“When it Comes to You”

Jungkook x Reader

A/n: This one shot is inspired by the version @sighhhnamjoon posted of Jungkook’s “2U” cover. I recommend reading and listening at the same time if possible. It’s gorgeous. Roommates pt. 2 should be up this weekend but I’m sorry I just had to write this I’ve listened to it like 24 times and I love it every time wow.

“Babe, I promise, we’re almost there!” You felt Jungkook’s laugh shake his body while he intertwined your hand in his. The wings of butterflies grazed the insides of your stomach, a result of his gentle touch and your nerves bubbling up. It was your one-year anniversary and he said he had something special planned. You weren’t expecting anything too extravagant, considering they had a show later that night, but when he insisted you wear a blindfold as soon as you climbed in the car, you knew something was up.

“Kookieeee,” you whined, getting impatient, “I just want to know where we’re going.”

The car came to a slow stop and once again was filled with his soft laughter as you felt his lips brush up against the back of your hand.

“We made it, but you can’t look yet. Wait here and I’ll help you get out.” He soon was guiding you safely out of your seat, chuckling slightly to himself at the pout on your face. His hand was wrapped around yours, leading you in the direction of the surprise. Moments later, a chill entered the air, and the feeling of sunlight was no longer hitting your skin.

“Where are you taking me?” You interrogated, growing ever more anxious to see what was going on. He dropped your hand and you felt the warmth of his body behind you, heat radiating off him and the subtle smell of his cologne still looming. His hands carefully ran down your sides, examining the curves of your body before whispering to you a small “stay here”. Just as quickly as he came, he was gone once again. Soon, at a slightly farther distance, you heard him instruct you to remove your blindfold.

You reached for the cloth and slowly slid it down your face while your mouth hung open in awe, taking it all in as you as you stood on stage. He had brought you to the empty arena where they would be performing that night, the dim lights allowing you to make out the first few rows and not much else. It was like staring into silent emptiness.

“Jungkook…” you began. At a loss for words, you turned over your shoulder, looking for him to express your gratitude. Instead of finding him standing behind you as you expected, he was seated at a grand piano, small floor lights surrounding him. Before you could continue, his long fingers began to dance gracefully along the keys, producing a soothing melody that almost reminded you of a lullaby. You closed your eyes and inhaled deeply while he began singing, putting your back to him once more as you drank in his intoxicating voice. The notes resonated off the empty walls of the arena, immersing you in sound and causing your body to feel as if it were floating in calm waters. Your eyes opened to the blackness once more and suddenly you felt as if you were in the middle of the galaxy, simultaneously lost and exactly where you needed to be. It was as if you were staring into the void and it was staring back at you. The atoms making up your body were no longer yours and instead, they belonged to the universe, drifting peacefully in space.

His song ended with a repetition of the beginning notes, this time more drawn out and soulful. You both took a moment to look out into the abyss, wordlessly acknowledging the feeling that you both had of being the last two people on earth. After remaining motionless for a few more moments, you walked over to the piano bench, your footsteps echoing in the now silent arena as he began to stand.

“Did you like it?” he questioned nervously, wiping his palms on the thighs of his jeans.

“I loved it, Jungkook,” you replied, a smile stretching across your face. His face glowed in return while he placed a finger under your chin, slowly tilting your head upwards. Every moment spent with him felt like forever, and the second your lips brushed against his, you were reminded yet again of what it felt like to truly have your souls intertwined.
