THE ARCHIVES: For the past year or so, the Fresh Zine has had a hefty amount of interviews done but no space to publish 'em. Since we're starting over, we've decided to feature PDX's Tender Age and reviving our favorite bands of the week section! Read more about Portland's finest below the cut.
The band was born during the summer of 2012 in Portland. It wasn't until about a year later that we actually started playing many shows or recording. It's come together in different line ups over the last few years. Edgar, Bryan and Tauna are the longest surviving members, Elaina is the newest.
What are some of your musical influences and why?
Our influences are pretty broad. We explore a lot of sounds and genres all the time. One day we'll be really into something totally random then the next day breaking apart contemporary classical music. 1988 is a good answer to tie it all together though. A ton of good albums and sounds came out around then that we really love. "Disintegration", "Daydream Nation", "The Stone Roses", "Bummed", "Isn't Anything", "Blue Bell Knoll", "Darklands & Automatic". Bleach, The Breeders, Swirlies, Oasis, Chapterhouse, etc all started up around then. It was the beginning and the end of a lot of things that sit at the center of our influences.
In five words or less, how would you describe your music?

Any details on your upcoming debut album?
The album will be a mix of songs we've been playing and developing over the last year as well as some new ones we wrote this summer. We've got David Frederickson from The Prids on board to track, produce and mix it so we're pretty ecstatic. We've been searching for the right person to record us for awhile. The Prids have been major supporters and mentors for us since the band's early beginnings. David is wonderful. It's a dream come true. We've got one single up online from it for the time being ("Get High") but the album should be out in early 2015.
Awesome! Since Tender Age is based in Portland, what are some of your favorite places to hang out at?
We end up hanging out by our practice space a lot so the spots around there like Robo Taco are big for us. Red Fox is a go to bar.

We use to only practice in the mornings. Elaina is addicted to rotisserie chicken, Tauna is addicted to Gordon Ramsey, Bryan is addicted to Carl Sagan and Edgar is addicted to wooden chairs.

Twin Peaks are streaming a new version of 'Flavor' and are working on LP #2!! 'Wild Onion' will be out on August 5th but if yr too impatient to wait for the album release, catch them in LA at The Satellite w/ Eagulls and Criminal Hygiene on May 30th.
