Yesterday was #InternationalWomansDay and I spent it driving down the coast to the Malibu sea with my girl, grateful that we could be here, free to drive, to wear what we want, to make our own money we could use to pay for our own lunch, free to feel and experience this & be ourselves. As a woman, it is not so long ago we wouldn't have been able to do that. As a woman, in some countries, we still can't. Even here, even today, as a woman, and as a woman of colour, there are many rooms, many rights we don't have, many we fought for that are being backtracked. We are still inherently unequal, living under the white, fat fingered palm of patriarchy and feeling the effects of it on every single aspect of our lives. It's why we need a day like this. It's why I am so honoured to be an ambassador for @togetherbandofficial #Goal5 for gender equality and why I'll be wearing my band & continuing my work for #TheGreaterFreedom with pride.
