Anyone remember Silverwing, the book trilogy about bats by Kenneth Oppel? I was obsessed with them when I was 12-13 and would draw the villain, Goth, all over my sketchbook 😭😭

I‘m currently rereading the books (they still hold up!!) and wanted to draw Goth again, since he‘s still my favourite! I wanted the design to be inspired by my old rendition of him, the way he is portrayed in the new graphic novel and the actual animal! Might draw the other characters too, who knows 🤭

Also, I never watched the cartoon as a kid bc I didn‘t know where it aired. I watched some episodes now though and it … sure is .. something lmao

(Edit: I did see clips and pictures of the cartoon as a kid, which influenced the way I drew him, but I vividly remember not liking the cartoon designs much lol)

To celebrate The Bad Guys' film 2nd anniversary, I made photoshoot edits (partially colorized), adding colors closer to each character's 2D scheme.

Thinking of ✨them✨

I've been trying to redesign Goth a bit the last couple of days and push myself to actually have my characters…touching 😅IT'S A LOT HARDER THAN IT SHOULD BE 😭

I'm also trying to make my anthros fluffier, softer, and squishier. It's definitely pushing my art closer to pure anthro/furry than Sonic anthro type. Goth is a good one to practice on cause his ruff is the most fur I think any of my characters have lol. It's......challenging to design clothing around it tbh...But I can definitely see it changing my style ACTIVELY. It's wild. We'll see if this leads to an existential breakdown when I try to go back to hedgehogs. I promised myself I'd draw spicier Mephourge and Sonadow more this year and so far.....

not sure what the best way to go abt posting these is since theyre pretty big which results in the writing and details being very small ;; but someone on twt wanted this so here are some more in depth notes on my designs for the guys, mostly snake n webs since they had a bit more exploring that could be done because theyre less humanoid than the rest of the guys

certain things (like snake's cargo shorts and socks & sandals) were suggested by friends and tbh............felt so obvious i cant believe i didnt do it originally

when it comes to snake in particular i rly struggle with his outfits wrt color & balance; in canon he wears a brightly colored & patterned shirt paired with a neutral toned bucket hat, but making his pants and socks etc also neutral toned almost feels too plain, while adding patterns and bright colors to them makes everything clash too much, so striking that balance is smth im struggling with still. i am not a fashion expert lmao

ummmm yeah if anyone has any questions feel free 2 ask! i kno im probably straying p far from the movies' designs and style for these guys here but it was fun so whatever
