Cold heart, hot temper or something hidden? || Eva&Hade
hadrianmordecai:
Eva was cool, calm and stoic facade as she kicked her chin up to face Hadrian. For a moment, he was struck by the likeness she shared with her mother. She had the same beautiful features, same stubborn nature, same unyielding fire. It burned through her veins like molten lava, pushing her forward in life. For the most part, he was grateful. Eva and Arran, they were survivors. Raised strong and proud…. but that pride could also be their detriment.
“Eva.” He growled, not needing to look at the humans or ask any further questions to know what she meant by helping her. “You realize how dangerously close you are to breaking the Accords?” Jesus, what was it going to take to convince the women of his household to take a step back and follow rules they helped put in place? Amory had almost broken them herself, just the night before. Only for a Consular of the Clave, the repercussions were much more severe.
“Why are you here on your own? You know what’s going on, this is a fools errand.” His voice was level, yet not to be mistaken for courteous. Fury flowed through his own veins, the kind that had to be restrained when company was present. Her doe eyed innocence wasn’t going to stop him from protecting his own, whether she liked it or not.
The way he growled her name, she knew full well she was pushing her luck, but it had taken long enough to be able to get this far and Eva was pissed off. Anger ran through her as smoothly as blood through veins and she knew better than to cause a scene out in a public area. That was one thing she would not even attempt to do.
“Close...but not broke. Big difference, father.”
The words left her mouth too easily and given some thought and less hot-headedness, Eva would have reluctantly refrained from saying them, but it was too late now, she just continued to look forward because it was far better not to look at the expression on his face right now--she could imagine it very well.
“Look...nobody will know. I haven’t hurt them or got them to do something freaky..or commit murder--though that thought did cross....”
She decided not to finish the sentence, given the situation and the fact she knew her father well enough to know he was furious under that exterior. Finally, her gaze did turn to him and she clenched her jaw together, hiding the pain that she’d felt since what had happened to Freyja’s parents.
“Because something has to be done!..whoever is killing, they are clearly mocking us all! The Accords only work if absolutely everyone abides by them....which they clearly fuckin’ aren’t.”
She spoke in an angered whisper and defiance was clearly shown in her eyes.
“Did Arran send you?”
There was a moment for composure before she inhaled deeply and looked back to the compelled humans. She’d already made sure they would meet her tomorrow when it was safe to do so--if they weren’t injured by someone angered by their questions.
“I assume there is no point asking if I can stay here and that I have to return with you.”
Fruits of Eden|| Eva & Raven
ravenreisman:
Raven gasped, “Eva, I am a proper lady. How dare you assume I would kiss and tell!” she said in an over-exaggerated tone with a laugh. She could be a true ‘proper lady’, but where’s the fun in that? Part of her sometimes wished she could find the one person that she desired to bond with for eternity. However, she did have almost an eternity to find someone, so, she wasn’t in any rush.
“Absolutely.” Raven always considered herself lucky to live the life she is. Even her life pre-transition had to be the way it was for her to be where she is now. She would never forgive her family for what they did, but without them, she’d be in a grave by now. Even with the requirements of vampirism, Raven never viewed it as an issue. There was a price for everything, and living for so long and never changing appearance or form? All she had to do was feed off other vampires? Wasn’t even a question, she’d do it a hundred times over for the life she lives now.
A smile stretched across Raven’s lips, “You know me so well. I can’t wait to see it.” Eva’s boutique was easily one of Raven’s most frequent stops. Fashion was near and dear to her heart, and close to Eva’s as well.
Raven linked her arm in Eva’s, “Yes, let’s show the town once more how lucky they are to have us.”
“I’d probably kiss and tell if I didn’t care about them....”
Eva shrugged and spoke nonchalantly. The only time that wouldn't apply would be if she had taken a liking to someone she’d had sex with, then she would be more inclined to not reveal the finer details. It wasn’t done out of politeness though, it was because Eva just didn’t want to and as most who knew her, the youngest Mordecai hardly ever did something she didn’t want unless she really had no choice.
“Fair enough though...I really shouldn’t be asking you to share your best conquests..it would only encourage me to take up this dancing even more..out of interest and purely for educational purposes of course.”
There was a sly smirk which covered her lips and widened into a bigass grin. In truth, Eva hadn’t let anything get past a one night stand. She wasn’t sure why--maybe it was her lack of commitment, perhaps it was far deeper and something she wasn’t willing to admit. Either way, she would hide behind the whole ‘my family would scare anyone off so it’s not worth it.’--saying that was far easier.
“I’ll drop it by, save you coming to the boutique.”
She offered her a playful wink. Eva didn’t see it as running around after Raven, purely because she was a friend and bringing the dress to the Fruits of Eden where she frequented a lot herself, it wasn’t really going out of her way.
Tucking her elbow in a little so that Raven's arm was closer to her, Eva headed out of the door towards the main area.
“Raise a little hell....dance the night away and draw some attention..all done without breaking any rules....”
The look on her face indicated she was telling the truth....unless they could get away with anything that is.
Do it and I'll rip your heart out and feed it to your friend

Cold heart, hot temper or something hidden? || Eva&Hade
hadrianmordecai:
With all that had been going on of late, Hadrian had hardly seen his beautiful Eva. Freyja had needed him so much, and the Coven was in a fritz and frankly, he missed spending time with his girl. Had one have asked Hadrian a thousand years ago if he’d be a family man, with children and a home and a life, he’d have laughed in their face. Now? He couldn’t imagine life any other way.
He was wearing one of his finest Dolce dress pants, a deep navy Hermes shirt and a knee length Balmain overcoat. If he was attending Eva’s store, he certainly had to look the part. Checking his watch, he knew there was a good hour before closing. Teleporting to the door, confusion crossed his fetures at the closed sign and darkness beyond. “What the hell?” Closing his eyes, Hadrian reached out with his senses, tracking his blood as it coursed through her veins.
A moment later he’d located her, and teleported to her side. Eva was waiting in the shadows down the alley way beside the Blue Heron Bluehouse, what was she doing here? He stepped out into the light of the moon, closing the distance between them with ease. “Eva? What are you doing here? Why aren’t you at the Atelier?” What the fuck was going on?
She knew her father's presence by scent alone even before he had spoken and Eva inhaled calmly, letting out a low breath. The last person she wanted to see right now was him--though Arran and her mother would probably be on the same score. (Let’s not forget Auri too after their last encounter. Okay, so the number of those she didn’t want to see at this present time was actually more than she cared to admit.) Now it wasn’t because she didn’t care for them, in fact, it was because she cared too much--she loved her family and would do anything to protect them.
---but stubbornness and being strong minded was a terrible combination and the youngest Mordecai would not willingly be accompanied until further notice. She wanted to come and go as she pleased and find out which fucking piece of shit had dared to even kill someone from her coven.
Back to now though. Her father.
There was a slight problem here because Eva was always one to try and wrap him around her little finger. He wasn’t perceived the same by her as many saw him and she had always had a close relationship with Hade. Though Eva tended to know when she had crossed the line--not at the time, usually when she had gone way too far.
This evening her mood was less then easy and deep within herself there was grief--an emotion which she had never been able to cope with--and one she would deny she even felt until she’d ranted and lashed out until her body eventually betrayed her. So the youngest Mordecai focused on using humans to push the questions which would land her in trouble with others if she’d ask them herself.
“I closed early.” Her facial expression remained stoic. “Those humans over there are helping me. They agreed to ask questions about the deaths what others apparently won’t ask.”--what that basically translated to was she compelled them to.
Street-Lit Pavements || Open
shivonneglacier:
Shivonne tended to give this expression and attitude to pretty much everyone, regardless of how deeply she felt and the things she did to help it was always the same. To be so willing, to have such emotions, they were just weaknesses for others to exploit and she would never put herself in an exploitable position again.
“If you hadn’t met a witch in your family’s time then you’d have been reclusive even for vampires.” she said dryly, only to tilt her head a little and pointedly look Eva up and down, “Interesting, to be so old and yet so childish. I suppose age really is little more than a number.” Some people never grew up.
She, on the other hand, had needed to grow up far too soon and was all the better for it.
“Hmm, and I’m sure you and yours have been nothing but merciful and pacifists over the long years.” Just because her parents had decided now was the time to pursue peace didn’t mean they hadn’t been slaughtering anyone they wishes in the centuries prior. And she wasn’t foolish (or naive) enough to believe otherwise.
“As a matter of fact,” Shivonne said, pausing a moment for effect, “I was. Opinionated from the moment I was born.”
A lie. She’d been passive and slight until everything had changed, but she didn’t owe a leech any of that information.
Stumbling back from the push she landed on her ass and was shocked for a second before letting out a laugh and getting back to her feet.
“Temper temper. Parents pursue peace and here you are, loosing your temper like a toddler. They’d be so disappointed.” she smirked, “If killing me is worth your life it makes you wonder if your life’s worth that much to you.”
“But, that’s a question you need to answer yourself. Along with a hard look at yourself.” If she expected to succeed her parents (or however leeches worked) she certainly wasn’t up for it now.
“Of course Little Mordecai, try not to slaughter the city by the end of the week.”
Eva had to let out a loud sardonic laugh at the others words, even though sheer anger was ready to rip the bitches limbs off.
“Oh how pathetic you are, honey. The childish one here is you and you don’t even recognise it. You act like head bitch in charge in a kindergarten playground, throwing lame insults around like that really makes you look like a grown-up.”
Large blue hues remained on Shivonne and her head tilted slightly to one side as she narrowed her eyes slightly as though she was contemplating something.
“Opinionated since the day you were born......oh I bet you were a fucking joy of a brat.”
The youngest Mordecai wasn't about to explain to the witch the irony and hypocrisy of her words to suggest Eva was a child when all Shvonne had done was confirm what a diva she herself was and the insults were nothing short of unimaginative and humdrum.
When Shivonne landed on her ass after being pushed, there wasn’t any humour displayed on Eva’s face. This wasn’t some light-hearted situation that required a comical retort. In fact, she really did want to rip her damn heart out.
“You should stay down there...you are nearer to where you belong--the damn gutter.”
Her gaze never shifted once from the other and her expression was now stoic and undefinable as to what her internal feelings were, though Eva didn’t doubt she had let those feelings known anyway.
“You really should look up what toddlers do....they strop because they want to do adult things...I show my temper because I am an adult and still you proceed with your fucking diva ways and your insults as though you can dish them out to whom you please without anyone becoming pissed off with you--and when they do--you throw the blame back at their feet....which to me shows you are nothing but a childish brat yourself. “
She shook her head and gave a sigh of boredom.
“I know what my life is worth to me. I hope you do too with your own.... the only reason you continue with your shit is because you hide behind the knowledge of the Accords. Good for you, honey. I was growing bored before...but now?--I am really fucking bored.”
She didn’t wait for her to walk away this time, instead, she gave a dismissive gesture and then disappeared.
Fruits of Eden|| Eva & Raven
ravenreisman:
Raven released a quick laugh, part humor, and part sorrow for the poor bastard who tried to touch Eva. Between her and her father, there was no hope for the unlucky sap. “I would have paid to see that interaction, Eva, dear.”
She shrugged, “You know, I’ve had plenty of women ‘explore’ using my fine ass.” she laughed again. Raven really had no preference one way or the other, attractive people were attractive people. Didn’t matter what they called themselves, male, female, neither, both, wolf, vampire, or human. Look at her life now, she was with a sexy werewolf on and off.
“I mean to be fair, we have almost all of eternity, but I get your point.” she winked at Eva. Raven changed from her costume back to a little black dress with thigh high black heeled boots. Looking at the rack of clothes in front of her, she opted for a pink faux fur stole as a little pop of color. She walked to the large mirror, lined with lights, and touched up her makeup quickly. Looking at the youngest Mordecai through the mirror, she finally said, “Okay, let’s dance the night away.”
Eva shot Raven a glance and chuckled, knowing her father had only looked at the guy in question in a certain way and he was in a rush to get the hell out of the club. Even she was relieved he’d made a quick exit before the situation got any worse and normally she would revel in such a thing.
“Oh really?”
The youngest Mordecai acted surprised but she wasn't really and it was done in a playful way to indicate that too.
“So do tell, darling. Who was the best one you ever had?...and was it recently or long ago?”
Eva had been with guys and heavily flirted with both sexes over the centuries, but nobody had ever been able to find a place in her heart. In fact, none she had ever cared for at all. It was a good thing in a way because it was difficult to fall for her, but having to face her family was a scary thought for even the most brave and bold.
“An eternity for fun and being so beautifully ageless too. Aren’t we the lucky ones?”
There was a playful wiggle of her brow and she stood up from where she was sat, her blue hues checking out the outfit Raven was wearing.
“Perfect. Speaking of which, I have a new line that has come in at the boutique which when I briefly looked through, I saw a seductive little number that would be perfect for you. I will bring it over and show you at a different time.”
Flicking her hair back and away from her face, Eva was ready to go.
“Until then....let’s go show that club how we dance....our way.”
Don’t get in my way|| Eva & Auri
aureliusshepherd:
The moment Aurelius slid back into reality, feet firmly planted on the path between his niece and the way out of safety, he began steeling himself for what had to be done. He could not let Eva leave the Estate, not now, not alone and sneaking off to do something likely to be more dangerous than an idle stroll, regardless of the fact that wandering around the town seemed to be getting people killed these days. He’d been loitering within earshot of the gates for a reason, and this meant that his foregoing a more comfortable reading spot had been worthwhile. Now he just had to convince a strong-willed young Mordecai who’d had him more or less wrapped around her finger for centuries to come with him back to the Estate proper.
The smile wasn’t unexpected, nor was the casual sweetness to her tone. Aurelius’ lips twitched into a small smile in reply regardless, his stance just as casual as hers, though he remained firmly in the way of her escape. “Apologies. Yes, well, I thought I’d take advantage of the clear skies and read outside tonight. I imagine once the sky darkens a bit more the stars will be nice- you could sit with me if you’d like, enjoy how lovely it is.” The suggestion was an offering for de-escalation that Aurelius was practically certain Eva would not take. It was worth a try regardless, anyway.
“Really? Well, I’m sure I’ll run into him soon.” Aurelius played along, tapping his book absently against his thigh as he looked over at Eva carefully.
He’d known her for long enough that he didn’t imagine the back-and-forth would last long. Soon, she’d want to press on to whatever had driven her towards the gates, and as much as Auri could sympathize with wanting to do something, that was something he simply couldn’t let happen.
There was a simmering rage burning inside of her and it had only been made worse after seeing Freyja. Eva was not very good when it came to be the shoulder to cry on, she always tried to use other tactics to help someone she cared about, by trying to maintain some normality and taking their mind off of it a while. She felt like that had not been a success with the girl so hadn’t stayed long in the room and figured Freyja would be best helped by someone else. Her own feelings only doubled and manifested into something far darker instead, until she was blinded by nothing else and thoughts for her own welfare were not an issue anymore. Arran had been the one to reason with her last time and it had worked, but it was because of the consequences he had threatened her with that had the youngest Mordecai backing down.
--not this time she thought.
Yet his words of offering her to sit with him did cause a flicker of softness to entire her facial features. Any other time, it would be something she would welcome. She’d always enjoyed spending those quieter moments with him.
“I would like to do that, Auri...I really would...it would have to be another time though. Maybe tomorrow? If you want?”
Her voice was still quite calm and friendly.
“Okay. I just thought I should tell you. You know what my father is like.”
Her lips pressed together to form a thin line, a small flex in her jaw could be seen as Auri clearly had no intention of going back inside to look for Hadrian. There was a momentary pause as her hues locked on his and she inhaled deeply through her nostrils, patience wavering quickly.
“Look. I have to go. I will be back soon. So step aside for me okay?--lets do this the easy way.”
Best Served Cold | A&E
amorymordecai:
“I know, my love,” Amory replied, a sad smile playing softly at the corner of her mouth. “I know.”
She happened to agree with her daughter. Roseville’s vampires were too proud a people to be herded behind their tall walls, relying on warding magic for their safety. This was their town, their home. If any should walk these streets without fear it was them. And yet here they were, compliant to a threat and afraid of who it might take next. It wasn’t their way, and Amory herself loathed that they had allowed themselves to be subjugated by any entity, unknown or otherwise.
Anger had nod subsided with the days since Thalia’s murder. It was not likely to fade until her attacker’s head was posted on a pike in front of the Estate’s wrought iron gates. But Amory was beyond hysterics, past allowing irrational reaction navigate her next move. Always her touchstone, she could borrow some of her husband’s inherent stoicism and rely on logic and strategy to exact justice. The Coven would have its revenge, being smart about getting it would simply take time.
Patience was a learned skill that she and Eva would simply have to consciously practice. They would hone their rage with a whetstone until the time finally came to retaliate. Who knows, perhaps revenge would even be sweeter with time.
The sad smile on Amory’s expression turned understanding at Eva’s words. She brushed her fringe out of her eyes, tucking the soft strands behind her ear as she searched her daughter’s too beautiful face. “I know you care, my tiny dancer. You care so much it scares you. It always has, sweet girl, ever since you were a babe on my hip. You feel so deeply you fear there is no bottom to it.” The corner of Amory’s lips curled and she brushed her knuckles on Eva’s smooth cheek in gentle caress. “Easier to pretend you feel nothing at all than to wade the vast ocean roiling under the surface.”
That was what happened when two personalities such as she and Hadrian were joined. Amory was volatile and reactive, a churning volcano always capable of eruption. Hadrian was the deadly frigid calm of the arctic, all icy winds and soul-devouring permafrost. Their temperaments combined was no easy thing to manage. It was understandable why Eva would choose dispassion. In these troubled times there was such thing as feeling too much. Amory knew, and she’d never fault her daughter for that choice.
She held her daughter’s face in her hands and brought her brow forward for a kiss. Unwilling to leave her affection at that, she gave the girl two more; one to each cheek before pulling her into a tight embrace. “Then endeavour to give me fewer reasons to worry, won’t you?” Amory pulled back to catch her daughter’s gaze when she answered, wanting Eva to look her in the eyes as she did so.
A warm simper met her apology. “Your best is all I ask for, sweetheart. And for you to be conscientious of what you mean to your family and your coven. Be safe, if not for your own sake then for ours.” Her smile broadened with the love she had for the stunning female before her. Again Amory fussed over her daughter’s hair, smiling softly to herself as she did so, and murmuring, “Come now. It’s time for us to go home. Then we can vent some of these frustrations with some swordplay. What do you say?”
Eva knew full well that if anyone agreed with her, it would be her mother. She knew Arran did too but her mother shared that same tornado of anger which resided so immensely in her soul, that it could easily obliterate anything or anyone in its path. The youngest Mordecai also knew that her mother would be very determined to keep her safe. So trying to talk her around with making a point of how she couldn’t be on lockdown like that--how it only made her worse, or perhaps she wanted to do something productive and not sit around and wait for another murder, it seemed like she might be wasting her energy.
“You understand me....always have....”
Very few could understand Eva, but her family did--her parents, her brother and her godparent, Auri. She could be cold and uncaring there was no doubt about it, but when it came to the coven she cared very deeply and yet when things went wrong, Eva manifested that care in ways some could not see as anything but foolishness and lack of concern for anyone. It would be fair to say she didn’t help her own corner due to the fact that she could be a complete pain in the ass and intolerable to some even on a good day. Get a bad day though when hurt and emotional pain had found a place to stay in her heart, then everything she did normally was tenfold--and that included her short fuse.
She closed her eyes and leaned into her mother's touch, each movement slow and relaxed.
“You know...because it’s how you feel, right?”
She didn't really need to ask because Eva was like her mother in a lot of ways. Though she wasn’t sure if her mother would agree or not.
“I will. I will try, mother.”
--and she wasn’t lying. Eva spoke with truth and honesty towards Amory, her visual firmly fixed on her, but when it came to the heat of the moment, pain, anger and frustration suffocated her, so the youngest Mordecai just couldn’t think that way.
There was always something calming about the way her mother would play with tousles of her hair. Maybe it reverted her to the comfort of being a child centuries ago, but it was never something she tired of.
“You all mean everything to me...more than anything at all.”
Eva smiled and nodded as her mother mentioned venting some frustration and she dangled the keys to the boutique playfully in the air.
“Oh, now you are talking.”
With a teasing glance to Amory as she flicked off the lights and linked her arm through hers, Eva wiggled her brow.
“I think I may stand a chance of winning this time.”
Cold heart, hot temper or something hidden? || Eva&Hade
“It was specially imported from a little Italian boutique. Made of Ivory silk-jacquard and lace. The panel is sheer lace with the brands signature paisley pattern woven into it. It would look completely gorgeous, darling when combined with coordinating pants.” Eva was giving all the spiel about the white shirt that was a costly $3000 and the female looked like she had money to burn. Within a few minutes, her cash was in the till and she had left the boutique.
Again, Eva locked up a few hours early, intending to return before the normal closing hours. Leaving the estate didn’t work out as planned when Auri was around, so this was the way she had figured she would do it, because closing on time had seen her accompanied by Arran and then her mother. The youngest Mordecai was the sort to rebel and do what she wanted anyway, but there was more too it this time and anger definitely played the prevalent emotion on the surface.
So with a plan in mind, Eva visited where the humans lived, compelled two and waited for them to carry out what she had instructed. It was shortly after, they’d gone into the Blue Heron brewhouse and started asking questions and demanding answers regarding the recent murders. Eva purposely waited in the shadows, letting the shade envelop and cloak her frame. It didn’t matter how irate anyone got, but she was looking for any reactions from those in the area--anything that would indicate they knew something--and at least it wasn’t her in the firing line, not that she would be too bothered with the mood she was in.

shivonneglacier:
Shivonne looked down for a moment, and chuckled.
“Oh believe me, someone would know.”
Many people foolishly believed you died and that was it but… it was so much more, there was something that came next and she specialised in seeing, speaking and listening to what was there. This leech couldn’t understand that since she was no longer a natural part of that cycle. But, that was more fool her for missing out something so intrinsically intertwined with the world in which they all lived. And even if they’d removed themselves from the cycle, they could still be forced back into it, as they’d recently discovered.
“You would, you likely have and if no laws prevented it you’d have done it already.” she deadpanned.
That was the way vampire’s were as far as she was concerned, they were bloodthirsty beasts who killed for the sake of wanting to. At least when a wolf devoured someone they usually ate some of the corpse.
“Then I’m all the more free to have my opinions, you see how that works?” she asked wryly, “And more like, uncaring harmony but in that small regard I’ll agree with the point.”
“Because a witch has died, a human hunter has died and two vampire’s have died.” she said slowly, as though speaking to a child, “One of these thing is not like the other…” she sing-songed.
“Oh some of them are, there’s always at leats one stupid one.”
She smirked and took a few steps forward.
“I wouldn’t dare, I prefer it that way.” And she really did, better an ice-cold bitch than a weak fool. “Oh I don’t run, I stride.”
Just by Shivonne’s expression alone, she knew very well the distaste she held for a vampire like herself. In some sense though, Eva preferred it that way. If someone didn't like her or her kind then it really was no skin off her nose, but she would sooner know about it rather than the fake pleasantries that really were quite sickly.
“Like I said..it was a joke and I am no fool to whether someone would know. Do not think that my family haven’t been associated with witches over the centuries and know certain things. They all haven’t got a stick up their ass like you have my darling...oops...a slip there, can’t call you darling....hm...”
Telling Eva not to say something, usually had the opposite effect, but occasionally it did work.
“Oh please..spare me the psychoanalyzing. You really do not know what I am capable of or what I have done or whom I have killed. Didn’t you know?...my parents are strict upholders of the Accords so maybe I have been brought up to believe in peace and love...like the hippies in the sixties.”
There was a clear smirk plastered on her face which said otherwise and she deliberately displayed it too.
“Feel free to be as opinionated as you wish. No doubt you have been that way all of your life.”
The way Shivonne spoke next, had anger flare up immediately throughout Eva’s entire body and she pushed the other hard with both hands.
“Be lucky that I know better than to use any of my abilities...but continue talking slowly and purposely like you are talking to an infant...and will forego my own life just to rip out your fucking heart!”
Her blue hues stared intensely into the others, seething because she was actually going to offer a little humour regarding the werewolf part, but not now.
“However you fucking walk....just move and be on your way, witchbitch.”
