@beccatravels
So the other day I Skyped with the head teacher in Xiaolan who is a friend of mine, and I asked to see Henry, because he's my favorite student (oops), and she was like "Uh, we don't have a Henry."
I'm like uh yeah first of all you do.
But she kept telling me no they don't and he must've left and they have a Harry but not a Henry.
Which I thought was weird because there's no Harry in our younger class (which would now be their older class)
So I was like wait which class is Harry in? And she told he he was in red class at which point I kind of started laughing like um red class was my homeroom there's no Harry in that class.
Aaaand at that point Kelly cut in and was like um no there's a Henry in red class and no Harry, Harry graduated.
And I was just cracking up at this point like apparently they've been calling Henry Harry for the first week and a half of class.
And Maddie goes "That would explain why on the first day he said 'Teacha! My name not Harry!'"
And this is like my favorite story ever.
Never say goodbye, because goodbye means going away, and going away means forgetting.
Random from Jiuzhaigou - Three from the park and the third from the airport (where we sat for like the whole entire day ugh) with a girl who asked to take a picture with me :) She danced for us and was so precious!
note: i was not nearly as excited about the outfits as dad was.
All things Yangshuo and Chinese people and travelling.
Drifting trip today :) Basically the most fun thing we've done. Ever.
Jiuzhaigou: Note that I did not edit any of these in any way shape or form.
Not too much to report from Xi'an, since it was such a short stop :)
So this is pretty much my Beijing photoset :)
Update on our vacation, since I haven't much yet.
Having Dad meet all my kids was amazing! They all loved him so much (once they got over being afraid of him), and he loved them too! They performed Cinderella for us in the evening at their mock graduation ceremony (that they had for us since we were leaving before the real deal) and were all so wonderful in it!
Then, off to Beijing. Great Wall, Pearl Market, Forbidden City, all that good stuff. The Pearl Market was awesome because we met two really sweet girls, Sonia and Lulu! They were so much fun to talk to and hang out with! Basically we just love Chinese people though - We have made so many new friends and gotten all of their contact information. The two of us together make quite the team as far as talking to absolutely EVERYONE goes.
The highlight of the vacation for both of us though would have to be the sleeper train last night! Which is funny but true. When we were at the train station we were one of like two groups of white people there, so when Dad was watching the Chinese men play cards and trying to figure out how it worked, a little girl came and asked him to take a picture with her, and if you've been to China or read my blog posts you know what happens next - A FLOOD of Chinese people ended up taking pictures with him. Seriously so cute. So then this little girl was playing a rock paper scissors 'ish' game - much harder and longer though - with her brother and sister (or friends), and dad wanted to play, SO they tried to teach him. With him knowing basically no Chinese and her knowing very little English, it was hard to communicate, and they slowed their games down a lot so he could keep up, but it was the cutest thing! I will post a video of him playing with them at some point - One of the women sitting near me who spoke a little English said "Your father is like the children!" And every time my dad would lose, which resulted in the kids karate chopping his arms and pinching his cheeks (part of the game) all the adults would giggle at them. And one time he tricked them when he was trying to slap their hands he said "Look over there!" and pointed to the side of the train station, and all three of them looked, so he slapped all of their hands! Classic trick. All the adults though that was very funny (At this point there was quite a large group of people standing around watching). And he said that was the best part of the vacation so far. So freaking cute. Then on the train we met an English speaking man and he taught my dad how to play Chinese chess, which he now thinks he is a pro at. It's much more complicated than International chess, I couldn't even begin to wrap my mind around how it works.
Today we went to the Terra Cotta Warriors and had dinner at a place called 'Big Pizza', then ended up getting traditional Chinese massages in our rooms. They felt pretty good but hurt.
... But not as bad as Dad's acupuncture did. I was basically torn between laughing at his reactions, and feeling bad because it obviously hurt. Hopefully it does something good for his body, and the pain is worth it for him!
So that's our update for now :) Tomorrow our wake up call is around 4:30 am so we can catch our flight at 7:55 to Jiuzhaigou, which we are very excited about! Cheers!
we loved 198 art district and spent practically a whole day there!
All my little princesses and babies on our last day :) Oh and Dad.
Saying goodbye to those kids today was absolutely one of the hardest things I've ever had to go through.
This is why we don't get up at 6:30 am after going to bed at 1 something. I HOPE YOU LEARNED YOUR LESSON SIR.
