Plan for Lab

for class next week, i plan to work on my documentary as a whole. i have already started my documentary as i have pieced multiple videos together. i feel the videos that already in my imovie will be my ending, but i’m not entirely sure as i will be collecting more film this weekend. i’m going to add a soundtrack. i’m also going to edit any other footage i put into my documentary. once everything is in imovie, i will finalize cuts and transitions.

November 24, 2017. 9:58 pm. After much anticipation, I finally got the chance to see Disney-Pixar’s newest movie, Coco with my little cousins, Mikaella and Keira. The story follows a young boy, Miguel, who aspires to be a musician although his family despises the idea of anything musical. Living or dead, family is family, influencing us in some way or another, making us the person we are. Although some may be dead, they live on in our memories, allowing their legacy to live on, honoring their existence.In the story of Coco, Miguel pursuing music has to do with him chasing his dream and embracing his love for music, even if the people around him oppose the idea. Music is powerful and capable of captivating people’s heart, just as it impacted Miguel’s life. Full of vibrant colors, soothing guitar playing, joyful and heart-wrenching moments, Coco highly emphasizes the importance of family and music

My film will be about me coming to Rutgers and basically finding my way around here on the East Coast all while trying to work on my craft and make a home out of my new state. The film I’ve collected consists of videos of me meeting my little cousins for the very first time when I came to New Jersey. Family has always been a huge part of my life and my newfound family here on the East Coast has helped make my transition smooth, making the 3,000 miles seem insignificant. Along with film of my little cousins and I bonding, I also have videos of the football games, parties, and my friends and I just hanging out. I also have videos of when I first saw snow as that was new for me. I also have film of me in New York, making my way around on the subway, walking around, and in an audition studio. With me making my home on the East Coast, I have also tried to further my career here on this coast by attending as many auditions as possible. I’ll use this film to demonstrate my love for the city and the passion I have for my art. Long story short, this film will center around an Orange county girl, born and raised in California, attempting to acclimate with her new environment, while working to make a name for herself in New York.

Black Mirror

Recently, I was told to indulge in the intense and mind-boggling Netflix show that is Black Mirror. Each episode is different and there is no chronological timeline; however, the theme remains constant. Technology plays a vital part in our lives, but at the same time can contribute to one’s downfall due to constantly evolving software and the conveniences that come along with new and improved technology. When you think you are starting to understand plot line of the show, the show does a 180 and mentally fucks you over. If you are in need of a new show or just want to watch something that will possibly melt your brain, leave you completely speechless, or have your mind spin and pull you in different directions, questioning the future of technology or the nature of people- Black Mirror is the show for you. #blackmirror

(I’d love to sit here and tell you about how the show made me feel or what happens within each episode that really just leaves me baffled, but I’d rather you experience the rollercoaster of emotions by yourself. Besides, Black Mirror isn’t a show you can just hear about. You have to physically watch it and immerse yourself in its mental ride.)
