Church of the Gesù, mother church of Jesuits, Rome (1, 2)
Pope Francis will celebrate Mass at the Church of the Gesu on July 31 (feast day of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, founder).
Today, There was EFL Reading – Second ELT Symposium in my university. Speakers were Leo Wood and Tony Gurr. Symposium was about reading. First speaker who was Leo Wood. According to Wood, if we don’t have the knowledge about the culture of the reading text, we could not the completely understand to reading text because, if we had the knowledge about the reading text, we can presume that about unknown words. He were showed us by an example and this example included adress of Kadikoy. The adress was explain the how Wood can come to school with shuttle but there were some unknown words that was ‘’Simit Sarayi’’ in the adress. While Wood showing the adress, a foreingn guess asked the ‘’what does Simit Sarayi mean?’’ to Wood and this act shows that Wood was definitely right. Well, What am I think about it? I agree with Mr.Wood, because when I was starting from learning English to till the now, I know that I had been exposed American and British cultures because, I need to understand the cultures for learning to a foreign language. All the texts which I have read during my english education were about people or cities which are including (carrying) their cultures and when there are some points which I don’t know meanings, absolutely I have to ask. If I don’t do this, I cannot translate texts totaly. Second speaker was Tony Gurr and he gave some example about how we can improve our english language with reading and writing. These examples were actually about process and product aproaches. How can I explain these aproaches? For example, in the process aproach, there is a teaching but we need duration fort he teaching. In the product approach, there are producing at end of the duration. According to Gurr, all the learning skills follow eachother. Actually, Mr.Gurr’s presentation was a little technical information so explaining the presentation is a little hard for me but he also tried make easy unterstand the approaches to us so he talk about the schema and he asked the our story that what’s your story ? or Which things supported you for learning english? When we thought about these story, we awered of it. He was right because we have been doing it with watching english series, reading english boks, playing english video games and writing english essays. In addition Mr.Gurr was so funny. He has provided some quates about the reading to us. It was ‘’Reading isn’t dead but its changing’’ (Godin, S. 2012). Let’s think about the quatos! Do you think, waht does Seth G. Means this quate? I have some ideas about the quate. I think, Godin meaned people don’t like read to books anymore, They like read to bestseller, short stories, blogs and e-books. To conclusion, I understood that the teaching english is hard but it is not imposible. We need to time and need to knowledge like cultures. If I have a magic stick, I would like to be a good teacher and would like to learn every cultures. Because I think, English is the heart of the communications with everyone so I want to be chain between the people and their life. I mean I want to help others learn to use language, because through the communication, people may understand eachother and English is the best way for the every nations.

Microphone Check: J.Cole: 'Ain't Enough of Us Trying' Today I listened a broadcast on the NPR.org. It was an interview. I will mention something about the interview. This is the first interview for Ali Shaheed Muhammad. J.Cole spoke to Microphone Check hosts Muhammed and Frannie Kelly. J.Coles mention story of his album which calls 2014 Forest Hills Drive. The album is very inspiring because it is about J.Cole's life. He actually tell us his story, his changing life and they happened in a home in Forest Hill. He thinks that he grown in this home because he had own room, he had a girlfriend, he learned to drive a car and then when he went to Newyork for colloge, his lost his home because his mother didn't pay mortgage payment. After the years, He realize the album at 2014 and he bought the home too. He says that he never forget this home and he thinks that his mother proud of him for bought home. J.Cole's album is not about just a home, is also about policy and humanity. I really impressed the interview because it was a good critique of capitalism, was about the qualitys and humanity. If you want to read full episode of interview and want to hear it or want to listen J.Cole's album, you should just click it: www.http://www.npr.org/blogs/microphonecheck/2014/12/12/370148449/j-cole-it-aint-enough-of-us-trying

The Metropolis interview: MK I listened a broadcast on the NPR radio and it was an interview about MK. (Mare Kinchen). Now, I will mention you how was like. In my opinion, NPR was so good, because, while the people were speaking ,the music was playing in background, and if you want to read something about broadcast, you can do it at the same time. Jason Bentley interviews MK to discuss his history, his new project and what sets him apart in today’s dance-music world. MK describes the music as a drawing paint. He thinks that the music is not for just earning money. Music is like love for him. He cares music and he loves music so much in true meaning. I think, a musician should be like him cause the music is art and art is about passion. A Single Man
A Single Man was written by Christopher Isherwood and directed by Tom Ford. The book is one of the first gay novel and A Single Man based on the novel of the same name. The movie is the story of George Falconer, an English college professor living in Los Angeles. He has a boyfriend but, one day he losts his boyfriend in a car accident. The movie starts with the accident. After the accident Mr.Falconer is called from his boyfriend’s relatives and they says that we don’t want to you come to funeral ceromony because of they don’t accept their homosexuality. Next day, he wakes up to bad day. He feels real pain, it means he suffers from a chronic depression triggered by the death of his lover. He tries to move on his routine life. He goes to university and he goes to supermarket but actually he decides to give up. The movie shows to what may be the last day of George’s life. In 1960’s California was a liberal place. Many different people moved to California in this period time. The book and the movie show us the gay people in 60’s California. George has a huge and postmodern house, has a vintage mercedes and he has impeccambly wardrobe. People can imagine to luxury of 60’s in the United States and they can see the beatniks, bohemian youngs and viewers will see especially two handsome boy while they watching the movie, and the boys dresses white t-shirts and blue jeans. When a viewer watches this movie, they can see some different technique as the emotional contrast. The contrast really impressed me because, George generally unhappy so movie looks like gray and cold colours but when he meets someone or when he feels a little good, the colours turn the warm colours. This is the best effects I have ever seen, because I felt like George while I watching the movie. Well, this movie directed by Tom Ford and it is the first for him. He actually is a fashion designer. I think the colour effects come to the movie from a fashionist idea and in my opinion, the movie is so accomplished because of effects, the story and the example of first postmodern life style in California.
