I’d like to add this photo I took last night in Victoria of the statue of Captain Cook. Though I myself am not indigenous, I 100% agree that these murderers, kidnappers and rapists shouldn’t have huge statues and plaques that decorate them and say how “great” they were.

I had seen the first picture of the church, but not the second.

I went to a “Cancel Canada Day” event and burst into tears - not because I was surprised to learn of the unmarked graves (survivors told us they were there. Our government pushed it aside, and we let them), but because seeing all the people gathered in mourning drove it home: They. Were. Children.

This is my country’s legacy - and it’s not history. The last schools closed during my lifetime. My Father went to school with students who lived at the local residential school, after it was changed to a boarding house (read: holding centre) for indigenous youth who went to local schools.

They were all children, injured, abused, and killed in my country’s attempt to erase them. I want the world to see this and hold the state accountable to *active* reconciliation> I mean we could at least truly adopt UNDRIP in action instead of words for god’s sake.

anyway yesterday me and my friend tried making miku music, and then did not succeed as it requires more knowledge on how the program functions than either of us had or could build with common sense, so we ended up listening to some miku songs (reminder that hole dweller is peak (and CoaRG even though it's unhinged (and magical love cure shot (yk with the miku miku beam (that part still fails to render for me considering the rest of the song being all (oh never mind i just like actually read the lyrics i didn't actually get what was going on nvm miku beam makes perfect sense))))) and played plate up. 'twas a good time. reminded me that hanging out with people is nice. except also when it isn't which is somehow always. its a bittersweet sort of thing, yk, putting in effort to plan to hang out and doing something and you go and do it together and vibe and then its over, and you're alone again. and you stay that way, alone, until you once again remember that its your duty (not your friend's) to do the reaching out, the planning, the wanting to spend time with each other, or in other words the effort. you are reminded that you are the atlas of your relationships, the Sisyphus rolling his boulder towards importance in other peoples lives, only to have it and himself rolled down and out of the hills of the mind. there is a reason i claim to have no friends, despite the fact many would call me one- for that is what i am, their friend. there is no two sidedness in a friendship involving me, 'tis only myself and the person who claims me.
