recommended getting a piercing. She thought about it for weeks before finally caving and agreeing to have a needle stuck through her eyebrow. AJ still asks about it since he doesn't quite understand but he gets a different story each time.
"A bird gave it to me."
"I got struck with a nail fighting off attackers."
"Did it myself when I was 11."
Louis: Discovered a shit ton of rings in the headmasters drawers after the adults left and pestered Marlon until he could have them. Man literally begged and said he'd do anything, Marlon used it to his advantage. Every time Louis finally put some effort in he was rewarded with a ring and when he was being particularly annoying, he'd receive threats to take them away from him.
"Please, please, pleasee can I have them back??? I promise I'll help the next hunting group."
"Ugh, fine... but if I hear you're slacking off, I will rip them from you"
Marlon: Along with the rings, there was a set of old military dog tags in the same drawer in the headmasters office. He snagged them the second he found them and hasn't taken them off since. Similarly to Brody, he'll bark at whoever tries to touch them. So much so that the rest of them turned it into a game: who can steal Marlon's tags without him noticing. The only person who made it the farthest was Louis, call it favouritism or skill but he was the only one who almost gets off with nothing. Well, not quite nothing... Marlon would 100% take his rings as a form of punishment until Louis comes at him with the puppy dog eyes.
Mitch: It took me forever to figure out something that would suit Mitch. I was debating giving him dog tags like Marlon but I feel like he would lose them... Maybe they were his in the first place. Other than that, my mans definitely wanted snakebites as a kid and when he was able to get them, he did not hesitate. After seeing Clem's eyebrow he admitted that he wanted one too. Makes him feel like a badass and Willy does not let him think otherwise. He cried a little at getting his lip piercings, trusts Willy with his life not to tell.
Violet: Vi's ears are full of metal. After finding out what happened to Minnie and Sophie, she thought it would be a nice memorial to get the piercings that Minerva had. After that though, she became addicted. She found out how to do them safely and even asked Ruby to help disinfect the needles. This girl would not survive airport security, good thing that doesn't matter anymore. The first one she gave herself deffo got infected though and she felt mortified going to Ruby to help fix it.
"How did this happen!?"
"Uhhhhhh, I fell?"
Ahhh, I am so in love with season 4.... It might be a problem... Oh well~
So... I already want to do a part three, I did not realise just how in love with this boy I was. I will eventually do the other cast but this has been such a lovely return to writing that Imma just roll with it. My current plan with this is to go through the entire Final Season while integrating this MC and other ideas into it. Hope it turns out alright and is somewhat similar, but it is was it is so I'm not complaining. Either way, I hope you enjoy my lovelies <3

‘Music man’. You actually fucking called him that… TO HIS FACE. You contained your thoughts as you lay in your now assigned room. Clem stood over AJ whilst he drew, insisting he wanted to be like Tenn because ‘he draws really good’.
You thought about the game you all played before saying goodnight, you never actually played instead were content with watching them all. Louis tried to get you to join in even sliding a small pile your way. You declined a few times, and he soon gave up after you slid the cards back to him. War was the name of the game, the highest asks and the lowest answers. Simple enough. There were a few things about Clem that you didn’t quite know but you never wanted to pry in case it upset her. One thing in particular was AJ’s parents. They must’ve trusted Clementine a great deal if he was left with her. Violet had asked the question, the one you’ve been wanting the answer to the most. You learnt something new that night. No wonder she cared for him with her life. Clem won second and asked about famous people and she boasted about how the two of you met Javier, a former professional baseball player. You sometimes miss Javier, Kate and Gabe. They were the family you had before you left Richmond with Clem. Not like you knew them well, but you all fought to protect each other, and they were some of the few to never question your silence. Louis won the third round and hesitantly asked if either of you had ever had a boyfriend. You shook your head and looked at Clem for her answer, not like it was important, but you were still curious. She looked at her hands in her lap, a small blush creeping up her neck. You said your last word of the night after debating the possible consequences:
“Gabe?” You continued to stare as she shot you a glare. You could tell that she at least had a small thing for him during the time you knew the boy and his family. She sighed finally admitting that she may have had a small crush on him but soon found out that his temper wasn’t the best and decided against making any moves and stated that she needed to find AJ and didn’t have time for feelings. They continued with the game for a few more rounds before Marlon won and asked about who you’ve both been with before.
“I’ve had several groups and so has MC. My first was probably the reason I survived,” she took a small breath before confiding in your new friends. “Lee, a man called Lee looked after me when this all started. He taught me so much.”
“What was the most important thing he taught you?” Marlon inquired, a small tingle of uncertainty laced his words.
“Ho- how to let go.” Clem was looking at her hands again, she missed him so much and you knew just how painful it was for her to talk about him since she broke down a few weeks after getting AJ back. She wasn’t sure what to say at the time and instead just stifled a cry as you comforted her. She told you everything about him back then. Her right hand flew to her small stack of cards to continue playing and taking her mind off him. Other questions had come and gone before Louis finally won again asking if she had to kill anyone she loved. She was hesitant at that question too, admitting that she let Lee turn because she couldn’t stand the thought of killing someone she saw as a father, and explained that she had to choose between shooting a man called Kenny or letting him kill her friend Jane. She shot him, Jane showed her the truth. Everyone’s expression changed to that of sorrow and grief. Clementine excused herself and thanked Louis for including her, you followed her from the table after giving a cautious nod to the rest of them. Marlon jogged up behind the two of you and apologized on Louis’ behalf and asked you both to come and see him in the morning to organize your help. He bid you goodnight again before you went to the room that Clem had been tended to in.
You continued to lay there on the top bunk, listening to the shallow scratches of pencils on paper before a creek of the door caught your attention. It was Violet saying that Tenn asked for more art supplies whilst looking in the cupboard, soon looking over at AJ and sighed.
“That would be what I’m looking for…”
“Sorry, we didn’t realise it belonged to anyone.” Clem encouraged AJ to return it because it wasn’t his but Violet insisted she didn’t mind waiting for him to finish up. Vi ended up confiding slightly and explained what happened about a year ago, and that this room used to belong to Minerva and Sophie. She carried on and even apologised if she came off cold, Clem saying its fine and that she could definitely be like that too sometimes. You let them complement each other before Violet asked what your deal is.
“She isn’t too keen on talking much. Said that it’s only ever caused her trouble, so made a rule for herself to only talk if danger is about.” Clementine knew to keep some smaller details out; you’d talk to them when you were ready after all.
“She talks to AJ just fine though; she have a soft spot or something?” You let out a small chuckle and waved lightly at Clem to carry on.
“Sort of, she read somewhere that restricting social cues from a small kid could have bad consequences. It’s only really if he speaks to her first, or if he gets himself in trouble.” She told the blonde girl across from her as she stared daggers into AJ’s back. You couldn’t see it, but you just knew that he tensed up. You heard the frantic scribbling of pencils before a small tap against the desk and the patters of AJ’s shoes against the floor.
“MC, MC! Look what I did!” He shouted up at you whilst showing the paper to Clementine. You let yourself roll over and peer over the side of the bed to what Clem had in her hands. Giving him a thumbs up, you waited for his smile before slumping back to your original position. You heard the door click as Violet left with the box and a small scurrying of AJ getting comfortable under the bed. Much to Clem’s dismay,
“There’s a lovely comfy bed and you’re choosing the floor?” She wanted him to actually get a good night’s sleep since it had been forever since this had happened. He argued back and she finally conceded and just left him be. You don’t know how long it had been, but you guessed that at least AJ had fallen asleep. It was only confirmed when your friend spoke to you.
“MC, do you still think about them? The people you were with before? It looked like Louis’ questions got to you a bit.” She asked softly. It was touchy, your past. You thought Clementine was lucky for only having to kill a couple people she loved. You on the other hand, you had to kill your best friend, your mother, your father, and even blamed yourself for the death of your brother and most of the people in past groups. You sat yourself up to look at her and nod. Of course you thought about them, how could you not. You looked up to so many of them as they protected you and taught you everything you now know. You remembered the group you had before Richmond. Whisperers, they called themselves. Trained themselves to walk amongst hordes and even guided them sometimes. That’s when you were taught stealth to walk with them and not draw attention to yourself, that’s when you started to steal too. Walkers would often grab at anything that moved and, more often than not, they’d even grab your stuff, so you had to find a way to get things from them carefully. You watched as the brown-haired girl lay down again still looking at you,
“I’m here for you, don’t forget that. I don’t plan on going anywhere without you either.” She told you before letting herself doze off. You all need a good night’s sleep after today.
You woke in the early hours of the day in a cold sweat. That dream felt all too real, like you were actually back to the day your life changed. The crunch your brother’s hand made in the door as you tried to shut him out. The gargled slurs he seethed through the door at you. The mark on his neck gushing with red. He was bitten by those things… there wasn’t anything you could do. The way your dad shoved you away and frantically unlocked the barrier between you and your eldest brother. The way he babied your brother as he was carried to the other room. The looks your mother and best friend gave you as your father told them what you did. Screaming at you how:
“Everything is your fault! Don’t you dare forget. YOU DID THIS!” You thought about those words every day. You thought about the scream your mother made as your brother bit the hand that was tending to him. You thought about the panic on your best friend’s face as your brother crawled up his leg. You thought about the handgun. You thought you could fix this. You shot them… All three of them. Though not before a chunk was taken out of your dad’s leg. He dragged you out of the house and into the family car as he bled. He never stopped saying how everything was your fault as he drove. You didn’t know where he was driving to, but you knew that he would turn as well. His cursing began to slow before the car sped up, his limp body pressing harder into the accelerator as you sat there crying. Tears fell down your face as you held the gun up to his head and pulled the trigger. You remember reaching over him to open the door and push him out. You were ten years old. How is a ten-year-old supposed to handle that stress?
You looked over at Clem, the rays of sun still a few hours away from reaching her eyes to wake her. Shifting your body, you got yourself up and out of bed without waking the other two. That was the last thing you wanted, to have AJ question what was up. Even with your soft spot for him, you didn’t speak about feelings. You let yourself out and let the door close softly behind you. The thoughts of that day wouldn’t leave, small tears threatening to fall from the corners of your eyes. You just wanted to run and hide from them. Trying to distract yourself, you left the dorms to explore the admin building a little more. You knew where a few rooms were but that was it. Walking past the nurse’s office that you were treated in, you found a small hall. ‘Probably the old canteen before this happened’. The doors were locked and windows slightly barricaded, as you listened for any kind of movement or sound to indicate walkers. There were still small pieces of glass scattered across the floor. You only realized because they glistened in the suns light. Looking passed the wooden boards, you could see old tables and chairs flipped against the back wall, probably to provide more protection in case anything got to the back doors. You were torn away from the sight when the closing of doors resounded behind you. Checking to see who it was, you caught a glimpse of a shadow turning the corner farthest from you towards the music room. You wondered if maybe Louis was up, and you quickly allowed that wonder to flourish as you chased after whoever it was. Making your way to the door, you could hear the screech of the stool against the floorboards. ‘Yep, definitely Louis.’ You pushed the door open as you heard the melody of the keys echo in your ears, forcing those old thoughts out. You watched as he played, hands swiftly drifting between the ivory keys. The same thoughts drifted back slowly though, it strangely sounded like something your mother used to play back home.
The tears you were holding back earlier decided to return, and you let them. They drifted down your cheeks like minor streams straying from rivers. Some contacted the corners of your mouth before pulling themselves to your chin. You could only stare in awe at the man, you were captivated. It’s like he had managed to capture all your feelings and express them in a way you couldn’t. This song sounded so sad, you started to wonder if he was possibly expressing his feelings. There was a small pause before the ballad shifted slightly, not quite happy but closer to grateful. When his playing slowed to a stop, he turned to you slightly not looking at you just yet.
“Did you like it?” Louis asked you. Did he know you were up? How did he know? Was he spying on you!? He finally turned around; a toothy grin smeared across his mouth before he realized you were crying. Worry snuck its way onto his face as he stood to walk closer to you.
“Hey… You okay?” He sounded like he cared. Of course he did, the night before he literally promised to make you laugh every day and now you were standing in front of him, crying. You broke slightly, a choked sob escaping past your lips before you raised a hand to swipe away the tears. You wanted to cry it out, you did, but in front of someone you’ve only just met was a big no no.
“Mm, fine.” You mustered, quietly looking away so you didn’t encourage more tears. Feelings were not something you could speak about. You wouldn’t know where to start.
“You don’t look very fine…” He responded, you would’ve thought he was being sarcastic until he pulled your hands from your face and took small steps backwards, tugging you with him. As if you were still entranced from the music, you could only comply. Your body mirrored his as he sat you by his side on the stool. The sun rays forked their way through the windows and highlighted the dry glaze on your face. He felt horrible that you were upset and even worse after you dismissed you weren’t upset. He didn’t know what to do. Should he play another song? Would that make it even worse? Should he get Clementine or AJ? Would you actually tell them what was up? Or would you just lie to them too? He’s not seen anything like this since last year when Brody and Marlon explained what had happened to Minnie and Sophie. Violet was silent for weeks after that, refusing all help anyone offered. Everyone just had to let Vi get over it herself, he remembered it being hard to watch. He didn’t want you to feel the same, especially because he knew Marlon was going to ask you and Clem to give a hand to the different groups going out today. Louis thought about how intense the feelings between Violet and Brody currently were and how your sour mood could possibly ignite more of a fight between them. He also imagined what it would be like if you went with him and Aasim. That would be rough… him feeling so off because you were upset then Aasim would probably ask about it too and knowing himself all too well, he would’ve slipped up and stated you were crying this morning. That was probably the last thing that he wanted to happen. He kept thinking of ways he could cheer you up. Stupid jokes? No… What if they didn’t land or only upset you more. He stared at the little music book atop the old piano before a small idea finally sparked. His hands found home on the keys, pressing gently into them. He let his mind recall one of his favourite covers he used to play when the walker infestation first took place. It always cheered him up and he was hopeful that it would do the same for you.
He put his entire body into making sure this was his best attempt of this piece ever. The notes complimented each other so well despite the piano’s desperate need for tuning. You looked towards his hands as they engaged in a waltz with the keys, each swipe of his fingers purposeful. You let yourself smile as the chorus flooded your ears, allowing the lyrics to repeat themselves in your mind. The man caught a sly glimpse of your face before closing his eyes to put his all into finishing the song. As the music concluded, Louis opened his eyes again to look at you to discover that your smile hadn’t faltered at all. Instead, he watched as the corners of your lips curled upwards slightly as you looked at him.
“I hope it helped, at least a little.” He spoke to you in a gentle murmur, he had provided a calm and comfortable space for you, he did not want to interrupt that with being too loud. You nodded slightly as you wrapped your arms around him for a quick hug and whispering a soft: “Thank you” before pulling away again. Other than what you did with AJ and walking arm in arm with Clem, he hadn’t actually seen you have any physical contact with anyone so this was a surprise to him.
“You know, I used to play piano by ear,” He looked to you with a small smirk twitching across his mouth. You looked at him slightly puzzled but figured he continue speaking.
“But now I use my hands.” He let his smile reach his eyes while doing a minor ‘jazz hands’ motion towards you. That was terrible… so terrible that it was funny. You could only snicker a response, is he going to be this corny all the time?
“There, made you laugh! Or does that not count?” he questioned you whilst you pondered a response. Your head shook on its own, you’ll learn to expect this more often and be ready for sneak attacks.
Here is the list for my favourite boy's own series. Any and all parts that I consider part of this series will be linked in order here and anything that could relate but not always relevant (like small side stories) will be stated as otherwise
Part 1: "I can't remember the last time I laughed like this."
This is the first of what could possibly end up being a series about my favourite boy. Only recently finished season 4, so sorry if the characters aren't exactly like what you'd expect. This takes place on a slightly alternate timeline where the raiders haven't posed a threat yet but Minnie and Sophie did unfortunately meet their fates with a pack of walkers (I have very little confidence in writing for Minnie and with how little info is given about Sophie, I doubt I can write for her at all). As this is the first TWDG fic I have ever written, constructive criticism is more than welcome, I hope you enjoy :))
Reader info: This MC (Main Character) is very particular with who she speaks to, even though Clem is her best friend, she only really speaks to her if there is danger or she absolutely has to. AJ happens to have a special place in her heart so she speaks to him much more than anyone else she meets. They'll learn not to take it personally. Maybe?

The last thing you felt was a grip under your arms, pulling you to your feet followed by a hooking motion under your knees to carry you from the original escape route. Whoever was holding you was warm against the chills your body attracted as it began to fall limp. Before your eyes began to close, your pupils danced, frantically trying to find the little boy you called a brother and the best friend you deemed worthy of being your sister. You only saw her hat before the weight of your eyelids took over and drowned you in a shallow darkness.
Nothing was familiar as you began to become responsive. Everything blurred together around you; the grey ceiling blended effortlessly with the body who leant over your side. You could make out faint curls of red and a partially fair skinned person tending to your side. Someone was speaking, you couldn’t tell what the words were nor could you find the energy to try and reply. Instead, you just stared blankly at the roof above you, trying to pry apart any details like cracks or even patches of missing paint. The humming pain in your lower torso became apparent when a slight shift in the person’s handling made you wince. ‘Shit’, you just hoped nothing was broken. You craned your neck to the side and creased your eyes to try make your view just that bit clearer. Vermillion hair came into your line of sight and whoever this girl was, she looked decently worried for your state. Orbs of deep blue looked over you, her mouth was moving but you couldn’t make out the words she was saying. Her gaze shifted from you to something or possibly someone out of your eyeshot. She must’ve been timing something as she removed her hands and whatever she was holding against you from your skin. The girl mouthed more inaudible requests as she walked away from you and ,assumingly, out the room.
You took this as the prime opportunity to sit up and give yourself a once over and finally try and find more data on where you had been brought. A black sports bra style top had been left on your form, along with your black knee length shorts, although the right pant leg had been rolled up to the top of your thigh. Your gaze adjusted as you noticed deep purple marks across your leg before the ache in your left side crept through your abdomen. Eyes trailing up your body to continue your examination, there was even more of the same deep plum bruising vining its way up to your ribcage. You didn’t want to dwell on it, instead making finding AJ and Clem your priority. You searched the room, finding your clothes folded neatly on a desk to the one side of you and your backpack draped on the stool tucked next to it, shoes in front of the drawers. You clambered your way off the bed you had been laid on and pulled your pant leg back down in order to dress yourself. The pain made it hard but you’ve ignored worse, so could definitely manage pushing this feeling away for now. You put on your attire, the way it had been before you were stripped of it, checked your bag and noticed all the small nicks on your hands. ‘Probably from the glass’ you reminded yourself of what had happened prior to arriving at this strange place, making sure not to forget about your chosen family. You slung the bag over your shoulder and forced your feet into your shoes, buckling them tightly as you shifted from one to the other. You were oblivious to the body in the doorway until you turned to face them. He was tall and adorned a gruff expression. That must’ve been the person that girl was talking to. You gave a small smile and nod as you stood and stepped towards him, fingers crossed he’d move out of your way. He didn’t budge. You just stared at each other for a moment, before some hurried footsteps sounded behind him.
“I’m back Mitch, you can go back to what you were doi-“ a gentle southern accent filled the silence between you as the girl from before came into view.
“Oh, I’m surprised to see you standing,” Her kind tone reflected that of her actions against the bruises she was tending to earlier. “How are you feeling?” You only nodded. She seemed a little distraught at your lack of words but chalked it up to new faces and a strange environment. “Uh, your friends are gonna be fine, if that’s had you worried,” Your continued silence only confused her that little bit more. “I’m Ruby and this here is Mitch, he hasn’t caused trouble, has he?” The kind redhead let a soft chuckle escape her lips as you looked for a response. You shook your head gently, mimicking the partial smile that she wore. The boys demeanour didn’t fault or shift at all; he just shrugged himself from the doorframe and walked off.
“Don’t mind him, it’s been a while since we’ve seen other people our age.” Ruby explained, the strangely cold presence he had was making sense. “I’ll take you up to Marlon, he’ll know what to do with you.” She beckoned you to follow her and you did just that. She was surprisingly warm and friendly towards you despite being a complete stranger. You followed her through the old hallways and up a delicate central staircase, all the while there was a faint melody chorusing through the very halls you walked. You don’t remember the last time you heard an actual instrument being played, that was years and years ago by now, well before shit hit the fan and the apocalypse started. Ruby kept a cautious eye on you as you gawked at the paintings and the like coating the walls as you continued to follow her up the stairs and to a well-made pair of doors. The amber haired girl opened the doors and began to speak to the boy she mentioned before your miniature tour. She was whispering, you couldn’t quite tell what she was saying but you let yourself into the room before a quiet shout and rushed steps flew towards you.
“MC! You’re okay!” That was one of the two you were looking for located, now just to check on Clementine. His arms crashed into your bad leg, but not like you cared, he was safe and seemed to be uninjured. Your legs buckled at the impact but you used the movement to get down to his level and hug him properly.
“AJ, I’m so glad you’re okay.” You said to him in a hushed tone, it was how you always spoke to him unless danger was about. Ruby looked decently baffled at your sudden use of words and confusion found home on her face as she thought of why you didn’t speak to her. She never took it personally though and instead excused herself so you could speak with the boss. He introduced himself as Marlon and explained that Clementine was indeed going to be fine and that she was taken to the dormitory building to rest as she took a heavy hit to the head. Marlon also explained the general situation of kids run by kids since the adults left and mentioned you're welcome to stay as long as you don’t mind helping out. You nodded in agreement and you received a similar reaction to what Ruby gave you the first time she expected a verbal reply.
“MC doesn’t really talk much, get used to it.” AJ made it clear that you weren’t one to converse with in a protective tone before running off, most likely to avoid being used to talk to you.
“He’s been like that since he got up… He obviously cares about you two but he’s only caused trouble.” You shook your head slightly, ‘trouble?’ AJ is one of the sweetest people you’ve had the joy of being around. Trouble didn’t suit him, maybe it was because the area was just as unfamiliar to him as it was to you. Marlon didn’t want to waste too much time, if you were up, Clementine wasn’t going to be much longer and if she’s just as protective as the little boy they brought in, who knows what she’d do to her caregiver. He excused himself from the room yet you forced yourself to follow and make sure Clem was definitely going to be as fine as you’ve been told.
The sun’s rays blinded you slightly as you followed the blonde out the main doors and your legs caved at the sudden steps down. You caught yourself and decided a small break was alright. ‘Everyone who spoke to me insisted she’d be fine’ your thoughts trickled to a minor halt as you sat yourself on the steps. You watched as the leader of this group caught up with a younger dark-skinned boy before heading into what you guessed were the dorms that were mentioned just earlier. Small needles pricked at your skin, it was the feeling you got when someone was overly aware of your presence. You scanned about, eyes falling to a scrawny, younger looking boy whose eyes drilled into you. You took a small glace around him and noticed the one that Ruby called ‘Mitch’ sat across from him deeply focused with the objects in his hands. You let yourself fall into a small staring contest with the intrigued boy; he only kept your attention for around a minute before movement in your peripherals tore you away. Picking yourself up from the stairs, you watched as he turned to face Clementine, giving her a similar treatment to what he gave you. It looked like she waved at him before he bolted for the small lookout post perched atop the school’s wall. The second her eyes landed on you she bolted, glad to see that she had been told the truth. Clem wrapped her hands around your neck careful to keep the two of you balanced in case your wounds were also a truth that was shared with her.
“Marlon, Walkers!” The yelling had caught your attention and as you looked over you watch the scrawny boy nock and draw an arrow before letting go and repeating the action.
“Ugh, you’ll find your boy with Louis, just follow the music!” Marlon shouted towards us before going to assist the younger person.
“The music?” Clem looked at you puzzled; you just shrugged and pointed towards the doors behind the both of you. You made your way into the building allowing Clem to take the lead as per your usual. The music filled your ears again as you watched Clem sigh and mumble to herself before taking off through the right hallway. You basked in each other’s silent company as you followed the serenading sounds. That was quickly changed though as Ruby charged round the corner, a string of curses escaping her:
“That little motherfucker- Hey your boy just bit me, you need to get him under control!” She spat, the hissing a complete contrast to when she spoke gently to you when nursing your injuries.
“Sorry he did that… but that doesn’t sound like AJ at all.” Clementine stood her ground against the redhead but still took some of the blame as she was the primary caretaker of him. Ruby clearly did not like that answer and stormed down the hall and out the main doors, letting them slam behind her. The two of you shared a look.
“Marlon said he was trouble since he got up.” She told you and you gave a curt nod in agreement. The small wave passed over you both as you nudged the music room door open and saw AJ swaying in awe at the gracefully skilled pianist sat atop the stool. AJ turned to see the two people who meant the most to him stood in the doorway.
“CLEM!” He gave a similar reaction to that he had given you, running and hugging her. Your best friend gave the little boy a once over before tickling him mercilessly, earning a small chuckle from you. She also makes sure to reprimand him for biting ‘that girl’. AJ explained why he did it and mumbled that he didn’t mean to it just, happened.
“Nice to see you’re both up, I looked after your kid for you.” The charming voice of the pianist spoke to you two. His skin reminded you of milk chocolate, oh how you could kill to get some of the good shit again.
“Thank you, I hope he wasn’t too much trouble” Clem had responded for the both of you.
“Trouble!? That kid’s been a menace, trouble might as well be his middle name!” Louis quipped at her. “That was Ruby he bit, just so you know.”
“You’re gonna have to apologise to her young man.” Clementine did not look pleased; that’s now three instances of trouble that you both knew of. Louis continued to press the different keys as if his fingers were in a trance while he introduced himself.
“Marlon left your bag in here for you.” The freckled boy stated as he continued to amuse himself. She grabbed her bag and retrieved her hat, fixing it to the crown of her head where it belonged. She also pulled out both knives and tossed yours into your hands.
“Someone’s got skills.” Louis smirked at you; you responded with the same treatment you had given everyone else, a slight smile and nod of your head.
“And an attitude…” His smile faltered slightly but he kept it on his face as he continued to play.
“Don’t mind MC, she isn’t much of a talker. I’m lucky if even get a ‘hi’.” Clem defended your silence with a playful glint in her teeth.
“Note taken- Wait, you’re giving a gun to a kid!?” He started but quickly noticed Clementine handing a revolver to the five-year-old. She kept up the playfulness of her voice when she responded: “He’s probably a better shot than you, Y’know.” He only shook his head and went back to the piano, starting the tune he’d been playing over again.
“Do you know anything else?” Clem questioned begrudgingly, he paused to look at her.
“There is one but, you’re armed…” Louis joked, but Clem blew it off and decided it wasn’t worth her energy as she left, AJ in tow. You only stared as her pace quickened down the hallway, a slight shake to your head.
“Would you be interested?” Louis asked. Not looking away from the door, you gave a gentle nod. As he started, the memories of the song ‘Oh my darling, Clementine’ resounded in your mind as you began to grow grateful that Clem left. She definitely would’ve cut him a new one. When he finished impressing you, you gave a small round of applause as he stood for a dramatic bow.
“Thank you, thank you. I’m here all week!” he jokingly mused at you, although that didn’t last long. Marlon soon ran into the room and demanded you get your asses in gear since the horde of walkers grew bigger since the first couple that other kid had called him over for.
“I take it you’ll manage despite being all bruised up?” He quirked a brow and you nodded an affirmative. He turned sharply on his heel waiting to hear both of your footsteps before setting into a sprint to make the walker horde pay for endangering his hunting group. He got Clementine up to speed as he reached the gate and lead a small group of you to take out the fiends.
“It’s almost like there was an explosion that made them travel all this way…” A blonde girl had stated sarcastically, shooting a glare at you and Clem.
“Cut them some slack Vi, not like they knew this would happen.” Louis was quick to defend the two of you. You closed the gate behind you as a means to protect the younger kids, especially AJ.
“Awe, why can’t I help?” A sadness filled his cheeks and as Clem turned around to give him an answer you spoke up first:
“We need eyes behind us, don’t we? Warn us before one gets a meal!” You didn’t like shutting him out of a fight, but at least this way he could still take part. The look you got from Louis was almost like an old timey princess movie when the prince actually finds out he’s fallen for the baker’s daughter and not another member of royalty to his mother’s dismay. You pay him little to no mind as you sneak into the darkness of the forest, stealth was your thing after all, it’s why Clem likes you so much and keeps you around. You could render spotlights almost useless.
You’d helped clear out the walkers and made sure the hunting party was safe. You were walking behind Clem, Violet and Louis, your footsteps akin to a mouse. Clementine knew you were there; she had trained her ear to notice your quiet-ass footsteps. You overheard Louis complimenting Violet and your best friend about their respective b-minus and a-plus performances before he realised you were no-where to be seen.
“Uh, guys… Where’s MC?” A dark-haired girl and Marlon came to a standstill and shared a concerning look. Louis glanced at Clem who seemed almost too calm for not knowing where her friend was. That was until you placed your hand on his shoulder, rewarding you with the girliest scream you’ve probably ever heard. You snickered to yourself and hi-fived Clem as you walked past the boy you just petrified; you swear he turned a couple shades paler.
“I wouldn’t worry about MC; she knows how to handle herself. Plus, she’s as hushed as a church.” You shared another giggle with her as you walked arm in arm with her to the courtyard. You couldn’t help but glance at the poor boy you startled only to notice a certain look in his eyes; you weren't sure if he was impressed or enamoured.
“Well, you’ve definitely earned your dinner for tonight.” Marlon spoke to the two of you, “And how about you little fel-“ He was soon winded as a deep thud ran through his waist.
“Ah, Fuck!”
“Oh my god… Marlon are you okay?” Clem rushed to his side to give empathetic concern.
“AJ!” You spoke up, stern. The little boy tensed at your tone… you haven’t spoken to him like that in months. Clem went on to explain AJ’s trauma to Marlon while you had a small audience when scolding the timid young boy. Eventually, you got to his level.
“Clem and I know about your thing, but these guys don’t. Unfortunately, you can’t just react like you do with us. You have to think for a second when you’re in what’s considered a safe place. Okay?” You were sympathetic to your little goofball but this ‘trouble’ he'd been causing needed to calm down before he began to fit the bill of an ‘Ericson’s Boarding School for Troubled Youth’ kid.
“You’re going to have to apologise AJ.” Clem had came up behind you and crouched to the ground beside the guilty boy. She urged you to explore a little bit while she took AJ around to meet everybody and apologise to Ruby and Marlon. By the looks of it Marlon accepted the apology and in perfect timing too; Louis announced that dinner was to be served.
You had scoffed your food down at almost the same speed as AJ did, you were definitely better mannered though. AJ’s food had splashed up his face and a burp erupted from his chest. Ruby scoffed in disgust and excused herself as you shared a look with Clem. Her grin matched yours as you let out a minor burp and she followed suit with a decent belch. This had definitely gotten a fuelled reaction from Louis as he copied the two of you. Marlon started to tell him off before a burp of his own caught him off-guard and he began to laugh. AJ’s smile was ear to ear as pride swelled in his chest. Louis and Clem were laughing in unison; it was way too contagious. You couldn’t help but join them, and this wasn’t like any of your other giggles or chuckles… It was full on laughter, it actually caught AJ’s attention more than you thought it would. Clem was staring, a wide grin on her face.
“I’ve never heard you laugh before,” AJ spoke up. “It’s nice! You have an awesome laugh!” He complimented you as you sat there trying to calm your cackling. You caught a shy glimpse of Louis staring at you, almost amazed you haven’t laughed properly in front of a kid before, let alone one you were helping to look after.
“I guess,” You started, almost forgetting your own stupid rule about speaking to people. “I guess it’s been a while. I don’t remember the last time I had a good laugh like this.” You finally calmed yourself.
“Well then, you’d better get used to it. I’ll make it my daily goal to have you laugh at least once!” Louis challenged you.
“I’d like to see you try music man!” you cooed at him in return, catching a look from Clementine. She was glad to see you speaking to people, even if it was just for one night.
Hello my darling flower petals, I know that my posts have been somewhat dry however I have good reason. In my last small update post I did explain that my plate is currently quite full, my job is currently quite back and forth since its either really busy or not at all. I get my rotas weekly which is a bit of a strain on plans that I make through the week, which can also limit what I want my writing schedule to be. I am also trying to juggle my home life with work as well as make some kind of recording and editing plan for my YouTube channel (which I won't be disclosing due to the major differences between them and my privacy) while also trying to make writing time in some where. I will do my best from now on to make some kind of progress into writing like I stated in my last post. I've only recently gotten out of my writers block, so thank you all for your patience. Expect something soon my little vines. xx
Hello my lovely flower petals, yes.. I'm still alive.
I know I haven't posted in a hot minute, I'm working on a big writing project as well as coming to terms with life rn. I looked through my drafts and notes and saw that I had really good ideas as well as stuff I've written in word. When I have days off work and the inspiration to write, I will push myself to write something and post however I'm a big quality over quantity type of person and I won't be rushing anything, but I will try to post every few days whether it's just some headcannons or a full prompt or even silly photos I've drawn or seen on Pinterest. Thank you so much for understanding my sweet vines xxxx
Whenever I see an assumption that Beel is less intelligent than his brothers, I get frustrated.
If you read into his dialogue and look into his devilgram, you find out that he was once a royal guard in the celestial realm. He was trained to protect the lives of others so thoroughly that he's able to function blindfolded due to the training drills he once did. He doesn't lift weights to look big, or for his own appearance, but so that he's able to be confident in his ability to protect the ones he loves against any possible danger.
He is by far the most emotionally intelligent. This man was born with the ability to literally feel the emotions of his twin. Intimately experiencing the emotions of another person is something that is ingrained within him. It's not so much of a stretch for him to apply that same empathy to other demons and people.
Did you notice that he never once mentions how MC is human and not a demon, he never makes any sort of remark that could make you feel outcast or different? Did you notice that he's the first to genuinely talk to MC about Lilith, Belphegor and the pain of loss?
Yes, his dialogue is often simple and centered around food. But the sin he was assigned is by far the most painful. Imagine how you'd act when you haven't eaten for an entire day. For a week. The hunger consumes. It turns to anger and irritability. Survival instinct kicks in. A gnawing, nagging ache inside your core that barely leaves behind any mental energy.
This perpetual void is also why Beelzebub takes everything at face value, and won't catch on to social nuance. Deciphering social cues and passive aggressive interactions takes energy that this demon simply does not have.
So no, Beel isn't stupid. He's candid and honest, and whatever he's thinking pops right out of his mouth. He's an absolute meatball who chews holes in furniture and doesn't catch on to things the fastest, but he's doing his best to deal with the literal hell he's been handed.
Fluff, low social battery, cheesy confession, new years party
Constructive Criticism it welcome, hope you enjoy :)
I will most likely make a part 2 for this which is more on the smutty side, will be up once finished.

Last year was, weird. Really fucking weird. I met nine demons, two angels and a sorcerer, the twelve of them slowly but surely becoming some of my closest friends, yet my mind always came back to one of them. A specific recluse. A lovely bookworm with a short temper, but I’ve found that his temper has improved over the time I spent with him during the exchange program. And when I came back and accidentally landed on him, he didn’t threaten to kill me like he would anyone else. In fact, he hugged me and said he was glad to see me alive and healthy. I’m glad I met him, and I'm glad that he’s the one I've grown closest with. We’d often have book nights in his room and sit in a comfortable silence with tea by our sides. Satan is something else. An angry personality with a soft spot for me. I'm really grateful for him. We were all at a new years party at the Demon Lord’s castle and I was hoping to dance with just the blondie of my dreams but, I never got the chance. Instead, I had Lord Diavolo, Lucifer, and Mammon all over me with Simeon and Solomon intervening at intervals they saw fit. I never had the chance to dance with him and that made me upset. My social battery had been at a rapid decline for most of the party, but he was here so I couldn’t just leave. Plus, Diavolo put his heart and soul into making this party enjoyable, even Levi was enjoying himself. Yet I was stood on a balcony gasping for fresh air as all I wanted was to go back to the house and spend a quiet evening with Satan by the fireplace in the library while we read, listening to the crackle of the fireplace on new years eve. But that wasn’t going to happen. At least not this year or right now. I wanted to leave, badly but I'm not allowed. Even if I did leave the castle, Lucifer has the house keys, and I don’t have the heart to beg him to let me leave. I heard footsteps coming towards me and if I was correct, Barbatos was about to ask me either: if I was okay or to come back inside and enjoy the party. Knowing him, it’d probably be the former.
“Are you alright MC? You’ve been out here on your own a while.” He said, I knew it was him. He’s the only one who can slink away unnoticed. I nodded saying something about fresh air and my social battery reaching its limit. I assume he nodded and made a quiet exit because when I turned around to face him, he was gone as if he’d never been there in the first place. I wanted to go back inside, I really did but at the same time, I just wanted to leave. To go home and have a comfortable evening. I heard another set of footsteps. A bit heavier than Barbatos’ but not heavy enough for me to pin who they belonged to.
“I’ve been looking everywhere for you, I'm lucky I bumped into Barbatos, and he told me.” A gruff voice sounded from behind me. I knew in that moment that it was Satan’s. I turned my neck to be able to look at him from the corner of my eye and, damn did he look good in a suit. He looked good in a lot to be honest. I let him walk towards me and look across the Devildom at my side. Leaning into him, I felt my whole body relax and my social battery began to recharge. All be it slowly, but it was recharging.
“You know, you are the most beautiful looking at this entire party.” Satan whispered to me; a light flush covered my cheeks in that moment as he wrapped his arm around my waist. He often did stuff like that: holding my hand in public, holding me by the waist during our book nights and if I was busy falling asleep, he’d play with my hair lightly and give me a kiss to my forehead as I drifted off. He hasn’t always been this comforting especially when we first met, but he warmed up in time and I'm so glad that I stayed with him the whole time.
“Did you want to dance with me?” He questioned.
“I really did, but then I had Diavolo, Lucifer, Solomon, Simeon, and Mammon constantly asking. And now my social battery is fucking gone. I'm sorry, id love to dance but I'm exhausted. It’s the whole reason I came out here.” I confessed, my feet ached, and my ears were ringing from the loud music playing.
“You were the only one I wanted to dance with because you know when I want to stop and you do, the others just constantly begged for me to keep dancing, Simeon being the only exception.” I drawled, my words starting to slur slightly together as my exhaustion slowly started to catch up. It was at that moment when the new year clock began to count down, and everyone in the hall began to count down. They started from thirty.
“Look, there’s something I've been meaning to tell you for a while and… I just don't know how to say it.” Satan started speaking, I was solely focused on him and his words.
“The time we’ve spent together has been amazing and I wouldn’t wish for it to be any other way apart from one thing.” I raised an eyebrow at his statement, my confusion starting to sober me up.
“It’s just, I just… ugh, I want to know-” He was cut off from everyone inside getting louder:
“Ten.”
“Nine.”
“Eight.”
“Seven.”
“Six.”
“Five.”
“Look, I really want to be able to spend the rest of my life with you.”
“Four.”
“And I’d be so grateful if you would like to spend those years with me.”
“Three.”
“And I hate that it took me this long to be able to tell you.”
“Two.”
“To tell you that-”
“One.”
“I love you.”
“Happy New Year!” and with that, he kissed me. Slightly passionate and wanting, almost lustful. I kissed him back, wanting this for I can’t even remember how long.
“I love you too.” I whispered to him, as we broke the kiss. I've wanted this for ages, but I’d been too shy to be able to tell him.
“How about we get out of here.”
“But Lucifer has the house keys.”
“I already thought about that.” He held the keys in front of me and shook them slightly allowing them to jingle quietly.
“Then lets fucking leave!” I whisper yelled back to him.
