Anyway, the woman saw that the apple was good.
Sin has always been choosing the wrong good.
That's why people miss the point when they say "Well, X can't be a sin, because it's good in these ways!" And they similarily miss the point when they say that "X can't be good, because (excess or misuse of X) is a sin!"
You may eat of any tree in the garden except for that of sin. If you eat of it, you will die.
Rest is good. Sloth will kill you. Food and drink is good. Gluttony will kill you. Money is good. Avarice will kill you. Love is good. Lust will kill you. Justice is good. Wrath will kill you. And so on.
Everything can become an addiction, but the fault is not in everything. The fault is in our hearts. We love wrongly.

People who think that Christianity is supposed to save you from bad things happening to you have a very, very, extremely flawed understanding of the religion whose founder was publicly and painfully executed.
Simple =\= easy, and everything worthwhile is hard.
i’m obsessed with this painting called tomato king and i’m even more obsessed with the man who drew it. his name is stuart dunkel and he is a classical oboeist and he also paints tiny little oil paintings of mice living their best lives. he looks like this.
HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is this the jelly bean guy???

The guy who does the mice with jelly beans
And dreidels, apparently
Psalms 36:5-6
Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, Your justice like the ocean depths.
yeah i will not partake in the societal habit of fearing getting older. each new year you get is a blessing so jot that down
blah blah blah "the Bible is misogynistic", "christianity is sexist" but can we talk about how all the girls stayed during the crucifixion while the men ran? how a good wife is described as a crown to her husband, more precious than jewels and a blessing from the Lord? how Hagar is the first person in the Bible to give God a title, El Roi, the God who Sees [me]? How Rahab the prostitute is listed in Hebrews among the likes of Abraham and Moses for her faith? How Esther risked her life to save her people in Persia? How Priscilla is mentioned by Paul as having an important role in the strengthening of the early church? How Mary was chosen to bear Jesus, the Messiah and Son of God?
"biblical marriages are set against women and so patriarchal with no consideration for wives"
meanwhile God speaking through...
Moses: yes, Man has everything he needs here in Eden but there's still something missing. he should have someone fit to help and complement him.
Peter: brothers if you're bad husbands, God's just straight up not going to listen to your prayers. get your act together and take care of your wife.
Paul: you better be prepared to die for your wife guys. and that's not a suggestion, that's God's command.
Solomon: a good wife is literally priceless. like you could be the richest man and she would still be more valuable to you than all of it combined.
Paul again: honor your wife, you're equal to her in God's eyes and co-heirs with Christ. treat her like you would yourself.
Malachi: you priests have neglected and mistreated your wives and been unfaithful even though you're supposed to be one with them? there is nothing but misery that will come for you for this breach of covenant.
Paul, yet again: if you are not mirroring Jesus Christ in how you treat her in marriage, you're failing in your duty as a husband.
I had a 102.5 F fever yesterday and turned out my Mom and I have covid. We’re feeling a lot better now, but I’m a little upset because we won’t be able to go to the family’s cookout this weekend. Also these barefoot shoes I bought were delivered but I can’t go walking in them because my body is too weak at the moment :(
Too many women nowadays have way too much of a victim complex and it creates a rather unhealthy and biased mindset.
I just saw a reel on Instagram with an audio about how “women are raised with the idea that to be a good woman is to be good for other people, to be a mother to children or a wife to a husband, so really true empowerment is just doing stuff for you”.
My first thought was, so? Men are also raised with the idea that to be a good man is to be good to other people, to be a good husband, an good father, a good employer/employee, a good family member, a good community member. Deadbeat dads and men with no drive and responsibilities might be more common now, but they aren’t celebrated or seen as a what a “good man” should be. Most of our conceptions about what it means to be a “good person” in general have to do with how we treat people and how we contribute to the social fabric, this is not some unique or oppressive thing that is solely foisted onto women.
While we should work to maintain healthy boundaries and do things for ourselves to “fill our emotional cup” to avoid burnout and bitterness, being responsible, doing things for others, and putting effort into relationships is normal adult behavior, not oppression, and seeking to live a life just for you and your hedonistic desires is most likely not going to be fulfilling in the long run, and is quite frankly an immature aim.
All sins can be forgiven. Absolutely no sin is unforgivable. Yes, even that one. Yes, even that one. Yes, even that one.
Stop acting like violence and murder are an appropriate response to sin. We don't have to allow someone to continue to cause pain to others but we are called to mercy and forgiveness.
Christ died for all of us, and paid the price for all of our sins.
Yes, even that one.
