some of my favourite buddie fanfics part 8
once again, sharing some of my favourite buck and eddie fanfictions that i’ve read in the last little while
not now, not ever by feelingqueerbaitedlol
“Eddie, that’s not your fault. This isn’t something you can control. Chris is worried about you, and of course he’s scared for you, but he could never be scared of you.” Buck paused for a moment. “It’s not selfish to not be okay, Eddie. God, you’ve been through so much. So much more than anyone should ever have to. It’s okay to not be okay.”
(or the 5b breakdown spec fic that i'm writing before tim can decanonize it)
love is a river (and mine runs red) by hockeyandfootballismyish
Buck is finally back at work after the lawsuit but things are frosty between him and the rest of the 118.
What happens when Buck gets hurt protecting Bobby and no one realizes until it's too late?
the best of your dreams cannot grow by probieravi
Buck remembers it all, and it should be a good memory, it should be the best memory of Buck’s fucking life, except—
(or, buck wakes up alone.)
All you never say (is that you love me) by justhockey
It’s such a small act, but it’s got Buck’s heart racing. The way Eddie thinks of him when he isn’t even here, the way he knows all of Buck’s favourites without even having to ask.
Buck swallows the lump in his throat and it tastes a lot like I love you.
(Or, five silent acts of love, and one very, very loud one.)
next to your heartbeat (where i should be) by lecornergirl
“You always look at Buck like that.”
Eddie swallows. “Like what?”
“The same way you look at me,” Christopher says and flips to the next photo like it’s nothing.
Only it’s not nothing, because the next photo is from the aquarium, Eddie reading the sign and Buck next to him, and Buck is—
Buck is looking at Eddie the way Eddie was looking at Buck.
“Yeah, he does it too,” Christopher says and flips to the next one. And the next one, and the next one, and in every single one it’s the same.
i love you, ain’t that the worst thing you ever heard? by rarakiplin (gmontys)
Buck’s eyes fall shut, something pained and vulnerable sliding into the bend of his eyebrows. “I’m…I’m with Taylor now,” he says, barely a whisper.
And Eddie’s been doing a pretty good job at being brave about all of this, at not flinching away from Buck’s rejection, but that hits and burrows.
or, in which eddie's will reveal is a love confession, and buck takes a second to catch up
My sense of wonder’s just a little tired by Mellaithwen
Spoilers for 5x13 Fear-O-Phobia
“You stayed,” is all Eddie says a little dumbly, a little in awe, and Buck’s quiet soft rambling comes to a sudden stop.
“Yeah, I was just—” he starts to explain about the mail again, gesturing to the door, when he seems to get the gist of what Eddie’s really saying, and his shoulders slump down a little then with a release of tension; “Eddie, of course I stayed.”
Of course, because his son called him. Christopher called Buck, and Buck came running. Buck busted down the door. Buck got Eddie on his feet. He got Christopher settled, and reassured, and then he led Eddie out of the rubble of his room and over to the dining table.
The morning after the night before, Eddie wakes up to a new day.
An Author’s Broken Heart by jack_hunter
Sunshine and Gunpowder by E. B. Grant became the LAFD’s most talked about topic for a month, and Eddie found himself buying the damn book to see what all the fuss was about.
“It’s so accurate, this guy has to be a firefighter!” Someone had said and that blew up like crazy, and suddenly, there were subreddits dedicated to discovering the identity of the author. Eddie had read a lot of good books in his time, but a book about a firefighter that was actually written well? Not something he ever expected to see. Apparently it was a gay romance novel about a firefighter and a paramedic, and Eddie had to admit, the storyline sounded great. A firefighter and a detective team up to find a criminal who is killing firefighters. Who wouldn’t want to read that! It sounded amazing.
“It sounds crap,” Chim said around a mouthful of sandwich.
