Veronica Botello is twenty and looks like she’s happy, but that’s only when her stomach’s completely empty. She can thank her Bulimia Nervosa for that. She was admitted on July 8, 2015.
The third of eight children, Veronica was the first born daughter out of five. She grew up in a fairly open kind of house. Perhaps a bit too open. Her and her siblings were exposed to sex and nudity at a very early age, and this left a lasting effect on all of them. Her parents were very bohemian, and had a very open relationship. The Botello children grew up thinking this was the norm, and once they started school, it began causing a lot of trouble.
Aside from educating too many fellow children too early, Veronica was a fairly normal child. Of course, her home life was always full of nudity and exposure and the likes, but it wasn’t until she was thirteen that anything started to go majorly dysfunctional. She walked in on one of her father’s models making herself sick, and for a year or two, it was constantly on her mind. At fifteen, she became obsessed with the topic of eating disorders, even going so far as to do a whole project about it. She requested a guest speaker to come in and talk about the dangers of eating disorders that year, but unfortunately, the talk she and her classmates received only fueled her unhealthy interest. Her obsession didn’t really progress into any actual illness for another three years, when her younger sister began to berate her for being fat and ugly. The abuse was all born out of jealousy, as Veronica was due to move to New York for college, but it led her to indulge in her dark interests.
The day before she was due to leave, her eldest brother caught her making herself sick, and from there, it was only a matter of time before she was sped off to Lakeside.
Exuberant, but still cautious. Due to her obsessive nature, Veronica clings to her disorder and is almost proud of it. She’s childish, and struggles with facing up to things she does wrong, but hates to be told what to do, so she often has to force herself to compromise, as much as it pains her.
