3/8/39-4/13/22💛 These last couple weeks were so hard and are still a bit of a blur. I still can’t believe you’ve passed. As a small home overflowed with loved ones. A phone that was busy with calls and text from those who were far. I only hope you felt and knew the love we had for you 💞 I’m just so grateful we brought you to Austin last November. Getting the chance to watch you bond with some of the newest members of the family, from your Great Grandchildren to Great Great Grandchildren, was extremely special to see. They were instantly drawn to you with such love and joy, just like we all were 💞 You had so many wonderful qualities; your strength, independence, sense of humor, loving, your caring nature. Looking back at our last few days together, those really stood out. You used all your energy to comfort us, reminding us we had each other. Telling Grandpa to eat when we brought him food. I vividly remember how you opened your eyes for the little ones just so they would smile. Above all you knew you couldn’t say these words enough & you said it over and over… “I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU, gracias por cuidarme tan bien” (Thank You for taking such good care of me). I will forever cherish getting to sit by your side during this time, day and night. Taking in every last second with you. Holding your hand, telling you, Te Querio Mucho & I Love You, because one language didn’t seem like enough. There’s things in life that always instantly remind me of you. Like a cup of tea or un cafecito con galletas. Arts and crafts… knitting, crocheting, sewing, jewelry making, sea shells were some of the more popular ones. Gardening, like the most recent flowers you planted. I’m sure now I’ll be drawn to these more than ever. Thank you so much for checking in💛  The first day of snow in Austin was like happy Elsa asking if I wanted to build a ☃️ snowman 🎶 Then someone pissed her off and things started to change real quick 🥶 The whole state was literally frozen 🌬❄️❄️❄️ Day 2 we lost power. We had food to make meals but no way to cook. Chips, crackers and checking expiration dates it is. Eating things by date as to not waste what fruits & veggies we did have. We had just enough water pressure to wash hands and flush the toilet. Neighbors in the next building had power but started flooding from busted pipes.  Having to find ways to break through walls to redirect water from inside their homes. No available help from the property and the cities resources are stretched to the limits. Understandably only responding to life and death situations💔 Day/hour ?🤷‍♀️  Boil water notice for the city. Still have a little water pressure but no way to boil water.  Thankfully still have some bottles of drinking water. Just realizing I forgot about the notice when brushing my teeth. I think I rinsed my mouth with it 🤔🤦‍♀️😳  Day? Today. Now we have power and no water to boil. Note to self: use mouth wash to rinse. One problem solved. Bonus, I live above a Hop Doddy and they opened today after being closed all week! First real meal in a few days and it was sooo good😋 Things seem to be getting better for us and warmer weather is coming soon. All that being said we were luckier than most. Hospitals are struggling for resources including water.  We are still in a water boil notice and still need to conserve energy across the state.  New problems are continuing to develop.  It’s a mix match of resources and utilities. Spinning the wheel to see what you will get today.  So I’m not sure when I will be able to return to work. Water is an extremely valuable and scarce resource right now. I can’t really do my job without it. I also need it to drink and shower. I am hoping once I can shower regularly it also means I can return to work?! 🤷‍♀️ #beautylovegrace #austintx #austinlife #austinhair #atxhair #oribeambassador (at Austin, Texas) https://www.instagram.com/p/CLdblejlj1j/?igshid=fyzb7mq8d42x
