Blowing a breath outwardly through his nose, Michael leans in to press a simple kiss onto August’s lips. Waking up after a nightmare to beautiful eyes and reassuring touch made the situation better, but he could still feel the rapid beat of his heart in his chest. “I will be…” He whispers softly, laying them both back down so that he could curl into the thinner man’s chest. Sweat was now cooled on his skin, his eyes were no longer rapid and scared, and his brain had finally understood that he was safe right here with August. In truth, if the younger man hadn’t been laying next to him, it would’ve taken longer for him to recover, but merely feeling his presence was enough. Nose meets mid-neck, just under his chin. “You sleep okay?” A whisper on skin “I apologize if our foot warmer moves too much. She gets nervous around cute boys too”
when he felt the kiss, august leaned into michael. the kiss made him feel like the other confided in him. he looked at the other when he pulled away. “ good, ” he whispered. “ he bit his lower lip as the other rested his head on his chest. he sighed softly. he was missing this in his life. so happy that michael was a man that he could be with and felt safe with, and the other would feel the same way with him. “ no, she was totally fine. i slept fine, until you woke me. do you want to talk about it ?? ”

Jamie: we can watch the latest marvel movie or something...
Jamie: also, you need to bring some snacks or pizza. which one do you choose?
August: where you're going to say, oh look it's your twin peter parker? pass.
August: how bout a cute romance comedy, or ooh, some sports film that gives us feels.
August: snacks. i'll bring the snacks. popcorn, lots of chips, twizzlers, and anything else you want.

He could never catch a break in life, but at the very least, it wouldn’t lead to a fight between the two. “Well, I appreciate your empathy in the situation.” Maybe it was a sign from the heavens above that he didn’t need to the flavorful treat. He only had secured a few licks of the water-ice but unceremoniously dropping it on the stranger. “Well, Rube won’t be happy.”
august smiled at the other male. he didn’t care much about the shirt. he had another. eyes looked at the other and nodded. “ rube ?? ” he asked, confused. he clearly had no idea where this was going. “ i can buy you another if you like ?? no big deal. ”

The peak of his tongue dragged over his apex lip, peering at nothing, in particular, staring blankly, lost in space. Only beginning to realize his melting water-ice because of the blood color staining his hands, switching hands after he snatched himself out of it. He took a long strip of his tongue against the tasty frozen dessert. That was until he stumbled over his own shoelace, untied, the cup slipped from his hand, despite his best attempts to grab at it before the water-ice splattered against someone’s face. Eyes widened, his mouth ajar for a brief moment. “Jesus! Reaching into his back pocket, he began to quickly wipe away the water-ice from his face. “God, I’m sorry about that. It was a complete accident, I swear.”
the water was cold. he was not expecting being drenched by such cold water. it was tagged in the bucket ice challenge, but it was a glass. he looked at the guy that had stumbled. “ it’s ok, it’s not like you did this on purpose. ” he responded. he chuckled as he felt the other try to wipe the water from his face. “ you’re fine. like you said, it was an accident. and it was just water. ” august said. “ good thing it doesn’t stain, ” he joked.

On the ground! Adrenaline floods every pore in the way of perspiration, red blood cells race in their individuality in a space so confined it was almost molecular, oxygen and artificial insulin bring energy to muscles that move in memory and training and blue eyes search and observe, to the left, against the man who’s weapon was point directly at the car door he was protected by. To the right, his partner, crouched in the same position, weapon now pointing toward a taller man. He can feel his vest tight against his chest and shoulders but he still feels the vulnerability sink, as if the bulletproofing would never be enough to stop the bullet that had his name etched into it. There was a sick feeling in his stomach, and the flick of safety off has him wide eyed. The loudness of the bang rings in his ears and suddenly his brain acts. Another follows suit and the moment metal makes impact with skin, he awakes with a start.
Michael allows a pained and trembling breath escape his lips. Strong hands run through short hair, down the back of his neck to massage his shoulder gently, eyes fluttering shut. He was safe. Movement to the right of him makes eyes dart, but they settle on the figure who rises from the sheets. “…did I wake you?” He asks softly, trying his hardest to keep anxiety at bay.
he could feel the movements in the bed, and when he turned, he slowly open his eyes, looking at michael strained. he was sweating and he knew that the other was having a nightmare. this was new, seeing michael like this, but not new seeing someone distressed from a michael. he grabbed the other’s hand that was closest to him and he turned his body to look at him, letting the other hand rest on his chest. “ michael ?? ” he whispered, as he tried to calm him, he shushed him and tried to sooth him as much as he could but when he got up and woke up with a fright, the boy moved.
eyes looked at michael, watching him. as soon as he turned to look at him he reached for his hand. “ yea, but it’s ok. you were having a nightmare, ” he said. “ are you ok?? ” he said. he sat up and looked at him.

“ he’s adorable, ” he said. “ i definitely thought of getting a dog, and a dalmatian was in the running. ” august chuckled. “ hi poochini, ” he grinned. “ he’s precious. ” he spoke. “ how old is he ?? ”

“Its not a big holiday back home but I have learned to love it since I’ve been here. It is quite fun isn’t it? I haven’t really thought about the costume yet,” he replied to the younger man with a smile. “All of those would make really good costumes, though I think Spidey would be a lot of fun too.”
“ it’s one of those holidays where i truly enjoy because of dressing up. i want to throw a halloween party this year, but it’s a lot of work, i know that for sure, ” he responded. “ i think you could be a mad scientist ?? ” he chuckled. eyes on the other male now. “ i think so too. ”

Probably just recycling something from the past few years…I dunno. What do you think I should be?” His lips curled into a smirk at August’s reply and the little wink sent in his direction. “Spiderman?” He tilted his head aside just a bit in consideration. “Hmm..I think you’ll kind of nailed it.”
he grinned. “ well, i think planning the costume is something very on point to do, ” he grinned as he watched the other. “ well, i don’t know, what have you dressed up as in the past ?? ” august asked. he thought for a moment different halloween costume ideas. “ you can be luigi cause you’re tall. someone has to be your mario, ” he chuckled. “ ooh, how about like a prince charming, you have that look, ” he smiled.

August had always deserved better than to be flirting with the idea of being with him. In truth, he was partially glad that the other was distancing himself from him and his problematic lifestyle but part of him couldn’t help but wonder what it was that had brought him to that decision. “My uncle has a house in Italy, I think we’l be spending most of our time there. It’s… not necessarily a vacation. My uncle had no idea that I was using like my father and so he’s punishing me by putting me through his own sort of detox.” The paramedic shrugs, pushing him backward in the water, merely wanting to lay there afloat. Thinking about his life changing was hard, but having two new lives now dependent on him, it made him want to be better. “How’ve you been?"
“ oh, ” he whispered. well at least he was getting some form of help, even if it were forced. he didn’t like seeing vincent like he did the night he had spoken his true feelings. all he wanted was the best for him, and he didn’t want him to–– well, suffer anymore. he wanted him to be healthy, and overall better. “ well, it will benefit you in the end. and i’m glad that your uncle cares. you have family that cares, and that’s always a positive in my opinion, ” he responded. “ i’ve been good. this summer was crazy with performances. i think my instagram blew up a couple thousand for playing. i’m close to 3k now, which is exciting, ” he chuckled. “ but excited to finish school, last year and all. ”
