       Working with Canary was fine, she could live with it but Ba.tgirl was a whole other issue. They had too much history together as that she could LIKE the other or at least respect her in the way she usually respected other women. She was far too closely affiliated with the damn bat and had stopped too many of her plans as that Pamela would easily warm up to her. She aready kept a certain distance to most people in general but Batg.irl? No chance they would become friends any time soon. Especially with the girl continuously being surprised Pamela didn’t make a 180° change while working with the birds. She was still a CRIMINAL, she always would be, nothing could ever change that or ever erase her history and she was sure she didn’t even want to truly change anything about her situation. It was easier to be hated than try befriend people that only got in her way or stabbed her in the back sooner or later anyway.

          “ You know if you hold any hopes up that I will become one of the GOOD GUYS maybe you shouldn’t hold your breath. It won’t happen and I also won’t be friends with any of you just ‘cause you’re not arresting me for once. ”

the birds were somewhat of a mixed bag. for the most part they got the job done, but the history made it a little rough sometimes, to say the least. pamela had always kept her distance, barely making eye contact and keeping her replies curt. it was a bit of a struggle, but barbara had done her best to make sure things stayed professional. she wasn’t bruce, and she didn’t have the same history with his rogues. she’d thought this could be a good opportunity to start afresh, but.. that seemed much easier said than done. she respected her, of course she did. pamela was a powerful woman in her own right, and while barbara had some reservations about her methods, her convictions were sometimes even admirable.

“i don’t need you to turn into some kinda angel, pam. just to finish the job and maybe not blow this team apart. that’s it.” she sighed, feeling the irritation flush through her veins. “if you don’t wanna be friends — that's f i n e. i’m not trying to make you someone you’re not.”

surely it was about time barbara gordon got the chance to let loose. she kept a tight ship most days, holding herself to strict 2-drink nights and morning trainings, none of which really allowed for going off the bend a little. but it was kate’s birthday, and that meant trays of champagne and wine that always just seemed to float by when her glass was empty. 

she stirs at the sudden warmth on her shoulder, turning into the touch. “it’s fine, dick, i’m fine !” she pushes the coat away clumsily with a giggle. “’m just havin’ fun, yeah?”
