Cryptozoology — The study of organisms whose existence is unconfirmed by science.
This description pertains to yet undiscovered species as well as those that are considered out of place and once extinct yet persist into modern day.
𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘼𝙨𝙨𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝘾𝙧𝙮𝙥𝙩𝙤𝙯𝙤𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙁𝙞𝙚𝙡𝙙𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠 & 𝘼𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙮𝙨𝙞𝙨 (𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙢𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣 𝘾𝙧𝙮𝙥𝙩𝙤𝙯𝙤𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮) is a group with the intention of objectively studying evidence that may substantiate the existence of such as-of-yet unverified organisms. As history has shown, animals that are well known to the world today were once considered folkloric or mythical; mountain gorillas, komodo dragons, giant squid, okapi, and more. A more contemporary example would be the 2018 discovery of the amphibious reticulated siren previously known as the “leopard eel;” a reclusive species of aquatic salamander only previously known through anecdotal encounters and campfire stories.
The founders and other members of the ACFA focus on conducting inquiry and fieldwork to further the research of such possible evidence in order to bring the truth to light, whatever it may be, with an unbiased view and an open-mind. — Nate Brislin (ACFA Founder/Administrator)
