Clover Slayers kahonoelle <3 Kahono and the rest of the underwater sea temple are the sword-smiths, who get their village attacked by Vetto (Upper 4) + some other demons. (More about au under cut)
This is also for bc femslash month (Prompt is Crossover) @bceventshub
Kahono is Noelle's assigned swordsmith, and while giving Noelle her sword (which is freely given by the corps) she asks for an insane amount of money (adjusting for inflation at the time) which SHE GETS (Noelle has no idea how the demon slayer corps works since she's been purposefully sheltered from it her whole life).
Kahono has the same passion of haganezuka when it comes to sword making, but way less annoying. Whenever Noelle breaks her sword though, she IS a little miffed, and keeps asking for an increasing amount of money whenever it happens. However along with her passion for swords, another passion she has is making instruments, and singing, which she doesn't get to do often considering most money goes to make swords, and most time aswell. Part of the reason she asks for money is to save up so she can pursue music aswell as make swords in the future without anyone telling her off for using corps budget.
Kahono makes/hones swords, and Kiato, as the eldest is in charge of learning how to operate and maintain the training doll: Licht type zero.
Also in the main piece where Kahono is repairing/sharpening/wtv the sword (where she is showing a wild amount of devotion to making the best sword for her swordsman), the sword was used by either Undine (Sengoku Water hashira) or Leviathan (Undine's predecessor). Noelle uses this sword after the swordsmansmith village arc in this au.

Happy Rare Pair Week, @bceventshub
Summary: Everyone has a Timer showing a countdown to the end of their life and Charlotte was no different. She was happy with hers until she was cursed to die sooner
Hey hey hey! Glad to have you all here. I’m glad to make this fic for a ship I’m calling Flower’s Fate (open to other ideas out there) for what was originally Poly Week but didn’t post in the end because I didn’t feel like it and now posting for Rare Pair Week instead.
Mana did a lot of strange things. It could change landscapes, change the flavor of your drink, and can even give the weakest person the strength of ten men. There was hardly any rhyme or reason to it, so no one thought too hard about it.
One of the many effects mana has on the body is the timer, aptly named the Timer. It was a clock that was etched on one’s wrists, counting down the seconds until death. The only Timers people could see were their own and their soulmate’s.
Hardly anyone looked at their Timer, though. It wasn’t healthy to think about just how long you have left to live. On the rare occasions one would look at a Timer would be to look at their soulmate’s just to see how long they had left to live.
It was the best way to keep people happy, but there was a slight issue. Children. Children are quite curious things and have been known to look at their Timers early on in life. Many parents and caretakers have taken to wrapping their children’s wrists with cloths, bandages, anything to stop them from looking at it until they got to be old enough to realize that it was a bad idea.
Ignorance was bliss. But there was only so much parents and caretakers could do. Covering up the Timer only made the temptation to look at it that much sweeter. There will always be moments of privacy in a child’s life when they can look at their own Timer without outside interference and Charlotte was one of those children.
Her parents had always made a spectacle about hiding it from her that she just couldn’t help herself. She couldn’t contain her curiosity. At the age of ten, she sneaked a glance at her own Timer while bathing. Looking down on her wrist, she saw that she had 80 years, 5 months, 1 week, 3 days, 19 hours, 14 minutes, and 42 seconds left to live. That was a long time. Longer than most people and that gave her comfort. There was more than enough time left for her to live.
That is until the mysterious witch showed up.
When Charlotte was 12 years old, there was a witch who came to the House of Roselei and placed a curse on Charlotte.
“A curse! A curse on you, House Roselei!” The witch announced. “When your daughter turns 18, it will activate. A curse that will engulf you all and kill her! If you wish to break it, she must have her heart stolen by a man!”
Before anyone had any time to do something, the witch left, and Charlotte was cursed.
Her Timer was now tainted, covered by a black mist that had a new Timer. What once showed a long and healthy life was now cut far too short. Instead of the 78 years that had been promised to her, she now had 6 years. All because of that stupid curse.
Every day, she looked at her Timer, watching the short amount of time she had to find a partner or her soulmate would find her in time to break the curse. But they didn’t come.
The only ones who came her way were selfish men who wanted nothing but the name of Roselei. It was isolating and knowing that each man who asked for her hand in marriage just for their own means only made her feel bitter. It was literally dragging her and her family to an early grave.
Unfortunately, there was no one there to save her. No man willing to do what was right or be worthy of her heart. For 6 long years, she tried and failed.
She was nearing 18 now and she laid in bed, looking at her Timer again. It showed 0 years, 0 months, 0 weeks, 0 days, 1 hour, 17 minutes, and 32 seconds left to live. In a little over an hour, the clock would strike midnight and she would die, taking everyone else around down with her.
Why was she so weak? How did she allow herself to get destroyed like this? Now she was going to die and it was all her fault. If only she had gotten strong enough to overpower her curse in time. If only she could find her soulmate in time. If only she was just a little bit better.
These thoughts consumed and destroyed her mind. If she was going to die, she might as well do it far away from everyone else so they wouldn’t be engulfed by her magic. No one else should suffer for her own shortcomings.
She left a note on her bed and left through her window like a thief in the night.
When she made it to the ground, she only had so much time before her Timer went off, activating her curse, and destroying everything around her. She didn’t have a lot of time to get away from everyone.
She used all her strength to run. Run far away into a nearby forest, hoping to find no one in her way. Even as her legs burned with pain, she continued to run as fast as she could. She ran without stopping until she reached her limit.
Now that she reached her limit, she collapsed on the ground, panting harshly. As she was panting, she brought her wrist back into her line of sight to look at her Timer again. It said that she only had 20 minutes now, meaning she ran for almost an hour straight, no wonder she was so tired.
If she got this far, there was probably no one around to hurt when her curse activated. Lying down and waiting for death was unbecoming of her but she at least had the choice of where to do it.
She closed her eyes and awaited death. This was the end of her story.
“Darling, look.” That voice. She’s never heard the voice before. “I knew I saw someone.”
Charlotte opened her eyes to see who this stranger was. It was a tall woman with pink hair and purple eyes. She was wearing a pink low fitting corset that covered just enough of her body to not be called indecent and matching boots.
Another woman, much shorter, came out of the foliage. She had long black hair tied into a braid, wearing foreign clothes, the top she was wearing was black, her pants were grey, and sandals. “Looks like you’re right, there was a person over here. I really can’t see well in the dark.”
“You have shadow magic, how do you have night blindness?”
Once Charlotte caught her breath, she quickly recollected herself and backed away. “Stay back!”
The women looked shocked. The pink-haired woman asked, “what’s going on? Are you okay?”
Charlotte was holding her arm, as if it would slow down her Timer, and she moved her hand just enough to look at the time. 10 minutes and 8 seconds remaining. She only had 10 minutes left to live, if these two didn’t get out of here soon, they were going to die along with her.
“You have to go, now! Or else it’ll consume you!” She could’ve phrased that better but she was still exhausted after running nonstop for an hour.
That didn’t seem to bother either of them. The pink haired woman just had a pondering, almost concerned, look on her face and asked, “is that your Timer? It looks cursed.”
“Yeah, I—” The words got stuck in Charlotte’s throat. “Wait… can you see my Timer?”
She just nodded.
Desperation filled Charlotte’s mind as she continued to talk. “Then… then are you my soulmate?”
“No, that’s not it at all. I have fate magic, it lets me manipulate and see fate. That’s how I can see Timers even if someone isn’t my soulmate, and if I touch someone, they can see Timers too.”
That’s right, fate magic. She’s read about that before. It’s a rare type of magic so not much is known about it. “Even though you have fate magic, is there any possibility that I’m your soulmate?”
The pink haired woman sucked in a breath through her teeth. “I could explain how I know but it’s better if I just show you.” The pink haired woman walked up next to Charlotte, put a hand on her shoulder so they were now touching, and showed off her wrist with her Timer.
Her Timer was odd. There was a slice through the middle and it didn’t show a time or anything reminiscent of time. First it just showed the word “savory” then it changed to another word, “creek.” Her Timer changed once again but this time it wasn’t a word, it was just a picture of a bed.
“As you can see, my Timer’s broken. After breaking my Timer, I also broke my connection to my soulmate. I don’t have a soulmate.”
This was a lot of new information to take in all at once, she couldn’t believe there was a way to sever a Timer and bond to a soulmate. “How did you do that?”
“It’s a technique that is from my country.” The short woman said, raising a hand.
Charlotte looked back up at the short woman and caught a glimpse at her Timer. It was also broken. From what she saw, there was a word that she couldn’t quite understand.
パン
Then it changed again to show a picture of a squid. That was all Charlotte could see before the woman put her hand down.
These two were very strange but in her current predicament… maybe, just maybe, they could help her before her own cursed Timer ran out. “Who are you people?”
“I’m Vanessa Wyrdwitch and this is my girlfriend, Yami Ichika.”
Yami turned her head to Vanessa, and said, “don’t tell her our names.”
“Come on, Yami. She needs help. Look at her Timer.” Vanessa put a hand on Yami’s shoulder. “Look at it, it’s tainted. Shouldn’t we help her?”
Yami looked at Charlotte’s wrist, she seemed conflicted about this. “Cursed woman, what’s your name?”
“Charlotte. Charlotte Roselei.”
“Okay, Charlotte. I’m sure you know this but your Timer has been cursed and you’ll die in–” Yami took Charlotte’s hand to look at her wrist, “– 8 minutes. I can break your curse for you but it’s not my place to make that decision for you so I’m giving you a choice. We can leave you alone and let your Timer run out or I can use my technique to sever your curse. I wish we got to run into you sooner, that way you could have some actual time to think this through but please make your decision soon.”
For 6 years, 6 long years, all Charlotte has wanted to do was break her curse. It was to the point where everything was secondary to it. The image of all her past suitors flashed through mind. They were all pushy and cruel, wanting her hand in marriage for their own petty reasons but Yami was different. She was given a choice. An honest to goodness choice to have what she wants. There was only one thing for Charlotte to say. “Please do it. Please break my curse.”
Yami nodded and grabbed Charlotte’s hand, trying to hold her wrist at an angle. “Alright, you asked for this. I just need you to hold still while I do this. If I miss, I could cut your hand off.”
That was all the warning she needed to stay still. Yami took a deep breath in through her nose and Charlotte didn’t move a muscle but kept her eyes on the Timer, watching it tick down. 0 years, 0 years, 0 months, 0 weeks, 0 days, 0 hours, 8 minutes, and 21 seconds remaining. Yami took her other hand, the one that wasn’t keeping Charlotte’s wrist stable, and sliced downwards.
As Yami’s fingertips passed down past her Timer, the black fog was severed in two. It was gone. It was gone and she was free now. The darkness that has consumed her life was lifted just like that. She could almost cry at the sight of it. 74 years, 0 months, 6 weeks, 2 days, 11 hours, 6 minutes, and 44 seconds remaining.
All Charlotte could muster out in this moment was “I’m free.” For the first time in a long time, she was free. No more greedy suitors. No more late night panics. Just this now. Her own life ahead of her.
Yami stood up and brushed herself off. “If that’s all, we’ll be taking our leave.”
Vanessa took her hand off Charlotte’s shoulder and she almost wanted to call her back to feel her touch again. “Yeah, we should probably go. It’s nice meeting you.”
Seeing them both stand up and leave made her feel wrong.
Charlotte looked back at her Timer again. Now that the immediate relief of her curse getting broken was gone, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of bitterness towards her Timer now. She was able to extend her life once but there’ll be a day when she’ll watch it tick down again. Waiting for the moment death would take her, only she wouldn’t have two wonderful strangers come to help her. The more she thought about it, the more she came to hate her Timer. She was tired of letting a stupid magic clock dictate her life. She didn't even care if she lived to be 91 anymore. This was her life, there shouldn't be anyone or anything that tells her what to do with anymore.
“Before you go,” Charlotte pointed to her Timer. “Can you please cut my Timer like you did with yours?”
Vanessa put a hand on Yami’s shoulder and Yami looked down at Charlotte’s Timer. “Are you sure you want to? Don’t you want to sleep on this at least? I can’t put this back later and you have a really long life ahead of you.”
“I’ve made up my mind.” She raised her wrist up to Yami and said, "please. Cut it."
“If you're that certain, who am I to stop you?” Yami grabbed Charlotte's hand and just like last time, she took a deep breath in through her nose and once more sliced through the Timer.
Charlotte didn't know what to expect when her Timer was severed but a cold flash on her wrist wasn't one of them. It only lasted a few seconds before her skin went back to its normal temperature again. She looked at the remnants of her Timer and it was just like Vanessa and Yami's Timers, completely shattered and didn't even show time anymore.
The first thing she saw was a flash of the word "pistacchio" then it changed to a picture of a candle then it flashed the word "stenographer." It seems like it would keep doing this for the rest of her life, a life she didn't know how long would be anymore, and she felt light. Almost as if she could walk on air. This was the right decision for her and she wouldn’t regret it.
That wasn't enough for her, though. There was another fate that deserved to be in her hands. "You also said you could cut soulmates. Can you sever the link to mine?”
“Goodness, me,” Vanessa said. “You must really hate fate to want to sever all your bonds like this.”
No one’s ever said it that bluntly before but Vanessa was right. Charlotte did hate hate. Maybe that’s why she looked at her Timer all those years ago, maybe it was because she hated the idea of other people telling her not to look that she had to. Maybe the reason why she wasn’t filled with an urge to run back to her manor is because she didn’t want to live a life that was just handed to her. “I do. This is my life. I want to live it how I please.”
For a moment, Charlotte saw the expression on Ichika’s face soften before going back to her usual stoic expression. “Passion like that is what I think the human spirit is made of. I’ll cut the ties to your soulmate.”
Once more, for the last time that night. Yami held Charlotte’s wrist, took a breath, then sliced downwards. Unlike her Timer, she didn’t feel anything when her soulmate was cut from her. Just a cut and that was that.
There was nothing else to cut now so Yami let go of her and once again Charlotte felt that urge to ask for something else. Just to feel the warm touch of another person who cared about her in some capacity.
They all stood in relative silence until Yami said something first. “Well, if that is all, I think we should take our leave. We still have the rest of the world to see.”
Now that Charlotte had caught her breath and the initial state of disorder had been dealt with, she could actually think through this situation and why the hell are these two randomly in a forest at about midnight? “What do you mean by that?”
Vanessa answered. “We’re decided to live the nomadic lifestyle and travel the world to see as much as possible before we die.” What a wonderful life they must live. Probably in true freedom. A life that honestly sounded appealing to her but it would probably be overstepping if she were to ask them to break her curse, Timer, soulmate bound, and to join them all in one night.
Instead, she just opted to respond to Vanessa. “That sounds great. I’m happy for you.”
They all said their goodbyes and Vanessa said one last thing before leaving. “It was nice to meet you, Charlotte Roselei.”
Charlotte didn’t fight the smile on her face. She would never forget these two. Hopefully, they could meet again and next time, she would join them.
Also guess who randomly got the headcanon that Ichika has night blindness while writing this. Anyway, since I'm right, she does have nightblindness.
Dating had never been a priority. It wasn't even a concern.
When you're a magic knight, you're more focused on your job. It takes up your days, your nights, and your everything. Especially if you're aiming to be a captain one day. Even more when you are.
So, Charlotte hadn't had time for romance.
