ABOUT.

slytherin house,    founded by its namesake salazar slytherin,    accepts students with the characteristics resourcefulness,    cunning,    ambition,    determination,    self - preservation,    fraternity and cleverness.    most of the students in the house are pure of blood,    due to the founder’s mistrust of muggleborns.    their emblematic animal is a SNAKE,    and the house ghost is the bloody baron.     slytherin house corresponds to the element WATER,    meaning their house colours are green and silver.    their head of house is severus snape,    the potions master.

COMMON ROOM.

slytherin common room is located in the dungeons of hogwarts castle,   underneath the black lake.     in order to enter,    the student must speak the password in front of a stretch of damp,    stone wall.    once the password is spoken,    a concealed stone door will slide aside.    as the common room is situated underneath the black lake,    the lighting inside is predominantly green,    and students are able to see the creatures that inhabit the lake through large windows.

merlin,    the bloody baron,    phineas nigellus black,    horace slughorn,    tom riddle,    dolores umbridge,    severus snape,    the entire black family    (    excluding sirius black    ).

                   or yet in wise old ravenclaw,    if you’ve a ready mind,               where those of wit and learning,    will always find their kind.

ABOUT.

ravenclaw house,    founded by its namesake rowena ravenclaw,     accepts students with the traits of intelligence,    wit,    wisdom,    creativity,    originality,    acceptance and individuality.    their emblematic animal is an EAGLE,    and their house ghost is helena ravenclaw,    more commonly known as the grey lady.    ravenclaw house corresponds to the element AIR,    meaning their house colours are blue and bronze.    their head of house is filius flitwick,    professor of charms.

COMMON ROOM.

ravenclaw house is situated in one of the castle’s towers,    guarded by a door with a bronze eagle shaped knocker.    the students must answer a riddle asked by the knocker in order to enter,    which is different each time.    inside the common room has arched windows and the walls are hung with blue and bronze silks.    a large,    marble statue of rowena ravenclaw stands near the entrance,    and tables,    chairs,    and bookcases are found all around.

NOTABLE RAVENCLAWS.

helena ravenclaw,    uric the oddball,    laverne de montmorency,    garrick ollivander,    moaning myrtle,    filius flitwick,    xenophilius lovegood,    gilderoy lockhart,    sybill trelawney,    quirinus quirrell.

             you might belong in hufflepuff,    where they are just and loyal,                   those patient hufflepuffs are true,    and unafraid of toil.

ABOUT. 

hufflepuff house,    founded by its namesake helga hufflepuff,    selects students showing traits of dedication,    hard work,    fair play,    patience,    kindness,    and loyalty.    its emblematic animal is a BADGER,    and its house ghost is the fat friar.    hufflepuff house corresponds to the element EARTH,    meaning its house colours are yellow and black.    the head of house is pomona sprout,    professor of herbology.

COMMON ROOM.

the hufflepuff dormitory is located one floor below the ground,    near the hogwarts kitchens.    its entrance is guarded by a stack of barrels,   requiring the student who wishes to enter to tap the barrel situated two from the bottom and middle of the second row in the rhythm of ‘helga hufflepuff’.    if a student taps the wrong barrel,    or taps an incorrect number of times,    one of the other lids will open and douse the student in vinegar.    hufflepuff house is the only house with repelling devices in place for intruders.    the common room itself is round with low ceilings,    and the view from the windows are always of dandelions and rippling grass.

ABOUT.

gryffindor house,    founded by its namesake godric gryffindor,    selects the students with bravery,    nerve,    chivalry,    courage,    and daring.    their emblematic animal is a LION,    with their house ghost being sir nicholas de mimsy - porpington,    more commonly known as nearly headless nick.    gryffindor house corresponds to the element FIRE,    meaning their house colours are scarlet and gold.     their head of house is minerva mcgonagall,    professor of transfiguration. 

COMMON ROOM.

the gryffindor common room is located in gryffindor tower.    its entrance is guarded by a portrait of the fat lady,    with the password changing regularly.    its interior contains a fireplace,    portraits of previous heads of houses lining the walls,    and two staircases leading up to both the girls’ and boys’ dormitories.    there is an enchantment placed on the stairs to the girls’ dormitory,    meaning that it makes it impossible for boys to climb them.    there is no such enchantment on the staircase to the boys’ dormitory,    as the hogwarts founders believed that girls were more trustworthy than boys.
