Memorias!
Aquellas palabras golpearon raro a Jeanne.
Eso hizo que Jeanne reaccionara de golpe.
—¡No te estaba mirando!
—¿Alguna vez has sentido amor?
—¿P-or qué…?
—Yo amo a mi madre…
—N-no puedes decir esas cosas tan fácilmente…—
—¿Por qué no? —
—No, Jeanne — Cereza sonrió apenas —.
—Quiero estar a tu lado.
Memory! Bayojeanne Week Day 3.-
I'm going to bed at 5 am every day because of BayoJeanne Week. But it's totally worth it. Before we begin, Bayonetta and Jeanne are first 8 years old, then 16, and finally adults.
Without further ado, keep reading! 🦡✨
The moon was completely destroyed. Balder was dead; there was no reason to keep fighting anymore. Everything was over. Cereza was safe and sound in her own universe, and now only she and Jeanne remained.
After so long, she could finally remember again. Being herself felt strange. She had slept for five hundred years, completely forgetting her first love. She had already been Jeanne’s wife before being sealed away. Feeling loved was something new to her now, and she hadn’t realized just how much she had missed it.
— What’s on your mind, Cereza? — Jeanne. Here she was.
The two of them were lying somewhere in the city, the damp grass cool against her back as they stared at the ruined moon above them. It felt like a quiet rest after the storm.
Slowly, Cereza turned over to look directly into Jeanne’s eyes. She looked so calm, so at peace. Cereza let out a soft sigh. There were so many questions crowding her mind in that moment, but she didn’t want to break the comfortable silence between them.
— Jeanne… — Cereza fell silent for a few seconds, as if carefully thinking through her question. — How did you propose to me? I… I want to remember it, but… I can’t—
— Oh, well… it started as a childhood promise, and everything happened because of one simple argument… —
Young little Jeanne already had her destiny decided for her. She would become the heir to the Umbra Witches and someday lead her clan. But to Jeanne, it was exhausting. There were days when she genuinely wondered, Is this really what I want for my life? She was proud to belong to the clan, yet to everyone around her, she was nothing more than the clan’s most important weapon. No friends. No social life. Nothing beyond duty and training.
Well… that was until she met that strange little girl.
Jeanne had never imagined that a witch could fall in love with a Sage, yet that girl was born from both worlds. Jeanne had the habit of sneaking out of the witches’ convent whenever she could, and during one of those escapes, she met someone who would change her life forever.
A vast path surrounded by trees and overgrown brush stretched through the forest. Hidden behind one of the trees, Jeanne watched a small girl with long black hair clutching a stuffed toy named Cheshire. That plush was incredibly precious to their dear Cereza.
Maybe it was because Jeanne was an Umbra Witch, or maybe because Cereza had never seen anyone besides her mother before, but the moment Jeanne stared directly at her, Cereza immediately started running, as if she were escaping from somewhere she wasn’t supposed to be.
— Hey… wait for me! — Jeanne ran after the strange little girl. Even though Cereza was agile, Jeanne caught up quickly. Her Umbra training had forced her to become fast in terrain like this.
Like a cat pouncing on its prey, Jeanne leapt onto the smaller girl, sending both of them tumbling across the ground for several meters before finally stopping face to face—Jeanne on top, Cereza trapped beneath her.
— Where did you come from? Who are you? —Cereza tried to answer, but Jeanne’s serious and naturally commanding personality made her freeze in silence for a few seconds first.
— I’m… Cereza… — Her nervous voice barely came out. Though honestly, she wasn’t even paying much attention to the white-haired girl anymore; instead, she was desperately searching around for her beloved plushie.
— And I’m Jeanne! — The cheerful tone in Jeanne’s voice caught Cereza off guard. Why wasn’t she as cold as she had expected? Jeanne quickly noticed Cereza looking around anxiously.
— Are you searching for something? Before you ran off like a scared cat, I saw you carrying a cute stuffed toy —Jeanne stood up and offered her hand to Cereza, helping her to her feet so the two of them could search together for the missing plushie, completely unaware that they were about to begin a beautiful story.
The forest suddenly felt much larger as the two girls wandered through the brush searching for the lost toy. Jeanne pushed branches aside with ease while Cereza followed quietly behind her, still nervous around the overwhelming energy of this unfamiliar girl. To Jeanne, though, Cereza was unbelievably adorable. Besides, she was the first child Jeanne had ever interacted with in a friendly way instead of through another miserable training session.
— So… what does your plushie look like? — Jeanne asked while searching beneath crushed flowers and dry branches.
— It’s a cat… well, not really… his name is Cheshire — Cereza replied softly, her nervousness obvious. She had never spoken to someone her own age without being called a freak.
— You gave it a name? — Jeanne glanced back in surprise. She had never owned a stuffed toy before. Never anything like that. She barely even remembered her mother. The woman had left her there since birth; she had practically been raised entirely by the other witches.
Cereza nodded slowly.
— Mom says I shouldn’t leave him alone because he protects me — That earned a small laugh from Jeanne. Not a mocking one, but something soft and genuine that even surprised Jeanne herself. It had been a very long time since she had talked to someone… especially someone this strange.
— Then we better find him before he fails at his job — The comment made Cereza smile faintly.
After several more minutes, Jeanne suddenly stopped after noticing something hanging between the roots of a tree.
— There he is! I’m sure he went flying when we fell and landed right there! — She rushed toward the tiny plush covered in dirt and leaves, lifting it triumphantly before walking back toward Cereza and holding it out to her.
Cereza’s eyes lit up instantly, as though Jeanne had returned something far more important than a simple toy.
— Cheshire… — She hugged the plush tightly against her chest.
Jeanne watched the scene in silence. It felt strange. Very strange. Back at the convent, everything revolved around discipline, perfection, and training… but this girl seemed to live in an entirely different world. A warmer one. Jeanne had never imagined someone could feel so happy over something so simple, especially while both of them were covered in mud and dirt from their fall.
— You’re weird — Jeanne blurted out without thinking.
Cereza blinked in confusion.
— Huh…? —
— I don’t mean it in a bad way — Jeanne crossed her arms quickly. — I’ve just never seen someone smile so much over a stuffed toy —
Cereza lowered her gaze toward Cheshire before answering quietly.
— I’ve never really had friends… so he was always with me. And my mother gave him to me. I almost never get to see her… —
Those words hit Jeanne strangely hard.
Because she didn’t have friends either.
And one thought echoed through her mind:
Is she the daughter of the traitor?
To Jeanne, it all felt painfully ironic. Someone had chosen love once… only to be condemned to loneliness forever afterward. In the end, the outcome had been the same.
The wind rustled through the trees, and for a brief moment, both girls simply stared at one another, as if they understood something without needing words.
Then Jeanne spoke again.
— Then… I can be your friend —
Cereza’s eyes widened immediately.
— F-friend…? —
— Yeah, well… if you want — Jeanne looked away with fake pride. — But don’t get too excited —
And for the first time in a very long while, Cereza let out a small laugh.
Before Jeanne even had time to react, Cereza wrapped her arms around her in a sudden hug. It was the first genuine embrace Jeanne had received in years. At first, she wanted to pull away, but the warmth surrounding her felt so comforting that, for once in her life, she decided to give in to her emotions.
It had been quite some time since Jeanne and Cereza became best friends. More and more often, Jeanne would sneak out of the witches’ convent just to visit Cereza. She enjoyed being with her so much that it slowly became the only thing she truly looked forward to.
But for Jeanne, those feelings had started to become something far more romantic.
Cereza was always so lively and special that she could make Jeanne smile without even trying. Cereza wassomeone precious to her—someone who had become deeply important to her life.
Jeanne had never imagined that one person could change her entire routine so completely.
Before meeting Cereza, every day had been exactly the same. Wake up. Train. Study ancient rituals. Endure the endless pressure of becoming the next Umbra heir… then collapse into bed exhausted, only to repeat everything again the next morning.
But now, every afternoon gave her something to wait for.
Just the thought of sneaking out of the convent made her heart race with excitement. Climbing over walls, wandering through the forest, and finally finding little Cereza waiting for her with that enormous smile had become the best part of her days.
As if she needed her just to breathe.
— Jeanne! — Cereza’s cheerful voice always rang out before she ran toward her.
And Jeanne always pretended to stay serious.
— Don’t yell so loudly. Someone might hear you, and I’d hate for us to get separated — Even if, deep down, she was always happy to see her.
As time passed, the two of them began sharing small moments that Jeanne treasured dearly.
Lying on the grass while staring at the clouds, competing to see who could climb trees higher, or listening to Cereza invent ridiculous stories about magical creatures hidden deep within the forest.
Jeanne even started laughing more.
Much more.
Something the other witches slowly began to notice.
— You’ve been smiling far too much lately — one of the instructors commented one morning.
Jeanne immediately forced her usual serious expression back onto her face.
— You’re imagining nonsense — The Umbra witch merely raised an eyebrow before continuing the training session.
But it was a lie.
Because every time Jeanne thought about Cereza, warmth filled her chest.
And that feeling had started to scare her a little.
Not because there was anything wrong with Cereza, or because she disliked her. Quite the opposite. But Jeanne was the future bearer of the Left Eye. She wasn’t supposed to have distractions. She wasn’t supposed to grow attached to someone.
Especially not the daughter of the “traitor.”
Jeanne had already seen what happened to Cereza’s mother.
God… neither of them deserved that fate.
One afternoon, the two of them rested on a massive tree branch after spending hours playing together. Cereza rambled endlessly while hugging Cheshire close to her chest, completely relaxed beside Jeanne. Even at fifteen years old, she still carried Cheshire everywhere.
It was unbelievably adorable.
— And then the rabbit fell into the river because he tried to fight a crow… although maybe it was a duck… I don’t really remember—
Jeanne barely listened to the story.
In truth, she was too busy staring at her.
The way the wind moved through Cereza’s black hair… the way her eyes sparkled whenever she spoke… even the tiny expressions she made when she got excited.
Everything about her seemed beautiful.
Far too beautiful.
— Jeanne? — Cereza tilted her head slightly.
— Why are you staring at me so much? — Jeanne immediately snapped out of it.
— I wasn’t staring at you!—
— Yes, you were —
— No, I wasn’t —
— Yes, you were— Jeanne quickly turned her face away, suddenly aware of how warm her cheeks had become.
Cereza let out a small giggle.
That only made Jeanne even more nervous.
Because she was beginning to realize something dangerous.
She no longer wanted Cereza to be just her friend.
She wanted to stay by her side forever.
— Have you ever been in love? — Jeanne nearly jumped in surprise. Her eyes widened slightly, and she immediately looked away again as heat rushed violently to her face.
Had Cereza figured it out?
Was everything she felt really that obvious?
— N-never… — she answered far too quickly.
Cereza watched her quietly, hugging her knees to her chest while Cheshire rested beside her.
— Oh… — The disappointment in her voice hit Jeanne strangely hard.
— Why are you asking that all of a sudden? —
Jeanne tried to sound composed.
Cereza took a few seconds before answering.
— Because I think I am in love —
Jeanne’s heart lurched so hard it almost hurt.
Her fingers tightened against the grass beneath her, and her voice turned nervous.
— W-why…?—
— Because Mom always talks about love like it’s something important — Cereza answered innocently. — She says that when you love someone, you want to protect them and stay by their side all the time—
Every word made Jeanne more anxious.
Because that was exactly how she felt.
— I love my mother… — Cereza continued softly. — But with you, it feels different —
Jeanne felt her cheeks burn hotter.
— You make me feel happy even when I’m sad… and I always want you to come see me again —
Cereza turned slightly toward her, offering her a small, sincere smile.
— I think I love you very much, Jeanne. And you could be Cheshire’s mother! We’d be like a family! —
That completely shattered whatever composure the future Umbra heir had left.
Jeanne immediately looked away, trying to ignore the violent pounding of her heart.
— Y-you can’t say things like that so easily…—
— Why not? —
— B-because… because it’s not something simple! —
Cereza tilted her head in confusion.
— But it’s true —
And that was the worst part.
Because Cereza said it with such innocent honesty that Jeanne had no idea how to defend herself against it.
For several long seconds, neither of them spoke.
Then, very slowly, Jeanne clenched the fabric of her own clothes before quietly murmuring:
— I don’t really understand love either… —
Cereza looked at her attentively.
— But when I’m with you… it feels easier to breathe —
Cereza’s eyes widened slightly.
Jeanne almost never spoke this honestly.
— And when I can’t come see you… I miss you too much — Jeanne continued softly. — So I guess… maybe I also…—
The words died in her throat from pure embarrassment.
But Cereza was already smiling.
A warm, happy smile, completely filled with love.
And then, for the very first time, Cereza gently took Jeanne’s hand.
Jeanne immediately tensed up… though she didn’t pull away.
Instead, she slowly held her hand back.
And with that small touch between their fingers, they understood everything.
They didn’t need words to know what both of them had already realized in silence.
The night was absurdly quiet.
The sound of insects, the soft wind brushing through the grass, and the warmth of Cereza’s body against hers made Jeanne’s chest feel unbearably tight. No matter how long they had been together, she still felt vulnerable every time Cereza looked at her with that impossibly gentle expression.
And it only became worse whenever they spoke about the Left Eye.
Jeanne stayed silent for a few more seconds, avoiding looking directly at her. Her Umbra pride hated admitting it, but deep down she believed one thing completely:
Cereza had surpassed everything Jeanne had once been.
Stronger.
More determined.
More extraordinary.
— What’s troubling you, darling? — Cereza’s body was completely bare, faint scratches scattered across her arms and back thanks to Jeanne herself. Even after all the years they had spent together, Jeanne still blushed whenever she saw her like this. Her perfect body. The marks Jeanne herself had left behind.
— You deserve to become the successor of the Left Eye… — Jeanne finally murmured. — You have to admit you’re stronger than me now. You’ve surpassed me in every way I ever trained you to—
Cereza didn’t answer immediately.
Instead, she slowly moved closer and wrapped Jeanne in her arms, pulling her gently against her chest as though she wanted to shield her from the entire world. Jeanne immediately felt her heartbeat quicken.
Because Cereza always did this.
She always made Jeanne’s insecurities feel smaller… sometimes like they disappeared entirely.
Jeanne often felt insecure about her own body. She was too thin. Too flat. Nothing like Cereza. Tall, strong, soft curves, powerful and beautiful in ways Jeanne felt she could never compare to. And every single time Jeanne mentioned it, Cereza would look at her as though she were someone precious. Perfect. Beautiful.
The silence between them wasn’t uncomfortable.
It was warm.
Jeanne listened to Cereza’s steady breathing while the stars dimly illuminated the forest clearing around them. Then she felt Cereza’s hand carefully slide through her white hair. Her hair had always been one of her weak points… and Cereza’s touch was even worse.
— You know what I think? — Cereza finally spoke softly.
— What…? —
— I think you always try to carry everything alone —
Jeanne closed her eyes slightly.
— I’m the Umbra heir. It’s my duty to admit when someone is stronger than me —
— No, Jeanne — Cereza smiled faintly. — That’s the problem. You always talk about duties… never about what youwant. It’s always the same thing: “Heir of the Left Eye.” —
That hit directly at Jeanne’s chest.
Because she didn’t even know how to answer that question herself.
What did she truly want?
The clan.
Duty.
Responsibility.
Her entire life revolved around those things.
But then Cereza gently lifted Jeanne’s chin, forcing her to look at her.
— I don’t want to be more important than you. I don’t care about titles — Cereza’s voice was calm, sincere, relaxed.
— I want to stay by your side. That’s different. My mother was an heir too, and she still fell in love. I know I’m strong—maybe even stronger than you now—but I would still choose you over some damned clan that abandoned me the moment I was born —
Jeanne felt a horrible knot tighten in her throat.
And before she could answer with something cold or prideful to hide how deeply those words affected her, Cereza suddenly let out a small laugh.
— Besides, you’re way too beautiful when you worry like this. Even when you make that terrifying witch face. When we were children, you used to scare me with that serious expression —
— Terrifying witch…? —
Jeanne finally let out an incredulous laugh. She had never thought of herself that way. She had only ever tried to be strong.
— Mhm. You can be scary sometimes. I think the other witches are afraid of you too —
— I trained you too well if you’re still talking back to me like this —
— And yet you still lose arguments with me, kitty — That finally made Jeanne bury her face against Cereza, completely defeated.
And while the two of them remained beneath the stars, Jeanne realized something the Umbra convent had never taught her:
Love was not a battle to prove who was stronger.
It was finding someone capable of holding you together, even when you no longer knew who you were yourself.
— Fine. I’ll go to the convent and fight you just to prove I’m stronger than you —
That completely caught Jeanne off guard. She had never expected Cereza to agree to something like that.
Did she really just decide that?
That was unusual…
— But that doesn’t mean I’m stronger than you —
One of Cereza’s hands gently caressed Jeanne’s cheek, forcing her to look at her again.
— To me, you’re stronger. You taught me everything I know. You taught me how to love you… and what it means to be loved —
Before Jeanne could say anything, Cereza shook her head slightly and continued:
— On one condition. You have to marry me — The moment those words left her mouth, Jeanne shot upright so quickly that her entire bare body became visible beneath the moonlight. Then she let out a scream so loud that the birds resting nearby burst from the trees and flew into the night sky.
— WHAT?! —
— And that’s how you proposed to me —
Cereza’s playful laughter filled the quiet night.
— And I kept my promise, my kitty —
With that, Cereza leaned closer to press soft kisses across Jeanne’s face. To her, Jeanne would always remain the strongest woman in the entire world… and the most beautiful one too.
BAYOJEANNE WEEK 2026, DAY 3 : FLOWERS // MEMORY #BayoJeanneWeek2026 #BYJNWEEK2026
¡Variants! Day 2.-
I HATE GOOGLE TRANSLATE.
Before starting this one-shot, all the variations fall in love with Jeanne and screw canon 🦡🦌✨✨
While Cereza was far too busy saving the universe, Jeanne stayed behind her, killing the remaining Homunculi, although Jeanne didn’t know there were “variants of themselves,” and she was going to have MANY complications with every single one of them.
In Tokyo, Japan, a Jeanne was cleaning up the remaining Homunculi, taking care of Cereza’s dirty work. While distracted, she had no idea someone was staring at her intensely.
— Ugh, disgusting, Cereza should clean up the leftovers of her own disasters — disgust reflected across Jeanne’s face. With that Homunculus dead, it would be the last one remaining.
— Alright, time to move to the next universe — before jumping into the next universe, something dragged her from behind and hurled her into a building, the impact so strong it almost sent her through it completely.
— Well, well… what do we have here? — β1 emerged from the rubble. Jeanne, still dazed from the hit, barely lifted her gaze to see her… Bayonetta? In different clothes? Pointing a yo-yo at her?
— You? You’re not my Cereza. — she quickly got back up to create some distance from β1, although β1 lowered her weapon after noticing the peculiar Jeanne standing before her eyes.
— Obviously not, sweetness. I’m β1, and you look lovely today, Jeanne — Jeanne nearly had a panic attack hearing her name come out of β1’s mouth.
β1 helped Jeanne back to her feet while Jeanne brushed the remains of the building off her outfit. β1 accompanied her on a walk while explaining the tragedy that had happened in her universe and how her magic had been weakening over time. She didn’t die, but she no longer felt the same, which was why she couldn’t leave that universe, so she stayed there killing the remaining Homunculi.
— And that’s the whole story, sweetness — she let out an exhausted sigh — Sometimes doing this gets tiring, but knowing you’re here is making it hard for me to focus on the tragedy. — β1’s eyes looked directly at Jeanne flirtatiously as she slid a hand over her shoulder to pull her closer.
— Are you flirting with me? — Jeanne stepped away slightly in shock, though she blushed and looked away. She looked exactly like her own Bayonetta talking to her, and that made her extremely nervous.
— Awww… do I make you nervous, my little kitten? — β1’s lips slowly moved closer to Jeanne’s, their breaths brushing against each other.
Jeanne tried to maintain a serious expression, but her nerves were showing completely whenever she avoided β1’s gaze at all costs.
— Don’t say stupid things… — she muttered, though her voice came out far more nervous than usual.
That only made β1 smile.
— Then look at me and tell me you don’t want to kiss me.
The silence between them became unbearably warm. Jeanne barely parted her lips to answer, but no words came out.
All she felt was β1 shortening the remaining distance slowly, giving her time to pull away… even though she knew perfectly well she wouldn’t.
And Jeanne didn’t.
The kiss started softly, almost shyly, barely a brush that made Jeanne immediately close her eyes. But the moment β1 felt Jeanne clutching onto her clothes, she smiled against her lips and kissed her again with more confidence, slowly teasing her.
Jeanne let out a small muffled sigh, completely red.
The kiss would’ve turned into something more, but a portal to jump into the next universe appeared before them and dragged them both into the next world.
In ancient China, a β2 walked through her palace. She had defeated the last remaining Homunculi, but she felt deeply saddened. An empire once forged by her own hand had disappeared because of this infection, as she called it. Her people, her army, everything had vanished thanks to those Homunculi, and she felt disappointed in herself for failing to save her own people.
Before she could drown in her thoughts, Jeanne and β1 were thrown directly toward β2. β2 reacted quickly and caught Jeanne before she hit the ground. She didn’t care much about β1, who crashed directly into the floor.
With her left eye, she carefully examined the Jeanne in her arms. Maybe… just maybe, she found this Jeanne a little beautiful. With one hand, she brushed away a strand of hair from Jeanne’s forehead, revealing her beautiful face.
Jeanne slowly opened her eyes. The sunlight stung badly, but β2’s beautiful face blocked the sun for her. Jeanne adored β2’s face; her scars seemed so beautiful and sexy to her.
— Ahem. — β1’s voice interrupted them. β2 and Jeanne snapped out of their trance, stopping their intense staring before turning toward β1 as she got up from the ground. β2 allowed Jeanne to stand and kept a certain distance between them afterward.
— So… who exactly are you two? — β2 raised an eyebrow while staring directly at β1, as though analyzing her.
— I’m β1, and Jeanne… she’s complicated. — she answered with a crooked smile while dusting off her clothes. Jeanne immediately narrowed her eyes, offended by the comment.
— Hey —
β2 let out a faint nasal chuckle after noticing Jeanne’s reaction. It was barely visible, but Jeanne managed to see it… and for a moment, it made her chest feel strangely tight.
— Complicated, huh? — β2 crossed her arms, resting her weight on one leg — That makes sense. My Jeanne was the same way.
— What exactly is THAT supposed to mean?! — Jeanne frowned, still slightly flushed from what had happened with β1 before arriving here.
β1 burst into amused laughter.
— That you look constantly annoyed.
Jeanne opened her mouth to answer but ended up falling silent when she felt β2’s gaze on her again. It wasn’t uncomfortable… it was intense and calculating.
The wind slightly moved β2’s hair, revealing the scars on her face more clearly. Jeanne couldn’t help staring at them again. She didn’t know why they seemed so beautiful to her. There was something about them… something real.
β2 noticed Jeanne staring and slightly raised an eyebrow.
— Is there something on my face?
Jeanne reacted instantly.
— N-No! I just…—
β1 smiled flirtatiously after noticing the scene.
— Ohhh… now I get it.
— Shut up, — Jeanne muttered, feeling the heat rising to her face.
β2 looked away for a second, but a tiny smile appeared at the corner of her lips. So small that Jeanne doubted it had even happened.
And somehow, that only made everything worse for her.
— Anyway — β1 interrupted the moment — Jeanne and I were destroying the last Homunculi before we got dragged here. What about you? — Jeanne stared at β1 because she knew THAT wasn’t the last thing they had been doing, turning her blushing face away.
— Before this beautiful 心肝 appeared — she pointed at Jeanne, who blushed even harder again, God, they were going to kill her with all this flirting — I finished killing those Homunculi. — she pointed at a pile of perfectly stacked corpses.
And then they began having a comfortable conversation. β2 started walking beside β1 while talking about their experiences fighting those creatures. β2 slowly moved closer to Jeanne to the point where she wrapped an arm around her waist to keep her there.
Jeanne felt far too small beside the imposing variants of her Bayonetta. Being between both of them made her nervous… very nervous, without realizing things were only going to get worse.
Before they could continue walking, all the girls were dragged into another multiverse.
Maybe this will get better?
Somewhere in an arid desert, β3 was fighting several Homunculi at the same time. They outnumbered her, and her defeat was inevitable, but before she could give up, β1 and β2 appeared just in time to start fighting those creatures.
Jeanne did the same, but her attacks looked like dance steps. Little by little, she began moving closer to β3, and their movements started synchronizing, as if they were dancing a classical dance they had practiced for years.
β3’s shy reaction was obvious. She had never fought with such synchronization before, except with her own Jeanne. Though this Jeanne looked far too similar… almost as if she were without her golden accessories.
While the other variants were distracted, β3 and Jeanne had finished off the Homunculi faster than expected. Maybe their synchronization and connection made it possible.
— You’re another variant, right? — Jeanne’s sweet voice became noticeable, making β3 blush lightly. She had always been attracted to her own Jeanne, but this one was the same, and her voice made her melt.
— Y-Yes… sorry, you look so pretty while fighting.
Jeanne let out a small laugh at the sudden compliment. Even in the middle of the desert and surrounded by dead Homunculi, this variant was still adorably shy and cute.
— Pretty? — Jeanne tilted her head slightly, stepping a little closer to β3 — You don’t look bad either.
That was enough to make β3 immediately look away. Her face burned as she tried to clean the green fluid off her sword.
From afar, β1 let out a teasing laugh.
— Oh, look at them, flirting again already.
— Leave them alone — β2 replied while resting her weapon over her shoulder — at least someone here knows how to socialize.
β3 wished she could bury herself in the sand.
— Stop teasing her already, you’re going to make her die from nervousness. She looks like a trembling stray cat. — Jeanne stepped closer to hold her hand, trying to calm her down, though it looked like she might actually die from embarrassment right there.
— I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to…—
β3 couldn’t even finish her sentences properly. Her words stumbled over themselves while she avoided looking directly at Jeanne. Just the contact of their hands completely disarmed her.
Jeanne let out a soft laugh.
— Relax, it doesn’t even bother me. — Gently, she intertwined her fingers better with β3’s, noticing how the other variant jumped slightly in surprise. To Jeanne, she was just too cute.
— See? She’s trembling even more now— β2 commented with a crooked smile.
— I think she’s going to faint before more Homunculi even arrive — β1 added playfully.
β3 covered part of her face with her other hand, completely embarrassed.
It was impossible not to find her adorable; this variant had a much sweeter and more nervous personality than hers. Jeanne leaned a little closer to her.
— Ignore them — she murmured softly — they tease you because they’re jealous.
β3 slowly lifted her gaze. Their eyes met for barely a second, but it was enough to make her even redder.
Without realizing it, they were about to jump into another multiverse again.
— Oh no — β1 smiled far too excitedly — we’re jumping again.
— AGAIN?! — Jeanne practically yelled. She was so tired of these variants that she needed a break.
β3 reacted quickly, grabbing Jeanne’s hand before the portal fully opened.
— Don’t separate from us.
And right before disappearing into the distortion, Jeanne heard β1 laughing:
— If you survive meeting all our versions, officially you’re staying with us.
Jeanne didn’t know what to expect anymore, but these variants were already getting inside her head. They were so cute and overwhelming that she was going to end up falling in love with every single one of them.
In France, after escaping Singularity’s mind control, β4 had been left there by Bayonetta, who mentioned that her Jeanne would come for her.
She had already started getting bored. After killing a few Homunculi for fun and practicing some magic tricks, her boredom became obvious and she started playing with her staff.
— Ugh, how much longer do I have to wait for that damn bitch Jeanne? — her foot started tapping impatiently. β4 was not known for her patience; even Enzeau knew that.
β4 kept hitting the ground with the tip of her staff.
Tap.
Tap.
Tap.
Each sound seemed more aggressive than the last.
— I swear if Jeanne takes another ten minutes, I’m going to start killing civilians for entertainment… — β4 sighed heavily and dropped onto a destroyed fountain. The sky was still covered in smoke and glowing particles after Singularity’s attack.
Several meters away, a dimensional crack began opening in front of her.
And from the other side, she could hear voices.
Many voices.
— Bayonetta said only she would come… could it be the others?… — she listened more carefully again.
Too many voices.
Far too many to belong to only Jeanne.
β4 made an expression of absolute horror.
— No. No, no, NO… tell me that idiot isn’t bringing other versions of me with her—
The crack finally opened.
And the first thing that came out was Jeanne falling face-first onto the ground.
— That’s not a very elegant landing, sweetheart. — β3’s voice echoed as the other variants landed far more gracefully. β1 landed spinning dramatically like it was part of a performance, β2 barely touched the ground with the tips of her heels, and β3 landed on her knees beside Jeanne, still holding her hand.
Jeanne, meanwhile, remained face-down on the French pavement, completely exhausted and defeated. These variants were going to kill her before any Homunculus ever could.
— I think I’m going to… throw up… — she muttered against the floor.
— Dramatic — β1 walked past her without helping.
— I think she hit her head pretty hard, — β2 commented, though she was clearly trying not to laugh.
Before Jeanne could complain, a shadow projected itself in front of them.
Silence.
A heavy silence.
Slow.
Dangerous.
Jeanne barely lifted her head… and found another Bayonetta staring at them with an expression somewhere between disbelief and absolute annoyance.
β4 Arms crossed, one eyebrow raised, heel tapping impatiently against the ground.
— …Explain to me why there are three versions of me here before I decide to shoot someone. Bayonetta said YOU were coming alone, not you and three versions of her—
Jeanne froze.
— Oh, this one’s insane— a playful smile appeared on β2’s face.
— You shut up — β4 answered instantly.
β3 finally helped Jeanne back up, though she still held her by the waist to keep her from falling over again from dimensional dizziness.
Bad idea.
Because β4 slowly lowered her gaze toward β3’s hand.
Then toward Jeanne.
Then back toward β3.
And narrowed her eyes.
— Ah… I see.
— You don’t understand anything — Jeanne answered way too quickly.
— I understand perfectly — β4 smiled maliciously — they’re flirting with you and your brain already stopped functioning. So… is it my turn to flirt with you too?
— MY BRAIN WORKS PERFECTLY!
— Of course it does, darling — β2 interrupted playfully — you’ve been red for three universes already.
Jeanne genuinely felt the urge to open another portal and throw herself into it.
Meanwhile, β4 started walking around the group, analyzing them as if she were evaluating a biological threat.
— Fascinating… an arrogant version of me — she pointed at β1.
— Thanks.
— A mature and dangerous version — she looked at β2.
β2 gave a small elegant bow.
— And an emotionally dependent version. — she finished while staring at β3, who was still standing far too close to Jeanne.
β3 frowned.
— I’m not dependent—
— You’ve been hugging her since you arrived—
β3 immediately let go of Jeanne.
Jeanne almost fell over again.
After β3 released Jeanne, β4 approached her slowly in an almost predatory way.
— Well, Cereza never told me such a cute version of Jeanne would come rescue me. So? Are you here to save me? Or will I need to kiss you awake instead? — β4’s hand wrapped around Jeanne’s waist, pressing their hips together.
— I… — Jeanne became nervous again. Were all the variants this flirtatious with her? Or just her? But β4 didn’t even give her time to think. Slowly, β4’s mouth moved closer toward Jeanne’s, her grayish eyes beginning to hypnotize her, and Jeanne unconsciously started leaning in too.
Their breathing felt painfully close. Just inches away from their lips touching, a familiar voice suddenly echoed.
— What the HELL are you doing with MY Jeanne?! — Cereza, the original, finally appeared. She had been searching for Jeanne for so long that her exhaustion was obvious.
— Babe, you look like a Homunculus swallowed you and spat you back out on the same day. —
β1’s voice broke the uncomfortable silence. Even though β2 and β3 tried not to laugh, small smiles still became visible.
— It would’ve only been a little French kiss, sweetheart. Besides, we’re exactly the same, so technically she wouldn’t be cheating, right? — β4 pulled away from Jeanne with a shameless grin, enjoying Cereza’s horrified expression far too much.
Jeanne could perfectly hear the wind passing through the destroyed buildings of France… and she could also hear her soul slowly leaving her body.
— Jeanne— Cereza spoke with terrifying calmness — explain to me why another me was two centimeters away from kissing you.
Cereza finally approached the group. Her exhaustion was obvious: slightly smeared makeup, a few new scratches, and hair slightly messy after probably crossing half the multiverse trying to find this damn universe to see if Jeanne was here.
— …Dear God — she muttered while bringing a hand to her forehead. She was far too stressed, trying to calm herself before she beat β4 bloody — there are too many of us.
— And all gorgeous — β4 winked.
— You’re the worst.
— Thank you, darling.
Jeanne wanted to disappear.
β3 moved slightly closer to Jeanne almost instinctively, but that only made things worse because Cereza lowered her gaze toward the closeness between them.
Then slowly raised an eyebrow.
— Ah. I understand several things now.
— THIS DOESN’T MEAN WHAT YOU THINK! — Jeanne answered so quickly that even β2 let out a small laugh.
— Jeanne — Cereza crossed her arms — you’ve been red since I arrived.
— Because all of you are impossible!
— Oh, she’s definitely falling in love with all of us, — β1 said it like she was analyzing a scientific phenomenon.
— CAN YOU STOP SAYING THAT?!
β4 started openly laughing while walking around Cereza.
— I have to admit it, original… you have excellent taste.
— Stay away from my wife. —
The entire group went silent for two seconds.
Jeanne stopped breathing.
β2 smiled elegantly.
β1 looked seconds away from exploding with laughter.
And β3… β3 looked genuinely affected hearing that word.
— Ohhhh… “my wife” — β4 placed a hand dramatically over her chest — that was adorably toxic.
Cereza immediately pulled Jeanne against her by the waist.
— Next time you try kissing my Jeanne, I’ll rip off your heels and beat you with them—
β4 smiled sideways.
— That sounded strangely romantic.
