“Easy – eating is pretty pressing. Do you realize how many people, children, are out in the world right now that haven’t eaten for days? Oh, i’m sorry. I FORGOT. Republican’s are pro-life until it comes for properly caring for said life once it’s born.” It was a harsh dig, and she knew it. Especially because she knew Gareth didn’t exactly subscribe to that specific tactic. Even so, it was a fair argument given the lack of assistance those in his party offered to unprepared pregnant women and their children.
It’s only after her statement that she allows herself to indulge in the cheesy slice that rested on the paper plate in front of her, bothering not to hide the extending glob of white goodness that stretches from her mouth to her chosen cuisine.
As offended as he was, initially, he has to admit that he walked right into that one. And, well, Laurel may be slightly overreacting, but her harsh words don’t fail to get a reaction out of him. Gareth’s eyebrows furrow as he finally deigns to look at her. Although his glance is spiteful, the tiniest glimpse of a smirk can be seen, subtly raising the corners of his mouth --- yes, this is exactly what he was looking for in her.
“And tell me, Laurel --- how exactly is that not talking about politics? Or are you only capable of doing such thing by dissing those whose morals differ from yours, even slightly?”
