[It took me quite a while…] The past months have been quite the hardest to endure. She found herself between winning and losing with that little amount of quitting. It seemed to her that things were happening all at once—within her and around her. Great things are happening, and so are great pains—something that she couldn’t tell anyone but Him. For quite a while, it has been just her and Him. But deep down inside, she knew something WAS not right. She took a bold step. A step away, out of her comfort zone, never been taken, into a seemingly unfamiliar place. Unfamiliar bounds. Unfamiliar territory. But in that unfamiliar place, she found comfort. She found stillness. She found fresh winds. She finally shed those tears. It was unknown territory, an unfamiliar place. It was there that she heard this very familiar VOICE. It was there that she listened to that so familiar WHISPER. It was there that she felt that ever-familiar, heart-melting EMBRACE. Tears poured down. She could only let out that long, deep sigh. A sigh of relief. A sigh of surrender. “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” - Isaiah 43:19 NIV This is the Lord telling Israel who He is, what great things He has done and what more He is about to do. (Read through Isaiah 42 & 43.) It’s the first time I’m tasked to preach in the Sunday service, mostly adults, families, and professionals, take note, 9AM! (so much for me who struggles in the morning, minsan, sorry na! 🤭) At first, it was an assignment given to me by senior pastor, when it was actually a God-given assignment. 🤍🥹 I’m comfortable preaching to young people, but not to the people beyond my age. I thought, “I’m too young. They might not believe God’s word if it’s spoken through me.” But every time, napaparepent agad ako because it is as if, I’m questioning GOD’S POWER to work through His very words, not mine. 👊🏻 It was like a punch in the face. ✌🏻 You know what? I get to love His Word even more. I don’t know that much, but I get to savor every thing the Lord reveals in His every words. As I study, I get to process my thoughts and what I’ve been learning, to my co-preachers. I learned from them and I get to do theology with them, too. It was a sermon on missions, but as I wrestle with His word, He pointed me to the most important thing: Who He is? Why can we all put our hope in Him? Establishing what the Scripture say about the ONE who calls us in this Great Mission—to make Him known and bring His hope to the ends of the earth, in every tribe, every nation. God’s word is weighty. We really cannot just take it lightly. And to me, who is comfortable with what’s in my plate, with my current space, I am not to take this weighty call lightly. Indeed, this is a new thing! I may not saw this coming, this new thing He is doing, but now He has already begun! 🥹🙌🏻 P.S. God, help me to rely on Your word, even in every preaching moment. May I always be in joy of preaching Your word to people, in and out of season, in every generation, in every nation! 2 years ago, in the middle of something big in my life, I answered to God's call of reaching the young people with the Gospel. To set foot on the campus and reach out to those young lives has been an overwhelming work of grace and faith in my life. This, I can say, is one of the best decisions I've ever made. It's one great rollercoaster ride and I got to love it even more. It's been a year, too, of serving the next generation in a full-time capacity! I truly can't contain how it is to be called and sent, to be empowered and sustained. Only by His grace. ✨ Thank you, God, church, and ministry partners. 𝗚𝗼𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝗚𝗼𝗱.—This, we know and believe, but some may not have known yet. Yet, we still tend to ask questions and let out complaints about the injustices that surround us. Doesn't this prove that our comprehension can never outwit God's? Because we really can never. We cannot outsmart His mind. It opens the opportunity for us to be in faith for the things unexplained. Just like how Habakkuk (Habakkuk 1) did. Injustices and evil surround him. He presented his (many) complaints to the Lord. Even question how God seemingly allowed such things to happen. But amidst all the injustices and questions within him, his intimacy with God remained unbroken (Habakkuk 1:12). With all the questions and complaints he has, he went back to his relationship with Him. He acknowledged who God is—the Holy One, the everlasting, and just God. Just as Jesus also displayed. He slept on a boat during a raging storm (Matthew 8:23-26). "How could He?" the disciples who were with Him probably thought. But Jesus' unbroken intimacy with His Father has kept him a quiet heart. We should also not break with our intimacy with God because of the injustices and sufferings around us. All the more, may it be an opportunity to seek on Him, present our concerns to Him, and wait upon Him, wait until He answers. As we wait, may this unbroken intimacy keeps us a quiet heart.
