Paul was in absolute shock when he imprinted on you of all people. Not that there was anything wrong with you, it was just that you were complete opposite. Imprinting was supposed to bring the wolf close to his soul match. You… were not what he expected.
He had a filthy mouth and a roaring temper, but you were shy and flushed if someone even hinted at sex. The pack would find ways to make jabs at him, saying things like ‘maybe she’ll show you some patience’ or ‘I’m waiting for her to threaten you with a bar of soap for that potty mouth.’ It was frustrating beyond belief, but being with you was actually really nice. He hated having to control himself, but he adored you so he dealt with it.
“FUCKING SHIT!” You swore as the last Pokémon on your team died. This was your third time attempting to beat the elite four and you had JUST made it to the champion. You shut your DS and threw it to the other end of the couch, crossing your arms and letting out an angry huff.
You looked up to see everyone in the room staring straight at you, jaws practically touching the floor. “Did she just-” “Yeah dude.” You flushed as you realized that this was the first time any of them had heard you swear. “What the fuck Y/N?” You looked to your boyfriend, who looked the most appalled of them all. “Um…. sorry?” You offered sheepishly.
He shook his head and a grin spread across his face. “Don’t be. God I love you.”
the second paul even smells that something is off with you, he knows. you don’t even have to say it.
he can hear the shift in your heartbeat, the slight change in your scent, and the way your body temp differs weirdly for a human.
you try to brush it off like, “it’s just a cold, i’m fine,” and paul growls. literally growls.
“you’re burning up. you’re not fine. don’t lie to me, baby.”
paul doesn’t just bring you medicine, he interrogates the pharmacist to make sure it won’t mess with your body in any way. he’s standing at the counter like:
“okay but how fast does it work? what side effects? can it interact with wolf scent? i don’t care if that’s not a real concern, just answer me.”
he scoops you up in his arms like it’s nothing, even if you were just walking across the kitchen to grab water. carries you straight to bed with zero room for protest.
“no arguments. you’re resting. doctor paul’s orders.”
he becomes the most overprotective boyfriend ever when you’re sick.
he won’t let anyone come near you, not even the pack, just in case they bring more germs. he even considers fighting the air for making your nose stuffy.
he wraps you in blankets like a burrito and makes sure you always have tea or soup nearby.
he’s awful at cooking, but he tries so hard.
you caught him squinting at the back of a noodle packet once like it was a medical exam.
if you’re too tired to eat, he bribes you like you’re a kid. “come on, baby. just a few bites and i’ll let you sleep on my chest for the next ten hours, promise.”
and yes, he does let you use his chest as your personal pillow. in fact, he insists.
he’ll sit propped up on the couch or bed with his arms around you and stroke your back gently while you nap. his hand never stops moving.
he’ll run you warm baths and sit on the floor next to the tub with his arms crossed like a grumpy guard dog. “i’m not letting you drown in your own steam.”
paul is already touchy on a good day, but when you’re sick? oh, baby. you become his emotional support stuffed animal. he’s wrapped around you like a weighted blanket, refusing to leave your side for any reason.
you shift under the covers trying to get comfortable and suddenly he’s there, pressing up behind you like:
“where are you going?”
“…to roll over?”
“no. that’s too far. stay right here.”
and if you even hint at getting up without him? oh, he’s offended.
“you’re not walking around like that, your knees are wobbly.”
“paul, i just want to pee—”
“then i’m coming with you.”
“YOU ARE NOT.”
he constantly touches you to reassure himself you’re there. tracing lazy patterns on your arms, pressing his lips to your temple every ten minutes, rubbing your back like it helps him more than it helps you.
he insists on holding you at all times. you’re laying on your side? he’s spooning you. on your back? his head’s on your stomach. sitting up? he’s curled around your waist like a child with separation anxiety.
the wolf side of him gets agitated easily because he hates seeing his imprint in any kind of pain. he’ll clench his jaw so hard it clicks, and you have to gently touch his arm and remind him, “hey, i’ll be okay.”
the only thing that calms him down is being close to you, so he ends up just crawling into bed behind you and wrapping himself around you like a giant heater.
you try to tell him to go do something else, to not get sick, and he just looks at you with those intense brown eyes and goes:
“sweetheart, if you think i’m leaving you like this, you really don’t know me at all.”
he starts calling you the softest pet names while you’re sick. “baby girl,” “my love,” “sweetheart,” “my sunshine”, like he has to compensate for how awful you feel by giving you the warmest words.
soft moments where you’re too exhausted to keep your eyes open and he brushes your hair back from your forehead and kisses it, whispering:
“get better, baby. i’ve got you.”
he will growl at the thermometer if it says your fever went up. growl. like it personally insulted him.
“this thing’s broken. no way she’s still sick.”
if you’re coughing a lot, paul will panic. like actual panic. “is it in your chest? does it feel tight? are you dizzy? do i need to take you to carlisle?”
will 100% threaten to shift and carry you to the cullen house if he thinks you’re hiding symptoms. you have to beg him to stay human.
“paul, no! are you crazy? you can’t run through town with me on your back!”
“wanna bet?”
the clinginess gets worse at night. you wake up sweating and try to move away from his furnace body but nope.
“don’t go,” he mumbles, half-asleep, pulling you back in.
“you’re burning up, paul—”
“then we’ll burn together.”
he sulks dramatically when you say you need “space” to breathe. like throws his head back on the pillow and sighs like you’ve personally broken his heart.
“fine. abandon me. in my time of need.”
the worst part? he doesn’t even realize how clingy he’s being. he just genuinely believes the best medicine is being next to you 24/7.
if you fall asleep while he’s holding you, he gets stupidly soft. runs his thumb across your cheek, whispers things like:
“you’re okay. i’m right here.”
“you’ll feel better soon, i promise. i’ll take care of everything.”
at some point you wake up in a sweaty haze and realize he’s the one sweating, but he still hasn’t moved.
“you’re boiling, paul.”
“don’t care. you need me more.”
if anyone texts or calls you during your recovery, he answers for you like a bouncer:
“she’s sleeping. don’t bother her.” click.
“paul, baby, that was my mom…”
“oh. she can call back later.”
he definitely keeps your favorite hoodie or blanket warm by wrapping it around himself for an hour and then tucking it over you.
“see? now it smells like me and it’s warm. double comfort, just for you.”
if you’re clingy back while you’re sick, like pulling on his shirt or murmuring his name? oh, he melts. instantly. you could ask him to set the moon on fire and he’d nod like, “anything for you.”
when the pack checks in, he refuses to leave your side to talk to them. just calls back over his shoulder:
“she’s sleeping. go away.”
(meanwhile, you’re very much awake.)
once, when you were too sick to speak clearly, you tried to say “i love you” and it came out as a raspy whisper. he froze, stared at you like you hung the moon, and kissed your forehead so gently it hurt your heart.
“i love you more, sweetheart. so much more than you know.”
you catch him watching you a lot. like a lot. just sitting beside you, elbows on his knees, hands clasped, watching you breathe. you ask why and he just shrugs.
“you’re here. that’s all i need right now.”
if you sneeze, he says “bless you” without fail, but also gives the most offended look at the air like, how dare it make her sneeze.
when you’re on the mend and start teasing him again, he play-glares and goes:
“you act like i wasn’t five seconds away from crying when you couldn’t keep your eyes open yesterday.”
when you finally start to feel better, he acts like it’s the greatest victory of all time. scoops you up with a huge grin and spins you gently (still being careful):
“my girl’s back. never getting sick again, i won’t allow it.”
he’s so used to having you curled up with him 24/7 that he gets clingy-sick. follows you from room to room like a giant puppy, complaining:
“you were sick for four days and i never let go of you. now you’re just gonna walk away? rude.”
and if anyone even jokes about you being fragile or weak after being sick, paul is ready to throw hands. no one talks about his imprint like that.
cnc with shane but it’s just him taking his frustration out on you after a run/rick pissing him off…and all you can do is try and hold onto him while he fucks you on the dirt floor 😩
it's mostly free-use really, because you love being there for him to use whenever he needs it, you love the way he loses himself in you, in how good you make him feel. it's like you're the only one that can take him, his rage, his fuckedupness, the only one that can turn his mood around.
so when he storms into your tent with a twisted up look in his face, you know to say goodbye to the nice pair of panties you put on that morning.
"no one fuckin' listens," his breath is hot against your neck, "but you listen, don't you, honey?"
it's mean and condescending, gruff, and it makes you so easy for him - you nod, already sweaty n your heart racing from how quick he picked you up and slammed you on the makeshift mattress. "I-I do, I do," you wince when his dick reaches deep inside, he's so rough with, hands on your thighs with a bruising grip, making it hurt on purpose.
"gonna be a good little hole for me, aint ya, sweetheart?"
"yes, yes,"" breathy and delirious, "just wanna be good."
"yeah," he grunts n his hand covers the bottom half of your face, over your mouth and nose taking your only access to air. your body can't help but panic, it's a natural reflex that has you tightening up around him squeezing a throaty moan and a bite on your shoulder from him. your eyes go a little hazy while he speeds up and just when he feels your grip start to slack he lets go with a deep hard thrust that leaves you gasping for air and screaming at the same time.
+ that night when you're all eating around the campfire shane has you on his lap, sore pussy and a bowl full of beans, and he smirks at rick across the fire. rick clears his throat and adjusts his pants.
A/N: I couldn’t help myself, Paul is a hottie and I really want him to spit in my mouth✨
All characters in this piece are 18+ and you should be too
A= Aftercare (What they’re like after sex)
Paul just passes the fuck out. There is no aftercare, this man is out cold in two seconds. He used ALL his energy into fucking you up, now he gotta re-energize. He will cuddle subconsciously though, spooning you and intertwining your legs together.
B= Favorite Body Part (Their favorite body part of their’s and their partner’s)
He’s a tits man. Squishy flesh balls that he can squeeze while you ride him to hell and back makes him so happy. He loves biting them, pinching them, and sucking them. His favorite part of himself is definitely his ass. Though he’d never admit it, he is 100% proud of his ass.
C= Cum (Anything to do with cum)
His favorite place to cum is on your tits or in your mouth. He loves seeing it spill out of the sides of your mouth when you can’t hold it in. If he cums inside you, he’ll most likely watch it drip out of you, usually getting so worked up he’s ready for another round.
D= Dirty Secret (A dirty secret of theirs)
He has a Papi kink. He’ll never say it to you because he’s too embarrassed, but call him Papi and you ain’t getting up the next morning.
E= Experience (How experienced are they? Do they know what they’re doing?)
Paul has had a couple of one night stands in his past but he’s not as experienced as you’d think he is. When it comes to you he tries to act like a pro but he’s learning just as much as you are.
F= Favorite Position (Might include visual)
Doggy style or missionary. He’s either pulling out at the last second to cum on your face, or grabbing your hair for leverage against his thrusts. There’s no in between with him.
G= Goofy (Are they more serious in the moment, or are they more humorous, etc.)
He’s more serious in bed, though not on purpose. He just likes to make sure everything is how you both like it but sometimes he’ll say something silly.
H= Hair (How well groomed are they?)
He has a little patch but he keeps it maintained down there.
I= Intimacy (How are they during the moment? Romantic aspect...)
Sometimes, when it’s a rough day, he likes to be slow and soft. It’s rare but when you see this side of him, it’s like he’s a whole new person. He tries to make sure you know he loves you.
J= Jerk Off (How often? What are they thinking about?)
Paul doesn’t even think about jerking off anymore. After he’d met you, he’d just go straight to your house if he needed to get off. No need for anything else while you’re here.
K= Kink (One or more of their kinks)
He loves his hair pulled, especially when he’s eating you out. He’s also into biting, leaving his mark wherever his mouth lands.
L= Location (Favorite places to do the do)
If it’s in the house then he’s okay with it. He’s very protective and doesn’t want anyone to see you. Don’t get me wrong, he’d fuck you on the kitchen counter, but anywhere outside of your house is a no.
M= Motivation (What turns them on, what gets them going, etc.)
If you wear a tight shirt or a pair of tight pants, he’s all over you. If you sit on his lap, he’s GONE. Run your hands through his hair? You’re in for a long night.
N= NO (Something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
No threesomes. Like I said, he’s very protective and doesn’t like to share.
O= Oral (Preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc.)
He’s a professional at oral, and he loves eating you out. He’ll bring your cunt right up to his face and dive in like a starving man. You giving him head? He’s all for it. Usually he does 69, only because he feels bad if your cunt is lonely.
P= Pace (Are the fast and rough? Slow and sensual? Etc.)
Usually fast and rough, slow and sensual is for when he needs a reminder that you love him or if he’s just had a bad day.
Q= Quickie (Their opinion on quickies, how often, etc.)
He’ll do a quickie once in a while but he prefers to take his time with you.
R= Risk (Are they game to experiment, do they take risks, etc.)
He’s up for everything except exhibitionism and threesome’s. Anything else, he’s pretty much game for.
S= Stamina (How long do they last?)
Just like Seth, he also had a huge amount of stamina so I’d say he could last up to a few rounds on a good day.
T= Toy (Do they own toys? Do they use them? On partner or themselves?)
Before he met you he owned a pocket pussy. He has no use for it now, but it’s still in his nightstand. His pride is too big to get you a toy, plus his dick is enough to fuck you stupid so he doesn’t feel like you two need any.
U= Unfair (How much of a tease are they?)
He LOVES teasing. He’ll eat you out until your crying, and after you second orgasm he’s coming in with that big ass cock of his and making you cum two MORE times.
V= Volume (How loud are they? What sounds do they make?)
He’s a grunter. Sometimes you’ll hear him whisper your name as he pants in your ear. He’s not very loud though, preferring to hear you instead.
W= Wildcard (Get a random headcanon for the character of your choice?)
Paul smokes weed, and one of the things he’s always wanted to try was make out while passing smoke through your lips. He’s thinks it’s hot and if you’re down, he’s down.
X= X-Ray (How big are they?)
He’s thick, around 7 or 8 inches but his girth makes up for it.
Y= Yearning (How high is their sex drive?)
There’s never a day that goes by where Paul isn’t horny. He tries to be careful so he doesn’t let anything slip in the mind link but when he gets home he’s usually down to fuck.
Z= Zzz (How fast do they fall asleep after?)
Like I said earlier, this man passes out as soon as you’re done. He doesn’t mean to but after patrol and fucking your brains out, he gets tired.
To Paul's chagrin, you two hadn't had another moment to be alone. You sort of come to terms with the fact that you wanted to fully give yourself to Paul before the newborns came. You wanted him to have all of you... just in case.
Paul came in from patrol, laughing with Jared. He beelined for you on the couch, wrapping an arm over your shoulders. He kissed you on the cheek. Every time he walked out the door, you missed him. It was embarrassing how much you wanted to be near him.
At some point, you'd both stopped caring that he imprinted, and just focused on loving each other.
"Can we go home? I left something at the cabin that I need," you said, patting him on the leg. He looked tired, but he would like this.
"Do you need it tonight, honey?" he asked. He had thought you would want to lay in bed with him. The snow would be sticking soon, and he wanted to spend every second with you ... just in case.
Both of you were confident that the pack and the Cullens would win, but there was this agonizing fear that he would ride off to war, and he wouldn't come back. It was terrifying. You wished that Paul was a contractor, or a plumber. Literally anything other than a vampire killer. Because vampire's were the killers.
"Please?" you asked, pouting at him in a way you knew he wouldn't be able to say no to.
"Okay," he said, rolling his head to look away from you. "I'll go start the truck." He kissed you and slipped out the door. You ran up to the guest room to grab your jacket, and told everyone downstairs that you just had to go to the cabin to grab something.
"Don't be gone too long," Sam said. "Everyone's on edge."
"Roger that."
You slipped into the passenger seat, your rightful spot. Paul held his hand over your thigh as he drove. He still didn't realize what you really wanted.
"Put your seatbelt on," he said, peaking at you from the corner of his eye, but you didn't. Instead you slid closer to him, his grip tightening. He drove slower, not wanting anything bad to happen.
You put your hand on his leg, and his whole body tensed. You heard him swallow, and could see his eyes constantly flicked over to you. Without thinking about the danger, you leaned towards him to press a kiss by his ear.
And another just a little lower.
And another, slower tongue dragging kiss just a little lower.
"Honey," he whispered, focusing his full attention on the road, but his head tilted slightly to let you in. "You should really put on your seatbelt."
"Hmm," you mumbled, lips vibrating against the curve in his neck. Your hand trailed softly up his leg, until it was dangerously close to where he was dying to be touched.
"Oh shit," he groaned, gripping your thigh. "Okay, okay. Danger. Get back in your seat, and put on your seatbelt."
Pouting, you did as told. But as soon as he heard the seatbelt click, you heard the truck rev up as Paul started speeding down the road.
Oh, you thought. You held onto the handle as Paul floored it. He never drove this recklessly with you. But he was suddenly in a huge rush to get you home.
His grip on your thigh never wavered, except for when it slightly inched up, getting closer to your core. He could feel how hot you were, fuck he could smell it. And he was burning with desire. You hadn't even touched him and he was hard. The dirty thoughts of things he could be doing were totally taking over his mind.
He parked the truck crookedly in front of the cabin, but he didn't care. He just undid his seatbelt, and clicked yours, and yanked you onto his lap. Your ass was kind of digging into the steering wheel, but the grip he had on your hips felt good.
No more words exchanged, he kissed you. It was slow, and passionate. His tongue rolled over your lips, enjoying the slow exchange of kissing you. Your hands cradled his cheeks. Slow working lips conveyed the deep love you held for each other. His tongue slipped fully into your mouth, the sudden feeling made you gasp.
Paul chuckled, pulling slightly back. He studied your face, out of breath and biting your lip, desperate for more of him.
"Are you absolutely sure you want to take this further?" he asked, looking for any sign of hesitation. "We don't have to do this."
Instead of answering, you took your jacket off, and slipped your shirt over your head too. The sight of you, sitting on his lap in a bra, with swollen lips and messy hair was almost too much to bare.
"Let me take you to bed, honey."
You rolled off his lap, but he yanked you out toward the drivers side with him. Like you were totally weightless, he threw you over his shoulder as he collected the keys and shut the door.
You giggled as he carried you like that all the way to the bedroom, making a show of checking the room for any unfamiliar scent. No one had been here.
He tossed you onto the bed, and you bounced once, but were soon trapped under Paul's body as he laid his bare chest down on yours. Arms on either side of you, trapping you completely. But it's what you have wanted. The look in his eye made you stop laughing. It wasn't lust, or need, or even want, it was love. Just pure admiration and devotion.
Paul didn't want to just have sex with you, he wanted you to have all of him. His heart, his mind, his soul; all of it worked for you. His future was wrapped up tightly with you. Your happiness his goal in life. The intenseness of his stare would've scared you, if you didn't feel that exact same way.
He had one knee in-between yours, holding him steady above you. Your small hands reached between the two of you, brushing along his abs as you went. You never took your eyes away from him. You undid the button of his shorts, sliding them down as much as you could before they were blocked.
Paul stood up, and they slid off. He hadn't been wearing anything underneath. He stood totally at attention. It was intimidating, but you weren't nervous. Not with Paul taking care of you. He reached down and mimicked your actions, slowly sliding your pants off, his eyes travelling each part of your leg with careful dedication. He got onto his knees to give you steamy kisses on the lower part of your stomach. The contact alone made you moan, soaking your panties more than they already were.
"We can still stop," he whispered, face only inches away from the soft skin of your abdomen.
"Are you going to love me forever?" you asked, looking down at him. The sight was sinful.
"Yes," he whispered, eyes making contact with yours. You looped your fingers through your panties, slowly sliding them off of your legs. Paul's eyes shifted to peek at the new skin, but he turned back up to your eyes. "I'll be with you every day if you'll have me."
You kicked the garment off of your feet with a kick, gesturing for him to come up and kiss you. "I want you here."
"I love you," he said, pushing himself back up to lay a kiss on your lips. It was soft and slow, a promise of what's to come. He slipped his hand in between the two of you, ghosting over your skin until it stopped over your clit.
You gasp, breaking the kiss and making him smile. "I love you," you said.
His finger worked in slow circles over your clit, the sounds of your moans and breathing was music to his ears. Returning to his knees, he waited until you closed your eyes to lick over the bundle of nerves. You moaned again, this time reaching a hand out to run over his short hair. It was long enough to grab, the roots threaded between your fingers.
Paul slowly worked a finger into you, while his tongue kept licking over your clit. It was too much, the feelings Paul was giving you.
"Fuck," he mumbled, "you're so wet."
You only groaned in response, yanking on his hair so he could climb back up. You didn't want to waste another minute, you wanted him to have all of you.
"Are you sure?" he asked, lining his dick up to your entrance.
"Are you sure?" you asked, smiling at him. You raised your leg to wrap around his waist, and he ran a hand along it.
"I've never been more sure about anything," he said. "I love you now and always."
You nodded, "I love you now and always."
Paul pushed into you, the new feeling was amazing; for the both of you. You were adjusting, but the stretching didn't hurt as much as you thought it would. Paul was trying to contain how good it felt. He kept things slow, wanting you to feel good, and comfortable. It shouldn't hurt.
You ran your hands up his arms, appreciating the curves of each muscle. Paul thrust in and out of you, whispering sweet nothings in your ear as he worked in and out of you gently. You'd never felt closer to anyone. You'd never trusted someone so much before.
His thrusts got sloppy, less calculated, but still remained slow. He was trying to make it last, trying to get you off before he finished, but it was so... wet. "Honey, I can't hold off."
"So don't," you whispered, looking to his eyes. He didn't. He kissed hard, pressing his lips to yours as he groaned from the back of his throat.
"I am so in love with you," he whispered, standing up and taking you in his arms. "Come on, darling. Let's get you cleaned up."
Jared snickered when you and came back to Emily's. No one else seemed out of the ordinary.
"Nice drive?" Emily asked, offering you a fresh cookie.
"Yeah," you said, "it's beautiful tonight."
"Did you get what you needed?" Jared asked, visibly holding back a laugh. "Get something, or get some?" His laughed bounced loudly around the room.
"Jared!" Kim said, swatting him in the arm. He just kept laughing.
Paul didn't care at all, the just smiled lazily and shrugged. You couldn't stop blushing.
"I change my mind," you said, Paul tugging you tightly into his chest. "Don't go, don't leave me."
"I have to go honey, and you know it. But nothing is going to stop me from coming home to you," he said. "And where will you be?"
"Watching from the Cullen house," you said, snuggling closer.
"What? No, you're not coming," he said. You'd been trying to convince him to let you be there all day.
"I don't want to be away from you," you said. "I'm going to sit here and wonder if you're still alive all day."
"I know. I would feel the same," he said, "But honey, I really have to leave. This isn't something I can be late for. People are counting on me."
"Just... come home." You were trying not to guilt him, but you couldn't stop yourself from crying. You turned away. "Don't look, I don't want you thinking about me when you should be focused."
But Paul didn't back away, he put two strong hands on your shoulders, very gently turning you around. "I'm going to be fine, but I can't leave without a kiss."
You leaned up, pressing your lips harshly against his. The tears on your cheeks made it salty, and kinda gross: but you could never be grossed out with Paul. He deepened the kiss, putting a hand on the back of your neck to pull you in.
"Okay, okay," he said, between feverish kisses. "I have to leave. I love you, I love you so much."
"I love you, Paul."
He walked out of the house, but stopped at the door. He looked back at you, red cheeks and pouty lips, and sent you a cheeky wink. He would be fine, you both knew it. But on the off chance he wasn't...
You couldn't bare to think about it.
"Come on," Emily said, putting her arms around you. She had tears on her face too, but she'd been stronger, able to hold them back until Sam was gone. "I'm making muffins to forget about it."
"Em, I don't want to help you make muffins," you said. "I want there to not be a nuclear war like twenty minutes from our house."
"I know," she said, "but it's all I can think of to do."
Paul only had two things on his mind. First, kill the newborns and end the red haired one. Second, get home to you safely. Those were the only things that mattered. He took a sick pleasure in destroying the tics. It was like he could get out all his anger about everything right in the middle of the battle field.
The red-haired one wasn't with her ranks, her absence left a hole in Paul's confidence. He needed her gone, if he was going to resume a normal existence with you. But then he saw her, not on the field, but in his mind. She'd figured out the ploy, she'd gone to the mountain to fight Edward and Bella. They all saw the scene as Seth did.
He couldn't focus on that, not when he was surrounded in leeches themselves.
Someone has to go to Seth! Leah thought, her regular snippy attitude was replaced with genuine concern for her brother.
Stick to the plan, Sam ordered.
Everyone's thoughts fell silent as they worked. The only mission was to kill the newborns, and that's exactly what Paul did. To perfection, he might add.
You were shaken awake aggressively. At some point, you'd fallen asleep on Emily's couch. Your nightmares were filled with the fear of never seeing Paul again. But now, you were up and sitting up quickly, trying to get your bearings as fast as possible.
"Is it over?"
"Yes," Emily said, moving away from you. "Get in the truck, we're going to Billy's."
You shot off the couch, trying to push your shoes onto your feet. The pack must be back from the fight already.
"Is everyone okay?"
"No, one of them is hurt." She paused, and looked at you sadly, but got back to grabbing her own shoes. "I'm sorry, I didn't ask, I just had to get moving. I'm sure he would've said if..."
You were only half listening. It was hard to focus on anything. The not knowing was what was killing you.
You were silent in Emily's car, but as you pulled up to Billy's, you saw Paul standing with Sam. Totally fine. Totally untouched.
The car had barely stopped rolling and you popped out, running as fast as you can towards him. He said something but you couldn't make it out over the sounds of your crying. You hadn't even noticed you were crying. You threw your arms around his shoulders, letting him pick you up.
"Some people are actually hurt," Leah said. She was mean, but you didn't dislike her.
"Leave her alone," Paul said, hugging you. He was relieved to see you, you were all he wanted since they got Jake to safety. "I love you, honey. I'm right here."
Fall back, stay with Y/N, Sam had ordered Seth. He whines, then turns around and sprints top speed to your cabin.
Paul had never been angrier. He was mad at vampires, he was mad at Bella, he was mad at his friends on patrol, but mostly... he was mad at himself. A vampire had snuck into his home, where you had been, and he didn't even wake up. If you had died, if you had been bit, it would've been entirely his fault.
This tic was in my home, Sam!
Enough, Sam said, focusing on the hunt. Alice said when the snow sticks to the ground.
She was in my home.
Victoria flew across the trail they were running on, and the pair of them turned harshly to follow her. Paul growled.
Later! Sam ordered. And Paul's thoughts turned silent, focusing all his energy on chasing the vampire.
Victoria was a master evader. One of the Cullens had made the assumption that it was her heightened ability. They were still at least a week before the snow stuck to the ground, and this vampire was testing the strength of their lines. But she was getting much more confident.
Paul was terrified that she would take the opportunity to kill you, not only because she almost have you once - but if you were to kill an imprint, you'd severely hurt the pack.
Without stopping his heart, it would've killed him. Paul couldn't bare to face a world without you in it.
They chased her to the riverbank, but when she crossed - they were forced to run along it. She was smirking. Paul was trying not to show how messed up she had scrambled his mind, he didn't want her getting any ideas.
Victoria was the fastest vampire that Paul had encountered, and the smartest. Because of her stupid little power, she evaded them every time. He couldn't wait for the snow to stick. Then these bloodsuckers are done for, and Paul could resume a peaceful existence with you, deep in the woods in your cozy little cabin.
Victoria winked at the wolves, and ran deeper into Cullen territory.
Dammit! Paul was mad. He wanted to pop her head of like a dandelion. He wanted you to be safe, you face crossed his mind and everyone else's.
Go back, Sam said, the rest of us will make sure she doesn't come back.
Seth whined again, circling the house again. They both already knew that Victoria wouldn't double back, but he wanted to do his job right. He stopped and sat in front of the stairs when he was done. You were on the steps, slippers on with a mug of tea in your hand. You really wished Paul was here.
Suddenly Seth stood up, and pressed his nose into your palm, nudging you to pat him between the ears. Once you did he took off running, disappearing into the trees.
"Bye Seth," you said, waving. You took a sip of your tea. Paul emerged from the same direction that Seth ran off.
"Hey honey," he said, lightly jogging towards you. You set your drink beside you, and rushed towards him. He opened his arms, so you threw yourself in them.
Happy to be in his arms, you squeezed him tightly. But then pulled away. Your arms were still locked around each other. Paul leaned down, giving you a needy kiss. He pulled you tightly against him. His mouth was rough against yours, a delicious symphony of lust and love. He didn't want to pull away, but he did.
"I am so sorry," he said.
"You don't have anything to be sorry for," you said. "You came running for me."
"I will always come running for you." Paul scooped you up in his arms, making you gasp as he pulled you up to his chest. He walked you towards the house, holding you low so you can grab your drink, and inside.
"I can walk myself," you said, taking a sip.
"I just want to hold you for a minute," he said. He clenched his jaw when he stepped in the house. The smell of the leech who touched your things lingered in the air.
Paul set you down. "Go to bed."
"Not without you," you said, pouting.
He smiled at that, telling you he would follow you in a few minutes. When you turned to walk away from you, he laid a gentle smack on your butt. You jumped, smirking at him over your shoulder.
While you got nestled into your blankets, you could hear Paul walking around. You decided he was either checking all the doors and windows, or he was investigating what the vampire had been doing in your house. No one was brave enough to say it, but they could've killed you and they didn't.
Paul shuffled into the room a few minutes later. But he didn't lay down, he sat on the edge of his bed, putting his head in his head. You got up, sliding closer to him and holding him to your chest for a change. He let you pull him close, and dropped his hands to wrap them around your waist, his head resting happily on your chest.
"You wouldn't have been in the middle of this if it wasn't for me," he said.
"I'd already be dead if it wasn't for you," you reminded him. He groaned lightly.
"I was so scared," he whispered. "From the moment I realized what the kitchen smelled like. They could've killed you."
"It'll be over soon, right? Didn't you say less than two weeks?" you asked. He nodded.
"I already cleared it with Sam, we're going to be staying at their house until then." He sat up, and looked you in eyes. He brought his hand up to sweep across your cheek. You leaned into it. "No arguments?"
"I see your point," you said. "Our house is lovely but it's very exposed."
"You said our house," he said, smiling at you. Your only answer was another kiss, before you grabbed him by the shoulders and fell back, taking him with you. You both laughed.
"I love you," you said. "But it's almost four and we're both tired."
"I know," he said. "But I just want to hold you right now."
Paul flipped around, holding himself up and hovering over your torso. You couldn't help but glance down at him, he was just so beautiful. He smirked when he noticed, and you couldn't stop the blush from rising in your cheeks.
Bending down, he placed sweet kisses from the middle of your cheek down to the soft skin of your neck. You moaned softly when he kept trailing his kisses around your neck, down towards your collarbone.
"Paul," you whispered, reaching your hand up to put in his hair.
"Mm," he groaned, the vibrations travelling across your skin. He paused his movements, and looked at your eyes.
"I'm a virgin," you said. Nervousness crept into your bones under his intent stare.
Paul felt light headed at the words for a number of reasons. One, you were considering having sex with him: the thought of that alone could give him a nosebleed. Two, no one had ever been with you that way. Three, he was hovering over you right now, and you were thinking about sex.
"Me too."
"What? But you're so..."
"Aggressive? Horny? Wolfy?"
"I was actually going to say hot." You smiled at him, your hands still holding his short hair.
"You think I'm hot?" he asked, wiggling his eyebrows.
"You already knew that," you said, laughing.
"I was like fifteen when I phased for the first time," Paul said. "And I didn't trust myself. I trust myself now, and you are the only one I want."
You blushed. "We don't have to talk about it right now."
"Let's go to bed," he said. "And after we deal with Victoria we can talk about your unwavering lust for me."
"I don't really think that's what I said."
"Goodnight," he whispered, tucking himself close to you.
In the morning, Paul had both of your bags packed and coffee ready to go. He didn't want to wake you up after such an eventful night. You stretched as you made your way into the kitchen.
"Thought we'd just grab cereal today, honey." He walked over to you, looping an arm around your waist and swooping down to kiss you. You held his face in your hands, softly stroking your thumbs across his cheeks. When he pulled away, he had a beautiful smile on his lips.
"Are we grabbing all the perishables?" you asked, pulling away from him and opening the fridge. "I don't want to come home to a nasty fridge."
"Sit and eat and we'll grab it after," he said, putting his hands on your shoulders to guide you to the table. It was a beautiful day outside, the sun was shining through the kitchen window. It was probably cold, but with Paul by your side it wouldn't be too bad.
"You didn't have to pack my bags," you said, pouring the cereal and milk in a bowl. Paul slid in the chair beside you after finishing, whatever it was he was doing.
"I didn't want to wake you, but I have to be at Sam's before noon and I didn't wanna leave you alone here. It's not safe," he said, taking his turn with the cereal.
"I wish we'd gotten close at an easier time," you said, reaching over and grabbing Paul's hand. He held your stare, smiling sadly.
"I don't know that there ever would've been a normal time," he said. "But I'm still happy we did."
You smiled, turning to your food and releasing Paul's hand. "I know. I am too."
"Say the word and we'll pack up and go," Paul said, looking at your face. He was searching for answers, but it didn't feel like he'd asked a question.
"You already packed," you said, mouthful of cereal.
"No, I mean like... we can go anywhere. I'll quit, you'll quit. We can leave the vampires behind."
You gave him a small smile. "As lovely as it sounds, and I'll take you up on it one day maybe... but I don't think you'd ever get a good nights sleep again."
"If you're beside me, everything will be fine."
"No," you said, "I think you mean it, but I don't think you're right. What if someone gets hurt out there? Would you be able to sleep knowing you could've been there? It's one of the things I love about you," you said, touching his arm gently.
"But anytime you want to, all you have to do is tell me." He turned away from you, trying to hide the grin. While he wanted you to be far away from the fight and the Cullens, he couldn't help but smile when you said you loved him.
You on the other hand, were sitting in guilt and agony. You still hadn't told Paul about your boss, well, ex-boss. And the longer you waited, the more hurt he would be. But, you also knew he would probably fight the guy, and you didn't want that.
"Do you work today? I'll drive you," he said. You picked up both of your empty bowls, and starting washing them in the sink.
"I took some time off," you lied. You were ridden with guilt over the way it rolled off your tongue. But it was for the greater good. "I thought it'd be better if I just stayed with Emily."
"I didn't know that," he said, coming behind you to wrap his arms around your waist. He set his chin on your head, just holding you while you washed the few dishes. "Thanks honey. That takes a load off, I'm not gunna lie."
He kissed the top of your head, and grabbed the bowls off the dish rack to dry and put away. When you were done, you grabbed an empty box from the recycling to pack up the food you didn't want to go bad.
Paul thought he noticed something off about you, but didn't say anything. It would be easy to blame it on the situation.
"I'm gunna run everything to the truck," he said, grabbing the basket from you and kissing your head again. You stopped him, standing up on your toes to give him a kiss on the lips. He made a happy noise as you moved your lips against his. "I love you," he mumbled, in between breathy kisses.
"I love you," you said.
He threw a wink at you before he walked out the door, and you walked to the bedroom to get dressed.
Emily and Sam were more than welcoming. It was nice to be around such friendly people all the time. Apparently, Sam agreed that your house was too isolated. But once Victoria was dealt with, you'd be moving back.
You spent most of your days helping Emily in the kitchen and around the house. You'd grown really close with her and Kim, and it was really nice. It was nice that Paul helped you into his social circle, since he... you know, kinda ruined your high school career. But you pushed those thoughts out of your mind.
The more the days ran into each other, the harder it was to tell Paul the truth. But he was so tired all the time, and when he was with you, he wanted to cuddle and kiss, and he was just so friggin' cute.
On a Sunday afternoon, you two were in bed together. Sam was on patrol, and Emily was at the grocery store. And you two were finally alone, and Paul was painfully aware of that. He didn't want to rush you, he'd meant it when he said he would wait as long as you needed. If you decided you never wanted to, he wouldn't be any less fulfilled in life.
But on the other hand, you are so sexy and walk around in your underwear in front of him, sometimes without the shield of his shirt.
"I don't ever want to leave this bed," he said, pulling you in close. He breathed in your scent and shut his eyes. He was trying not to think about your leg that was resting on his thighs.
"Mm," you moaned, innocently wiggling against him. Now he was sure you were trying to kill him, but when he peeked at your face, he saw the sleepy look. "Maybe only to crawl back into our bed."
"I like when you call that place ours," he said, nestling his cheek against your hair. You were listening to his heart beat.
"You should bring all your stuff," you said. "Move in officially."
"Officially," he whispered. "I'm scared things are going too fast for you. Are you sure that's what you want, honey?"
"Honestly, I never want to fall asleep without you again."
"As long as you want me, I'll be here."
"I'm sorry I used to hate you," you whispered. The tense past was something you would do anything to change.
"I'm sorry I made you," Paul said, feeling the exact same way.
"I forgive you," you said, something you'd never said to him. And he felt his heart beating out of his chest. "I forgive you for all of it. I don't care anymore. I just love you."
"Awh, honey. I love you so much. I never thought I'd feel this way about anyone. I've never been this close with anyone. Someone so kind," he said, placing a kiss on your forehead. "Honest." Another kiss. "Sweet." Another kiss.
You sat up, the weight of the guilt was killing you. "My boss cornered me in his office and asked me to do inappropriate things so I quit!"
"What?" he asked, sitting up beside you. "What do you mean? He harassed you?"
"Yeah, kinda..."
"Not kinda, either he did or he didn't." Paul had never spoken so harshly to you before.
"He did," you said, "But I quit right after."
"Why didn't you tell me this? I could've helped you, I oughta go down there right now and show that guy what's up," Paul said, his irritation boiling under his skin. He took a look at you, sad and scared, and put his arms back around you. "I'm not mad at you."
"You should be," you said, tears falling from your eyes. You couldn't hold it in anymore. You felt like a bad partner. You felt like a bad person. "I meant to tell you when it first started but you were so stressed and I didn't want to make it worse, and then he cornered me so I quit but then I still didn't want to tell you because you were so tired and then..." Paul had to put his hand over your mouth to make you end your sentence.
"You think I should be mad at you," he said, and you nodded. "No baby, I'm mad that some jerk tried to hit on you. I'm mad that you felt that you couldn't come to me. And I'm mad that I've been so busy that I didn't realize what was going on. But I am not mad at you."
He wiped the tears off of your cheeks with his thumbs, and lovingly held your face. He didn't even notice that his anger completely melted away, you were the only thing on his mind.
"Paul," you said, voice so small under his stare. You pulled away from him and pulled your shirt off.
"Honey," he grumbled. "I want you so badly, but we shouldn't. Not when we were just talking about... uh..." He lost his train of thought when you unclasped your bra behind you. The straps fell loosely over your shoulders. "Baby," he said, his hand lingering close to your ribs.
"I trust you with my heart now," you said, letting the bra slide off your torso entirely. "But we can do this later, if you're not ready..."
"Huh?" he asked, staring at your chest. His thumb grazed over you newly exposed skin. "I love you."
You giggled, "I love you."
"Paul!" Sam shouted from the bottom of the stairs. "I need you down here for a second!"
Something was afoot around La Push. There had been an irritating vampire, running around the forest for weeks. Paul was certain that she would take an opportunity to take you away from him. He had saved you, and she had your scent. It was probably bothering her.
"Honey," Paul sounded distressed when he came in the door. "I have to talk to you about something important."
"Okay." You ushered him over to the couch with you, and sat close enough that your knee overlapped with his thigh. "Is everything all right?"
"Don't worry, everything is fine. But..."
Admittedly you were getting worried. He didn't normally act like this around you. The last couple of days had been pure honeymoon phase. Your lips were getting chapped with all the kissing that went on around here.
"The Cullens have reached out to us," he said. "They want our help fighting an army of newborns."
"I'm sorry, what?"
"Newborn leeches, not like, actual babies." Paul chuckled a little, but his face fell again. "I didn't want to tell you, because I didn't want you to worry. But I am trying to honour our deal."
"Are we talking about it, or are you telling me?" you asked. You weren't angry, you just needed to know what direction this conversation was going.
"We're talking about it," he said, "but there's not much I can do if Sam gives me an order. I have no choice then."
"It's okay, you don't have to worry about it. I'm not going to try and stop you."
"You're not?" He was a little taken aback by that. You hated the idea of him in danger, he thought this was going to turn into an argument.
"No, it would be pretty selfish of me to ask you not to help," you said. "Can you tell me why an army is coming?"
"To kill Bella, we think."
"Oh my," you said, you'd hadn't had a chance to meet Bella yet, but Jacob spoke so highly of her. It felt like you knew her already. You felt kind of bad for her too, and lot of the guys had these preconceived ideas of what she was going through, just because of how Jacob felt. The mind link was a powerful - and super annoying - thing.
"And Sam wants us to go to the Cullens house and train with them." The tone of annoyance he had crept under your skin.
"That's a good thing," you said. "I want you to go and I want you to pay attention."
He looked offended. "I don't need help from a leech."
"Oh, have you fought a newborn army before?" you asked, attitude dripping off of every word.
"Well, no."
"If you expect me to be okay with letting you fight, then I expect you to take all the help you can get."
Paul studied your features for a moment, and soon realized you just wanted him to be safe. And quite honestly, he couldn't blame you. He would expect the same from you. And you were so patient and caring. How could he deny you anything?
"I'll go - but I won't like it," he said, pouting slightly. The soft smile on your face was enough to wipe any of the irritation away.
"I'm not asking you to like it, my love."
You kissed him, and then spun around so your back was pressed tightly against his chest. He wound his arms around you. You held your hands over his arms. You loved being close to him. You could've sat like that all day. Paul pressed sweet kisses on your cheek, slowly trailing them to the skin just under your ear.
"There's something else," he whispered. "And I don't want you to get scared because I would never let anyone hurt you ever."
"I know you wouldn't."
"It's the same vampire that attacked you," he said. He felt you tense slightly. The fear of her coming back for you never really went away. If she was really still running around the reservation, then maybe you actually were in trouble.
"Do you think she wants me?"
"No, but I think she'd be happy to take you away from me," Paul said, his grip on your tightened, only slightly.
"Can you promise that you'll be okay?"
The look on his face made your stomach drop. He would never make a promise that he couldn't guarantee.
Days passed.
Paul had to spend a lot of time with the pack. And you spent a lot of time with Emily and Kim, or at work.
You were having issues at work, but you felt you had no one to talk to about it. Paul needed to stay focused, and you didn't want to be a distraction to him, but at the same time you needed him. You just thought it was best if you suffered in silence for a while. It all kind of felt a little overwhelming. Some of it was good, of course. Paul was good. He was everything good in the world that you needed more of.
But work was bad. Your boss, sleazy and touchy, was going through a breakup. And he had his sights set on you for a rebound.
"Are you okay, Y/N?" Emily asked. She set a mug of tea in front of you. Kim was also there, and peaked over the edge of her magazine.
You were startled out of your thoughts. Kim and Emily were both looking at you, and you could hear Quil snoring on the porch outside. He was supposed to be protecting you guys, but all the guys were pretty beat.
"Yeah," you said, putting another phoney smile on your face. The girls fell for it, but you didn't know if Paul would. But since he's been so exhausted (running extra patrols around your house in the middle of the night) you've been able to hide it.
The only problem was the guilt eating you up for not being honest with him, but you couldn't let work drama get in Paul's head. His life was at stake.
"They're going to be okay, you know." Kim put her magazine down and put her hand over yours. "I know it's scary, but they're strong together. And fighting with the Cullens? It'll be no contest."
"I'm sure you're right," you said. "It's just a little bit of nerves."
"We all get them," Emily said, smiling. Her smile gave you the feeling of an older sister, proud of you and welcoming. "Want to help me with dinner? Get your mind off things?"
"I actually have to get to work soon," you said, picking your bag up to loop it around your shoulders. "I'll call when I get there."
You came out of work with your head hung low. Your boss had been by your side all night. Ignoring your rejections, he was persistent and you quit on the spot. You shouldn't have to put up with that, and you told him so.
But now, it would be harder to hide your worry. Paul was sitting in his truck, his head resting on the steering wheel. You couldn't help but smile when you saw him. You tapped on the drivers side window, and he startled awake.
"Let me drive," you said, and without argument he slipped into the passenger seat. He didn't let anyone drive his truck, but of course, he sung a different tune for you.
"It'll be over soon," Paul said. "A week, two weeks tops."
"Go back to sleep my love," you said, turning on the truck.
When it was going and you were driving out of the parking lot, Paul reached over to you, palm up. Of course he just wanted to hold your hand. It's a short drive, but you drove slow. Driving helped you think, but you didn't often drive on your own. Asleep in the passenger seat, Paul still clung tightly to your hand.
It was almost too soon before you were home, so you parked the truck but let the music play. You scooted over, simultaneously waking him up and cuddling into him. He groaned himself awake, but grinned as he moved his body to accommodate yours.
"Pretty little thing," he said, resting his cheek against the top of your head. You could've sat with you back in his chest all day. If you never moved from this spot, you'd die happy.
A slow, romantic song that you couldn't name came on the radio. It was soft, like a song they would play at prom.
"Dance with me," he whispered.
"Dance with you?"
"Yes," he said, opening the door behind him and you both fell back slightly, but he caught you, laughing at your sudden gasp.
He got out of the truck, and then offered his hand for you to take, with a dramatic bow. You took it, and let him guide you out of the truck and close to him. He held one of your hands, but your waist in the other. You put a hand on his chest.
"You should be going to sleep," you said. Paul grinned, picking you up and spinning you twice, making you laugh. He set you back down and continued to sway with you.
"We can go to bed after this song," he whispered. "Right now I would like to spin you and pretend that we are normal."
"We are normal," you whispered back. He kept smiling.
"Do you think that?" It wasn't an accusatory question, you could tell that he was just curious.
"I feel like I'm falling for you because I like you," you said, his smile faltered, but because your words meant everything to him. He never wanted you to feel like his feelings for you were an obligation. "Not because something else told me to."
"I love you," he said, freezing the dance.
Your smile was soft, lazy almost as you looked up at him. All you could see in his eyes was his honesty. "I love you too, Paul."
The two of you were silent, enjoying each other and the last few piano chords of the song playing. When it was over, he spun you around. He pulled you even closer after, until there was no possible way you could be any more pressed against him. That's when he leaned down to kiss you. It was rushed, or lustful. It was... expressive.
Paul's mouth moved so softly against yours. Every move was a calculated way to tell you he loves you. He let go of your hand, to move his onto your cheek. The soft stroke of him thumb across your cheek made you shiver.
When he pulled away, you wanted to pull him back. But you knew he must've been exhausted.
"Hungry?" you asked, and he just shook his head. He let go of you with a kiss to your forehead. He went back to the truck and turned it off by crawling over the passenger seat and taking the keys out.
"Let's get inside," he said, throwing an arm over you.
Inside, you kicked your shoes off. You both walked to the bedroom, but after sliding into one of Paul's shirts, you went to the kitchen to make something to eat, but Paul crawled into bed.
You woke up on the couch a few hours. A plate of half eaten food abandoned near you. Stretching, you stood up and went to drop the dishes in the sink.
There was something wrong in the kitchen. It wasn't something you had noticed, just a feeling. A bad feeling. You dropped the plate, and touched a spoon that was sitting near the coffee maker. You dropped that in the sink too and looked around. Nothing looked wrong.
You tried to shake it off, and grab a glass of water before joining Paul in bed. The cups were in the cupboard beside the fridge. You took a second glance at the fridge. A picture of you and your grandma that was always clipped on the side of the fridge, was on the front now. That's what was wrong.
"Paul!" you shouted, running down the hall. You didn't really want to wake him, but you knew he would want you to.
When you were at the bedroom door, he was already opening it. Half asleep and trying to focus on you.
"What's wrong?" he said, but he looked out towards the kitchen. He could smell that something wasn't right. "Stay behind me."
He grabbed your hand, and tugged you behind him. When he was closer to the kitchen, he froze. He turned to you.
"Go into the room, grab my phone off the nightstand and call Sam, tell him to come as soon as he can."
You did as you were told, running at top speeds. Your bare feet tapped against the hardwood. Inside your room, the sheets were messed up. Paul had obviously thrown the covers off when you called. You messed up the number twice before you got it right. Sam was tired on the other end, but hearing the urgency in your voice said they would be there as quickly as possible.
warning: extreme fluff chapter about ooey gooey falling in love.
Turns out that being with Paul was the easiest thing you'd ever done. Every morning was a competition between the two of you. This had gone on for almost two weeks.
If you woke up before him, you would sneak out of the room and make him breakfast. Sometimes it was a buffet of pancakes, eggs and sausages. Or sometimes it was just a cheesy bagel with egg and tomato.
If he woke up first, he would make the coffee and try so hard to make you breakfast without burning it. He just wanted to show you love in the same way that you should him love. But he didn't have it down pat yet.
Often he would poke his head into the room where you were sleeping and ask you questions.
"Babe, what do you put in the eggs to make them fluffy, again?"
"Hey sorry, how long do you have to fry hash browns for? ... What do you mean did I boil them?"
"Hi honey, quick question. To boil eggs do you put the egg in before it boils or after it boils? I always forget..."
And every single day your response was, "I'm coming."
He would race back into the kitchen, smiling because he was starting another day with you. And today you were going to a barbecue at Emily's. You'd met everyone before in passing at the house the few times you went to Emily's, but this was your first time coming out as Paul's partner. They didn't have to keep their distance, or secrets anymore. They were just as excited as you were.
Everybody knew about it, because Paul was always thinking about you. He didn't care when anyone complained. He was perfectly capable to do his job while also keeping you in the back of his mind.
That morning, you shuffled into the kitchen after Paul asked you when he should put the raspberries in the pancakes. Paul was frying some sausage and bacon in the same pan. The pancake batter was nearby, but it looked good. He was getting much better.
Before, he would come get you basically before he turned the stove on. Now, breakfast was pretty much done by the time he needed help. Sometimes you thought he would do things he doesn't know how to make, just because he wanted you to get up and be with him.
You told him to pour the pancake mix and then add the raspberries, while it's on the pan. You brushed behind him to smell the food, and then pour yourself a cup of coffee.
While he finished cooking, you snuck off you brush your teeth and freshen up. And then returned to him, reaching your hands across his torso to hug him from the side. He flipped the last pancake and then turned to look down at you. Both of your faces held dopey smiles.
"Gimme a kiss," you said, and he happily obliged, bending down to place a short, but very sweet. To him, you tasted like autumn and coffee to him. The warmth and comfort you gave him compared to nothing else.
"Go sit down," he whispered, nodding over to the table.
You grabbed your drink and his. And sat wear he had two plates already going. Yours was just missing the pancake he was finished. He dropped it off on your plate, and when he turned to put the pan in the sink. You switched your plates. He always gave you the freshest food, the warmest, the less burnt. Whichever he deemed the best. So sometimes you switched it, because you wanted to give him everything he gave you.
"You are so beautiful," he said, when you came out of the bedroom in a fall outfit that you wore all the time.
You rolled your eyes, putting a hat on your head. He put an arm around your shoulders and walked you to the truck. Lately, he'd been having a lot of thoughts about his future. He wanted a life with you. Not a turning-into-a-wolf life. But a normal human life.
And if he thought about it long enough, he was came to the conclusion that you'd probably want that too.
Not now, obviously. While the Cullens were here, and you were happy. He was fine as is. Protecting you and the town was a priority. But he was thinking about when he's thirty, and you're married. And maybe you want to start a family. He wouldn't ever want to deny you anything you want. And he had no interest in being yet another angry father in the world.
"What are you thinking about?" you asked. He had been driving down the road, silent as mouse. He reached over to grab your hand in his. You would never get over the butterflies that his touch caused.
"The future," he said, as if still in a daze.
"And what do you see?"
"I see lots of possibilities," he said, drawing your hand closer to his face so he could kiss your knuckles. His eyes stayed fixed on the road.
Your hands fell back onto your lap, and you toyed with his fingers in your free hand. "Mm," you moaned in acknowledgement. You wanted to know more, but you didn't want to pry.
"Do you want to know what every single scenario has in common?" he asked, coy smile on his lips. He tried to hide it by pulling his bottom lip between his teeth, but it just made it more obvious.
"Yes," you said, smiling and watching his face. You knew he was going to say you. You knew it, and you wanted to hear him say it.
"In every one, I'm trying to make you happy." He eyed you slightly to gauge your reaction, and turned back to the road with a smile when he saw the bright red blush flash across your cheeks.
It was the truth too. Not matter what he did in life, his happiness was entirely rooted in you. Not in an, "I can't be happy without them ever" type of way, more of a "as long as they're happy, I'm going to be okay" type of way.
"I see you too," you said.
It took him by surprised, and it was his turn to blush. Even though he wondered if you thought the same way, he's never expected you to admit it. Not so soon. His heart beat fast, and he felt heat spreading across his neck.
He wanted to tell you that he loved you, because he did - he loved you so much that it was all he wanted to focus on sometimes. But it was too soon, and he didn't want to scare you. And with everything going so well between you, it shouldn't be rushed. Each stage of your relationship was cherished and appreciated.
Paul was writing a love story in your memories.
You sat in comfortable silence. You enjoy the air coming in your window, sweeping any exposed hair from around the hat. You hummed along to the radio. Paul liked when you did that. It was one of his biggest pet peeves, people who always had to hum or sing over the music, like Jared, but not you. Your voice was his favourite thing to listen to. He would turn the radio off if you wouldn't stop.
"Paul?" you asked, admiring his side profile. He made a little noise of acknowledgment but didn't look. "Do you think you would've loved me if we were sixteen again?"
"Honey, I think you know my answer." He was probably talking about how he didn't know. "I'm sorry, that you have this doubt, and I wish I could take it away, I really do." He brought your hand to his lips again. "But I know that the feelings I have for you are genuine. I'm not with you because I feel like I have to be. I felt like I had to sleep on the couch, to keep you safe from the vampire threat. I want to sleep in your bed because I like to hear your heartbeat while we lay beside each other."
"I'm scared that one day you'll resent me," you said. "Like you'll feel like you never had a choice."
"I do have a choice though," he said. He parked the truck in front of Emily and Sam's house. And you could both hear the noisy crowd who had gathered there. But you weren't done. You undid your seat belt and slid over to him, where he wrapped you in his arms again. "I could've tried to be your friend, there's nothing that says you have to fall in love with your imprint."
"There isn't?"
"Not really, I mean it happens more often than not. The person you spend so much time with, you want to protect them. They radiate home and comfort." Paul kissed your forehead. "Quil isn't in love with his imprint, ya know. He's actually got a massive crush on this girl who he went to school with."
"Didn't you say his imprint is young?" you asked.
"Yeah, exactly. She's a toddler. And Quil is practically raising her. He feels like her big brother, that's what she needed most and that's what he became. That's going to be so deeply rooted, that I don't think it will change. Neither does he."
"And this is how you feel about it?"
"I've thought about it a lot, without anyway to back up what I'm saying, I think we always would've found our way to each other."
"I think so too," you said. "You're a lot more open with your feelings than I thought you would be."
"You make me happy," he whispered, placing three quick kisses on your lips. "I just want you to know how much I adore you."
"Is there anything bothering you?" you asked, looking at him. He looked deep in thought.
"I promised to never lie to you," he said. "I don't want us to use this as a crutch. I want us to have as normal a relationship as possible." Paul took a deep breath. "I want to think of our future together because we want a future, not because of the imprint."
"I think this is deeper than that," you said. The words were so reassuring to him, because he felt the same way.
You already knew everyone by name. But other than Emily, Jared and Kim, you hadn't spent a lot of time with anyone. Paul had gone off with Embry almost as soon as you had gotten out of the truck. He wasn't keen on leaving you alone, but he wanted to play football with them, and you convinced him it was okay.
Kim noticed you standing a little awkwardly, so she came over to talk to you. Kim was the best.
"You don't have to worry about them." She waved in the direction of the boys. Most of them were playing. "They all like already."
"They do?"
"Oh yeah," she said, like this obvious. "You changed everything."
"In a good way, I hope?"
"Oh my gosh, of course! Sorry, I'm totally floundering here." Both of you laughed. "All I mean is that Paul has really come a long way. He's been happy. And none of us really saw a lot of that."
"He wasn't happy? Before the imprint?"
"Mmm," Kim clicked her tongue as she collected her thoughts. "I wouldn't say he wasn't happy, but like... he's really happy. Jared says sometimes Paul will hum while patrolling."
Ah yes, the hive mind. That wasn't something you loved to think about. It was strange. Disliking something about Paul made the relationship seem more normal. The imprint couldn't just wash away anything you didn't like.
"Does he say anything else about me?"
"Are you fishing for information from me?" she asked. "Because I'm totally biting. You know what is so cute? No matter what we're talking about, he's able to find a way to sneak you into it. He wants to talk about you all the time. I don't think there's anything about you he doesn't like."
"Oh, there's plenty. Sometimes he has to kick me off him at night because it's too hot," you said, smiling.
Kim laughed. "That's just a wolf problem, I think. That or maybe it's an imprint problem, because I have the same issue."
There was something extra adorable about Kim. She was so quiet the first couple of time that you had met, but now - she could talk your ear off. She was a shy girl, but you were really happy that she seemed comfortable around you now.
"Hey Y/N!" Paul shouted, waving at you with dramatic gestures to get your attention. "A frisbee!"
"I think he would like to play frisbee," you said. "Wanna come?"
"Yeah, I really do actually. I want to see what Paul is like with you around."
For half an hour, the four of you were joking and laughing. Paul was a little towards you around his friends, but not in a bad way. He was a little less affectionate, but if he saw a good excuse to touch you then he would take it. Like when you caught the frisbee, he would sometimes pick you up and spin you, laughing and smiling while he did.
Of course, he would have to sneak little kisses in. Only very occasionally, and they would be very short. But he just couldn't help himself when you looked this beautiful.
But other than a little more reservation, you didn't see much of a difference at all. Apparently everyone else did though. Jared and Kim could not stop smiling at how the two of you got along.
It wasn't until two random strangers were passing that there was an issue. They catcalled at you and Kim, making you both shift uncomfortably.
"They're not interested guys," Jared had said, shaking his head. He threw an arm over Kim and just guided her away from them.
But Paul was rooted in place, eyeing the strangers intently. You could tell by his clenched fists that he was upset, so you stayed a couple feet back. It was one of his rules, if he was upset he wanted you enough distance away that he couldn't hurt you.
Sam was watching the situation, not really liking how the whole thing looked. Before he could intercept, you did.
"Paul," you said softly, hearing his name coming from you, so sweet and innocent, was almost enough to totally distract him. But when he noticed that you were holding your hand out for him to take, he shrugged those guys off his mind and took your hand. You squeezed his hand, and walked flush against him, reaching over your stomach with your other hand to hold his arm.
Everyone was trying not to stare, but they were. Without knowing it, you'd just blown their minds.
And Paul was proud of himself. Instead of getting angry, he chose you. He chose to walk off with you and not bother with a couple of losers.
"I'm proud of you," you whispered, sitting on his lap when he sat on the picnic table.
"Thanks honey," he said, smiling sweetly at you. Hearing those words from you was almost better than his own self accomplishment. He wanted to make you proud, and happy - and he had succeeded. It was turning into such a perfect afternoon.
You were almost stumbling over yourself when you walk in the house. You were tired from a long day in the sun (not that you were complaining about a sunny day) and running around with Paul, who returned to the frisbee after eating. You tried to keep up, but he just had so much more energy than you were capable of.
"I had a really nice time," you said, bending over to take your shoes off.
"Mhm," he said, but didn't really answer. You turned to make sure he wasn't upset, when you realized he was just staring at your butt. He grinned when you figured it out, and raised his eyebrows suggestively.
"Sorry," he said. But the grin he wore made you sure he didn't mean it.
"C'mere," you said, grabbing the belt loops of his shorts and pulling him close to you.
He looked down at your hands, and had to shake himself back to reality. He leaned down, kissing you slowly, putting his hands on either side of your face.
"God, you are so warm," you mumbled, quickly pressing your lips back against his, even harder. "Pick me up."
"So demanding," he whispered, pulling away just slightly to look at your face. He hoisted you up, biting his lip at the feeling of your legs around his waist. "So beautiful."
"Mm," you moaned, bringing your lips back together. This was a mess of clashing tongues and teeth. You wanted to feel all of him at once, and when he pressed you back into the wall and moaned, he took advantage and slipped his tongue into your mouth, which just made you moan more. "Don't stop."
"It's late, honey." Paul pulled away, not because he wanted to, but because you needed to go to sleep. And because it was too soon and he couldn't bare the thought of him pushing you too far and you regretting it.
"Bedtime?"
"Bedtime."
In one of his big shirts and your underwear, and him in just boxers, the two of you cuddled close. Paul whispered sweet things in your ear as you dozed off.
"I've never been happier than when I'm with you," you whispered, pushing yourself back against him as much as you could.
"You have no idea how happy it makes me to be here with you, honey."
Paul knew you would fall asleep during the movie. You had stayed under his arm, and slept soundly on his shoulder. He didn't dare move a muscle. He wanted you to sleep there, it didn't matter that his arm had gone completely numb. It was a welcome feeling if it meant you were by him.
When the credits stopped, the room went dark. Until the menu for the DVD came on and "friggin blinded me," as he put it.
He scooped you up. All night he's been unable to stop grinning at the sight of you in his shirt. As soon as he had seen you yesterday, his anger snapped in half. You were safe, so he could breath easy. No matter how dumb you had acted. No matter how mad he had been, the sight of you was a breath of air. He felt peaceful to be in the same room as you.
Once again, Paul had to carry you to bed. Not that he minded. He tried so carefully to pick you up without waking you up. And he walked slowly down the hall. He tucked you in. But tonight he kissed your forehead before returning to his spot on the couch. Like yesterday, you reached out and caught his wrist before he could leave.
"Maybe you should just stay with me," you said, looking at him for only a second before closing your eyes again.
"Are you sure, honey?"
You didn't answer, you just tugged on his wrist until he climbed into bed with you. You rolled over, keeping tight hold on his wrist and guiding him to hug you from behind. And like a light, the two of you were out.
It's funny, how he used to laugh at Sam for being so whipped. Used the shrug off the idea of a soulmate. And now he would do anything you asked him to without question. And you weren't even his girlfriend. But it didn't matter.
If you wanted to be friends then that's what he'd be, not that he could ever find room in his heart for anyone else.
Paul had never, in his whole life, slept so soundly. When he woke up, he could barely believe how rested he felt. And the joy he felt waking up to see you, laying on your back next to him. The morning sun poking through the curtains and illuminating your face. He slipped out of bed to go to the bathroom, and then almost ran back. He wanted to be there when you woke up to.
And he was, his climbing back into bed made you rustle. You stretched your arms over your head, making a loud squeaking sound. Paul fell in love and he knew it. He was so in love with you and he would only sink deeper.
You could see the sun over your eyelids which woke you up. But you had been so comfortable that you didn't want to get up. You can't remember a time where you slept so peacefully, you usually tossed and turned.
"You should sleep in my bed every night," you said, groaning. "I slept so well."
"I like the couch," he mumbled, pushing a piece of hair off of your face. You looked at him and scrunched your nose.
"You'd rather sleep on the couch?" you asked. He smiled, resting his hand across your stomach. He was so warm. There was no way for you to feel unsafe with him around. In fact, you never felt uneasy around him. You used to , but you didn't anymore. There was something changed in him, and it seemed genuine.
"No," he whispered. "But I just want to take things as slow as you need."
"I like it when you're here," you whispered back. You rolled yourself to face him, and he left his hand on your hip. He slide his other hand under your head. You could fall back asleep like this.
"I mean it when I say we don't have to rush things but," he said, but paused. He grabbed your hand, and placed it on his chest. His heartbeat made you smile. "This beats for you. That's why I care so much about your safety," he said, sounding nervous that you won't reciprocate.
"Mm," you moaned, smiling at him. "If your heart beats for me then you'll go make the coffee."
He looked shocked, but then smiled, laughing. "I try to express my devotion to you, and you order me to make coffee."
"Excuse me," you said, patting his smooth chest. Admittedly you loved how it felt. "I didn't order anything. I simply said 'if your heart beats for me,' which you had implied that it did, then you would do this thing for me."
"I will make you coffee, stay put."
As soon as he had untangled himself from you, you kind of regretted asking him to go. But he was back in ten minutes with two mugs, and a big happy grin on his face. It made your heart skip a beat. There was no way you could feel this strongly about someone who you didn't even like a few weeks ago.
He put the coffee on the headboard, but you were more focused on him climbing back into bed with you. Before he could lay down, you sat up. You helped tuck his legs into the blankets, and looked up at his face. He was just so damn beautiful, you couldn't help yourself.
You put your hand on his stomach, and slid it up until your fingers stopped on his collarbone. Paul couldn't stop looking at your lips. You were face to face with him, inching closer to him.
"Wait," he whispered, closing his eyes. His whole face scrunched in recoil. You jumped back, the sting of rejection hitting you harder than anticipated. "No, no, not like that."
"It's okay, Paul."
"No, I want to kiss you so bad, you have no idea how badly I want to." He pulled you close again, so your head fell on his chest, ear over his heart. And he ran his fingers through your hair. You tried to settle, but the fear of rejection kept you unnerved. "Honey, I want you so badly."
"Why didn't you kiss me then?"
"Because you should know the full truth before we cross that line. I don't want you to regret kissing me. I should've told you days ago but..."
"Tell me now," you said. "And then we will see about the kissing."
"It's chilly out, grab your jacket."
"What?"
After a few minutes, and Paul failing to convince you to leaving the coffee behind, you were standing on the porch. Your legs were totally exposed, and you had on a puffy winter jacket on. It was winter but Paul was convinced it was cold out, so you grabbed a random one by the door.
Paul stood back, on the grass, shaking and psyching himself up. You stood completely still, sipping your coffee as your boyfriend broke through himself and shifted into a giant wolf. He was beautiful, even now. You took another sip of your coffee, and turned to go back inside.
Paul felt like he was going to be ill. You had left, not even giving him a chance to show that he was friendly when he was like that. He shifted back, grabbing one of the pairs of shorts he'd stashed around your lawn.
The door wasn't locked, so he practically sprinted through your house, only to finding you standing by your dresser, moving piles of clothes. It looked like packing from his perspective, and he wanted to reach out to you. To beg you to stay with him.
"Your coffee is too weak," you said, putting the piles into a different drawer in the same dresser. "You have to get that under control if you're going to keep staying here."
"I can stay?"
You turned around, "of course you can stay."
"You're not scared of me?"
"I'm still more scared of the guy you were in high school than now," you said. "You're still my hero."
You were so beautiful. Paul was mesmerized by every part of you. From your beauty, to your intelligence, to your kindness. Everything about you made shiver. He shuddered to think of a world without you in it.
You reopened the empty drawer, and gestured to it dramatically, "for your shorts!" you said, smiling.
Paul had never felt this happy his entire life. The person who he cherished most in the world, giving him a space in your bedroom. But you could never truly know how much it meant to him, you felt like home to him. Like a place he could go and just be happy. Be peaceful. Around you, he didn't feel the need or want to shift at all. He liked who he was around you, he liked that guy a lot.
"Come here," he said, opening his arms for you. You met in the middle. He wrapped his arms around your stomach, lifting you in the air, making you feel weightless. Your arms were around his neck, forcing the two of you close as you both giggled. Paul spun you a few times, and then set you back on your feet, forcing you up on your tippy toes to keep your arms around him.
"Can you kiss me now?"
Paul didn't answer, he didn't need to. He just bent down, connecting your lips. It felt like flying. It felt like a tall glass of lemonade on a hot summers day. It felt like everything that was good, and right in the world. This moment would live on in the two of your forever. The moment that Paul fully opened himself to you, and you accepted every inch of him.
You moaned against him, and he tightened his arms around you. You could've kept kissing him forever. The tenderness of his lips was making you dizzy. You had to pull away first, Paul could've kept kissing you into eternity. In fact, even eternity wouldn't be long enough for him. You even tasted like home to him.
"Now tell me something," you said, smiling.
"Anything," he said.
"Is the imprinting real too?"
The look of shock on his face was funny, but you were so wrapped up in him that you didn't laugh. You just caressed his warm cheek with dainty touches of your fingertips.
"You know about that?"
"Paul, I grew up in the same place that you did." You smiled, which (of course) made him smile.
"I didn't know if you knew the legends, or if maybe you forgot," he said, he shook his head. "Doesn't matter."
"Well?"
"Yeah, it is."
"And you imprinted on me?"
"Yes, I did." He looked nervous, maybe because your hesitation was visible. But you didn't realize.
"So," you held a tight grip on him, "would your heart beat for me without it?"
"I don't know," he said. He promised you honesty, and he intended to keep it.
"Would I have been able to forgive you without it?"
Paul's eyes got glossy, and his throat was getting tight. These words scared him - he didn't want to lie to you, ever. But he can't say for sure if he would have pursued you without the imprint. Not that he didn't think you were pretty before, but because you hated him. And he deserved to be hated by you.
"I don't know, honey." He looked so sincere, and so hurt. "But what I can say for sure, is that I was trying to apologize before I realized you were it. I hate who I was in the past, he was not a nice guy. But when I'm with you..." he paused, collecting his thoughts. "When I'm with you, I know I am capable of good things. I can control my anger, and I'm working on it. For you."
"I still want to try," you said, "don't get confused about that."
He sighed in relief. "I can go back to sleeping on the couch."
"I don't want that," you said, "I feel better when you're close."
"Okay," he said, kissing your forehead. "But don't ever feel bad if you want to ask me to leave your room, I'll give you any space you need."
"I need to work some feelings out," you said, "but I'd like you to be around while I do. I want to see how things go."
"I have all the time in the world," he said. "I'd wait years for you."
It had been a few days since your attack on the beach. Since then, Paul really didn't like when you were home alone. Or walking to work alone. Or anywhere alone really. It didn't have to be with him, but he needed to know he, or someone he trusted could get to you in time.
He was worried that the leech had caught your scent, and would come back. Sam didn't think so, Sam was under the impression that this person was actually testing their lines, and he wouldn't let the same mistake happen again. You were still waiting for Paul to tell you the whole truth, but you were being patient, as he had been with you. It was clear that whatever it was, was hard for him to say.
Your couch was permanently occupied by Paul, who picked you up from work to drive you home. And if he couldn't make it, he'd send one of the pack, or one of the imprints to pick you up and bring you to Emily's house.
You were cautiously optimistic about where things were going with Paul. There was still some trust issues, but you were working on it together. And no matter how much Embry or Jared talked about Paul's anger issues, you didn't really see it.
Currently, you were at Emily's, sitting on the couch and trying to stay awake until Paul got there. He made you feel safe.
"Have you seen this?" Emily asked holding a newspaper. There were missing people all over Seattle. It's what had Paul working overtime. He was pulling more than his fair share, and you knew that had to do with you. But you didn't understand what.
"Is anyone ever going to tell me what's going on?" you asked, but your tone was light, joking. Emily laughed, and sat by your legs on the couch.
"Paul really is taking his time, huh?" She gave you a sad smile. "He's doing that for your benefit."
"I know, I know," you said. "I'm just really confused. I swear the scenarios I'm making up in my head must be worse."
"Probably," she said. You both laughed this time.
"Well he better snap to it."
"I'm heading to bed," Emily said, patting your leg over the thin blanket. "You okay out here?"
"Yeah, thanks Em. Goodnight," you said.
"Goodnight."
"Wake up honey."
Paul was gently shaking your arm. He was sitting on the edge of the couch, trying to wake you up as nicely as possible. Jared laughed in the background at how soft Paul was around you, but quickly said his goodbyes as he took the night patrol. It takes a tough guy to make fun of someone and then rush out the door. But Paul didn't care.
"Paul?" you asked, finally coming to. "What time is it?"
"Late, it's very late."
"Take me home," you said, holding your arms out to him.
"I like you when you're sleepy, you're very nice." Paul picked you up, and said a quick goodbye to Sam as you closed your eyes again. It made Sam smile.
Paul carried you to his pick up truck, and got you settled into the passenger seat. He even did up your seat belt. You woke up a little more, but your squirming and stretching was the cutest thing to him. He was so enamoured with you. He didn't really care how long it took until you trusted him. Or even if you never wanted to be with him, he didn't care. As long as he got to be around you, he would be fine.
"Let's watch a movie tonight," you said, yawning right after.
"I don't think you'll be able to stay awake," he said, smiling.
"Can we try?"
"How about we watch something tomorrow, after work?"
"Okay," you said, closing your eyes again. "Tomorrow."
You fell back asleep before you got home. Paul was driving slowly, and the cool air was filtering in through his open window. He was listening to some folk band, and the whole thing just lulled you to sleep.
When he parked the truck, he did everything he could to get you into your room without waking you up, and he was pretty successful. But as he was tucking you into bed, you woke up a little. He moved to leave but you grabbed his wrist.
"Goodnight Paul," you said, not letting go of his wrist.
"Goodnight honey," he said, daring to lean down and kiss your forehead. You made a happy sound as you rolled over, getting comfortable in bed.
Paul would've done anything in the world to crawl into bed with you and fall asleep. But he was happy just to be here.
So, Paul went back to the couch. And got as comfortable as he could, and fell asleep, reminding himself that you were safest when he was here. And that he was doing a good job protecting you.
The next morning went better than most mornings. You woke up in a good mood, and decided to make breakfast for Paul. He'd been working so hard to protect you, that he deserved at least a fraction of that devotion back.
You made the lot, pancakes and eggs. A small fruit salad and a plate of bacon. While the pot of coffee finished, Paul wandered into the kitchen stretching.
"Mmm," he groaned, "something smells good."
"I made you breakfast," you said, a smile on your face.
Paul was in love with you, that much he knew for sure. And today he got his first sign that maybe you were at least starting to fall for him too. It was a good day.
"Eat up," you said. "I have to work in a few hours."
"You're going to eat too, right?" he asked.
"Of course I am," you said, stopping before you left the room. You turned on the radio against the wall. It was some band you'd never heard of, but it was nice enough. Paul was already filling his plate, but you went to pour two coffees. "Cream, sugar?"
"Just black," he said, mouthful of food. "Just come sit."
"All right," you said. "But for the record I wanted the coffee."
You chose the chair beside him, instead of across from him, and he took note of that but didn't say anything. You smiled at him, and he smiled back, like he always did.
Breakfast was relatively quiet, you made small talk about what was going on that day, but mostly you just enjoyed the silence. It didn't feel awkward, it felt right. It felt comfortable. When you were done, Paul wasn't. So you carried your plate to the sink, and rubbed your hand across his back as you passed. His breath hitched slightly, and it made you smile, thinking about how different Paul was.
Maybe it was time you cut him a little slack.
When he finished, Paul helped you clean up. And even shooed you away to get ready for work while he did the dishes.
"Thank you," he said, as you walked back down the hallway. He wiped his hands on a dishcloth and dropped it back on the counter. He leaned back, and you couldn't help but notice how beautiful he is.
"Thank you for being here," you said, suddenly self conscience under his intent stare at you. You pulled your sweater sleeves over your hands, keeping the fabric pinched between your fingers.
"I uh, packed up the rest of the fruit salad. I thought you might like to have it at work." Paul had one of your Tupperware containers sitting on the counter.
"And the bacon?"
He looked guilty. "I ate it."
"It's okay!" you said, laughing at his face. "It was made to be eaten."
He drove you to work, and although you missed to walk, you knew you'd get back to it eventually. When he dropped you off, you hesitated to leave. Paul sat patiently, giving you a moment to collect yourself.
"I want the truth tonight," you said.
"Honey..."
"Just, think about it from my perspective. I have no idea what it is I should be scared of, I have no idea where you work or why you're gone all the time. I'm worried about you, and I'm scared."
"I'm scared too." Paul took a deep breath. "I'm scared that something will happen to you. But mostly I'm scared that if you know the truth you'll be scared of me."
"I wouldn't."
"You don't know that," he said, he looked terrified. "You hated me earlier this month. Couldn't even look at me throughout high school and I am so embarrassed about that. And it's going to be even more embarrassing when I tell you everything because then you'll know that we didn't make eye contact from two years attending the same school."
"I'm sure we made eye contact," you said.
"No." He looked at you, and you could see the pain in his eyes. "We didn't." The look on his face made you hurt. It made your heart deflate, and you would've done anything to see him smile again.
You unclicked your seat belt, but didn't move as it sprang back into place. It didn't feel right to leave the air like this.
The heat he gave off seemed to float right into your space, and there was something about his presence that made you feel more settled than you had in a long time. You wanted to touch him, so you leaned across the middle seat, and placed a tender kiss against his cheek.
"Just think about it," you said, sliding back towards the door and starting to get out. You didn't want to leave him feeling sad, but you had to get to work.
"Have a good shift," he said, watching you leave. He hated watching you walk away.
"You too."
Work had been horrible. Your boss was kind of a jerk, and waiting tables had really lost it's appeal. You'd been serving tables in La Push's best diner, but when the new owners took over, it quickly began to lose it's charm. You wanted to buy it when they were selling, but coming right out of high school you didn't have that kind of cash.
You just felt kind of miserable, so when you saw Jared and Kim waiting for you outside, you just felt annoyed. You were under the impression you and Paul had made plans.
"Hey," Kim said, smiling from the passenger seat. You got in behind Jared. "Don't worry. Paul said another hour, tops."
"Can you guys just take me home? I had a long day and I just want to relax," you asked, pulling your upper body between Jared and Kim's seats.
"I don't know, Y/N," Jared said, making a worried face. "I don't think Paul would like that."
"C'mon Jared," you said. "I'll lock the doors, and I'll call you if I get nervous."
"Jared, she wants to go home." Kim smiled at you. You really liked her.
He rolled his eyes and started the car. "When he freaks out on me, I'm throwing you both under the bus."
"He won't get mad at us," you said, "he said himself. An hour tops."
Jared and Kim were actually really great travel companions. Kim always made sure you were included in conversation, and Jared was not afraid to sing at the top of his lungs which was hilarious. They really cheered you up.
And of course, they waited until you were in your house to pull away.
Inside, you were tired, and cold. And you had wanted to spend some time with Paul. But he said an hour, and you figured we wouldn't lie about that. It wasn't too late that you couldn't give him some of the patience that he had given you.
So you spent the time bringing out some blankets, and pillows. When that was done you made some popcorn and fresh lemonade.
Paul should've been there any second. So you just spent some time tidying up the place. You saw some fabric poking out from under on the blankets, and you yanked on it, pulling out one of Paul's shirts. You laughed. Because it seemed rare to even see him in a shirt.
You pulled your shirt over your head, and put on his instead. Your shorts were hidden by his baggy shirt, even baggier on your small frame.
Twigs snapped outside the window, and you gasped. You knew you locked the door, but decided on checking the windows too. Just so you could say that you did. They were all locked. When you walked back into the living room, Paul was standing there - jaw clenched tight just like his fists were. But you could see the restraint. You could tell he was actively calming himself. You took a step closer.
"Don't," he said, voice cracking. He closed his eyes, hating the way you stop dead in your tracks. He didn't want to scare you. "I told you that I didn't want you here alone for a reason."
"I was so tired after work," you explained. "I wanted to sit on the couch and watch a movie like normal people do."
"I am trying to make things as normal as possible for you," he said, the anger was already washed away, but it wasn't gone. Not entirely. "You just have to trust me."
"How can I trust you when you don't trust me?" you said, voice starting to raise with unavoidable frustration.
"You think that I don't trust you?"
"I'm not allowed to be by myself, how else would you like me to interpret that?" You felt tears brimming at your eyes, the confrontation bringing out your anxiety.
"If we're going to fight, I need you to take three steps back."
"For what?"
"Your safety."
"What does that mean?" you shouted. "Are you scared you'll hit me?"
"I would never hit you," he shouted back. "How could you even think that?"
"I don't want to argue," you said, quietly. "I'm sorry I shouted."
He saw the sad look in your eyes, and could've kicked himself for driving you to this. He nodded, prying his eyes away from your sad ones to look anywhere else. He looked at your shirt, for the first time, and even though he was angry with you, he loved the sight. It calmed him down knowing it was you, in his shirt, a couple feet away.
He held his hand out, palm up for you to take. You did, and he guided you, as if you were dancing - not fighting, to the couch. You sat beside him, and he kept your hand in his.
"I need you to really listen to me," he said, his eyes glossing over with the realization that if he loses you, he'd never be whole again. "For now, I need you to follow all my rules. Even when they seem excessive, or dumb. And in return I will explain everything. And I won't keep any secrets from you."
"I can do that," you said. "If you're always honest with me, I'll be honest with you."
"Sam?" Paul was, he was in pain. He respect Sam and Emily's privacy, but he needed to talk to Sam now.
Paul wasn't angry, he was in pain. He felt like the world had opened up and swallowed him whole. He ruined his own life, and he didn't know where else to turn.
"Paul?" Sam asked, opening the door. Emily was behind him, face covered in concern.
"I imprinted tonight," Paul said, "but she hates me. She really, really hates me."
"I'm sure it's nothing you can't fix," Sam said, ushering Emily to come closer.
"Sam, I'm not exaggerating, she told me that she hates me. In fact, she should hate me." Paul looked at his feet, but only to try and hide the distress on his face. "If anyone treated her that way I used to, I'd rip them apart."
"Paul," Emily said, reaching out. Paul flinched back.
"I don't deserve your sympathy. I just, I don't know what to do."
"Be patient. Maybe you just have to prove you're a different man now," Emily offered a sad smile, but it was the exact thing Paul didn't want. He shouldn't pitied, he didn't deserve it. He could feel his heart bruise and falter. He broke his own heart and has no clue on how to fix it.
Emily had to go back to sleep, but Sam sat up with Paul for a while longer.
When Paul finally left, it was almost two in the morning. He took off running through the woods, shifting when he knew he was hidden by the tree line. He tried to outrun the heartbreak, but obviously it didn't work.
You were sitting at your desk, staring at your computer. You wanted to work on your writing, but you were so angry at the audacity that Paul had.
You had done everything you could to avoid him the last couple years - and you managed to make it to the first day of summer after graduation. You'd run into him on the beach.
He was just such a jerk, acting like his words had no effect on anyone. Like he could just laugh behind your back and it wouldn't hurt.
But he used to tell people nasty rumours about you. Until nobody really wanted you around them. And then he had to take it that much farther, when you were both fifteen, he took you on a date, acted like he'd changed and grown. And right before he kissed you he said, "I know you fall for it."
That date alone triggered years of trust issues. You'd felt alone ever since.
Back to the beach, he was blocking the trail you needed to head down to get to work on time. You'd hoped that putting your head down and just trying to slide passed would work, but he recognized you. He tried talking to you, but you ignored him.
After taking a couple steps down the path he said, "don't be like that."
This made you look up, astounded that he would even say something like that. Until you finally looked into his eyes, and you recognized how beautiful he was. He also looked stunned, like he'd run into a glass door. He reached out to you, but recoiled, dodging his touch like he was on fire. Somehow, you'd felt even lonelier than ever.
One look at his face and you felt like you were missing something. You tried to keep your cool but you just couldn't. Tears brimmed at your eyes, and his friend Jared Cameron coughed, before walking to the water just to give you two some space.
"Y/N," he said, his voice low and hesitant. Making you panic, thinking he was toying with you again.
"Stay away from me," you warned, taking a defensive step back.
That hit Paul harder in the heart than you would ever know. His soulmate, his imprint, recoiling away from him defensively. He found the person he was supposed to protect, to be needed by, and you couldn't stand the sight of him.
"Just wait a second," he begged, not moving towards you again. He didn't want to scare you.
"I hate you," you whispered, and then louder said it again. And louder again. Until you had screamed it, and the tears had taken over your cheeks. Every time you said it was an arrow to Paul's heart. He nodded, and let you turn around to run off without another word.
You didn't notice him run into the woods, followed by his friend.
You called work saying you had a personal emergency, and then went back home for the night.
Back in the present, you were tearing up at the memory of it. You were sick, you think. Addicted to red flag behaviour because there was no way you were thinking of Paul's hurt face, and feeling bad for causing it. He should feel bad for all the pain he caused.
You looked at the clock, it was almost three in the morning, but you were too caught up in all your feelings to send yourself to bed. You walked to the window, and noticed some kind of animal by the tree line. You lived in the middle of the woods, in an old cabin your grandma used to live in. You moved in when she got sick but never moved out. You liked it. It was cozy. It was private.
Finally relenting, you crawl into bed and did your best to sleep.
The next day, you were walking along the same path on the beach. You offered to cover the shift of the girl who had covered yours at such last minute.
Paul was in the same spot, but alone this time. You tried to walk passed him without acknowledging him, but something stopped you. You didn't want to see him sad again, it hurt you. And it made no sense why, you'd spent two years hating him.
You were only a few steps passed him, so you turned around, gripping the end of your sweater sleeves in each hand.
Paul had his head down, but looked up when he heard you sigh. You were standing in front of him, looking so terrified to speak to him. Paul could've started crying.
"I'm sorry about yelling at you like that yesterday," you said. "I should've just walked away so... sorry."
"Don't be sorry," he said, a flash of excitement crossed his eyes, and you mistook it for something sinister. You tried to remain calm, but you were feeling lightheaded. You just couldn't trust his motives. "I deserved it."
Now that, threw you for a bit of a loop.
Fool me once, you thought.
"I still think we should just keep our distance," you said. "You kind of broke my heart."
"I'm really sorry about that, I was trying to impress the seniors. I was a tool. An idiot."
"Finally we agree on something," you said. He looked at you, and you both let out a small smile. He pushed some sand with his foot. His bashfulness made you want to believe him. "I work just up the hill. You can walk me if you want."
"Can I walk you home when you're done?" he asked, quickly falling in perfect tandem with you.
"No," you said. "But you can walk with me right now."
"I'll take it," he said.
"Why do you want to talk to me anyway? I thought you hated me," you said.
"I could never hate you," he said. "I do hate how I treated you though. Not my finest hour."
"I think your finest hour remains to be seen."
Paul stayed quiet after that. And you were oddly comfortable in the silence. You're not even sure why you invited him to come along, but some sick part of you wanted him to. You wanted to reach out and touch him. His arms just looked so welcoming, and the way he stretched his hand open and shut made you think he wanted the same thing. But you couldn't let him in, not after one day.
"Have a good shift," he said, putting his hands in his pocket.
You smiled at him ,and thanked him for walking you. When you smiled, he smiled. And you caught onto that.
Paul had been standing in the same spot every day to walk you to work. Out of curiosity, on one of your days off, you snuck close to the spot to see if he was there. And he was, leaning against the same railing, in the same spot that he waited for you everyday.
You got comfortable in a cozy little spot in the trees. You wanted to see how long he waited for you. You dozed off before you could get your question answered.
You woke up hours later, when the sun was already setting. You hated walking through the trees in the dark. You started walking on your own, but you had a bad feeling in the pit of your stomach. So you swallowed your pride and called someone you knew would answer.
Paul was sitting at Sam and Emily's table, enjoying the dinner she made while waiting for his turn to go on patrol. It was Jared and Quil out there now. Paul could hear Seth snoring on the couch, making him laugh. Things that used to annoy him, didn't really seem to annoy him anymore. Not since you started letting him walk you to work. He even got Sam to let him change his patrol times to make sure he could be there every day.
His phone rang, and with a mouthful of food checked the number. He almost chocked on his food when he saw your number. He answered, hitting his chest to dislodge the food.
"Y/N, hi," he said, big grin on his face as he stood up and walked outside. Behind his back, Emily and Sam shared a knowing look, and he leaned in to kiss his wife.
Paul noticed Jared sitting nearby with Kim, and didn't think too much of it with you on the line.
"This may sound stupid," you said, "but can you walk me home? I don't like to go in the dark."
"You never let me walk you home," he said.
"If this is a bad time, it's okay," you said, disappointment clear in your voice.
"No, no... where are you? I'll be right there." He stepped back inside the house to grab his shoes, but the sound of you gasping stalled his movements.
"I'm by our meeting spot," you said. His grin returned when you called it that. "It's so dumb, I wanted to see if you went there when I didn't work and fell asleep."
"You were spying on me?" he asked. You were silent on the other end and he laughed. "I'll be right there."
"Who are you?" you asked.
"Huh?"
He heard you scream, as did Sam and Emily who's cheeky glances turned to concern quickly. "Y/N?" he asked, panicked. He was already running outside, Sam on his heals.
"Jared!" Sam shouted, "Why aren't you on patrol?"
"Seth said he'd do it!" Jared yelled back. Paul dropped his phone, and shifted, running top speeds to where you said you were.
Never in his whole life had he been this scared. He could hear Jared apologizing for the mixup in his thoughts, but Paul didn't really care what he had to say. If you were hurt, Paul would die. Paul would simply die.
He needed you to be there safe.
I knew something was wrong, Embry thought. Paul didn't even see him show up. Sorry I didn't act on it.
Shut the shit up and run, dammit!
When he got to the meeting point, you were gone, but your bag was abandoned nearby. Paul sniffed it, getting your current scent memorized. He took off when he found the trail. He also smelled a retched, filthy bloodsucker. It wasn't one of the Cullens. No, this was different. And it started at the water, that's how it got passed their lines. Not that they had enough people around.
Paul howled, the pain in it was evident for anyone around. It was him saying get here, or suffer the consequences.
I don't smell their blood, Jared thought.
You don't get to talk about them. This anger didn't derive from a bad temper, it was fear. It was just fear talking.
Paul kept running, catching a fork in the scent trails. One way was Quil, Leah and the bloodsucker. And the other was you, all alone. Alone but alive. If he couldn't hear Leah or Quil think, that was a good sign. Meant that they'd changed back, and Leah would never do that unless she killed them.
Go to her, we'll find Leah. Sam nodded at Paul.
You were crying as you ran, clumsy feet stumbling over tree roots and your own blurred vision totally betrayed you. Someone had come out of the water, eyes red like rubies. And they were so pretty that you just had to look at her. Until the showed her teeth, forcing you to flee in fear. She was faster than you, but you think she was playing with you.
And then if that wasn't scary enough, when she was jumping down from a tree to kill you, a wolf jumped from the shadows and grabbed the woman. And it was her turn to flee. Another wolf jumped out, and you were sure you were a goner.
But it just chased after the other two. Leaving you alone and confused.
You stumbled back to your feet, running as fast as you could towards your cabin. You would be safe in there. Maybe. It was the best you could do right now.
You cried harder when you thought you heard more rustling in the trees. You were at your door, struggling to get your keys out and unlock the door. When you did, you slammed it shut and locked it behind you. You dove over the sofa and kept your eyes on the door, as if that's all it took to keep you safe.
Your phone was lost somewhere in the woods, but you could still hear them. Out there. Maybe it wasn't real.
There was a feverish knocking on your door, and you couldn't peel yourself away from the couch.
"Y/N! Are you in there," Paul shouted. Oh my God, thank everything, it's Paul.
"Paul, I'm coming," you struggled, fighting through your tears to answer. It killed him, but he was so happy you were okay.
You opened the door, and cried even harder when you saw his face. You couldn't hate him now, now when he came running for you. He ignored his usual boundaries and pulled you in for a hug. He was so warm wrapped around you. Your arms were still tucked into your chest. And his totally encompassed you.
"Just breath, honey," he said, rubbing his hand up and down your back. You tried to take his advice, but you couldn't focus.
"You came for me."
"I always will, you can always call me. I will always come running," he said. And you believed him.
"Will you stay with me tonight?" you asked, pushing yourself away from him enough to look up at his face. His features were uncharacteristically soft as they looked down at you.
"Of course," he said. He kissed your forehead, and you felt the instinct of pushing him away - but you ignored it this time.
"On the couch," you said.
"Sure, honey." He brushed his hands up and down your biceps, helping you take a few deep breaths. "I'm not going anywhere, don't worry."
"I don't understand what happened," you said, pushing yourself away from him. "She came out of the water, and then she..."
"It's okay," he cooed, "you don't have to say anything."
"And this doesn't change anything," you said. "I trust you with some things but not other things."
"Some things?" he asked, more amused than anything.
"I trust you with my life, not my heart."
"We'll work on it," he said, pulling you in close for another hug.
ahhh congrats on graduating my lovely!!! can i request a paul lahote blurb with 37 and 15? <33
37 has already been done with paul :( and also thank you!
15. “are you jealous?”
-
tonight was supposed to be fun and relaxing. you and paul were going to a bonfire with a bunch of friends of his at the beach.
though when you arrived, paul had ran off with a couple of the guys to play some soccer, or frisbee, whatever they were planning.
this led you to taking a seat on a log, alone, having no one else to talk to. although, eventually, this guy around your age decided to give you some company, and you were happy for that.
he didn't seem like a guy who was just talking to you to get into your pants, or even flirt with you. he just appeared to be friendly because he noticed you were sitting alone.
however, paul didn't like the scene in front of him one bit. he came back from playing with some friends to find you laughing loudly with some guy he didn't know.
immediately, he grew angry and stormed over to where you were sitting.
"oh hey, paul," you greet your boyfriend, not taking in his fuming features. "dean was just telling me this story about something that freak cullen did at school and-"
"my mom texted me asking me to come home, so let's go," he interrupts you. your expression drops as you stare up at him in confusion.
"okay...give me a moment." you stand and turn to face dean with. smile on your face.
"text me the rest of your story, i love hearing about the odd things they do," you say to your new friend. but before he can even respond, you are being dragged away by paul. he practically forces you into his car and shuts the door behind you.
you say nothing as he drives off in the direction back to your house.
"paul, will you tell me what's going on and why we had to leave early?" you finally speak up, though a little scared to look at him. he huffs and doesn't respond still.
eventually, he pulls up in front of your house, and within seconds of him stopping, you jump out of the car, pissed off with him. although he follows you out, suddenly feeling bad.
"babe, wait," he grabs your hand before you can walk up the steps to your house.
"no, paul. you drag me away from the party, you don't say a word on the drive home, and now you want to explain? i gave you the chance, i asked you, and you didn't say anything."
"please, just hear me out?" he begs. something in your mind clicks, though. the look on paul's face as when you talked about dean, his eyebrows furrowing together.
"are you jealous?" you wonder. paul's gaze drops down to the ground in shame, and he just nods.
"yeah, i was. i'm sorry, but seeing you talking and laughing with him, i guess i just got..."
"jealous?"
"scared." your eyebrows furrow together and you step closer to paul. "i'm always worried about you finding someone else and leaving me."
"oh, babe," you coo, cradling his cheek. "i would never do that, i promise. i was just having a good time shitting on the bloodsuckers. i saw nothing more in him." paul nods understandingly and his eyes dart down to your lips.
to appease him, you kiss him softly and drag him inside with you, wanting to take care of him and reassure him you aren't going anywhere.
you knew paul was hiding something, you just didn't know what. this led to a huge blowout fight between the two of you.
"paul just tell me what you've been doing?" he sighs and runs his hands through his hair.
"i wish i could babe, but i can't."
"are you cheating on me?"
"what?"
"you're seeing someone else, aren't you?" he laughs in disbelief and stands up, pacing the room.
"i can't believe you would actually think i would be seeing someone else!"
"well what am i supposed to believe, huh?! you won't tell me literally anything, you say you can't tell me, what could possibly be going on?!"
"i..." he trails off, staring down at you.
"if you seriously can't tell me, i'm leaving," you say, standing up and walking out of his house. he doesn't follow you, knowing you needed time to cool down.
though you do so, literally. you ran to the beach, which was thankfully close enough to paul's house where you could walk.
unfortunately, it begins to rain as soon as you get to the beach, and as much as you wanted to get somewhere dry, you didn't want to face paul anytime soon.
so, you sit in the chilly rain, staring at the ocean, the sound of the waves and the rain calming your mind.
paul, noticing that it had started to rain, ran out to find you, well aware that you didn't have a car or umbrella or anything. he ran in his wolf form, trying to pick up on your scent. finally, he finds you at the beach.
he phases back before walking over to you, wearing only his shorts. already, from far away, he could tell that you were shivering because of the temperature.
"baby," he calls out as he walks up behind you. you don't turn around yet, your arms wrapping around your ody to try and preserve warmth. "you're trembling."
he comes to sit next to you, and that's when you take notice of his shirtless self, rain droplets beading on his skin.
"what do you want?" you snap. he sighs softly and turns towards you.
"i'm ready to tell you what's been going on. and no, i haven't been seeing a woman on the side because you're the one for me. and that ties in with what i'm going to tell you." the sincerity in his voice makes your heart flutter and your eyes soften.
"really? so, you're not leaving me?" he shakes his head.
[𝜗℘] :: being bullied because you’re true form!sukuna’s favorite concubine is nothing out of the ordinary. but when he finally notices the harassment, he doesn’t hold back.
“she’s got nothing going on for her,” “right? i don’t get what he sees in her,” “tch—he’s only using her for her body anyway,” “duhh. he can’t be pleased by her looks. i mean, she’s really ugly. i bet he thinks of her as just ‘nother hole to use. . .”
and the shushed gossips continue. the concubines hanging around the garden have noticed your arrival, though do nothing to stop badmouthing you. they can’t care less if you hear what they say.
you’re used to it by now. you’ve adjusted to this life of yours as one of sukuna’s concubines. his favourite at that—which automatically makes you a victim of verbal (and sometimes physical) harassment. the other women in the sorcerer’s harem can’t stand you.
your eyes are glued to the path you’re walking on. your lady-in-waiting doesn’t utter a single word as well, holding her head low as she follows behind you.
you know that the concubines will immediately pick on you if you make eye contact with one of them.
it’s moments like these where you actually miss sukuna. his intimidating presence and (in)direct threats would immediately make the others fall silent. you wouldn’t have to hear them call you nasty names.
though, unlucky you, sukuna’s out on business. uraume is left as a temporary supervisor of the entire estate. to make sure nothing goes wrong. despite all of that, you still find yourself in an unfortunate predicament.
“hey. we’re talking to you,” a female voice rings from behind you.
it isn’t your lady-in-waiting, but the brown-haired woman whom you recognise as one of sukuna’s concubines. her name. . . you can’t recall.
she forcefully pushes your shoulder with two fingers. you stumble backwards, nearly tripping over the material of your kimono. you look down at the hem and notice a subtle muddy stain on the cloth now that you’ve accidentally stepped on it.
you curse the woman out under your breath. the kimono is one of your favorites since sukuna had it made and tailored to suit your taste.
“my apologies,” you mumble politely. you do not wish to make a scene as much as you want to defend yourself. not in front of those poor servants who are simply minding their business and tending to the garden.
the lady scoffs. another one joins. soon, four of them surround you, leaving you no place to escape the situation. with every step you take back, they take one forward. it’s intimidating, though you try to make it seem like you’re not afraid of their words.
“tell me,” the blonde one speaks up and her hand trails up your arm. she twirls a strand of your hair around her index finger before harshly tugging at it. you wince, but she doesn’t budge, “tell me what sukuna sees in a worthless slut like you.”
it’s about sukuna every time. you’re getting sick of the way they treat you because of something you can’t control. you don’t know why he favors you out of all the other women at his service. the way you’re treated because of something that you cannot change is getting frustrating.
the brown-haired woman follows the other lady. she pushes you until the back of your shoe bumps against the edge of a fountain. the grande fountain in the yard that you always love to admire.
the tugs at your hair get stronger. your patience is wearing thin. you take some time to reply to the other concubines, hoping to silence them for now.
you look up at the group surrounding you—a grin tugging at your lips as you decide to taunt them. you scoff, “hah. you can’t blame me for satisfying my lord better than all of you could do together.”
audible gasps sound from the group of concubines. they can’t believe you had the audacity to talk back and be disrespectful about it. the comment you made clearly struck a nerve. or in this case multiple.
“oh, you slut!” the blonde one shrieks, clearly more than upset by your doubts about her services as a concubine.
in a flash of rage, she gives you a firm push, sending you backwards until you fall into the fountain with a loud splash.
your lady-in-waiting is the one gasping this time. she looks at you with great worry in her eyes, not knowing if she needs to go fetch uraume or not. she doesn’t have much say in the matter either way.
you’re humiliated by this. you can feel the water seep into the robes of your kimono, staining the beloved material. your hair is wet as well, the water droplets falling off the ends of your locks.
“pah, you look pathetic,” one of the lower ranking concubines chimes in—giggling at the unfortunate situation you got yourself in. the others follow with their own high pitched laughs, “serves you right.”
you don’t even know what you should do. your body feels heavy because of the water wetting your clothes. your nails drag along the fountain’s surface, trying to compose yourself before you do anything irrational.
you grit your teeth and take a deep breath. you’re shaking, both because of the cold settling over your body as well as the anger simmering inside of you. you open your mouth to say something, only to be interrupted.
by someone you didn’t expect to see any time soon.
“enough.”
the deep tone sends chills down your spine. the volume of the male voice nearly shakes the ground. it’s powerful, dominant and quite aggressive. as if the owner of the voice is pissed. no, more than that.
the group of concubines freeze, not even daring to turn around and face the unexpected visitor. you notice your lady-in-waiting immediately falling to her knees, bowing at the man whom you know very well.
“my lord,” you stammer out, being the first to speak up and address him.
you’re surprised to see sukuna back this early from his business trip. he normally stays away from the estate for days on end.
sukuna’s footsteps are heavy. his strides are menacingly slow. the aura surrounding him makes the others shake—one concubine being smart enough to bow to him. the king of curses is not one to be messed with, especially when he’s angry.
“tsk. have you lost all your respect while i was gone?” sukuna growls, seeing how the group of concubines are frozen in place with fearful expressions on their faces.
the fact that they’re not bowing before him worsens his temper, “kneel.”
he raises one hand and they all knew what was going to happen. you squeal and shut your eyes, hearing that familiar and dooming sound of slashes around you. it doesn’t sound like they’ve hit anything, so you peek through your eyelashes.
you see how the group of women have dropped to their knees the instant sukuna raised his hand in that specific manner. everyone knew just what that meant; death to anyone who’s got their head held high in his presence.
you’ve all seen enough people get decapitated by that same action to know that the sorcerer was not playing around.
sukuna scoffs. he walks up towards you, ignoring the pleas of the other concubines that are begging for his forgiveness. his bottom set of eyes look down at them with disdain before focusing on your figure again.
he silently stands still at the edge of the fountain. his large frame looms over you and you find yourself struggling to get up from the water to bow at him as well. you keep your eyes on your lap, “i’m sorry, my lord.”
sukuna hisses at your apology. a warning for you to shut your mouth. you’re apologising when it’s not your fault and that irritates him more than anything. two of his strong arms reach down to pick you up from your vulnerable position.
the king of curses hoists you over his shoulder like you weigh nothing. he’s not bothered by the fact that you’re dripping wet. in fact, both of his left arms wrap around your torso in attempt to warm you up.
“stay. you’ll all be dealt with accordingly when i return,” sukuna harshly orders your aggressors as he turns around and walks away from the group. he carries you in his arms, not sparing a single glance at his concubines.
he doesn’t even care that he stepped on one of the women’s hands as he passed by. the high pitched shriek only serves to annoy him, which you notice by the way he squeezes your waist in response.
it’s silent between you two for a bit. sukuna steps inside of the estate, his ominous aura making you hesistant to speak. you decide to stay quiet for the sake of keeping the peace. for now.
sukuna’s breathing is a little heavy. he’s trying not to lash out or say anything hurtful. he doesn’t like raising his voice at you—but sometimes he feels like he needs to. especially when you land in situations like those.
“how long has this been going on?” sukuna asks through a heavy sigh. his red eyes are focused on the end of the hallway, where his chambers lay. the veins in his neck look like they could pop out any second now, “and don’t you dare fuckin’ lie to me, y’hear?”
you gulp. you’ve never been so nervous to answer him, ever. you attempt to respond, “uhm, for quite a while, my lord.”
sukuna breathes in sharply at the revelation. the fact that you did not specify your answer only made him think that it’s worse than you’re making it out to be. he stops in his tracks, two hands on your waist as he forces you to face him.
your body dangles in the air as sukuna makes you look at him from up close, showing you that dangerous look in his eyes. you do not dare to avert your gaze from his as he speaks.
“you should’ve told me the moment they started disrespecting you like that,” sukuna grunts. another big hand grabs your jaw firmly, squeezing your cheeks together. you whine as it hurts a little.
he scoffs and releases your jaw with a light push, “pathetic.”
you feel your body get thrown into your original position once more. your head is upside down and your legs hang limply over his shoulder.
you try to defend yourself in a quiet tone, “i thought you were too busy. i didn’t want to bother you with such unimportant matters.”
it’s true. as much as you wanted to tell sukuna about the mistreatment you were receiving, you knew how busy he was attending to more urgent business. you didn’t want to annoy him with your own problems that you could easily solve.
if only you could stand up for yourself.
“nonsense,” sukuna raises his voice in a moment of weakness, though remembers that you’ve probably been through enough for the day. he doesn’t need to add to that by treating you like shit as well.
he simply sighs it off in annoyance, “unimportant, huh? ‘s that how you think i view you?”
you raise an eyebrow at sukuna’s last sentence. you’re at a loss for words. you know sukuna values you more than any of his other concubines—it’s the main reason you’re getting bullied for—yet you never heard him speak to you in such a surprisingly soft way.
almost like he’s disappointed that you don’t realise the extent of his favoritsm. he cares about you more than you actually think he does.
“i-i’m sorry, my lord,” you stutter. you really do not have a clue about what to say. all you can do is apologise as you’re left overthinking that one little sentence he said.
“brat,” sukuna quickly regains his usual stoic and stern composure.
he reaches his chambers and enters his personal bathroom before putting you down on your feet. he looks down at your short stature, feeling the warmth of your body leave his skin once you’re separated.
sukuna watches you shiver. he wants to get angry at you for not telling him about anything that’s been going on while he’s not present, though he simply cannot at the moment.
he’ll let you off the hook for now. but, he’s surely going to give you your own special scolding after he’s taken care of the other concubines. the man grabs a large towel from nearby and messily wraps it around your upper body.
sukuna turns around to walk out of his bathroom, looking over his shoulder once more, “get dressed into somethin’ else before you catch a cold.”
he calls for a couple servants to tend to you while he’s away to take care of those deviant concubines. sukuna watches the three maids rush to your service, preparing you a new set of clothes as well as trying to dry you off.
his gaze lingers on you for more than is necessary, his jaw clenching at the sight of you trembling from the low temperatures you’re experiencing. sukuna’s going to make sure those other women pay for what they’ve done to you.
he leaves the bathroom after that, though not without leaving you an order to follow;
being intoxicated has never appealed to you in the same sense it appeals to other people in your age group. frank is pleasantly surprised when you admit that you’ve never been drunk, and he’s curious when you explain you’ve never been comfortable drinking around other people. when he was your age, he was bar hopping with his platoon until his vision was blurry and he was sure a hangover would be involved the next day.
“do you wanna try, baby? i’ll take care of you, you know that,” frank extends his arm, thumb sliding across your hip as your body folds into the couch cushion.
“i do want to try. i think.. i think you’re the only person i’d feel safe with,” you admit, curious about how intoxication would feel. the idea of your mind being altered and your actions slow made your stomach lining feel like it was turning inside out, but with frank it was different. with frank, you could trust him to take care of you. a soft smile tugs at the corner of frank’s mouth— the fact that he’s the only one you’d feel comfortable loosening the reins around, and omitting control of yourself satiates a need frank didn’t even realize he had.
the first shot he gives you is out of his mouth. he swishes it around, embedding some of his saliva in the alcohol before tapping your lips and signaling for you to open up. with obedience frank has trained into you, your lips part and eyes close, waiting for the waterfall of alcohol off frank’s tongue.
by the third shot, you’re feeling loose as ever. it’s a lot of climbing all over frank like he’s some sort of gymnastics bar, giggling even though nothing is funny, and pressing your nose to his neck and taking a deep breath like you’re somehow scenting him. by the fourth shot (and that’s when frank decidedly cut you off) you’re whining and grinding against his lap. he’s just so pretty, you think to yourself, big muscles flexing under his shirt, soft eyes that care for you, a happy trail that you catch a glimpse of every time he lifts his arms…
“look at you, baby girl. so needy when you’re drunk, hm? did you know you were going to be horny?” frank’s curiosity isn’t meant to be patronizing, and even through your foggy mindset, you can tell his question is genuine. you’ve always been a little shy about asking frank to get you off, despite the fact that you’ve seen every inch of him, so the way you’re openly moving against him is a pleasant surprise.
“no, didn’t know. just happened, frank. ‘m so wet, i just need to finish a few times, i think. can you help me, please?”
“christ…” frank puffs out a sigh, throwing his head back just enough to expose the neck you can’t stop sniffing and licking. he should have had a discussion with you before getting you to this point. all he wants to do is press his cock into you, and fuck you until you’re a whiny puddle beneath him, but he didn’t think it through. he didn’t consider the possibility that alcohol could have that effect on you. “just keep rubbing yourself on my cock, okay? get a few good orgasms in before i put you to bed, baby. i can’t take advantage of you like this, so just use me for what you need. that’s what i’m here for. i’ll take good care of you in the morning if you still want it.”
next time he gets you like this, a discussion will be held beforehand. next time you’re drunk and needy, frank will be satisfying you with his mouth before splitting you open.
synopsis: he needs to blow off steam, and what better way than to use you?
you were face deep into the pillows. your hands were stuck under you, and you were stuck under paul. you were writhing with pleasure as he thrusted into you. you clutched hard onto whatever fabric you could as he rammed into you. your hair was in his hands, being pulled as he fucked you.
“fuck! paul!” you screamed, feeling your cunt tighten around him.
you’ve been at it for over two hours now. your legs were shaking, and your bottom lip trembled with every thrust. but he was relentless.
paul was angrier than you had ever seen him before. the incident with bella had left him so angry that not even the brawl with jacob could calm him down. you had decided to take matters into your own hands, and now you were being used as a hole.
“take it.” he moaned, “take it so fuckin well.” his hand was now pushing down on your head, pushing you further into the sheets. you trembled as you felt a wave of pleasure wash over you.
your legs shook under him, and he felt you tighten around him, squeezing hard.
you were panting, your chest heaved with air as you struggled to come down from your high. but paul wasn’t done.
you felt him twitch inside of you, and you groaned, exhaustion washing over you. paul kissed you gently, “pretty girl.” just as he moved again, thrusting hard once more.
request: “Please could you write something for Paul x Seth x imprint where imprint is in subspace and feeling totally floaty for a while afterwards, and the boys are trying to coax her round? Maybe Seth is worried bc he hasn’t see her like that before but Paul knows what to do”
