I’m starting to notice a fashion trend happening that’s really rubbing me the wrong way and I’d like to talk about this matter seriously:
Tying your jacket/shirt around your waist.
What you are seeing here is an optical illusion. By accessorizing with her oversized glass, summer fedora, and designer bag…you fail to notice (or think) how strange it is that she has this GIANT purse, but no where to put her long sleeve shirt once she took it off? Did she make a poor fashion choice this morning about the weather and it was warmer than she originally anticipated? Is her bag already too full of organic granola bars and self-help books she left no room for her chambray button-up? Did she pee herself and embarrassingly had to cover up with her closest resource? I have a millions questions. All of them, why, why did someone put so much effort into finding a fashionable way to bring back yet another 90′s era trend?
It is even worse when someone is wearing their jacket belt, and they already have another jacket on. A heavy one, in fact. A ‘I knowingly choose to put this jacket on my arms and use this second jacket to cover my hips (or draw attention to my crotch)’ jacket. Does this make wearing sunglasses over top of your real glasses finally cool? (I’m going to go with a hard, no)
I do not believe we are all as fortunate as this girl when it comes to this fashion choice. In fact, I’m sure if I were to attempt this same feat I am certain I would resemble Topanga’s little sister trying to tag along with the ‘big kids’ to see ‘Spice World’ in theaters.* Let it also be known that I attempted to find a tacky, low quality, 90′s photo of this original trend and it seems the entire internet has fallen pray to the idea that this is fashionable.

Behind the gates of an iffy parking lot and next to no distinguishable businesses (definitely no other restaurants), this Western themed bar was right up our date night alley. I would get why they call it ‘The Hideout’ considering the blue illuminated lights above the back patio say nothing but suggest an arrow to the door and there was no other signs of life to be found from the outside. Inside, however, awaited all night Happy Hour on Mondays, a really friendly, down to earth bar staff (not like any uppity, can’t get their attention, don’t ask me any questions bartenders), and old Cartoon Network reruns.
If you are a vegetarian, and like most vegetarians, miss the classic, irreplaceable taste and texture of Buffalo Wings: order the Buffalo Mushrooms. I am not a vegetarian, and these fried, spicy morsels (with Ranch) were good enough for me to consider giving up chicken for.
My burger: Gavin McLeod. Topped with crumbled blue cheese, sautéed mushrooms, and A-1 sauce. The fries were cut thick (not steak) and seasoned to not need a dipping sauce. In fact, don’t use the ketchup because it would take away from how great they were.
My lady ordered what was called a Dr. Joyce Brothers, which was provolone, romaine, tomato, red onion, avocado, sprouts, and Italian dressing. This was actually my second choice, so I am glad I was able to steal a few bites of this what I would call ‘refreshing’ burger. She opted for salad (ugh, healthy) instead of fries, and while I have no idea what was in it, I found myself picking over her basket for a few bites of that as well.
I can promise you we will be back for more of The Escondite.
My girlfriend works at the Beverly Center Apple Store. She's a technician so if you need your shit fixed...go see her. Like Joe Jonas did today. She made him an appointment to repair his cracked iPhone screen. Sorry Joe.
Bitches out here are tall as shit. And they give no fucks about wearing heels. In fact, they encourage wearing them. Even to malls. Even on weekdays. Even in the middle of the afternoon. Even with strollers. And sweatpants (I actually haven’t seen this yet, but I wouldn’t put it past anyone) Currently wearing: Rainbow brand flip flops
pro tip
If you are a Target fan (if you are human), shop at the cityTarget on 3rd by the Beverly Center. It’s much easier to get in and out of than that terrifying Target in FIGat7th (which is the scariest place I’ve been to in LA...besides Walmart), it’s never crowded, and parking is free with purchase validation (which is a no brainer, because Q: can anyone really go into Target without buying anything? A: no)
Do I sound like I know what I’m talking about yet?
Heard Maroon 5's 'Sugar' for the first time since moving and I finally figured out who he's singing about. Secrets out Adam. It's me.
I'm never gonna survive out here if I don't learn how to curl my hair
(near) Celebrity Sighting! Okay, so really we just brushed past each other and I'll probably forever hate the company I was with that they didn't mention how close I was until after we had passed. Maybe they saved me loads of embarrassment and they did the much cooler thing to do...BUT IT WAS MY (almost) FIRST. And you never forget your first... You're beautiful, Chantelle
I am 100% certain that at every bar I don't know 100% of their beers
coast to coast
I just moved from VA to LA (yes, I’m very cool).
And while I personally was under the impression I had been decently hip all my life (lol) I had absolutely no idea how much of a culture shock this move was really going to be (I live in a district called Koreatown)(Excuse me: the cool thing to say is K-town)
So what better way to share my surprise and delight, my unapologetic unbiased (right) observations and judgement, and the trial and error of exploring this city without looking like either a tool or a tourist than to start a blog, right?! (because blogs are cool)
Also I promised myself and my friends that I wouldn’t let myself become a person that used the tag #westcoastbestcoast so let me go ahead and get that out of my system now #westcoastbestcoast #woogirl #woo
Welcome to LA, bitches 💁
