it's mid week...
So it is mid week again, the weekend almost upon us. Can't quite decide what to do this Sunday, swell looks good but i'm thinking too big for me. Wind is marginal could be possible to get some waveriding done in Cotillo. we will see and should have some great photos from it either way.

so today didn't quite go as planned, my usual photographer was otherwise engaged so had to wait for a friend to finish work. this meant very little time as the light started fleeting away and as he isn't a photographer it meant a large learning curve for him but we did manage to get a couple of good photos. here is one.

'testing the water'. When we arrived the wind didn't really seem very strong so just to make sure did some test jumps on land. This also gave James a chance to build up his confidence in me jumping over him and not kicking his camera out of his hands.

I did a photo shoot, i think 2 years ago now, for Flysurfer. these photos have been used for their Viron ads.
The Viron is a perfect training kite, it doesn't have great pull for doing any real traction kiteing but that is the beauty. It acts like a 12m kite, i was flying the 6m, but pulls like a 3m. Giving you the chance to let students experience the control of a slow sluggish kite on land without giving them a stupid amount of power.
when the wind starts to low the kite can generate enough power to have some real fun as well. it was around 30kts when we took these shots, the kite was still easily controlled when depowered and when you got some apparent wind travelling over it you could have some great fun. Later i will post what happened when i had 'too much' fun.

What to do?
Well it is Wednesday so the weekend is approaching fast, that means one thing and that is my day off. Forecast looks a little rubbish though so may have to find something better to do. maybe some longboarding down the Majanicho road could be a good idea.
If you have any better ideas please tell me in the comments bellow, i want to get some photos out to you all.

Another photoshoot here, this time for Flyboard used on their website and in a few magazine adverts. These shots were taken in Sotavento, between the two centres in some nice offshore winds. I'm flying the 19m speed 3 and riding the Flyradical. the flyradical, has changed over the years but there are a few aspects that have remained the same and are great.
Asymmetric toeside edge. unlike most kiteboards the outline of the toeside is different to the heelside. The tips are much rounder on the toeside than the heelside this makes the working edge shorter making it easier to edge when riding toeside which also makes it easier when landing toeside or blind.
Wood core. over the years the cores of boards have changed alot but wood appears to be the best solution. it is strong and flexible and doesn't gradually break like carbon fibre (carbon fibre, when it bends, cracks very slightly but over time this weakens the board. wood does not, it flexes and returns to its shape with no problem. it is however slightly heavier.)
The foot straps are comfortable and with a pull pull system are easily adjusted.

Working at Flag Beach gives me access to the latest in North, North Sails, Fanatic and ION kit. This is one of our teaching kites from this year. These kites have really been put through their paces. Out in the sun for 6-8 hours a day, smashed off the water countless times and i must say the construction of the 2011 is impeccable. Usually after 6-10 months of this treatment you would expect a kite to become weak and start t tear easily but the D2 material used on these kites is still holding strong.

So I had the day off work Sunday and my friend wanted to try taking pictures of something other than surfing for a change, so we head over to Cotillo to have some fun in the lagoon. Here is one shot from the session. I will post the rest up during the week.
