Listener
How many of us actually listen? It might sound very simple but listening is very difficult. We are sitting with our friends and family, sipping the beer and enjoying ourselves. Let’s say I know an interesting topic, engines inside me keep running and gushing to let that story out. So this is what happens to me, my ears stops working, and all they do is find a gap in the conversation and my mouth is ready to blurt out my story. Your friends and family are so wonderful even though they are not interested in the topic, which in first place is completely out of context still appreciates you for sharing the story. Don’t be that guy.
Me and my wife have been having tough conversations these days and when I calm myself down, I realized the only reason we are fighting is because I am not listening. I am not listening.
If you are bad listener, you need to remind yourself about that fact and practice listening. Talk less and listen more. The Art of Listening, concept mentioned by “Simon Sinek” highlights the fact that hearing is different from feeling. You might be a good listener but it does not mean anything unless you actually feel the words.
