Sold. She was an incredible first bow... but I'm thrilled about the Monster taking her place.
So there’s this video going around about a guy "shredding Hollywood myths" about archery and demonstrating incredible feats of skill. It’s a fun five minutes. But mostly because the pretentious narration is a hoot, trick shot videos are fun, and a guy shooting a bow on roller skates is hilarious.
But “a new level of archery” [sic] is not just a good laugh. It’s obnoxious and arrogant. (Geek Dad has the best written response, so far.) From studying “old pictures” and “manuscripts,” Lars found out that shooting with a sight at a stationary target with the arrow on the inside of the bow is not true archery.
Mike Schloesser - who just put 60 consecutive arrows on a 1 cm X - would disagree.
Archers shoot different setups for different reasons. We enjoy shooting recurve bows, longbows, and compound bows. We love shooting at Xs, foam animals, and screaming bull elk. Lars shoots arrows at homemade silhouettes in the gym - and it looks like he has a lot of fun doing it.
The rest of us will keep doing our thing too.
The beauty of this over-the-counter hunt is that you can do it every year. You don’t have to build up points for years and hope to get drawn. Also, with this one tag you can hunt three different times of the year. So if you don’t fill your tag during the first season, you will still have two more opportunities. Also, though some may not agree with this, spike bucks are legal. So if you are a new bow hunter or just a meat hunter you can have even more opportunity with deer that are not yet educated.
Also, some of the units in the state hold the elusive Coues Whitetail. You can shoot these deer with the same over-the-counter tag. Check the Arizona Game and Fish regulations to see a map where these deer are present.

How to Shoot a "Back Tension" Release
From Sole Adventure:
Hinge-style releases are very helpful for all archers and bowhunters, and they aren’t hard to use! In the video below I explain how a hinge release works, and how I use one to execute my shots.

POSTSEASON BOW MAINTENANCE
For many of us, bowhunting opportunities have wrapped up by the end of January and the winter months are a perfect time to do some postseason maintenance on our equipment. The investment that many of us put into our archery arsenal can be significant. Keeping your equipment tuned and well-maintained is critical to its longevity and accuracy, so some basic off-season care and maintenance is important.

Nock On PC 30: Training and Preparation
PC 30 PART 2 is a continuation from the previous podcast. We continue to discuss a great topic on training and preparation using a method that helped me break through the pro ranks. Then we talk a little about fitness and also about some of the hidden secrets inside the ATA show 2015.
真 SHIN(Truth)
While there are various styles of shooting, the archer's draw, aim, and release must be performed correctly within his style of shooting. The bow and arrow must also be correct for the archer.
善 ZEN(Goodness)
Zen requires one to always stay calm and not lose his composure. The archer seeks sophistication, introspection, peace and equality. He pursues association, bonding and peace with others while maintaining serenity at all times.
美 BI(Beauty)
Shooting a bow correctly and with composure is exquisitely beautiful in its shape and harmony of movement. Placing an arrow on target is a beautiful outcome... the product of Shin and Zen.
When action is based in Shin, with the purpose of Zen, then it has a dignity and quality of appearance that is appealing and beautiful to observe. This is the expression of bi.
Spirit of Kyudo
Fine tune your equipment by shooting at horizontal and vertical lines.
