How do you feel that fifty shades is the only fanfic to become a worldwide book turned film franchise? I feel like there are so many other well written fics out there and fifty shades did not represent. It’s just another fuel to the fire who misunderstand Edward’s personality. It sucks to hear that e.l. wasn’t nice either...

i, uh... hate it. don’t get me wrong, there are definitely some things about it that appeal to me -- it’s just that those things happen to be anything that reminds me of edward and bella. there are absolutely, without a damn doubt better fics that would have made incredible novels and deserved all the attention that ‘fifty shades’ somehow got. i can name three right off the top of my head that were better written and should have easily accomplished the same acclaim: ‘wide awake’, ‘bare’ and ‘dusty’. ‘dusty’ actually is a published novel, and it doesn’t get nearly the amount of love it should.

it definitely does add fuel to the fire. original edward on his own is really such a complex, beautiful character and there are so many heartbreaking, wonderful versions of him in incredible fics that are being completely overshadowed by the shock value of christian grey.

there are some stories i’ve heard through a friend that spoke with erika one-on-one about her views on publishing fics and the ‘twilight’ community. all of them were saddening and disappointing.

listen, i know this sounds... hate-y (not a word, i know, please don’t clock me) and i can’t tell you how much i wish i could say how happy i am that a fanfic author has achieved so much success and wealth and fame and oh wow! i just can’t. erika blatantly stole stephenie’s ideas and made them worse. she wrote a story about a massively unhealthy relationship built upon the idea that mental illness and abuse = a kinky fetish. at every turn, she’s made choices that just... do not sit well with me. i get why people got into it. it’s a fun idea, a good fantasy, an escape. a hot, young, incredibly wealthy heart-throb falls in love with the most plain girl on the planet.

problem is, it already exists. it’s called ‘twilight’ and holy shit, it is so much better.

Do you have a release date planned for your new stories? :)

not a set release date, no. i really want to get a large chunk of them written before i begin posting so i can keep up with both the newer story and ‘high and dry’. i also have to figure out the order in which i’ll post them. i have five -- three longer, two shorter -- and i’m working on them all simultaneously. it’s a bit chaotic, but it’s an organized chaos. xx

I’ve been exploring Stephanie Meyer’s website recently, and I totally forgot about the book outtakes she posted on there! And all of the cool playlists. Did you read those? And when do you think she will release midnight sun?

i absolutely did! when i first discovered them, i had just finished reading the books that were available (twilight, new moon and eclipse) and was absolutely wild for more content. i discovered the playlists first, and the outtakes afterward but only read ‘midnight sun’ a few months ago. just a head’s up, all her playlists are also on spotify now. :)

unfortunately, sometimes i wonder if the question isn’t ‘when will she’ but rather ‘if she ever will.’ i’ll always hold out hope, but i truly think stephenie was quite discouraged by the whole ‘fifty shades’ phenomenon -- particularly ‘grey’, which is really just e.l. james blatantly ripping steph off... again. (just for reference, i was in the same chatroom as e.l. back when it was still called ‘master of the universe’ and she was... not a very nice person)

getting ready to update (hopefully) sometime today or tomorrow, and i just wanted to preface the chapter with a few things...

secondly, i’ve had a couple of messages about bella’s emergent eating disorder and concerns about me realistically portraying it. i have every intention of telling that part of her story as genuinely as i can. as someone who suffered (and still does, because it never truly leaves you) from an eating disorder, i only write what i feel confident i can do justice to. again, if you’re feeling upset or bothered by anything you read, drop me a line.

lastly, i just want to assure everyone that no matter how bad things may seem, they must get worse before they get better. we’re only at the beginning -- i know things look bleak, but it’s all for a reason. xx

chapter 9 is preeetty much done, i’m just being nit-picky about it because it’s a… strange chapter. big things happen for bella and thus there’s a little bit less edward than usual and it makes me so sad because i love him with all my stupid heart, so i’m trying to find ways to fit more of him in.
