    “no, my kind is nothin’ but evil.” he could have easily told her what he was,      but he had just met her and he’s supposed to not tell people what he is, at      least that’s what his mother had always told him. “there are things that i do      ‘cause it’s my job, and it deems me as evil, i guess.” he didn’t view himself      as evil, only because he tried not to think of himself that way, when really, he      is evil and he knows that. he’s a bloodthirsty dog, nothing good about that.      “i think ‘m slowly tryin’ t’let go, though i know that there’s goin’ t’be a part      of me that doesn’t.”

      eva in all her stubbornness refused to believe that someone as kind as him could be       evil. she saw nothing but a kind heart. maybe that a little naive of her. but it hadn’t       changed her mind. “i don’t believe that.” she understood having a job to do, though       the details were something she could never have guessed. “maybe to some people,       but do you have a choice? not that i’m making excuses, but you don’t strike me as       evil or irredeemable.” she got that, oh, more than anything else she got that. “you       never do when it’s someone you love.”

     devon let out a small chuckle, eyes narrowing slightly. he wasn’t going to let that        pass without an explanation. there was something about her that made him wonder        what she is, though he might have a clue what, but he just wanted to make sure first.        “why don’t we see if i believe you or not? ‘m sure i will, y’never know unless y’just        try t’explain it t’me.”

        there was always the possibility that her power would get out of         control again, but it wasn’t going to happen from her lighting a         damn candle. but telling people that you were a witch never really         worked out well. “i’m a witch.” the words just fell out of her mouth,         eva had decided that perhaps being blunt was best. “clearly not         a good one if i can’t keep it a secret.” she hid the fact that she         had died once. he didn’t need to hear that.
