a salient point! this exact thing happened, funnily enough, around this time last year. the most prominent ban was rita predstrogen and the following meltdown from good ol' matt, but if memory serves, a fair few other trans women got their accounts wiped at the same time, and more in the aftermath. seems as though every so often, staff decides there's too many trannies with followings on here.

one of the more interesting things to come out of that whole matt meltdown was the accidental and casual admission that tumblr had, on staff, someone who was taking bounties to ban transfeminine users in the past. they were fired, eventually. this was presented as a victory, but to me it raises more questions- like, for example, would they have been fired if they were just banning trannies without taking bribes?

A company culture that allows such a thing to be possible shows how they see their transfem users. Not as people and not even being worth keeping as a user base. They admitted to having TERFs that disproportionately targeted trans women on the staff team. Many of them being open transmisogynists.

Tumblr does not care about their transfem user base and never will. The same way that they showed that they do not care about their black and arab user base for over a decade now.

This is embarrassing & frustrating but I need to ask for help again. I cannot emphasize enough that I am doing my best to find work and tapping all resources available to me, and I turn to help here out of desperation. It took me over a year to escape living with my abusive family and I am terrified of opening the can of worms of requesting their help—there is always a cost—or having to live with them again. Long story short, I’m struggling to find another job. I have help with rent and food but my other bills are getting out of hand and I don’t qualify for help with them. It’s been scary how just a month of out of work has set me back, and this help would be stop gap, but if would keep me stabilized in the hopes I can make some kind of progress in March.

I am asking for help with my car insurance ($130), energy/utilities ($100), internet ($36), phone bill ($60), and money for toiletries/sanitary items/gas ($60). So my base goal is $386. I usually close personal fundraising posts once I hit my goals, but I would put any possible extra in savings in case things don’t look up.
