Okay, so I dug a little bit deeper into this, and apparently this was the inciting incident of the whole plot.
From what I can tell (while desperately wishing I could read Japanese) Mario feels super bad for blowing up at Luigi when he disappears later that day, and goes out looking for him.
Mario finds a dragon wearing his brother's hat, who directs him to a nearby ghost house, and from there Mario proceeds to fight his way through a hoard of phantoms and skeletons to get to his brother and bring him home safe.
So yeah, even if the beginning was out of character, it's clearly just a moment of weakness that Mario regrets later on.

Im never going to be able to take anyone in Threshold seriously and by the looks of it Arthur doesn't either because. Dude I don't think they can one up what already happened to this guy. Every time someone says anything in threat of Arthur its just way too funny to me. Yes I'm aware that they can absolutely kill him but be SO fr right now. He had a weird gory homoerotic situationship with God's son. He outsmarted The Butcher, one of the most well known hitmen in the country it seems twice and called him a friend by the end of it. He went to the 13th century?? He got the PLAGUE????? dude you can't one up the PLAGUE. He died 8 TIMES. he came back for EACH ONE. And by the end of that he was chill just killing himself to get to the Waylay. He is sustaining a fragment of an eldritch god in his head who is cosmically enterwined with his being at this point. No shit he doesn't care about your mob he literally walked under a sky made of viscera and stood in front of an incomprehensible holy obelisk that probably would've made him explode if he could actually SEE it

As of June 7 2026 Avidmc and Marma1ade have quit content creation.
Also as of June 7 2026, creators from the Minecraft server Skyblock Kingdoms (sbk) have come forward about “irrevocable damage [Avidmc and Marma1ade] have caused to SBK and its friends” (quote from Sbk statement on twitter) and have removed them from the server.
