He struggled in his grip. “All I heard were words! Lots and lots of words!” His eyes streamed with pain and suffering. “My parents will hate me, they’ll blame me! Oh god, they don’t even know about us yet…”

There was no time for tears to well in Chip’s eyes. More than anything, he wanted to take away all the pain and suffering that Rafael was going though. “What happened happened. No, they won’t blame you. Would you rather stay in this desolate and forsaken island for eternity?” He didn’t realize how tightly he was gripping Rafael’s wrists.

"Yes! I would Chip! Thanks for asking." He looked away with red eyes but couldn't move since he was trapped in his grip. "I'll send word that I died with them and lead a new life."

Rafael slapped Chip again, not having really listened to him. He raised his hand to do it again, but there was a moment of resistance. Perhaps Chip could stop him.

Once more, he was struck, so both of his cheeks were red. “Enough!” He gripped both of Rafael’s hands and glared at him. “Did you even hear me?”

“They just died Chip.” Rafael slapped the footman in an act of rage and passion. His misty eyes realizing the mistake he had made instantly. “Oh god.” He took a step back and examined his hand in horror. Chip, I—” more tears welled up. “I’m sorry I struck you, but I can’t be expected to get over their deaths with such haste!”

Before he knew it, he was struck and then rubbed his cheek for it stung. How could Rafael do such a thing? The confusion showed in his eyes and then he nodded. Once again, he wrapped his arms around his love, not even daring to let go, “I understand. I’m not telling you to get over it, but sometimes, letting go of the pain can do wonders. Please Rafael, I beg of you to go. There is nothing left for us here!”
