IATSE and their new contracts happened, and this is a VERY GOOD THING. The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers has, under threat of an industry-wide strike by film and TV crew supported by the Screen Actors Guild, the Directors Guild, and the Screen Writers Guild, finally agreed to negotiate better working conditions, longer turn around times to allow crew to rest between shifts, and better pay for material being put on streaming services.

What this tells us is that Marvel was using backbreaking conditions to get their shit made, and these delays are because they've been forced to actually ensure safe and fair working conditions and adequate compensation for the people working on their projects.

When Bella finds out she’s pregnant in BD, she mentions that her last period was 16 days before the wedding (the wedding took place on August 13th 2006) and that at the time of her phonecall with Carlisle (which was 17 days after the wedding) she was 5 days late. She also mentions that her period is never late.

This means that her cycle is 28 days exactly (16+17-5) and that her last period began on July 28th 2006. That was also her last period EVER btw because then she got pregnant and then was immediately changed.

So I counted backwards to every single one of Bella’s periods, from her last one before she changed, to the first one after she moved to Forks. The results:

When she first met Edward at biology class (January 18th 2005)

At the meadow (March 12th) and baseball game (March 13th)

The first time she heard Edward’s voice in NM (January 16th 2006)

The day she realized Jacob is a werewolf (March 11th)

Quite possibly when she jumped off the cliff, depending on how long it lasts for her (March 16th)

When Edward caught Riley’s scent at Bella’s house (June 2nd)

At the Quileute bonfire (June 3rd)

When Jacob went missing in BD (Late June/Early July)

So… yeah that’s what I did today.

I think the hardest part about addressing child abuse is getting people to acknowledge, not just intellectually but actually responding accordingly, is that the biggest threat to children, the biggest risk of abuse, is family and parents.

it is of course most often parents who are crowing about needing to protect children (often against far smaller threats than family), and pointing out that they are, statistically, the biggest threat to their kids is not gonna be received well.

tbh I feel like most of society’s rhetoric around “protecting children” comes from the same place as deep-patriarchy rhetoric on “protecting women”, where the idea is that they’re sacred and valuable but also treated essentially as property, and the the desire to protect them is largely experienced as a desire to ensure that those property rights are sacrosanct

A character with high charisma is one you can’t ignore. They stand up and say “okay” and now everyone in the room is looking at them and paying attention. Maybe it’s because they’re the kind of person who swaggers around in high-waisted pants and a billowy white shirt. Maybe it’s because they’re eight feet tall and carrying an axe. Maybe it’s because they’re unsettling, unnerving, untrustworthy. Whatever gets your attention. Whatever stops you from looking away. Whatever it is about their bearing that makes them take up more space than they physically should.

That’s charisma.

Considering how commonplace the advice of “just LET your children TALK TO YOU about their INTERESTS” is on Tumblr, it’s astonishing to me how few people seem to realize/accept that that’s a two-way street, especially as adults.

I’m not telling you how to relate to parents who were shitty/abusive to you, obviously, but given a relatively healthy relationship or the ATTEMPT to build one as adults, you’ve genuinely got to let your older relatives talk to you in their own way about the things they’re interested in. Yes, sometimes it is painfully boring, yes, sometimes they do it in a slow or round-about manner or tell you way too much, but sometimes it’s boring listening to a twelve year old talk about fortnite. I still do it, because people, adult or child, need and want people to talk to about their interests.

My dad is into the cringiest possible anime. I am halfway to dissociation every time he spends 30-60 minutes walking me through the entire plot of an anime, one episode at a time. One time we had an eight hour car ride and that was the ENTIRE trip and by the end I wanted to DIE. But I still let him do it! Because he needs someone to talk to his passions about, and I care about him and know that being that person for him makes him happy and improves our relationship. Because of that, we spent the SECOND eight hour car ride talking about the history of unions, something I spent 27 years not even knowing my father had an interest in!

Let your parents talk to you about the dumb facebook videos they saw or the funny ancient wine mom memes they like or that time they went to korea and over-reacted to kimchi. Kids aren’t the only ones who just want their family to be interested in what they have to say.

I’ve gotten so fed up with the dick grubbing that passes for feminism these days that I want nothing to do with feminism anymore, yet for some reason I’m still getting asked this. So here’s what I’m going to say about it. This overzealous labeling of women who care about their own as “terfs” and subsequent frenzied blacklisting of them (i.e. don’t talk to X, she is a terf!) is some mindblowing stupidity at levels so irrational I could do little but laugh pretty hard if I were to witness this in real life.

The sole purpose of “terf” accusations is to determine who has male supremacist interests at heart and who doesn’t–that is exactly what it is, nothing more and nothing less. These fuckasses go on about “trans-exclusionary radical feminism” as if the entire foundation of some woman’s politics is about transwomen, excluding them, oppressing them, hating them, whatever; and not about eliminating misogyny…which is based on being of the female sex, but even recognising that fact gets you on the terf list. The genderists' politics are based on pandering to male egos, male delusions, male entitlements, and male privileges. It’s a bizarre cult of male worship that hates women who love themselves enough to put themselves first.

Try an experiment. Paint a dick, write a poem that glorifies the male body, sing the song of (hetero)sexual desire for men. Then paint a vulva to celebrate the female body, write a poem that praises female strength in the face of violence and oppression targeted at the female body, sing a song about lesbian desire for women. See whose body is acceptable to celebrate and whose body gets told is offensive and should be censored. See whose sexuality is respected and whose is vilified. You do that, then tell me with a straight face that genderism isn’t male worship.

So how about you take “terf,” write it on a piece of paper, and shove it so far up your ass it comes out of your mouth? That’s what I think of this stupid as fuck question. Now get off my blog.

i think something that really bugs me in the fandom and fics is the idea Kira just kills any criminal indiscriminately. Light noted during the Yotsuba arc that the new Kira was just killing anyone the moment they were reported, while saying the original would only kill those who were truly evil. like Kira wouldn't kill a man who stole because he was starving, or someone who killed someone for murdering their loved ones in righteous revenge. thoughts on that?

Okay, that’s just one huge bolded word, but my thoughts are: yeah!! People should stop ignoring this, because it is in fact a key element that majorly sets Light apart from the other Kiras who select their own victims. Light is the only one of them who actually looks at mitigating circumstances and takes them into account when dishing out punishment.

*Though the criteria aren’t as you quoted:

Light would still kill someone who committed a revenge murder (he’s the only vigilante here), but he wouldn’t kill people who starved or yeah, accidental killers.

But yeah, I do think this is an important aspect that really sets Light apart from the others. It doesn’t mean his murders are like… better, because there is no such thing as Good Murders™, but it is a relevant character nuance. Light does make the attempt at being just, here’s taking his bullshit very seriously.
