seeing the two love scenes together, i see what freen meant when she said the ep 11 love scene was more romantic and delicate after seeing people calling the ep 8 love scene delicate because of how intense the ep 9 love scenes were.

the main difference being sam's gaze too. she pointed out how sam was a bit drunk and she was quite aggressive and that's amplified when you compare to how gentle her gaze was at the bed scene on ep 11. even with the director's cut, there was no point of extreme lust as if they took their time together unlike the first love scene where it went from slow to aggressive.

gap brought out so many good things for the sapphics but the way they gave love scenes will always be something to appreciate. all love scenes gave different feelings. the shots never catering to the male gaze by showing little skin yet presenting very well the sensation of the act. the actual love scenes not just the characters acting upon the lust but having sex as a way to show their affection.

credits to the director coz even though he was a man, he listened to the feedbacks esp of the actors themselves. of course, credit to freenbeck themselves for delivering the love scenes so incredibly well. the directing choice of letting them do as they think the characters will definitely helped make the scenes more affectionate than intense. we were actually seeing characters make love and not just have sex.

one of my favorite things about gap: the series is how unapologetically horny it is. i’m not even saying this just as a horny lesbian, but really in the larger context of what it means to be watching television within this heteronormative world we all live in. i feel like queer women’s sexuality is so often either invisible, sanitized, or exaggerated for the male gaze.

but like the truth is, often a big part of being a wlw is wanting to fuck other women. and i just feel like the way sam and mon are so clearly attracted to each other is rare to see. the way they actually follow through with the attraction and kiss and have sex is rare. and the way that it all feels like it was made with queer women in mind is probably the rarest thing of all. i hope writers and producers are out here taking notes!!! 🍀❤️‍🔥🔥
