I want to give a general statement here. Unless I specifically say otherwise, you have blanket permission to create derivative work of just about any kind based on my fanworks or ideation of fanworks. This also means any AUs I make or the like are absolutely free to use.

If you do make something directly based on something of mine, I would appreciate if you shout me out and/or link to whatever it was that I made that inspired it.

I'd also like it if you let me know! mention @beatrixcandy or @beacandy, or send me a message/ask, or otherwise notify me if it is on a different platform I use!

Those stipulations are for direct inspiration. If it's more that my creation gives you your own idea (i.e. because I wrote a backstory for Anti-Mabel you write your own backstory for Anti-Dipper, or my idea for Geordo/Keith fake dating makes you want to write Nicol/Keith fake dating) then it's completely up to you whether you shout me out or let me know or not.

If you want to talk to me about your idea or get more information about my concept, feel free to message me or ask. I won't be bothered by it, even if it's a post from years ago.

I understand I don't have ownership of the ideas behind what I make so I can't necessarily enforce this, but I would ask that you not use an LLM or other generative AI tool to create anything based on my ideas.

Other than that, I have no boundaries about the type of content you make based on my idea. If it's about a topic that makes me uncomfortable, I may not interact with your creation, but as long as I don't directly message you that I'm unhappy, you can assume it's fine.

However, while all of this is true for fanworks, I would ask that you not write stories about my fandomless OCs. These are Kayla, Amanda, Sasha, and Solalumen (And Samantha, I guess, but I don't like her 💔), a group of characters I have written a few stories about. I can't imagine anyone would want to make a story about them seeing as the amount of info about them that I've posted online is minimal, but I don't want to leave ambiguity about this. Maybe I'll change my mind about this at some point, but for now that's my feeling.

ok lets take a break from writing about cringe (affectionate) bad time route and go back to something an anon asked. spamton and tenna's first meeting!

When Spamton first comes to Waterfall, he becomes acquaintances, of a sort, with Napstablook. Honestly, it's less that and more that he tries to ingratiate himself with Waterfall's biggest pushover, and Napstablook isn't too bothered by his behavior, so they get along alright.

One day, when Spamton is talking about his efforts scavenging the trash in Waterfall, and how so many places are already picked pretty clean, Napstablook mentions that there's an area they know that hasn't been touched in some time, if at all. They lead Spamton through a series of holes in the echo flower foliage that most monsters would not notice, let alone fit through. Fortunately, Spamton is small enough to get through to the other side, where there's a pool that reflects the ceiling stars just so, lighting up the area.

Spamton asks how Napstablook found this place, noting that he wouldn't think the bright and shiny place would be their style. Napstablook is silent for a moment and abruptly disappears without answering. Spamton shrugs it off and looks around, seeing that, true to their word, the trash around here seems to have been untouched for at least decades. He finds all sorts of things, including the most impressive pull, a whole-ass CRT TV.

Sure, the screen is cracked too badly to re-sell, and replacing a screen on one of those TVs is not exactly doable, but the components under the hood could fetch a pretty penny. He takes the back off of the TV to inspect, and when he tries to pull the wires free, they seem to be stuck on something under the base of the TV. He uncovers more in the pile, finding old and tattered pieces of cloth on some sort of large structure that the wires appear to run into. It's when he uncovers an arm that he realizes he is dealing with an actual monster.

He takes a moment to think hard about it, then reluctantly concludes that he's not willing to scavenge a monster for parts to sell. And since they doesn't seem to be falling to dust even when their head was taken apart, Spamton thinks hard again before deciding he might as well take another look inside the head. He sees one of the wires seems to have been knocked loose, and he reconnects it. As he does, a lot of noise emerges from the CRT head and the arm he uncovered uses a hand to grab him.

"Hey Mamma- What the- Who the- ...R-r-r-rat! Eek!"

...Spamton immediately regrets his uncharacteristic decision to do the right thing for once. He tries to explain, but the monster just keeps yelling in a panic, gripping him tight like a squeaky toy. After a few minutes of this, Spamton gets fed up and decides that, if he's a rat anyway, he might as well bite the hand that's holding him. He does, the monster pulls away, and Spamton quickly slams the back of the TV head back in its place, hopping off of the pile while his patient-turned-attacker is stunned. He grabs a few of the other items he'd gotten from the trash and makes his way to the hole he came in from. He mutters, as he leaves,

"GOOD LUCK WITH ALL THAT, [Trash heap],"

leaving the monster alone.

ut spamtenna special bad time route pt 2

continuing on

All is the same as normal as you continue on the route. Muffet has a single extra line about a strange old man who tried to lead some of her younger spiders away back near the entrance to Hotland. After killing Muffet, the player must double back through Hotland to one of the jumping vents puzzles. One of the directions leads to a corner where Tenna is lifting Monster Kid, pointing them offscreen.

*Yo, lemme go! I've gotta go back and stop that human! Undyne-

*I-I-I know, kid, but look at the little kids over there. They need a ~champ~ like you who can help them through the tunnels, right?

*Oh. I mean, I guess I don't want the really little kids to get lost...

*Thanks, ~kiddo.~

He reaches offscreen, apparently putting them on a platform out of reach. Tenna sighs a 'phew' and says to himself that he'd better get back home ASAP, or Spammy will blow a fuse. He turns around and sees the human.

*N-n-no wait-

And a fight is initiated.

He has a blank face besides the cracks forming his nose and does not speak. If you CHECK, the description says "*Show's over." Sparing or flubbing the attack just stalls the fight. All you can do is hit him. When you do, you reduce his health bar by about half and slice off one of his arms. When you do so, he defies the typical conventions and jumps away in the direction of the offscreen area, leaving behind his arm and ending the battle prematurely.

The potential source of EXP got away, unfortunately, but there's a silver lining. Or rather, gold. The human is able to get a look at the dropped arm and obtain a ring from the finger. You can put it on if you like, but it has no stats, so it is definitely a downgrade. Then, more backtracking, you must go all the way back to the BIG SHOP with it.

Spamton will greet you as usual.

*WELCOME WELCOME TO THE [shop at the end of ]

If you are wearing the ring, his face will fall.

*why are you wearing that

If it is in your inventory, you can instead choose the sell option and select the ring.

Either way, after reacting with wide eyes and ellipses he will burst into crazed laughter. He will offer to fill your inventory with "[half-price salami]" (an exclusive item with decent healing) for no gold cost in return for the ring, but whether you say yes or no he won't react any further. Either way, you are now on the route. Keep in mind that this is your last chance to enter the BIG SHOP, so be sure to exhaust any dialogue and buy all desired items before leaving.

Once you've done this, just resume the bad time route through Hotland. There won't be any deviation from the norm until you get to the Mettaton NEO fight. If you fail to meet the conditions for the route, you will not come across the Secret Boss and will instead fight Mettaton NEO, who says humanity will survive as normal.

If, on the other hand, you do stay on the route, you will come across Mettaton. He will start his spiel, but halfway through, before he can transform he will be interrupted by a white circle projectile. which knocks him offscreen with an '-OH!' There's a laugh.

*Thank you for the assistance, [HUNK OF JUNK]. But perhaps it would be best to leave this fight to the [BIG SHOTS].

The thing that comes out... resembles Spamton somewhat. It has his face, at least. And yet, it is different. It has wings like the angel of the Deltarune, and it has multiple cannon-like arms. It is big, taking up a large part of the screen. And as it laughs and initiates the battle, you can see the six human souls and/or heart-shaped objects appear as well.

The secret boss of the Bad Time Route is Omega Spamton.

I love your ut spamtenna au!!! do you have any thoughts on how a player interaction would go on a good route? or anymore about how spamton and tenna met? what were their first impressions of each other?

Thank u.... youre so sweet...... I think I wrote too much, so I'm going to just make this post about the non-bad-time encounter and save talk about their first meeting with each other for another post.

If the player is on a pacifist or neutral route, while you are in Waterfall Spamton and Tenna emerge from one of the trash heaps, with Spamton holding a video game controller and Tenna holding an old teddy bear. The two bicker with each other about who has the better find this time when suddenly they realize there's someone watching them. Spamton defensively yells that the two of them have a right to their findings, but Tenna seems a little more surprised and stutters out the word human.

The battle starts as a bit of a bait-and-switch, with them dramatically talking about how all of monsterkind's problems would be solved if the human was taken down...

...which is why any human with common sense [needs Needs NEEDS] the fabulous protection of the items offered at the BIG SHOP! The two of them throw attacks and talk up the danger ahead for a few turns before asking if the human will become a happy customer among many others, offering a choice of DEAL or NO DEAL where DEAL is the only answer that ends the fight. Overall, the fight starts with one cheap shot but is otherwise intended to be on the easy side, and if the human gets hurt, Spamton tells you to [Press F1 for help] as many times as you want, becoming indignant if the player uses a healing item instead. (In the ending screen of the battle, Spamton will charge a fee for each time he provided healing).

(If the player attacks during the fight, Tenna assumes that the pitch was 'too scary' and scolds Spamton for frightening a child who is clearly too sensitive for that kind of a show, instantly making them both sparable. If they attack Tenna, he has his guard down and dies in one hit. Spamton flees the encounter and locks himself in the BIG SHOP. If they attack Spamton, it depletes over half of his health and he tries to bribe the child into cutting it out. Tenna assumes they don't understand how battles work and frantically tells them they're supposed to hit the button on the far right, actually! After another attack, Spamton dies and Tenna stays in the fight with a blank screen, not talking and no longer sparable, attacking in a bit more earnest until the human kills him. Whether or not Spamton dies, if Tenna did, Undyne can mention Tenna's death in her neutral dialogue, but it takes the lowest priority of any character she specifically talks about in that speech)

If you get out of the fight as a pacifist, the two of them will head there to wait for you. You can just walk past the shop, to which Spamton will say "ARE. YOU. [F or real]?!?!" Whether or not you do that, when you enter the shop the two of them will welcome the human with big smiles, offering their goods. I don't have any real inspiration for what they actually offer in the shop, but I think maybe one item is clearly a bootleg version of Nice Cream that they have repackaged and massively overcharge for.

ut spamtenna special bad time route pt 1

same universe as my other stuff for this au but that doesn't matter too much. all very tentative and possibly a bit much, i reserve the right to scrap all of this.

If you are on the Bad Time Route, nobody will come out of the BIG SHOP to confront you. The area will be quiet. You can continue onward, or you can check the door. It is locked, but you can listen in and hear two voices arguing.

Spamton wants to stay put. He knows the rule about shops, how shopkeepers cannot be engaged in combat, and he thinks that rule is the only way for them to stay safe.

Tenna, however, thinks that they should be helping with the evacuation efforts. "And what about Su-"

Spamton insists that she's smart enough to have joined the evacuation on her own. And there's nothing Tenna can do that she can't. The human is verified to have at least 8 LV, and even though Tenna is strong, he doesn't exactly have the intent to pose a threat against something like that.

Tenna insists he wouldn't actually go up against the human. He says he'll just be putting on a show, helping calm the kids down and showing the way to go. And he'll be back in a few hours when he's done what he can.

Spamton realizes that Tenna's talking about going on his own while Spamton stays and shuts down at that realization. If you try to listen to the door again, you will just hear Tenna promising to be safe and saying he loves Spammy, but not getting a reply.

If you leave the area and come back, the shop will no longer be locked and you'll be able to go in. Spamton will turn to the door with a relieved smile, only to see you and for his smile to widen into a forced marionette's grin. You'll be able to shop there as normal, though the atmosphere is completely different without Tenna present as a co-owner.

Spamton will be less friendly and more high-strung, but he will not directly address the actions that put you on this route. Amongst the other items he has for sale, there is one unique to this route, a "commemorative ring". It boasts amazing stats and some sort of additional power, but the price is set as [Ask for a quote!] and, if you do so, Spamton will set the price to all of the gold you have and, if you accept, put it on for you. Once it is on as your armor, if you check your stats, its name will be changed to Thorn Ring and its stats will be +0 because it's a MAGIC item, and as a human, you don't have MAGIC. You won't be able to switch it out for another piece of armor [The Thorns are stuck...] and when you enter battle it will drain your HP to 0 quickly. You are guaranteed to get into an encounter with a moldsmal shortly after you leave the BIG SHOP and before you can possibly save, so when the ring kills you you will reload to your last save before buying the ring, and if you go to the shop and choose the ring again, the human will refuse to buy it.

So far, none of these actions have any impact on whether you are still on the standard Bad Time Route or if you have unlocked the Secret Boss. It's just additional relevant information. If you want to fight the Secret Boss instead of "fighting" Mettaton NEO, more steps must be taken.

Tenna's TV Time was a variety show that takes bits of inspiration primarily from the PBS Kids shows I grew up with. A bit of the comforting host connecting concepts in Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, a bit of the skits around a topic of Sesame Street, a bit of the recurring segments with their own characters of Between the Lions. Also probably some of the calls for viewer participation more present in other kid's shows like Dora the Explorer or Blue's Clues. (From what little I know, Ms. Rachel might be a good pull, but I've never seen it so I don't know for sure)

It was well liked by children, their parents, and adults that were children at heart. Even teenagers tended to have a grudging respect for it. Of all of the fans, the royal family were some of the biggest.

(The human child would roll their eyes and ask to change the channel, and respond snarkily whenever the host asked the audience to chime in, but you could often catch them smiling and tapping their foot at the songs. And the first time Toriel and Asgore got Tenna to perform for Asriel's birthday, the human seemed extremely bashful and awed by his presence)

He put up a performance as someone affable and wholesome, but behind the scenes, Tenna was extremely high-strung and perfectionist, pouring his all into making the perfect show. Even when he started to struggle and suffer, he put up a mask of happiness and became well-known as a bad boss. The cast dwindled and left him even more overworked. He became acquainted with the bottom of a bottle, telling himself it would all be worth it as long as the show stayed whole.

It was when Asriel and the human fell that it all fell apart. Maybe, as things got worse, there was no room in the culture for such an empty optimism. Or maybe, because the performance was so strained and Tenna had no opposing voices to give him perspective, the hollowness of the show meant it couldn't withstand truly bad times. Either way, the ratings went way down and the show became hated. King Asgore even cited it negatively when explaining the necessity of turning from optimism to realism. "Believe me, I would love to simply get along with humans, but we live in the real world. This isn't an episode of TV Time where all conflicts can be resolved within the hour with a hug."

The show was cancelled and buried. The studio burned all of the tapes to make space. And Tenna found that, with all of his obsession, he had driven away his former friends. He was in a bad way to a massive degree, and he dwindled away most of his remaining money on substances. Unable to sustain his life in Hotland, he ended up in the less expensive and more dilapidated Waterfall.

Back then, Waterfall was still a lower class area, but it wasn't quite so full of literal garbage. Due to his lack of money, Tenna was forced to go sober and his mood swung markedly from mania to depression. Maybe he would have managed to make some friends and fully rebuild a life, living his days in that time period before the second human fell. Unfortunately, that time period was when the human's garbage dump grew to such a massive size that it breached the surface and fell into the underground. An unsuspecting Tenna was hit by a certain heap of trash which cracked his screen and powered it off, putting him into a state of long-term unconsciousness - but not death - for centuries. Until one day, a certain garbage-hunting monster was desperate enough to give a cracked CRT in a trash heap a second look and see if it was salvageable.

(By the way, I've seen people come up with various reasons for how Tenna exists when he's apparently technology and not organic like other monsters. Maybe he's a robot possessed by a ghost like Mettaton, or maybe he was made in a lab? I'm gonna go ahead and say, for my version of Tenna, the reason he's got a TV head is the same reason that there can be a Tsunderplane monster. His dust is just shaped like a TV head.

...Actually, I've got a bit of a random species-building notion I'm toying with that lets me give Tenna insectoid traits but also a CRT head because I can do what I want I have the power. Tenna is part of a species of insectoid monsters that are born without heads and get a head when they grow up and realize what they want to do with their lives, sorta like Cutie Marks in My Little Pony. Tenna was born in the underground from an egg that was buried by parents who died during the war. He spent a lot of his time as a child alone, not really understood by his peers and craving attention. It was during a festival arranged by the Royal Family that Tenna got his chance. Queen Toriel asked for a volunteer performer and happened to see Tenna's raised hands (possibly because he had four of them). And, even without words, Tenna put on a clumsy performance combining dance and magic that caused the audience, especially Queen Toriel, to clap, granting him his head. He started to wear a suit and gloves and so on to hide his insectoid traits shortly after.

This childhood backstory has gotten way too long to be an afterthought on this post but who care! I have fun! What it matter!)

Back when Spamton lost his popularity, he developed a plan: Get a heart-shaped object for himself, become BIG, break the barrier, become free, and reach the Angel's Heaven of the surface. In his earliest and most manic days he imagined he would get seven heart-shaped objects, break the barrier, and become the beloved angel of the prophecy. Maybe he would be so beloved he would be able to take the throne from King Asgore.

On his more bitter days, he just wanted one, so he could get through the barrier and have heaven all to himself. His fellow monsters, who would abandon him so easily for shiny new technology, didn't deserve freedom. They deserved to rot with their clueless and indecisive king.

He tried many times to break into the throne room and approach the souls, but each time he was stopped by a member of the guard. Monsters, of course, are too well-natured and trusting, so every time he would claim he just got lost on the way to the bathroom, or he just wanted to hand-deliver some coupons to the king, or something like that, and whatever Knight Knight or other guard stopped him would let him go as soon as they verified that he was a monster and not a human.

Each failure diminished his resolve and his resources, even if it didn't hurt his reputation even worse than it already was. Eventually, he couldn't afford the payments on his house in New Home, so he moved to the less well-off Waterfall. He found a home in the trash zone and a way to scam trusting monsters out of their money by selling them garbage. He had read and learned the techniques of sketchy advertisers, and he repeated those words with his mail-reciting text inserts. It was enough for him to get by day-to-day. He would always tell himself that he would save up his gold and find useful items in the trash heaps until he had enough to plan one more heist to get the heart-shaped object(s).

Of course, then he met Tenna and that plan fell to the wayside.

You Are Filled With Resolution

It wasn't until 8:00 that the Dragon Blazers battle theme started playing on Noelle's cellphone alarm. Typically, waking up that late would be cause for her mother to be concerned, but on New Years Day, it seemed reasonable for her to get a bit of leniency, especially since she'd started staying up until midnight.

She stretched her arms and made her way to her desk across her room, where her cellphone was at its charging station, and she let the song play for just a few more measures before turning off the alarm.

She sat down and opened the left drawer, retrieving the new agenda planner she had bought for this year. This year, she chose a purple one with brown accents.

...For no particular reason.

In any case! She enjoyed the crisp smell of the paper as she opened it. She retrieved her chestnut-scented brown glitter gel pen and put a star next to the day that school would resume. She took the stickers that came with the journal out of their plastic sleeve and marked the days this month that there would be quizzes (gold stars), the days that she would jog (red flowers), the days she would study French (blue exclamation points), and any other important days with stickers that would help her not to forget anything important.

She also took out a few more scented glitter gel pens (green: pine, red: cinnamon, blue: mint, yellow: shortbread) to mark days relating to plans with Catti and visiting Dad and helping at the church and anything else worth noting.

When she'd marked everything that seemed important, she stood in front of her chair and admired her work. The little segments were so full of activity. It would be a good month.

She reached further into the drawer and found her new wall calendar. She smiled briefly when she saw that the first month's picture was of a multicolored Ferris Wheel over a bustling boardwalk. Using the planner as a reference, she filled its squares with a more simplified version of her upcoming plans, something that she could easily glance at and parse every morning as she got out of bed. Unfortunately, her gel pens were a bit too fine and their glitter too light-reflecting for this purpose, so she opted for fiber-tipped multicolor pens instead.

In a few minutes, she had filled the wall calendar as well.

She picked it up and carefully placed it on the wall next to her bed, taking down the calendar from the previous year. She closed that one and bundled it in her arms so she could take it downstairs to put it in the recycling bin. She looked at the place on the wall, now occupied by the promise of a new year.

Her smile faltered.

It probably made her a terrible person.

No, it definitely made her a terrible person.

disorganized notes on my concept of ut spamtenna because i am HYPERFIXATING BEYOND BELIEF

Tenna:

I'm going with the "Tenna was a family-friendly variety TV show host in the underground in the days before Mettaton" variant. The royal family loved the show and even got Tenna to do in-person live performances for the kids' birthday parties a few times. Nowadays, Flowey feels about Tenna the same embarrassed disdain that me and my friends felt about Barney the Dinosaur in the 2nd grade.

Spamton:

Spamton delivered paper mail, mostly letters and official notices. He was well-regarded by most. But when Undernet, phone correspondence, and Email became more common, paper royal notices and letters became less so, leaving Spamton with less work. He started advertising a willingness to distribute more types of messages to the masses, but the only ones who took him up on the offer were those who wanted to send out what we would generally consider junk mail. That became what he was associated with, and that's when his reputation started to go downhill. Lots of monsters got rid of their mailboxes and stopped accepting mail that wasn't hand-delivered by the person who wrote it. Sans and Papyrus are sort of seen as weirdos for still having mailboxes. (I think that's plausible? I think you don't see any mailboxes besides those two, or if you do it's pretty uncommon? If I'm wrong please correct me)

Other Character Relationships:

Based on Gerson's "Undyne-beat-up-the-mailman" aside, I like the idea that Spamton was the mailman in question. It was back when things were just starting to fall apart, so Spamton was very unamused and unwilling to humor her. Nowadays, whenever someone mentions Captain Undyne around him, he brags that he was her first teacher and probably the one who should get the credit for her ascent.

The two of them consider their garbage store a worthy rival to Bratty and Catty's enterprise. Bratty and Catty briefly mention seeing "some weird old guys totally glaring at them" but otherwise have no idea who these losers are.

If asked, Tenna will go on and on about how violent and sensationalist and trashy Mettaton's TV program is, nothing like the quality and appropriate TV of his time. Spamton concurs that Mettaton is style-over-substance and emblematic of everything that is wrong with modern technology. (They both are secretly convinced that the other has a crush on Mettaton and are very insecure about this)

Various Tidbits:

I really like the quirk of Spamton phrasing all of his dialogue in letter format, it makes for good art, but it feels too cumbersome for me to write so, for my fics, instead my concept is that he has verbal inserts like DR Spamton, but they're phrases from mail. Mostly junk mail, but he also occasionally quotes old letters. He does like using letter format whenever he leaves a note for anyone, though.

Spamton exclusively calls human souls "heart-shaped objects." I don't know for complete certain why, but for some reason he doesn't like calling them souls. Maybe it's a fringe religious belief that human souls are fundamentally different than monster souls to the point where the word "soul" is incorrect? It's mostly just a particular quirk of his phrasing.

Back in his earlier days, Spamton did have it in his head that it might be nice to kill a human and get their heart-shaped object, becoming big and relevant. However, around when he met Tenna, he decided it wouldn't be worth it to lose himself. Tenna, with his fond memories of the original fallen human, would never want to kill a human, though he feels conflicted that that pits him against King Asgore's apparent wishes. The two of them do fight the human, but it's very clearly just to keep them hostage while they advertise their store at them.

I also have more stuff written about their encounter with the human, and a particularly out-there concept for the Bad Time route, but I don't think those ideas are developed enough for me to feel good posting them.

Now, when Himemiya belongs to Surya, he orders her something expensive. It’s curious that a diner like this even has foods like champagne scones or mushroom risotto, but he always manages to find them on the menu. She’s more important than he imagined.

Now, when Himemiya belongs to Rise, Rise chooses something appropriate for a girl. An egg white omelette with spinach. Some cucumbers and pita with hummus. The house salad. The last thing she needs is more indulgence.

Now, when Himemiya belongs to Shishio, he says “party of three” before anyone can stop him.

For their regular meetings, the three of them went to the local diner to meet up.

Four of them. Surya, Rise, Shishio, and Himemiya went too. Their first few times, she didn’t even get a seat at their table, though she smiled placidly as she stood at her groom’s side. So they started coming in and saying “party of four.” But then, when their server took their order, curiously Anthy was ignored. So they made a tradition of always ordering four of the same thing.

They wanted her to eat.

Surya would always pay with his credit card. Rich asshole.
