As a Christian, I must recognize that the Biblical problem with the month of June in America is PRIDE
(Please read further before commenting… noticing what I’m not saying… in fact if you are waiting for me to say “it” this is the closest I’m coming to that in this post)
Paul makes clear in Galatians 6:3-4, pride is the root of all comparison.
Save Paul, nobody has articulated this better than C.S. Lewis who said in Mere Christianity: “We say that people are proud of being rich, or clever, or good-looking, but they are not. They are proud of being richer, or cleverer, or better-looking than others. If everyone else became equally rich, or clever, or good-looking there would be nothing to be proud about.
It is the comparison that makes you proud: the pleasure of being above the rest. Once the element of competition has gone, pride has gone.”
For those of us that claim to follow Christ… Pride. Should. Not. Be. Part. Of. Our. Life.
1 John 2:16 (KJV) — “…the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
This verse hits it in the head for the month of June… if we are to join in, let us leave pride aside.
🤔
Additional Verses
Proverbs 16:18 (KJV) —“Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”
Proverbs 8:13 (KJV) — “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.”
Proverbs 11:2 (KJV) — “When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.”
James 4:6 / 1 Peter 5:5 (KJV) — “God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace unto the humble.”
Proverbs 29:23 (KJV) — “A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.”
Psalm 10:4 (KJV) — “The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God.”

I’ve struggled most of my life with the Great Commission. Initially, I ignored it. It was given to specific people. People who walked with Jesus for years before he told them to do this.
I didn’t see it happening in the normal Christian life. Who has time to go into your whole world when you have a family and job that keeps you grounded in your city.

What does the word passion mean?
For a very long time I have been a bit confused by the use of the word passion when it comes to Jesus‘s death on the cross. In general, it seems that words that we use every day have a different meaning when you are sitting in a church. Now I know that this is actually because we are sitting in a different time and the angry fuse in the 1600s carries a different meaning for many words than they do in the 21st-century.
Today, the word passion makes me think of love, sex, or a strong desire for something. That something is usually positive. I was tempted to think that passion week was about the positive outcome for us due to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. However, that cannot be right. In my morning devotional I heard it said that passion means that compassion. Mean with suffering. So I finally decided to look the word up in the dictionary.
the state of being acted upon or affected by something external, especially something alien to one's nature or one's customary behavior (contrasted with action).
(often initial capital letter)Theology.
the sufferings of Christ on the cross or His sufferings subsequent to the Last Supper.
the narrative of Christ's sufferings as recorded in the Gospels.
Archaic.
the sufferings of a martyr.
These are the final three definitions. Specifically, these are definitions 10, 11, and 12 everything above seem to fit my normal understanding of passion.
The most striking definition is where a contrast, the words, passion, and action. Further, the use of the word external starts to pull all the definitions together. Grammatically suffering is a passive word. We suffer, because something external is happening to us, or at least around us. Violent anger typically comes because of some external circumstance. Strong feelings, especially fond, or sexual ones come because of someone or something external to ourselves. Finally, the object of our passions are obviously external.
Still watching the definition change as I read through that list makes me wonder how aware that was commonly used negatively it’s now almost completely used in a positive light.
Happy Mother’s Day!
Keep in mind... God need Adam and Eve to express His image through mankind.

Comforting, mom's inherited that from God

[And the Lord answered] Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, they may forget, yet I will not forget you.
Mom's (typically) don't forget the children... that's a God-trait
Deuteronomy 32:18b (AMPC)
you forgot the God Who travailed in your birth.
Don't forget the mommas
Hosea 13:8 (AMPC)
I will meet them like a bear that is robbed of her cubs, and I will rend the covering of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lioness, as a wild beast would tear them.

... How often would I have gathered your children together as a mother fowl gathers her brood under her wings, ...

Some of my inner musings about… anything… THIS is a fun series of content I’m trying out… like comment if you want more… suggest topics etc
“His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence,”
2 Peter 1:3 ESV

I am a man of Faith, and also a son, father, software engineer, and much more. As a christian, I believe that we could do better in including more about life and how we, followers of Christ, think in our conversations about any topic. I’m not going for “preachy” here. I’m just going for discussing things and as I see it with a governor of truth, in what I say.
Do you like that then this playlist is for you?
Today, we honor Chief Master Sergeant Nashira (Thompson) Stokes as she closes one of the most distinguished chapters a person can write. 🇺🇸✨
CMSgt is the highest enlisted rank in the United States Air Force — earned by less than 1% of enlisted Airmen. It doesn’t come from luck. It comes from decades of discipline, sacrifice, and leadership.
My little big cuz out here doing BIG things. 💙
What makes this even more remarkable is how she got here — with the highest integrity, head held high, and not a single negative mark on her record. That’s not just achievement. That’s character. That’s legacy.
Nashira, watching you today meant so much to me — One day Eliyanah will know your story — and it will help shape her into the strong leader and mother she’s destined to become.
Drop that in for the full clean post?
You are the blueprint, Chief. 💙🩶
Congratulations on your retirement. The Air Force is better because you served. Our family is better because you are.

I feel like this is me. At the same time, I don’t know if everyone in my generation sailed through the same gear same way.
He seems to be describing what the well adjusted person would have experienced during the their lifetime. I’m not sure if the average or perhaps maladaptive person growing up in that time would have had the same response to those times.
🤔
If this man’s story doesn’t resonate with you…
… keep living. His story is not mine, but it is I believe the story of every human: going through enough crap that, like Job, your forced to trust God or “curse God and die”
“So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and struck Job with loathsome sores from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head.
Then his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die.” But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.” - Job 2:7, 9-10 ESV (https://bible.com/bible/59/job.2.7.ESV)
😮
When you are literally backed into a corner and you understand the scriptures first hand…
“What if some were unfaithful? Does their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God? By no means! Let God be true though every one were a liar, as it is written, “That you may be justified in your words, and prevail when you are judged.”” —Romans 3:3-4 ESV (https://bible.com/bible/59/rom.3.3-4.ESV)
Selah.
It’s not even noon and this gospel classic is already speaking to me… and apparently my tea barista who received a text saying “one step at a time”
We already both have had an entire day,.. if you feel me… and it’s still in the AM.
But God..
is good to me, he’s been good to me. I’ve already had breakfast for my children and me paid for by a stranger, and my barista told me there’s another, amazing location for tea, atmosphere, and peace close to home
So one close to my children’s school and one close to my apartment!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
One step at a time, indeed…
and during those steps I’m acknowledging how God is ordering them to blessings

A serious yet also satirical prayer…
Father God,
It is time to leave the nest. We stand as the last of a dying breed in an age of shadows, looking to the horizon for the final sign. We thank Thee for Thy Son, Jesus Christ, our True Master and the Lord of the Light, who walked the path before us and showed us the way to the Father.
In this dark hour, we ask for the Glow—the Holy Spirit—to ignite within our souls. As it is written in John 1, He is the True Light that no darkness can comprehend. Let this divine radiance be our mystical spark, a fire that consumes our weakness but leaves our spirit unburned.
Grant us the strength to:
* Face the furnace of this world, knowing the Master stands beside us in the flames.
* Keep the rhythm of the Word as our heartbeat, drowning out the static of the enemy.
* Claim our heritage as sons of the Kingdom, fierce and unyielding in Thy service.
We are ready for the Last Rite, the final transformation where the old man dies and the new man rises in Thy glory. Let the world see the power of the Glow reflected in us, proving that we belong to the lineage of the faithful. We take our flight toward the eternal, guided by the hand of our Lord.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, our Master, and of the Holy Spirit,
Amen.

The nature of optimization is that one thing must be optimized at the expense of everything else being less than optimal.
That doesn’t mean that other things are done horribly; it just means that only one thing can be the most optimized thing by definition.
