A monarch invites a young magician into the castle to negotiate the magician’s aid in an upcoming war. It becomes apparent to the that the monarch only wants to use the magician’s power for evil. The magician has to figure out a way to sneakily escape without inciting the wrath of a blood thirsty monarch, whether that be with the help of the monarch’s child or with other servants to the monarch.
“For once, won’t you tell me how you feel?”
“Why the hell would I do that?”
“I don’t know, because you’re a stranger on your own ship? None of us know a damn thing about you, Captain, and we’ve been sailing with you for years.”
“If I did that, you’d hate me.”
“Come on now- there’s nothing worse than what we’ve seen.”
“It’s not that it’s what I did, it’s what I didn’t do.”
The door shut behind the pair.
“Why didn’t you defend me back there? That was humiliating!”
“What was I supposed to do? They’re our superior, A!”
“Yeah, but I thought you were my friend! Friends defend each other!”
“They would have had my head if I spoke back! Look- I’m sorry, I really am. I was scared, just like you.”
“Whatever. I... need some time.”
“Please, don’t make me do it again, I- I can’t!”
“A, we conquered this once, we can do it again.”
“Maybe you can, but I can’t! You remember what happened- what that monster did to me!”
“I know, but we can’t beat it without you.”
A is a power hungry villain, and B is their childhood best friend.
A is hell-bent on destroying everything in their path that prevents them from gaining power. B knows why A is like this, and they’re the only person that can stop A.
But, what happens when A doesn’t recognize their friend? Either from memories fading over time or their power makes them forget everything everything that isn’t beneficial to the goal, including friends and family.
“I’m not a babysitter, you know.”
“No, but you are my sibling, and I never ask anything from you. This is the least you could do for me.”
“I’m not very good with kids. Plus, children aren’t really conducive to my work environment, so-“
“Please, A? We can’t find anyone who will take them and I don’t trust nannies. You’re the only person I can think of.”
“I... fine, but you owe me.”
“Oh, thank you! I’ll leave you all the instructions, and we’ll only be gone for two weeks.”
“Two weeks?”
“Have you lost your mind?!”
“You asked for my help, so I did. You’re welcome!”
“I asked for you to take the hero out, as in, kill them, so why are they tied to a chair in my dining room in front of a candle lit dinner?”
“You asked for me to take them out-“
“I meant kill them!”
“You really should have been more specific. Now, are you going to keep your guest waiting?”
“Come on! Please? It’s basic etiquette that you feed your guests,”
“Yeah, but there is no ethical way for me get you a quart of blood,”
“Can’t you go to a blood bank or something?”
“You do know that a blood bank is for donating blood, not withdrawing... right?”
“What? Humans and your philanthropy. You give away blood for free? Such a curious species.”
Dealing with a bratty prince/princess who refuses to marry, the ruler of a powerful kingdom hunts down and commissions an infamous pirate crew to “kidnap” them in a last-ditch effort to make the young royal realize how good they have it back inside the castle. After months at sea, the young royal realizes how much they love the freedom the ocean provides, and perhaps all the attention given to them by the ship’s Captain.
“How about we go to a Haunted House?”
“I’m gonna stop you there. We can’t take C to a haunted house.”
“Why is that? They’ll get too scared?”
“No, they always flirt with the scare actors.”
“So, how are we gonna do this? Are you just gonna, like, attack my throat or..?”
“What do you take me for, a monster? I’m a vampire. I’m much more civilized than that. Give me your wrist.”
“Okay, but if you kill me, I’m gonna be pissed.”
“What do you mean you failed the exam? Your power is stronger than most heroes in the city!”
“I don’t know, it was stupid anyways. I passed the question portion but when it came time to use my power...”
“What happened with your power?”
“It didn’t show up. It was humiliating!”
“Didn’t show up? Has that ever happened before?”
“Once... but I didn’t think it would happen again.”
“Do you think we’ll ever go home?”
“I’m not sure. Home is worlds away. But- but I think that one day we could see it again.”
“One day?”
“Yes. Nothing is guaranteed, A. We’re lucky enough to have one another.”
“Come on, A. We’re going to get you some medicine.”
“Why do I have to go? Why can’t you just leave me here to die?”
“Stop being so dramatic. It’s a headache.”
“Dude, when were you gonna tell me that you can sing?”
“I’m a knight, not a bard. It’s not important.”
“Maybe not in battle, but I think it’s pretty cool. Your voice is very soothing.”
“You think so?”
“Yeah- it’s really nice.”
“Are you all right?”
“Huh? Oh- yes. I’m fine.”
“You’re trembling.”
“It’s... cold.”
“It’s eighty degrees in here.”
“It doesn’t matter, but... could you stay? I don’t want to be alone.”
“Of course.”
“I can’t believe you’ve done this! You could have gotten us killed! I should beat the shit out of you!”
“Come on, then. If you’re so angry, do something about it. Hit me.”
