Day 2: Family
Cas has a large family, extended to many members on both sides, but after he start shifting, his visits had started being more and more restricted, but if they didn’t want to be there for him when he needed them, he was fine with them leaving his life.
Day 1: Childhood
Casimir grew up in a tiny town, Alma, right outside of Buffalo, New York. His family sat in the upper middle class bracket and his life was comfortable to say the least. He never went without, yet he was no spoiled. When he wanted something, his parents still made him work for it. After he started shifting, his parents became increasingly wary of him, but his aunt stepped in, making sure that he had a mentor and he had the support to know he wasn’t a freak, just something other than human. His mentor and aunt were his parents come high school, and he was fine with that. He moved to his aunt’s house in the city where he really began to flourish.
“Oh hi, it’s nice to officially meet you! I’m Felicity, I basically make sure everything’s running smoothly here. Are you getting settled in alright?”
“I’ve seen your name all over the paperwork so I thought I’d finally put a face to the name, and that face did not disappoint.” He smiled up at her. “I am, thank you. It’s hard not to get settled in in such an amazing place.”
“Oh just telling me stories about some of your first shifts.”
“I’m sure you heard about the one where I flew head first into a telephone pole? That one’s his favorite to tell.”
“Thank you. I don’t know how much of the gym I will see- except maybe- Jonas was telling me about something you do there- there’s a yoga class? What is Yoga?”
“Yeah, yoga! Of course! It’s a low impact exercise that’s about holding poses for a period of time, stregthing your body through just the weight of your body and it helps balance, flexibility, just about every part of your body and your mind as well as it uses meditation. You can come one of the group classes that there’s a schedule posted or if your hesitant to start with a group, we can schedule one on one classes, whatever’s more comfortable for you.”
“Do you want to come and swim with me and George, my dinosaur friend?” Justin asked, grinning brightly, wading through the pool in the shallow end.
Cas laughed at the dinosaur, that being the cutest thing he’s seen all day, “Of course!” Cas was standing at the deep end before he dove into the water then swimming over to the other man.
“If you see Colton down there tell him this security system is shit and it would take a thirteen year old ten minutes and a red bull to break into it… I’ll be reprogramming for days.”
“I will do. Do you want a red bull? Vodka? Anything while I’m done there? You look like you could stand something.”
“Maybe… I hope so. Everyone else has others who are like them, I’m the only one of my kind. You work in the gym right?”
“You’ll find a family of your own, I wouldn’t worry about that. I do. Head of the gym and head personal trainer, so come by if you ever want a personal workout routine set up.”
“Well you came highly recommended from your mentor who by the way loves to talk.”
“Oh no, what has he said this time?”
“So you’re my eight o’clock?”
“Is there anything I can help you with or anywhere I can direct you to around here?”
“No, I just wanted to introduce myself in person. I’m Casimir, down in the gym.”
“Thank you for being here. I’m happy to announce the doors to Drummond’s End are now open.”
“Thank you for having me, I’m happy to be here.”
“Nej I don’t think I’ll be going downstairs. I’m making sure our tech is all up to date.”
“Well, you have fun up here, holler if you need anything.”
“There’s more people here than I thought… What if they don’t like me?”
“I wouldn’t worry. You’ll fit in.”
