From Nate: "I never look back, darling. It distracts me from the now." (from The Incredibles)
Bell was sat at the end of Nate's bed, his head buried in an American Charms book he took from his friend's bookshelf as Nate muttered and complained from inside his extended trunk. It seemed completely inconsequential to him, but apparently, it was something of extreme importance that Nate had forgotten to pack something, or at least that's what Bellamy assumed from the racket Nate was making. He had been trying to avoid acknowledging him in the hopes that Nate would figure it out on his own, but after re-reading the same paragraph for the third time following Nate's aggravated groan, Bellamy finally put down the book to see his friend pouting at a small collection of shoes organized in a semi-circle around him.
"Okay, I'll bite. What's wrong?" Bell frowned, propping his chin on his palm and raising an eyebrow.
Nate immediately perked up, his eyes shining brightly and some stupid werewolf joke no doubt on the tip of his tongue. Bellamy narrowed his eyes in silent warning, in no mood for Nate's easy teasing when he hadn't had his morning coffee yet.
Nate might not have said anything, but he made a point of making a playful biting movement in Bell's direction, then winked before turning back to the shoes in front of him. "Which one should I wear for tonight?"
"The black ones," Bell answered, not even looking at the selection in front of Nate.
"They're all black. C'mon Bellarina-" Bellamy shot a half-hearted glare which Nate ignored and continued without interruption. "Be serious-"
"What does it matter? Wear the ones you wore yesterday. They were fine." Bellamy started to open the charms book again, bored with the conversation quickly.
"I never look back, darling. It distracts me from the now." Nate smirked assessing the choices in front of him and quietly muttered a charm on one of them to get out the smallest of scuffs.
"Have you picked one then? I'd like to get breakfast sometime today before I have to go to potions."
"You're absolute no help, you know that? I would think you'd have stronger opinions-"
"When have you ever known me to voice strong opinions?"
"-considering your little boyfriend has pretty good taste," Nate continued as if Bellamy hadn't interrupted, used to the way Bell couldn't seem to stop himself every few minutes. Bellamy may not say very much to people he wasn't close with but couldn't seem to stop himself from interjecting his thoughts with Nate, bickering under his breath in easy teasing tones. Even if it was rude and went against his pureblood upbringing.
"So ask Grant's opinion. Better yet, just get Harriet's opinion," Bellamy shrugged, pulling the book back in front of his face to finally end the conversation. Hopefully.
Nate gave in, chuckling under his breath and deciding to ask Harriet after dinner.
