“Speak up for animals the way you would want to be spoken up for if you were in their shoes” – James Aspey
 Hello, Beauties,
A few weekends ago I had the pleasure of attending another Vegan Social Events function held downtown at the Organic Garage on junction road in Toronto. As many of you know I have been to a few of their events. I have to say this one was so much bigger than I expected.
The sustainable block party event was packed full of great food, amazing vendors and some inspiring speakers. From the beautiful weather to the amazing community I have to say I was very impressed. The one thing I love about vegan events is the sense of solidarity and friendship. the vegan community in Toronto has to be one of the most amazing groups of men and women who are nothing but kind, compassionate and supportive.
Fun, Food and Friends
Secondly, they always have good food! from Vegan Stokes Cheese who hands down has one of the best cream cheeses I have ever tried.  Ripple plant milk’s whos protein packed Dairy-free milk which is far better than milk ever was in my opinion. You are always sure to find something you truly enjoy they even had some amazing hotdogs from Sausage Party.
I was also very happy to see a bunch of vendor from fashion and skincare to animal saving organizations such as the Sea Sheperd and everything in between. Though I have to say one of my favourite parts had to be the many speakers. Great talks not only for vegans but non-vegans as well. They have a wealth of information from many walks of life.
The Vegan Social Events Speakers!
You had speakers like Sam Turnball from It doesn’t taste like chicken. Shoshana Chaim From Plant Trainers, Ann Marie Campbell From Meat Free Athlete, Dr. Pamela Fergussion, Tehsina Jaffer (holistic nutritionist), Richard Burgess (vegan gains on youtube) just to name a few. The Keynote Speaker was James Aspey whos story has inspired so many to become vegan. He even took a vow of silence for a whole year to raise awareness for animal rights. His story is truly amazing he has overcome cancer, eating disorders and so much more, He truly inspires me.
The Vegan Community
The Vegan Social Events are put on by Avra From the Love Wild Live Free blog. She did an amazing job putting this event on and gathering so many like-minded people together for such an amazing movement. Veganism has truly changed my life and for anyone thinking vegans are ” aggressive”, “overbearing” etc I urge you to come to one of these events. You will find those sentiments couldn’t be further from the truth.
I would like to thank all those who put this together for creating a great event and I look forward to the next one!
