[ ☣ ]– Legs pumping, heart thundering, and lungs burning. Max flew across the sands, washed in a the blue light of evening. This hadn’t been his first escape, he had attempted to flee the War Boys but there were too many of them. His new captors were fewer in number and hasn’t realized he was gone. Well, until now.
The sound of a small engine caught his attention and a motorcycle roared up alongside of him. Max dropped to his knees and rolled right before he hopped up again and changed directions. Running out into the open desert was foolish, he would have to find someplace with shelter, a place for him to jam himself into. A cave was ideal.
Max had been brought up into the red mountains and held captive. He heard of their plans. This group of mountain dwellers planned on turning him into a slave. Make his mine into the mountain, in search of water. A death sentence really.
So now Max threw himself further down the mountain, his eyes searching for a place to hide. Please, please. Max prayed as he frantically began to jam his body into crevices, hoping to break into a larger cavern on the other side. But to no avail, now he just hoped that whoever was after him wouldn’t see him, crouching between two jagged rocks. If they did, he’d be doomed for sure.
Eyes plagued with the sand that danced across the forefront of
the sunset, Ida’s lungs were surely full of that same sand that
cast itself across this land. It had been long since converse
had been held between Ida and another being. Long following
foul play upon her sisters and brothers, failure to salvage the
ones she loved from the pain the foreign clan brought on,
relations with another being was not an option. Instead, her
only friend was retribution to avenge her brothers and sisters.
Footsteps dogged in the loose ground, as Ida swayed from her
underground refuge. She had traveled for many days, but now
found grottos for her bike and her. Rest, mild breaths, and a
fire were conditions Ida no longer took for granted.
death to all, we reached our insanity...
Engines with familiarity, a ticking and rumble that shook Ida to
the core, and immediately, she was on her toes. Pulling from
her thigh, the pistol full of bullets, and next, the crossbow
attached to her rear surely, she was no match, but defend
herself she would. Sand evaded the beginning of her cave, and
Ida hastened to the corner, pistol broad across her front in order
to barrage any intruder. Step by step, Ida was cautious; she had
her practice in fighting, for many years before the apocalypse.
Turn of the corner, and the tip of her bow had reached the neck
of a man, dirty and chained. Furrowed brows taunted the sheer
confusion, as Ida grasped the ragged shirt that lain his waist,
yanking him into the cave. If anything, she desired the clan to
pass without knowledge of one missing.
Within a moment, Ida’s bow was taunt, her finger ready to pull the
trigger in order to end the man’s life as she had tried her best to
restrain him to the wall.
