Benjamin saw his WIFE’S r e a c t i o n; a HINT of a b l u s h POSSIBLY creeping upon her CHEEKS. He felt his OWN cheeks f l u s h with SLIGHT e m b a r r a s s e m e n t as he felt her HANDS reach LOWER. He CLEARED his THROAT before APPROACHING the MEN.

“Sorry, GENTLEMEN, but I am CALLED OUT for the day,” he announced, f l i p p i n g the sign from OPEN to CLOSE.

Of course, LUCY would most likely PROTEST, but he didn’t give a DAMN. His loving SPOUSE came FIRST and FOREMOST. He approached her seconds later; kissing her on the lips again.

“Lucy,” he murmured in her neck, “I love you.”

      Her eyes grow w i d e as she watches him flip the sign and manages a playful little frown before wrapping her arms around his neck, pressing herself closer to him.

      [She does not bother to study the visages of the gentlemen-she knows that they were DISAPPOINTED, and there is a small part of her that desperately wishes that her husband had remained opened-Lord knows they need the money, especially with a child on the way.]

    And yet, she is glad that he has decided to spend the rest of the afternoon with her-she is so very lonely in her small bedroom throughout the working hours.
